Working with iWeb on a different computer

I started using iWeb on a laptop.  Now I need to continue using iWeb on a different computer.  How can I continue working on the website I created and not start again?

    The apple store is so unhelpful. I have an iMac computer operating on Mac OSX 10.5.8. I want to upgrade to the latest Mountain Lion operating system so I can work with the iCloud on my computer and download my emails. I can't seem to purchase this on-line as it keeps telling me to go to the app store. I haven't got the app store on my computer as I am told I need iCloud for which I need the new operating system, which I can't download or purchase as I am sent back to an instruction telling mee to go to the app store icon.
    How difficult can it be to simply purchase the software on-line have it shipped to you so you can install it, in the event it cannot be downloaded as it appears it can't be based on my curent operating systems being Mac OSX 10.5.8.

    Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from download, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $30.  You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number.

  • What are the web host options that will work with iWeb?

    What are the web host options that will work with iWeb?

    Most website hosting services will work with iWeb created sites so long as you choose a Linux account.
    If you are new to FTP, you should choose a host who has good 24/7 tech support in your language of choice.
    A couple of examples are shown here...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Website-Hosting.html
    The first one allows a trial period and a 30 day money back deal. The second has a free version which you can subsequently upgrade to a paid one with more facilities once you are satisfied with its performance. This means you don't have to commit or pay until you are satisfied and have learned the techniques.
    iWeb gives you two options for publishing via FTP...

    The latter method allows you to add tags for SEO...

  • Free (ad free too) hosting service that works with iWeb?

    Is there a free (and ad free, no pop ups banners or anything to make my site look ugly) hosting service that works with iWeb via FTP?

    Actually, now that Gmail offers IMAP service that's basically the answer to my prayers. Also, if you don't know about it already Google's Apps offers you the option of having email with your own domain hosted by Google. It's like Gmail but with any domain you want. Pretty awesome. I bought a domain for my whole family to use. Email is free, only thing that costs is the annual domain registration/renewal.

  • Updating iWeb from a different computer

    I cannot find a way to access my iWeb editing pages from a different computer (work desktop vs laptop). Is it even possible? Is there a "file sharing/permissions" thing I need to establish? When I open iWeb on the "other" computer is there a way to access what I've started on my laptop? Help! I'm so frustrated ...

  • Time Capsule Dual: Working with Excel files in Windows Computer

    We just purchased the latest-gen Time Capsule to replace another earlier edition TC and we are having a strange problem. We have three iMacs and one PowerBook G4 connected wirelessly to the TC, along with two Windows XP machines which are wired in to the TC. The issue is that the two WinXP machines cannot view Excel files from the TC. When they try to open and work with an Excel file from the TC, they get a message that there is not enough memory to open, work with, or save any Excel files and it won't let them open the Excel file at all. If they copy the file from the TC to the local WinXP computer, they can open it and work on it just fine. At first I thought the issue would be with the new TC, but I plugged back the old TC and it has the exact same problem. The only commonality between the two is that I foolishly updated the firmware on both to 7.4.1. The old TC was working just fine until I installed 7.4.1, and then it started to have the same problem handling the Excel files.
    By the way, none of the Macs have any problems accessing and working on the Excel files off the TC, this only happens to the WinXP machines. Also, it only happens on the Excel files; we have other types of files in the TC and all of them seem to open and work just fine. But Excel is our mainstay so we're looking for a solution, can anyone help?

    Same happened to me a while back when i updated the firmware 7.4.1 . the macs were ok but the Windows PC's sharing the Time capsule would not save any excel files as errors like memory too low
    etc started to appear. easy way to correct this was to got into airport Utility and downgrade back to 7.3.2 , from the menu , you can select what firmware rev you want to go back to select downgrade to 7.3.2 and everything will work ok after this, remember to deselect auto update and check for firmware in the Airport pref till Apple get this sorted out.

  • How to make in/out Port vis work with COM interface under different windows versions?

    Hello!
    I know that the accessHW is necessary for it, so I downlaoded the
    this file from the homepage of NI, but there are always some problems
    with it.
    My program should get the the voltage impulse between
    the pins DTR and RTS of a COM interface. After
    I installed accessHW under winNT, the voltage between them changed
    automatically from 0 mV to about 24 mV , and program
    worked well . But this way does not work under Win98 and Win2000,
    and this voltage is always 0 so that the device can not make any voltage
    impulse.
    Could someone give me a software solution for it? Thanks!
    P.S:The version of the labview I use is 6.1.
    Le

    You shouldn't depend on a voltage difference between the tow pins unless you need something like 24 volts and not 24 millvolts. All of the signal lines are referenced to ground and the signal lines usually swing between -3 to -12 and +3 to +12 volts. If you truly saw a 24 millivolt difference between two signal leads, then all that means is that they are both at the same logic state. A difference of 24 millivolts is not much and has to do with the UART in your computer and not accessHW I believe though maybe what happened is that the difference is 24mv when both are logic "1" and less when logic "0" or vice versa. If your device requires power from the serial port, then what you'll have to do is control the signal lines in your program and I
    would recomend VISA to do that instead of inport/outport. And check the voltage requirements of your device. If this is a device you designed, it should be designed for the lower voltages on new pc's and laptops. In other words, I would depend on 3 volt signals instead of 12. There are numerous references to either RS-232 or EIA-232 on the web. I think a review of the electrical specifications is needed.

  • What browsers work with iWeb 08?

    Specifically, no windows browsers work with my site. Safari for Windows does, but no other browsers do.
    Why is this the case?
    Is there a way to set iWeb to publish as a windows compatible site?
    If there is no way to cure this problem, the application is totally worthless to me, as only people with Macs will ever be able to see it correctly.

  • Do user-created recovery disks work with replacement HDD of different capacity?

    The original Seagate 250GB SATA HDD in my Pavilion G60-214EM notebook has completely failed (BIOS and other Windows machines cannot even see it). I replaced it with a Samsung 160GB SATA HDD but Recovery Manager on my user-created (DVD-R) recovery disk consistently fails at 2% of "Reformatting  the Windows partition of your hard disk drive". If I look at the resulting partitions from another machine I see a 10.61 GB NTFS 'RECOVERY' partition, an empty active primary NTFS partition of 37.12 GB and 101.31 GB still unallocated.
    Should the user-created recovery disks work if the replacement disk drive is smaller capacity than the original?
    Should they work with a larger capacity replacement drive?
    If not, can HP provide recovery disks that will work with a different capacity HDD?
    Thanks,
    --A

    Hi, I am the same predicament as you are From my experience thus far, the replacement disk drive space needs to be bigger or equal to the original HD space. (e.g.. I had a 640 gb OEM HD, I cannot install or factory reset the new 500 gb WD HD because it says its too small...)
    As for question 2, I am going to try to get a 1TB hard drive, though I don't know due to the prices and such. Will post back if I do.
    Question 3: I do not know, someone else may be more knowledgeable:/
    Hope this helps!

  • Which older browsers don't work with iWeb '08?

    I've created a new site in iWeb using a blog page as the default page. My wife couldn't see any of the blog entries using an older Mac and Safari 1.x. So that makes me wonder, what other older browsers are incompatible with iWeb?
    Specifically since so many Windows users are still stuck with IE6, I wonder if these users could see my site at all? If not, I'm going to have to re-create the site using other software.
    Would anyone who has access to IE6 for Windows be willing to check out http://www.gardensofstationpointe.com and let me know if you can see the blog entries listed?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for checking. I actually switched the site to RapidWeaver since I asked the question. I was afraid the original iWeb site wouldn't work with older browsers. I forgot to come back here and make note of it. Thanks.

  • Work with a table in different schema depending on the user group

    I have 2 groups of users user_group1, user_group2 and also two different schemas schema_group1,schema_group2 containing the same table names with a different content.
    Now, i have to write a stored procedure which takes user name as input and depending on which group the user belongs to, i want to work with table in that user_group schema.  i.e.(if user_group1 then "schema_group1"."table". if user_group2 then "schema_group2"."table" )
    i tried to set schema using dynamic sql but it seems that the schema is changing only after the end of the stored procedure.

    yes, i do maintain a table to map user groups with schema name.
    i have two tables:
    table-1: USERS(user_name, group_name)
    table-2: GET_SCHEMA(group_name, schema_name)
    // Just to make it simple(for testing purpose), i am directly assigning the schema_name inside the stored procedure.
    CREATE PROCEDURE "TEJA"."RETURN_SCHEMA_OF_USER" (IN IN_USER_NAME VARCHAR(30))
    LANGUAGE SQLSCRIPT
    AS
    BEGIN
         DECLARE VAR_USER_GROUP VARCHAR(20);
         --DECLARE VAR_SCHEMA_NAME VARCHAR(20);
         DECLARE SCHEMA_NAME VARCHAR(20);
         DECLARE SQL_STATEMENT VARCHAR(200);
         DECLARE VAR_TEMP VARCHAR(200);
         SELECT USER_GROUP INTO VAR_USER_GROUP FROM "TEJA"."USERS" WHERE USER_NAME =      IN_USER_NAME;
         --SELECT VAR_USER_GROUP AS USER_GRP FROM DUMMY;
         -- SELECT GROUP_NAME INTO VAR_SCHEMA_NAME FROM GET_SCHEMA WHERE GROUP_NAME =      VAR_USER_GROUP;
         -- Instead of above statement, i am directly assigning the schema_name below
         IF VAR_USER_GROUP = 'UNION' THEN
                SCHEMA_NAME := 'USER_UNION';
         ELSE
                SCHEMA_NAME := 'USER_CORPORATE';
         END IF;
         SQL_STATEMENT := 'SELECT * FROM "'||:SCHEMA_NAME||'"."USER_DETAILS"';
         --I have USER_DETAILS table in both the schemas.
         --SQL_STATEMENT := 'SET SCHEMA ' || :SCHEMA_NAME || ' ';
         --sets the schema after the stored procedure is executed.
         EXECUTE IMMEDIATE SQL_STATEMENT;
    END;
    This dynamic sql statement does the job for me, but i don't want to use dynamic sql in all my stored procedures. I need this kind of functionality in almost all of my stored procedures. So, i am looking for a better approach.  I really appreciate your valuable inputs.
    Thank you

  • Working with iweb and ATT webhosting

    I made my business website on iweb and downloaded it through FTP to my att webhosting site because it was simple and easy through iweb's step by step process.
    I'm new at website building and don't even understand the lingo when trying to read these blogs for more insight.
    I want to build beyond the basics such as adding meta tags and checking my site hits but I'm not sure if I do it through my webhosting account or through iweb.
    Anyone know where to go to find help how to work these two programs together?
    Apple tech only help with iweb and most of the ATT tech don't know how to work iweb so it's hit or miss when talking to them depending on who answers your call.

    To add meta tags to your site you need to do this in your site directly, but your published site so that it is added to the html code.
    Download a programme called iWebSEO. Go to iWeb and publish your site to a local folder and then open your published site with iWebSEO and add the tags, Google analytics etc., and anything else you want. Then use either iWebSEO to upload to your server or use a dedicated ftp client such as Cyberduck to do this - it can be downloaded for free from the internet.
    You can easily place a hit counter on your site by inserting the code into an html snippet on your site. Do a Google search for hit counters and you will have lots of choices.

  • Can I subscribe to Creative Cloud monthly, and still work with my Photoshop on my computer OFFline??

    Hi, I just got a new iMac, and was wondering if I should put my current PS CS5 from my macbook pro onto it, or should I just go with the monthly subscription? My issue is that I work with no internet a lot, and am worried that will be a problem. And if it is better for me to just keep my CS5, how do I get that onto my new iMac now that there are no disc drives to install? Thank you in advance.

    You can use prepaid 1 year Creative Cloud plan software offline as long as your computer is connected to the 'net every 99 days or less.

  • Does Yosemite work with iWeb ?

    I am happy using iWeb as I have successfully used in to create two sites. However, I am thinking of upgrading but am worried weather or not does Yosemite works well with iWeb or not ?
    So, if the are " issues", which incompatibilities do i need to look out for that are not already known in Maverick ?
    I currently use Maverick on a 2008 iMac, and am a fan of iWeb because there is so much help available on the internet, even though HTML is very out dated.

    iWeb works in Yosemite.

  • Cannot modify iWeb site on different computer

    Followed instructions on how to modify iWeb site on a different computer (went into the library->application support->iWeb and copied the "domain" file to the different computer. Opened iWeb = generic site instead of site we created. Double-clicked filename in list = box popped up asking me if I wanted to create a new domain or open an existing one, although it would not let me select the newly copied file from the list (grayed out).
    Any solutions?

    I haven't a second computer, but I have multiple users on my computer. They are all me, but my mac doesn't know that.
    I copied a domain file to another user account.
    As the other user, i double-clicked it to open the file, I could publish (to a folder) but I couldn't save the changes.
    It simply is a matter of permissions.
    Select the domain file in the Finder and type Cmd-I(nfo). In the info panel change the owner of the file.
    But that is not enough.
    The content of the file still has the previous owner's permission set.
    Control-Click/Right-click the domain file and choose 'Show package content'.
    Display the opended folder in list view and expand all folders. Do that by typing Cmd-A (Select all) and then press Cmd-rightarrow key to expnad the folders.
    Do select all again and repeat expand, until the file count stays the same.
    Do select all again and type Cmd-Alt-I(nfo) (Alt is also known as Option).
    Change the owner to the current user and select read/write from the menu.
    The domain file is now yours.
