Writing data from array to file

May i know how to write string from a array into a file.
I have use string tokenizer to extract every line from a file using readline and use stringtokenizer to spilt the line using tab delimiter for processing.
But if i want to write data from array to file with tab as a delimiter and how to go to the next line. How do i do that. Below is the task and i have state a simple example on a array i have and the file output that i want.
Pls advice.. Thanks
eg of a array
array[0] = Data
array[1] = One
array[2] = Data
array[3] = Two
array[4] = Final
array[5] = Data
From the above array, i want to write to a file so that it will appear something as below
Eg textfile.txt
Data One
Data Two
Final Data
PLs attached a simple code as a example as i am only begining to start useing the IO feature in java. Thanks

Really thanks for your help,
but u are mentioning that i have already know the number of countters in advance , that is to say the 2 * counters.
But is there a way to solve this problem which i mean if i dun know the number of predefined counters. Maybe i should say, there is more than 2 counters and in another situation, the counters will only be defined during runtime. Actually the solution u give will work nicely with 2 counters. but wat if the counter is more than 4, i wll have to concatenate the string a lot of time. so is there any solution around this problem. That why i am wandering if tere is any solution to write to the file when the counters can be only determined in runtime
Pls advice on the above with a code samples if possible.

    Hi All,
    I have a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file and i want to write its data in to the table.
    How can i get data from a CSV file.

    As Karthick suggested, you can use External Tables or Sql Loader functionality
    You can check this link for example on Sql Loader http://surachartopun.com/2007/10/example-sql-loader-some-data-into.html

    The problem is in the delimiters in your text file. By default, Read From Spreadsheet File.vi expects a tab delimited file. You can specify a delimiter (like a space), but Read From Spreadsheet File.vi has a problem with repeated delimiters: if you specify a single space as a delimiter and Read From Spreadsheet File.vi finds two spaces back-to-back, it stops reading that line. Your file (as I got it from your earlier post) is delimited by 4 spaces.
    Here are some of your choices to fix your problem.
    1. Change the source file to a tab delimited file. Your VI will then run as is.
    2. Change the source file to be delimited by a single space (rather than 4), then wire a string constant containing one space to the delimiter input of Read From Spreadsheet File.vi.
    3. Wire a string constant containing 4 spaces to the delimiter input of Read From Spreadsheet File.vi. Then your text file will run as is.
    Depending on where your text file comes from (see more comments below), I'd vote for choice 1: a tab delimited text file. It's the most common text output of spreadsheet programs.
    Comments for choices 1 and 2: Where does the text file come from? Is it automatically generated or manually generated? Will it be generated multiple times or just once? If it's manually generated or generated just once, you can use any text editor to change 4 spaces to a tab or to a single space. Note: if you want to change it to a tab delimited file, you can't enter a tab directly into a box in the search & replace dialog of many programs like notepad, but you can do a cut and paste. Before you start your search and replace (just in the text window of the editor), press tab. A tab character will be entered. Press Shift-LeftArrow (not Backspace) to highlight the tab character. Press Ctrl-X to cut the tab character. Start your search and replace (Ctrl-H in notepad in Windows 2000). Click into the Find What box. Enter four spaces. Click into the Replace With box. Press Ctrl-V to paste the tab character. And another thing: older versions of notepad don't have search and replace. Use any editor or word processor that does.

  • Delete data from a flat file using PL/SQL -- Please help.. urgent

    Hi All,
    We are writing data to a flat file using Text_IO.Put_Line command. We want to delete data / record from that file after data is written onto it.
    Please let us know if this is possible.
    Thanks in advance.
    Vaishali

    There's nothing in UTL_FILE to do this, so your options are either to write a Java stored procedure to do it or to use whatever mechanism the host operating system supports for editing files.
    Alternatively, you could write a PL/SQL procedure to read each line in from the file and then write them out to a second file, discarding the line you don't want along the way.

    HI Martin,
    i am not realy sure what you want!?!?
    i think you want to display only a part of the values you read from XYZ
    so what you can do:
    write all the values in an array.
    the size of the array is the max. value of the slide bar
    now you can select a part of the array (e.g. values from 100 to 200) and display this with a graph
    the other option is to use the history function of the graphes

  • How to parse data from a text file with no convenient delimiters?

    I need to read data from a text file.  This file contains one line of data with the repeating pattern "time 00 ADVar2: ___ Height: ____ time 01 ADVar2: ___ Height: ___ ..."  I need LabView to parse out the "time" and "height" values, build an array with the values, and graph the correlation on an X&Y plot.  Does Labview have an automated way to read to the input data file and parse out the correct values, even without convenient delimiters?  Thank you.

    You actually do have a convenient delimiter: "time". Thus, you can make an array using that as the delimiter. Only caveat is that the first array element will be empty. Then you can conveniently use the Scan From String function in a for-loop. Something like this:

  • Populate a table reading the data from a TXT file

    how can I populate a table reading the data from a TXT file?
    thanks

    Hey Kevin!
    Using FORMS.TEXT_IO to bulk load data from a file strikes me as re-inventing the wheel. It is just about justifiable in a self-service environment, but I regard the EXTERNAL TABLE is a better solution for that situation as well.
    The same applies to UTL_FILE. I think the ability to read text with UTL_FILE is primarily intended for read file-based configuration or file manipulation/processing rather than data loading.
    Re-writing a text file into SQL statements is too much like hard work (even with an editor that supports macro definition and regular expressions) for no real benefit. You lose all the bulk load peformance you would get from SQL*Loader. But for QAD I'd probably let you off with it.
    You missed out one obvious alternative: using Java to turn the contents of an XML file into a CLOB and inserting it into a table which is read by a PL/SQL procedure that parses the XML records and insert the retrieved data into a table.
    Stay lucky, APC

  • Using HTTPService to import data from a XML file

    Hello there!
    I'm having some problem's with this import... If anyone can
    help, I would appreciate it!
    I'm using this type of information as data source:
    public var dataCollection:ArrayCollection =
    new ArrayCollection([
    { id: "P1", name: "Porto", type: "team", children: [
    { id: "R1", name: "Dr Silva", location: "Bloco 1", type:
    "member" },
    { id: "R2", name: "Dra Neto", location: "Gabinete", type:
    "member"
    { id: "P2", name: "Braga", type: "team", children: [
    { id: "R3", name: "Dr Santos", location: "Bloco 2", type:
    "member" },
    { id: "R4", name: "Dra Sonia", location: "Piso 1", type:
    "member"
    But I want to import it from a XML file like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <items>
    <item id="P1" name="Porto" type="team">
    <children id="R1" name="Dr Silva" location="Bloco 1"

    <children id="R4" name="Dra Sonia" location="Piso 1"
    type="member" />
    </item>
    </items>
    I already import the file, but can not translate the data
    into a array collection.
    private function initApp():void {

    private function onResultHttpService(e:ResultEvent):void
    //Convert the xml data to a array collection
    Thank you

    Hello Peter, and thank you for your reply's.
    My problem is that I'm receiving the data from the external
    file and I don't know how to get the children in place... I mean, I
    also have some data being received form a file that I can convert
    into an array collection, but the thing is, that file doesn't have
    children structure...
    It's something like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <items>
    <item id="T1" resourceId="R1" name="Cardiologia"
    startTime="25-3-09 8:0:0" endTime="25-3-09 8:30:0" />
    <item id="T2" resourceId="R2" name="Raio-X"
    startTime="25-3-09 9:0:0" endTime="25-3-09 9:15:0" />
    <item id="T3" resourceId="R3" name="Analises"
    startTime="25-3-09 12:0:0" endTime="25-3-09 12:45:0" />
    <item id="T4" resourceId="R4" name="Consulta"
    startTime="26-3-09 8:0:0" endTime="26-3-09 9:0:0" />
    </items>
    And I solve it with this (don't know if is the best):
    private function onResultHttpServiceTask(e:ResultEvent):void
    var a:Array = xmlListToObjectArray(e.result.item);
    tasks = new ArrayCollection(a);
    protected function
    xmlListToObjectArray(xmlList:XMLList):Array
    var a:Array = new Array();
    for each(var xml:XML in xmlList)
    var attributes:XMLList = xml.attributes();
    var o:Object = new Object();
    for each (var attribute:XML in attributes)
    var nodeName:String = attribute.name().toString();
    var value:*;
    value = attribute.toString();
    o[nodeName] = value;
    a.push(new ObjectProxy(o));
    return a;
    But when the children "enter in action" I don't know how to
    bring them to the array...
    This code you send it's preaty much the thing I need, but the
    thing is that I don't know how to call the children with data as
    e:ResultEvent...
    If you can help a bit more, I would really appreciate...
    Thank You

    ok, I fixed my program per your suggestion and I still cannot get it to work. I get the same result where the ouput is just a bunch of boxes. • Average Data from multiple text files

    I am new to labVIEW hence a little help is appreciated:
    I have a 100 txt files with two columns (tab separated) for X and Y value.
    I need to average the Y values to generate one single txt file and generate X versus Y graph.
    So how do I read the data from these text files? (without having to select each one of them individually) and how to average the data and create a XY graph from it?
    Thanks in advance

    Use X-Y Graph.
    You were able to get two arrays of X and Y points from text file right?

    There are so many things wrong with this VI, I'm not even sure where to start.
    Hard-coding paths that point to your user folder on the block diagram. What if somebody else tries to run it? They'll get an error. What if somebody tries to run this on Windows 7? They'll get an error. What if somebody tries to run this on a Mac or Linux? They'll get an error.
    Not using Read From Spreadsheet File.
    Use of local variables to populate an array.
    Cannot insert values into an empty array.
    What if there's a line missing from the text file? Now your data will not line up. Your case structure does handle this.
    Also, how does this answer the poster's question?

  • Too big switch - get data from array

    I have text file (CSV). Parse file and set data to array, e.g. ArrayList. Get data from array and initialize object MyDoc (by setXXX methods)
         for (int index = 0; index < list.size(); index++) {
                   currentElement = list.get(index);
                   switch (index) {
                   case 0:
                        myDoc.setField1(currentElement);
                        break;
                   case 1:
                        myDoc.setField2(currentElement);
                        break;
                   case 70:
                        myDoc.setField70(currentElement);
                        break;OK. But problem is that object MyDoc have many fields (70 fields). And "switch" become to big. (70 setXXX methods). Can I set fields to object MyDoc without "switch"?

    Just don't use a switch. It is not really helping any in this case.
    you can just do all the calls explicitly.
    Like so
    myDoc.setField1(list.get(0));
    myDoc.setField2(list.get(1));
    myDoc.setField70(list.get(69));I might convert the list to an array first simply because it seems more natural to me.
    I'm not too sure if it really matters all that much if list is an ArrayList.
    String[] values = list.toArray();
    myDoc.setField1(values[0]);
    myDoc.setField2(values[1]);
    myDoc.setField70(values[69]);you should check that toArray() call, I might not have the correct method I'm kind of doing this off the cuff.I think it is second thoughts day.
    I don't like the hard coded numbers. what I wrote should have defined constants for those values.
    static final int FLD1 = 0;
    static final int FLD70 = 69;
    String[] values = list.toArray();
    myDoc.setField1(values[FLD1]);
    myDoc.setField2(values[FLD2]);
    myDoc.setField70(values[FLD70]);

    forgot the constants

  • View Object to read data from a java file

    Hi,
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.4 and ADF-BC in my application.
    For one of my view objects , I want the data to be read from a java file which exposes some method to return a collection.
    I cannot use a static view object in this case.
    Please suggest the best way to implement this requirement.Basically build a view object that should read data from a java file.
    Thanks,
    Praveen

    Depending on your use case you can either use a programmatic VO or directly expose the JV class as a data control.
