Writing a simple XML editor

I need to write a simple XML/SVG code editor for my application. I basically want to display the contents of an XML DOM so that if the user changes the text in the editor the DOM will be updated to reflect this.
What would be the best way to do this?

Simple XML Editor

Is there a simple, FREE, XML editor out there (written in Java)?
I am using an XML file format for a small application I wrote, and I would prefer to edit the file using an XML editor, since it is easy to screw up the file in a text editor.
If you've used Forte or Netbeans, all I want is a simple XML editor like the one that is built into the IDE.

Vim works pretty good, its free, and has syntax highlighting. You would need to be familiar with using vi. http://www.vim.org/
If you use Eclipse, you can get http://www.oxygenxml.com/. It's not free, but its cheaper than XMLSpy.
I haven't found anything better than XMLSpy, even though its expensive.
Does anyone know of another tool that can generate a sample instance document from a schema, and/or a schema from an instance document? I find that handy in XMLSpy.

Simple WYSIWiG XML editor

Hello,
I try to write a simple XML editor using Swing. I have no problem processing the XML document itself (parsing XML, DTD and CSS) but now I need to display the parsed document and allow the user to edit it.
My idea is to use "decorators" configured at runtime (by the parsed CSS) wrapped around the DOM elements, but how should I display it and make it editable? I don't want to care about formatting if it's not really necessary - I'd like Swing to do as much of it as possible.

No, it is not built on top of Netbeans. The plugin framework is JPF(http://jpf.sourceforge.net) and the docking framework is vldocking(http://www.vlsolutions.com/en/products/docking/).
XPontus XML Editor is a standalone Java Swing application for now. The integration with Netbeans and Eclipse is planned for future releases. That will depends on the team's knowledge of Netbeans Platform and SWT.

NitroX XML editor

I'm using a dark scheme when using the PC for long hours.
The NitroX xml editor doesn't seem to have customization for the colors.
Is there some way to customize them?

It is very simple, goto Window > Preferences > Workbench > Colors and Fonts
on the right hand side panel expand Basic select Text Font and then click
Change button modify the values and dismiss Preferences you will start
seeing the relative changes for the editor

Build a xml editor using swing

I would like to know a simple way to build a xml editor using swing. The editor should present the xml in a tree structure, THe user should be able to modify the xml in the editor and save it.

You can map the attribute to buyer element in message mapping itself.

Iweb page modified with a simple html editor , now not display navigation menu

Hello i've designed a site http://www.ballettgastini.ch with Iweb and was working till i've the needs to update a simple text in one page and get it via ftp from the server, modified with a simple html editor !!!!, and update via ftp on the server. now the page do not diplay the navigation menu bar !!!! the page is here : http://www.ballettgastini.ch/stundenplan.html ... any suggesion ? i'm working now with a new imac with no possibility to modify the entire web site on the server...but the need it's really to change few text lines so i think to use a simple html editor... any ideas ? thanks luca giay turin italy

I need a simple XML DOM Example that reads in the XML and makes objects out of the elements. The tutorial from sun is very sketchy and seems to good far too quickly.

Looking for existing ABAP Text/XML editor

Is there any XML editor or Text Edit with an XML flavor in NW?
We need following function:
1. upload /edit/ save XML to some place.
2. we can retrieve it via some methods, or we can access via writing program.
If cannot find editor for all of the criteria, at least it match the first one,
Is anyone have experience in related area?

yeah, you are right, same in T-code "SPROXY", we could found an XML editor, but the method is used for PI(XI) only per comments from the function owner, and the methods are not public, the XML editor is only tiny part of the PI workbench, so it may not be suitable.
I would like to have a clean Text/XML editor.

JPanel which uses reflection to create a simple property editor

Hi everyone,
Here's what I'd like: a custom JPanel, let's call it DesiredJPanel, which can be passed an object as an argument, and which then detects all the public getters and setters on that object, and then creates a simple property editor, with default behavior for numbers, booleans, Strings, etc. It might be used like this:
JDialog dialog = new JDialog(new DesiredJPanel(someObjectWithSettersAndGetters)));
dialog.setVisible(true);
Then we'd get a dialog populated with the current values of all relevant properties. The panel could have a button bar, with an ok button. When you press it, all the properties of someObjectWithSettersAndGetters are set according to what the user has entered in the fields of the panel.
This seems like a pervasive, standard use case. It also seems like javabeans is intended for this. E.g. quoting wikipedia: "JavaBeans are reusable software components for Java that can be manipulated visually in a builder tool." Moreover, there is the java.beans.PropertyEditor interface.
And yet I can't find anything that seems to do this, so I end up writing the same boilerplate style code over and over. I found some commercial thing (this is for an open source project), and netbeans does what I'm after but it's netbeans. I want something that can be used in any swing app.
Apologies if I've overlooked something obvious or posted this to the wrong forum (if either, please let me know!).

Not exactly what you asked for, but reasonably close. You can use my [Bean Table Model|http://www.camick.com/java/blog.html?name=bean-table-model] to create a JTable which will display all the properties in a single row of a table. The appropriate renderer/editor is used for each property.
Play with the commented out code in JButtonTableModel class to see what you get for your particular bean.

Change over from a simple Xml call to a rpc-Http call ....

I need to change over from a simple Xml call:

to a rpc-Http call which is updating the readout if Xml is changed at any time.
I forgot to mention the most important item yet a very simple one: I need this only to be displayed in a title etc, and NOT a datagrid or else example below.

I had it all along as a commend noted: // Removed [0] on single node !
So instead of title="{urlsGeneral.urlGeneral.(@name==0).age} it would be now title="{resultObj.urlsGeneral.urlGeneral.[0].age} and now it works perfectly well. I hope that one or the other of you can use the answer and the code !!! regards aktell2007

i noticed that this is happending when the initial content is having something like 1235-7654 i removed all the '-' from be part of numerices then it works fine. if it is part of charachater nothing restricting. input xml content is wrapped with CDATA. pls give me suggitions what could be the workaround for it.

Is it possible to look into the "urTxtSTd" to check the style sheet settings? Or is it a way to use another stylesheet for displaying links inside this "Body" element?
