Wrap an image into a sphere
Is there any to completely wrap an image into a sphere that starts from completely flat and animates into a globe shape. I am using the sphere filter in motion but cant completely upwrap it. The radius defaults to 400 and when I change radius to 1000 it never fully unwraps

BorisFX has a set of great 3D primitive filters that include this feture but it's not as easy as you might think.
Patrick Sheffield probably has invented a way to fake it using stacked layers of reiterative or self-referencial groups and prerenders to give the illusion of an evolving spherical wrap.
Search the forum for SPHERE and see if anyone else benefitted from Patrick's benevolence.

Correct workflow when inserting images into text, InDesign CS4
Hi,
I am new to InDesign and I have a problem regarding a really basic thing and I would be very grateful for help.
I am writing an article which is about 10 pages long. It consists mostly of text. I have finished writing and now I want to add some illustrations with descriptions. I've already figured out it's best to insert images into the text frame so they behave as "anchored objects" and they move together with text when I add or delete something on previous pages. Now I would like to place TWO OR MORE images, one next to each other, in a line. This is a bit tricky but I created an object style with Position: Custom in "Anchored object options" and it works more or less fine. This works great but now it would be hard to add descriptions to these images that would still be anchored.
So I created something different. I made an empty rectangle frame, a small text frame under it and grouped them. Then I placed it in my master text frame and basically did the same thing as for previously described images. Now I place the newly loaded image in the empty rectangular frame and add text in the empty text frame. BUT now I have problems with frame size for different-size images.
What if I have a REALLY LONG article and want to add LOTS of images with decriptions that would be anchored in the text so I can edit previous pages? I can do this my way, but it's extremely uncomfortable and takes ages. Is there any comfortable, non-destructive workflow for doing such things?

I would recommend following steps:
Place one or more images
Don't anchor them yet.
Arange them (the images) relatively to each other, add a text frame and arrange them correct relatively to the images.
Group images and text
Copy (or cut) them into the clippboard
Set the curser into the text where it should flow
Paste it
Adjust the anchored object (the group)
You need to group several objects to anchor them together as one anchor.
Further recommendation:
For the images I would specify an object style for fitting, stroke, corner optione.
For text frames I would specify an object style for text object options, like text offset, and used paragraph style, no boarder, etc.
For the group I would spcify an object style which leaves above mentioned settings undefined (option field is grea or has a dash). But the anchored position of the whole group and text wrapping should be specified.

InDesign CS3 Scripting XML Import Multiple Images into same Text Frame
I am having trouble importing multiple images into the same Text Frame using XML import. I imported 5 images into the text frame. However, all 5 images are laying on top of one another. Does anyone know if there is a way to have all images laying out like how Microsoft Word handles inline images, i.e., laying out next image to the right of previsous image in the same line and if there is not enough space left in the line, then wrap to next line. Thanks in advance. I understand I could use JavaScript to do post import processing, e.g, calculate the image size and place each images accordingly. But I am trying to see whether there is a way to do this without scripts.
You can apply an object style to all anchored images by script. A text frame containing main flow should be selected.

However, there is a better approach:
Step 1
Create place holders for a single "Book" element and format it as needed -- apply an object style to the cover.
Step 2
Import the xml file -- the placeholders are replaced with data from the 1st xml element
Step 3
Drag & drop the element containing all "Books" elements into the main flow -- all elements are placed and formatted the same way as in step 1.
Finally, add a new page, click the overset text icon and autoflow text to add pages so that to fit all the text.

Is it possible to place an Illustrator CS3 image into a text box in InDesign CS3 so that the text wraps around the image? I need the image to move along with the text so that I can make changes to the text. Normally, I would just place the image outside of the text box and apply a text wrap to it, however, I'm working on a 300 page document. The text and image need to flow together so I can make text changes. Any advice?
You can create an anchored object. This will move with the text on the page when anchored.
Draw an image frame and place the image, then copy the frame and paste it into the text frame at the insertion point.
This will then flow with the text around it.

Wrapping a Torus around a Sphere.
Hi,
I have created a Sphere & have successfully wrapped an image around it. I am now in the Process of trying to add Latitudes and Longitudes to it. To achieve this i have also drawn a Torus ( Circle )....
Will appreciate if someone can elaborate as to how i can now render the Torus over my Wrapped Sphere so that i can emulate / draw Latitudes & longitudes over it....

Krish.The part that baffles me is that it renders fine in a browser. Seems very strange that it won't render correctly in a mobile device.
whats baffling about this? your comparing oranges to apples and expecting them all to taste like bananas!
it seems perfectly logical to me that if you cannot get something to look the same across the board in web browsers (ie6 for instance) (and thats looking at the same resolution) that it WILL render differently in the myriad of phone based browsers, all at different sizes, different levels of css/html compatability. clearly this is obvious. -
Load/import images into layers to create animated gif in PE4
I'm trying to make an animated gif using Photoshop Elements 4.0.
I have numerous images (photos) that I need to insert into separate frames of one image.
(photo1, photo2 ..... photo10 - all combined in layers to create the frames of the animated gif)
I can open each photo separately, copy it, go the the animated gif image, create a new layer, and paste the image into the layer to create a frame in the animated gif. This is very time consuming.
Does Elements 4.0 allow for just opening/importing the separate images (photos) into the layers (frames) of the gif direclty? I remember having software that came with Macromedia Dreamweaver 4.0 in 2000 that made this simple and straight forward.We are not the right people to ask. The Touch forum (for tablet) is at

How to insert image into table and to in Oracle 9i intermedia?

thanks Mr Lawrence-- First step would be to create a directory in oracle and map it to the folder where your image resides.
create directory image_dir as *'c:\image_dir';*
Then you would have to use a procedure to insert the image in your table. SO first create a table to hold the image. Note that you have to use a BLOB to insert the image.

I am using Flash Builder 4.6, BlazeDS, and Hibernate. How to store a webcam snapshot into the MySql Database. I stored Form Items by using RemoteObject into the database. But I failed to store webcam snapshot. I captured that image on Panel component.I converted that image to ByteArray. Now I want to save that image into the database. Please help me in this regard.

But I failed to store webcam snapshot. I captured that image on Panel component.I converted that image to ByteArray. Now I want to save that image into the database. Please help me in this regard.

I've been having problems loading an image into an Applet. I've found that when the getImage() call is put into the init() method it loads the image fine, also implementing an imageUpdate call. However, now I'm trying to expand on this by putting it into a button click, it hangs indefinitely while waiting for the image to load.
Another interesting point I've noticed is that the Canvas subclass ImageSegmentSelector uses a PixelGrabber in its constructor to put the Image into a buffer - when this class is created from the imageUpdate() call, NOT the init() call, the grabPixels() call hangs indefinitely too!!

You can load a file if the applet itself is run from the local filesystem - it loads it fine from the init(), but not otherwise. But I haven't got the applet to run from a browser yet without crashing (it's OK in the IDE debugger), so that's the next step. -

Unable to load TIF images into Photoshop.
CS4 (11.0.2) and Windows 7 Home Edition.
Have developed a problem trying to load some TIF images into Photoshop. I have a large number of images archived over a decade or more. At this point it may some of the older files that exhibit the problem. Now all these files were edited and stored using the Photoshop versions during the complete time period. The files are always saved with no compression. Have tried to load from Photoshop and clicking on the file in a file list. Photoshop just hangs and I get the message Program not responding. I can take these same files and load them into the ROXIO photo editor with no problem. Stranger yet is if I simply load the file into the ROXIO editor then "save as" back into the same folder (overwrite) the file can then be brought into Photoshop with no problem! Any ideas?Noel,
Will try to keep short.
I reinstalled Photoshop CS4 from the cd CS set. Did not uninstall first. Restarted PC and Photoshop. Still failed the same way with a 3001 image.
Did the following, changing one item in the Edit->Preference->GPU Setting. After each change, closed Photoshop, reopened, brought in 3001 image, restored original setting. 3001 failed each time.

* Advanced setup: Unchecked Advanced Drawing.
* Advanced setup: Unchecked Color Matching
Next went to the Edit->Color Profile.
Scanned thru options and saw in the Convert Options: Engine. It was set to Adobe (ACE). ACE was the module name in the error detail!
Only other option for this is Microsoft ICM. Changed to that, close/open Photoshop and 3001 came in no problem. So did the Nikon 3000, srgb IEC 61922 2.1 and Untagged. However, when briging in an Adobe RGB(1998) image Photoshop notes Profile Mismatch. It allows me to decide what to do (use embedded profile instead of workspace; convert color to work space color; discard embedded profile. and I choose use the convert color and it loads ok. At least it loads the image! Will use this approach for now. I need to get educated on color profiles!!

I have a template that I am able to plug different pictures into at different times. The problem is that when I plug an image into that template, I find that the image is either too big or too small. Is there a way to plug the image into the template and resize the image (and not the template itself) OR will I have to go to the file with the original image and resize it there and then try to plug it in to the template to see if it fits------and if it does not fit, go back to the original file with the image and resize it again and see if that fits---and so on and so on...........? I have tried the" image size" option but it's hit or miss------mostly miss!

Jut create a Smart Object from the layer containing whatever it image it is that you are "plugging into your template". But you do need to learn the application at its most basic levels.

In my application I have to save image file (say jpg) into the database and retrieve back and display it on the applet. I am through with grabbing the pixels of the image & sending the pixel array to the servlet but I am struck in how to store the image into the database and retrieve the same.

I've been researching this problem (saving images in a MySQL database) in order to accomplish a task I was assigned to. Finally I was able to do it. I'd be glad if it will be of any use.
First of all: the original question was related to an applet. So, the post from rkippen should be read. It says almost everything, leaving the code job for us. Since I managed to write some code, I'll put it here, but I'm not dealing with the byte transferring issue.
To obtain a byte array from a file I'd open the file with FileInputStream and use a loop to read bytes from it and save them into a ByteArrayOutputStream object. The ByteArrayOutputStream class has a method named �toByteArray()� which returns an array of bytes (byte [] b = baos.toByteArray()) that can be transferred in a socket connection, as said by rkippen.
My problem was to save an image captured by a web camera. I had an Image object, which I converted into a byte array and saved into the database. Eventually I had to read the image and show it to the user.
The table in the MySQL database could be:

Loading an image into an Applet from a JAR file
Hello everyone, hopefully a simple question for someone to help me with!
Im trying to load some images into an applet, currently it uses the JApplet.getImage(url) method just before registering with a media tracker, which works but for the sake of efficiency I would prefer the images all to be contained in the jar file as oppossed to being loaded individually from the server.
Say I have a class in a package eg, 'com.mydomain.myapplet.class.bin' and an images contained in the file structure 'com.mydomain.myapplet.images.img.gif' how do I load it (and waiting for it to be loaded before preceeding?
I've seen lots of info of the web for this but much of it is very old (pre 2000) and im sure things have changed a little since then.
