Workflow versioning... How does it work ?

Hello Workflow Gurus !
I'm new to this great world of Workflows and I am wondering how versionning works.  I have 2 question in that regard:
Q1) I look at table SWDSHEADER and found multiple entries with same WFD_ID number but different versions (VERSION) values.  As an example, WFD_ID has version and version abd both seem to be active (field ACTIV contains 'X' in both cases).  What is the difference between version and .
Q2) Why some workflow have a version number ... some being active (field ACTIV = 'X') and some being inactive ?
Thanks in advance for any explanations.
José

Hi ,
1 . In general once we create a new workflow the workflow flow number has been generated with version no : 0000
2. If we want to do some modification to the workflow with out distrubing the cureent work flow we will create a new version
as 0001 .
Once it is working fine then we will use the new version by activation the version 0001 . In this case the old version has been inactivated .
Only one version is activated once . two version canot run at same time  for the same workflow(Before transporting the new version if there are any workflow are running then that workflow wil lcontinue the old version remaining all wil lfollow the new version).
as your question some workflows are having version no 9999 .
i think they may created 9999 versions as of now .
I.e  0000 , 0001 , 0002 . 0003 , 0004 , 0005 , -
9999.
They may deleted the old workflow version if it is not need .
mostly will keep maximum of 10 version , remaining all we can delete.
so u may seee only 9999 version , remaining all are deleted.

  • How does this work?

This is not a complaint, but a confused sigh of admiration. I've got an email account at the university where I teach. When I got my iBook, it took me a while, and a few conversations with IT at the school, to get this account working in the Mail application. (Since I have a Verizon DSL at home, I had to include that SMTP as the outgoing server.) Anyway, I synched this mail account (along with my AOL and .Mac accounts) onto the iPhone, and it works perfectly, both incoming and outgoing. I didn't have to change any of the settings. I thought I was computer savvy, but I can't wrap my mind around this. It seems like magic. How does it work?

The sync process with iTunes transfers the email account settings (for your chosen accounts via your iPhone sync preferences) from the Mail application on your Mac to the iPhone's email application.
The iPhone is running OS X and the iPhone's email client can be considered a mobile version of the Mail application.

I would like to know which app/software in MAC gives us the same feature that is provided by System Restore in Windows, and how does that work.

Time Machine is one such program, although it is a recursive backup program which offers limited archive capability, based on the capacity of the backup destination, and it requires you set it up before you start editing your files.   Some programs are also Versions aware, which offers a kind of restore capability by file.  Again needs to be setup before you start editing.
    Just a for-your-info:
Mac is not an acronym, it is a nickname for Macintosh.

  • Archive workflow for FCSrv - does it work that way?

    Hi,
we are installing FCSvr in our shop by the end of the month and after a lot of reading I have a question about an archiving workflow and if that works that way?
We have about 1 TB of files each month that are finished productions that need to go. Deleting is not an option as we often have to go back and do changes, we also want to have the clips somehow (digital, not only on video tape) available for later production. Final Cut Server sounds like a solution, eh?
We have 1x Xserve with FCSvr and 1x Xserve RAID connected via fiber uplink via trunked Gbit ethernet (works for us..)
The idea is to connect a Netgear ReadyNAS 1100 (Link: http://www.netgear.com/Products/Storage/ReadyNAS1100.aspx) with 3x 1TB SATA discs in Raid5 (4th slot is empty) to the network. Name would be archive001.
In FCSvr I would setup a device and tell it to use as archive space.
Once full (or lets say around 80%) I unmount the raid and shut it down, label the 3 drives and stick them in the shelf.
3 new drives go into the Netgear, I setup archive002, make it a new device in FCSvr and tell it to use as archive.
And so on and so forth.
In the case an editor needs an old shot / project (happens not very often, I'm calculating with max 4x a month, excluding if they need data that is on the device that is still mounted because its not yet full) FCSvr tells me where the archived asset is (?), let assume on device archive001.
I go to my shelf, grab the drives, stick them into the Netgear, and the person is able to grab the asset.
What happens if an user requests a restore and the "wrong" raid is mounted? (the device is not there?) Does he get an appropriate error message so that he can tell the IT person to change drives or how does that work?
Cost wise: the Netgear is about 1100 EUR and we already have a unit so in case one fails and we cannot get a new one (any more) we are sort of covered and can copy to a new system.
Each 1 TB is about 90 EUR at the moment, though Raid5 I can use 2 TB out of 3, so I end up paying 270 EUR for 2 TB of archive (plus the initial RAID).
The system is scalable (to some extend).
Future goal (2 years down the line?) would be a Object Matrix setup with Xserves and Promise 12-24 TB RAIDs. But not now (money)..
    What do you think?
    Any input greatly appreciated.
    Tobi
PS: Data Tape: been there, done that, dont like it (for this purpose, we use data tape e.g. to create "Master" of XDCAM footage) and too inflexible (I actually hope to reuse all the 1 TB drives for the Object MAtrix thing one day).

    Hello,
you might write a pre restore script which checks if your archive volume of choice is available. If not, it can then send an email to your administrator, so that he can make that volume available.
    Regards,
    André

  • What is iTunes Match and how does it work?

What is iTunes Match and how does it work? I have several tunes on my computer that do not show complete. The source of these tunes are from my own CDs.

iTunes match - http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/ - see FAQ at end too
Basically it looks at the music you have in iTunes.  If it sees the equivalent on the iTunes Store site it does nothing, but it makes that copy accessible to you to download.  If you have music  it doesn't it will upload a version from your computer to the site that only you can access from anywhere online.
In your case if you have incomplete tracks it will not fix them.  It does some kind of audio fingerprinting to make sure you aren't just feeding it a bunch of 60s demonstration cuts and trying to get whole tracks back.

  • How does UEFI work

    Hi,
I have a P875, and need to upgrade to W8 Pro.
I would prefer to do a clean install, in fact I would prefer to install a fresh 1Tb HDD ( £56 on Amazon ) and put Pro on that.( full version, not upgrade )
I think I understand that I will lose all the Tosh backup/recovery tuff, but thats ok.
But what Im unsure about is this new UEFI system. I understand BIOS in CMOS, and flashing it, but how does UEFI work, and is it HDD based. Will replacing HDD with a blank have any effect ???
I remember when....... and arent Policemen getting younger !

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Satellite P875-31P (PSPLFE-00P008EN)
I bet that the necessary files are not already on the HDD, and it will involve visiting MS site to download the necessaries once upgrade license is received.
The process is painless. It goes like this.
Point to the upper-right corner of the screen and click Search. Enter add features in the search box and then click Settings. Click Add features to Windows 8 and then click I want to buy a product key online. You will be prompted through the steps to buy a product key from there.
Let us know whether additional files are downloaded.

  • How does Iterate work inside an Action

I'm having trouble figuring out how does <Iterate > work inside an <Action> in a workflow. My <Action> is to call a subprocess that takes several arguments and initiates an approval. Since I need to fire-off several approvals at the same time instead of chaining them I use <Iterate> that loops over a list variable.
Now the subprocess being an approval the workflow gets suspended and divided into multiple parallel paths. My question is that how do these parallel paths assimilate together after approval or they don't assimilate at all and process in separate parallel lines or otherwise whichever approval returns first takes precedence and proceeds with rest of the activities.
    TIA,
    AndyDev

Thanks for the reply. But this doesn't answer my question completely.
Say within <Iterate> I specify **for='var_name' in='list_name'** will it continue to run after it has run once for each element in the list. If yes, doesn't it trigger the sub-process multiple times, something I don't want. If no, what happens next ? (that was actually my original ques).
Say if list_name had 5 elements, it triggers one sub-process (which is a multiapproval) for each of them. What happens next ? Does it transition to next activity? Does it wait for all approvals to finish approve/reject?

  • BPEL Engine: How does it work?

"[BPEL].. Engines will come in a variety of form factors and use different techniques for runtime representation of processes, including:
    * interpretative
    * code generation
    * Obj Oriented models of Activities
    * reduction engine based on Pi-Calcolus and related concepts"
    [P. Brown& M. Szefler]
How does it work Oracle version of BPEL Engine exactly? Does it make a package (.jar) of Java classes and process them like usual Web Applications?

It is based on a mix of the first 3 techniques. The code gene part is really internal and is more about just in time compilation and performance optimization than generation of a Java application. -Edwin

  • My iPhone was stolen and I have contacted the police who are using the meid number to locate.  How does this work and what are my chances of getting the phone back?

My iPhone was stolen.  I used Find My iPhone app to lock it and display a message.  The phone has not connected to the internet to locate it.  I contacted the police and they have taken my meid number.  How does this work and what are my chances of getting the phone back?  Are there other ways the theif can use it.  I was told once they put in a new sim card and use it, whatever software the police have, it will show up.

Honestly? In the US (I can't speak to other countries, though I doubt it works much differently in a lot of the world) The police took your report and filed it either in their computers or, on paper. They will now not think of this again. The only time it will cross anyones mind is if, in the course of entering information into evidence about items recovered or seized at a crime scene, the serial number of an iPhone that was found/seized happens to match yours, in which case you will be contacted.
The police in the US can and will do nothing to 'blok' the phone and it's not worth their time to try and locate it unless you know for a fact that it was stolen by a big time drug lord, master criminal, or some other such prime target and they can get a court order to track the location of the phone in order to locate this individual for your own purposes.  If they do that, they'll probably keep him under surveilance for a year or so before they act.
Basically, the police don't care about your phone. If they find it, they will give it back to you. They are not, however, going to go looking for it. They have better things to do.
I'm sorry, but that's the way it is.

  • Was told a USB device would create a PDF automatically from the data contained within when plugged into my USB port. Doesn't seem to work. How does this work and how can I fix the device I received?

Acrobat is not on the USB device - only Adobe Reader needed on the PC. How does this work? How can I fix this device if at all?

You need to ask the people who sold it to you. Doesn't sound like it has anything to do with Reader.
However, you should be wary of devices that automatically try to open files when plugged in. They can also infect your computers with all kinds of viruses or malware.

  • TS1425 My co worker has given me his iPod to take home and transfer his music to my laptop, however, I am unable to access his music to download it to my computer.  How does this work?

My co-worker has given me his iPod to take home and transfer his music to my laptop, however, I am unable to access his music to download it to my computer.  How does this work?

You need to transfer the iTunes Library from the most recent backup you made before the hard drive was replaced.
You can't transfer the full iTunes Library from the iPad back to iTunes.
There are third-party Windows applications that will transfer data from an iOS device, but they don't re-create the iTunes Library exactly as it was before.

  • How does Remote work with Apple TV?

How does Remote work with Apple TV?
    1. Does Remote, "Play" the music that resides on your iPod Touch>Apple TV>Home Speakers.
    OR
Does Remote "Control" the music that resides on Apple TV HD>Home Speakers.
(If so... say you have a iPod Touch that only holds 8GB's but your music collection on your Apple TV exceeds that amount.
Will Remote still "Control" the larger music collection on Apple TV or your computer?)
    2. Will iPod Wifi work on a patio outside a home to control Apple TV inside the home?
    thank you in advance, Tom

Remote is a way to control iTunes on either your computer or Apple TV using a WiFi connection. See this article for complete instructions.
