Working with 2 or more Frames

Hi,
I trying to do an application. My application have a main frame and this frame calls others frames. I need something like that, when the main frame calls another frame, the second frame shows a combobox (for example) and the user need to choose from the combobox list. The resulting from the second frame ( that have a combobox) is an object that need to return to the main frame. So, what can I do to return an object to the main frame ? The main frame and second frame are diferents classes.
I try to put a variable on the second frame that is accessible by a get method but, when I instantiate the second class on the main class to show the second frame, in order to the user choose an option, and access the variable from the second frame to main frame, the second frame doesn't show the combo list. Are there a way to return to main frame only when the user choose an option on the second frame ?

I suspect most slowdowns occur because of complex audio, not the size of the project. It sometimes helps to export the audio to an AIFF file, then re-import that file back into the project and place it in its own audio track. When you disable the audio of the other tracks, playback is improved.
That makes it harder to edit a half-finished project, however. It's a technique best reserved for almost-finished projects.
You could export the timeline to the camera, then re-import it to a new project. That will both make the project smaller and "flatten" its audio and video. Most clips will return as the clips they are now.
70 minutes of video is ordinarily about 15GB, so something has increased the size substantially. (That's not normally a problem you have to worry about; the size of the project itself is probably not the problem.)

What i am attempting to achieve is to work with at least two app at the same time. For example: select any picture from my albums to attach them in an email. Another example is get data from an app to use it with the calc app. And there are more exaples for it. And for sure I need support for an iPad air. I mencioned the other tablet just to try to be a bit clearer.

Without knowing your hardware setup, your functional requirements, and the user base, and can't answer that question with 100% certainty. But, I can tell you that a multiple server configuration will definitely provide you with more performance and scalability (assuming proper configuration).
As far as using Standard Edition vs Enterprise Edition, there will be no differences from a performance/scalability perspective. With Enterprise edition you get some tools you don't get with Standard Edition such as WebCache, Forms, Reports, Discoverer, 8i Cache (database cache), and iFS. I'm not certain if you get OID with both editions, but I think you might. If you dont have OID you wont be able to use the LDAP authentication features of Portal (unless you already have your own LDAP directory service set up).
The product lists are from my memory (not always dependable), so you should verify those through your sales representative before making any decisions.

I'm starting to get a collection of smaller external hard drives. Can I use two or more drives to backup a larger primary drive with TM?

Working with slow motion/mixed frame rates

Hello!
Just wondering what the best solution is for slow motion. The majority of my footage is shot on DSLRs in 1080 at 29.97fps, so this is my sequence and project setting, however, I also have some slow motion clips shot in 1080 at 96fps. I have tried selecting the slow motion clips to Modify, Interpret Footage, Assume this frame rate but for some reason it's not slowing down in the playback and the metadata is still saying the clip is shot in 29.97fps. Am I forgetting something?

Adobe Update Ran, Now PP CS4 No Longer Works with MPEG Files & More....

I think I know what this is but I thought I would make sure.
(Running CS4 Master Suite in Windows 7 Home Premium with 16GB Ram, i970 processor and six short stroked drives for cache, files, etc.)
Last night Adobe Updater popped up and wanted to do some installs. I had already been editing a project usine PrPro and AE for several hours so called it a night and initiated updater. This morning PrPro no longer recognizes my MPEG source files! Niether does AE or ME. In PrPro it hangs on "conforming." Did I get hit with the Revert to Trial bug? Could it be something else?
What I have done: cleared all cache files, rebooted, checked cache settings, rebooted, wiped deleted cache files, rebooted, cursed.

IMovie 11 - Working with two or more music clips for a slideshow

Hi,
I want to create a slideshow with about 300 pictures of my last vacation that has background music. The pictures should fade on beats.
What I did so far:
- I picked some music, dragged it to the project
- I opened the clip trimmer and marked the beats (by pressing m)
- I dragged my pictures to the project
iMovie did the trick and alligned the transition between the pictures to the beats. Nice. But after some time the music track is over and I need a new one. I dragged the next track to the project, added new beat marks but iM11 won't allign the pictures to the beat marks.
So the question is: can you somehow "restart" the allignment process?
Something else that remains unclear to me is how I'd manually switch between two music tracks. Say, I've got some pictures taken at the beach, then some taken in a church, ... Each picture sequence should have its own music.
I don't know, maybe my workflow with the beatmarkers is all wrong but I've no idea how to do this kind of movie in a different (better) way.

Working with JSSE using multi-purpose keystore

Hello,
I am currently working on an application which employs the JCA for providing signatures, authenticating users etc., but also working with JSSE.
More specifically: The application must be able to verify signatures on code packages created by known users and loaded at runtime; but for communication with other parts of the application, it shall use SSL connections.
Now I worked through the JSSE manuals and I was able to set up a simple SSL application with client and server, using all the getDefaults() I could get a hold on.
In the final application that I am working on, I will have a keystore with quite a lot of keys from users, public and possibly private ones, and also a key for the SSL communication. I have the strong feeling that I will not see many getDefault()s anymore.
My problem is that by looking at the API, I don't have any clue how to tell the JSSE which key to use for the SSL connection from the keystore holding possibly many keys of users.
Moreover, how do I pass the passphrase for unlocking the private key to the JSSE if it is not equal to the keystore password? (Which, by the way, seems to me to require passing via the command line - argh!)
Help would be greatly appreciated.

I've got it.
The secret is to create an own X509KeyManager. This key manager gets its keys from the keystore, so I have the chance to provide an alias which is intended to be used for SSL and to provide the key password.

Klipsch I S4i II headphones not working with OS7 WHY?

Does anyone know why my Klipsch Image S4i headphones now don't work with OS7? More specifically, the "Mute" and "Next Track Advance" function of the center button used to work with the prior OS, but since 'upgrading' to OS7.0.2 I lost the functionality...

MIne dont work either .I have a pair of ultimate ears plug in ( non blue tooth)earbuds. The cable contains the basic microphone module that is "in line" on most all of the earbuds designed for telephone /communications etc...
The microphone wont work on my iphone w/ OS 7..
The apple store associate says that its a glitsch in OS 7 software and will be corrected in a future upgrade.
Apple tech support person reached via apple support line said "we dont support third party devices.."
Everyone knows apple supplied plug in earbuds w/ mirophone are uncomfortable and many people have anatomical issues with their ears which make these ( and most otehrs) unusuable. Not to mention the poor-average audio quality for music. It would be sad if apple coud not support even a basic pair of aftermarket earbuds w/microphone. They have been around forever and are a basic, universally used accessory. Anyone know anything?

it's likely a hardware issue most people experience that the detector which indicate if there is a headset plugged in are activated all the time making their phone silent but your issue is likely the opposite
the cure if it exist would likely be the same as the stuck in headset mode
iPhone stuck in "headphones" mode
worst case would be repair

X11 on Leopard not working with two screens.

I have two screens on my Mac Pro and just upgraded to Leopard. X11 starts up on the main screen and any new X11 windows start up on that screen, which is fine, but then the window can not be moved to the other screen.
The window will overhang onto the second screen, but as you drag it over the window stops moving at the point that the mouse cursor reaches the edge of the main screen. The mouse cursor keeps going but the window stops.
Even if you then click on the portion of the window that is on the second screen, you can not then drag it the rest of the way into the second screen.
In Panther and Tiger I was able to move windows to the second screen.

I have also found that X11 does not work with 2 or more screens. I can not drag an X-Window to the 2nd screen at work (well maybe a few pixels onto the 2nd screen, that is all).
And I can not use the -geometry option on X-Windows based applications to position an X-Window onto the 2nd screen, it always ends up on the screen with the Menu Bar.
And this worked so wonderfully on Panther and Tiger.
I use my PowerMac G5 with dual 18" monitors at work. I develop kernel level software for Linux and Windows. I'm using X11 all day long when working with Linux systems both local and 2000 miles away (work has some nice in house bandwidth).
Being restricted to just a single monitor is a major limitation for my job. Having Mac OS X X11 support made it practical for me to use my Mac at work. Otherwise, I would have been forced to use a Windows box.

Does Mozy back-up work with Snow Leopard and File Vault turned on?

I have SL and also have turned File Vault on. I am wondering if Mozy online back-up will work with SL and more importantly, will it work if I have File Vault turned on?

Mozy works with Snow Leopard just fine. However, FileVault isn't supported well yet. From the release notes:
"If you are using FileVault, please turn off automatic and scheduled backups in the Mozy preferences. You will need to initiate the backup process manually while you are logged in. We are working on a better way to support FileVault."
If you stay logged in all the time, Mozy will function properly. If Mozy runs a backup while you are logged out, it isn't smart enough to do the right thing. FileVault mounts a disk image for your home folder when you're logged in and unmounts it when you log out. This causes Mozy to think you no longer need those files.
