Writing defaults to inf file

I want to programatically change some default control values. Searching the forums tells me that the invoke node won't handle changing defaults on a running vi. It looks like using an .inf file will be the best method. I've used this before for storing some path information.
The examples available for writing and reading to .inf shows string, number and boolean.  My question is though, how do I store and retrieve the values in the control, attached (LV8.0)? Particularly the Trigger slope and trigger source controls.

  • Error in Windows 8 default Broadcom netb57vx.inf file?

    Hello all,
    We are trying and failing to install Windows 8 32bit enterprise on some older machines that use a Broadcom b5786 NIC. Hardware Id PCI\VEN_14e4&DEV_169A&SUBSYS_101f17AA. We can install Windows 8 from a USB stick and Windows
    finds the NIC and tries to load the default driver which fails with the error "A service installation section in this inf is invalid".
    I can manually load the Windows XP version of the driver ok and this would be ok except that the Windows 8 boot.wim file has the same problem (same files) and I am unable to get the XP driver to load which means we cannot use WDS for
    deployment and support.
    I have tried removing the offending file(s) from the boot.wim file and installing the XP version of the driver which gets me closer but when booting it is unable to locate the dhcp server.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Graeme

    I think I've got it. There was no file copy command in the section of the inf below. The drivers downloaded from Broadcom and the netb57vx.inf file were missing the CopyFiles line in:
    [BCM5787A1eStar_LHinst.NTx86.6.1]
    Characteristics = 0x84 ; NCF_HAS_UI | NCF_PHYSICAL
    AddReg          = LH_AddReg, Intr_coal, BCM5750.Params, ParamsNt, ParamsNT8021p, ParamsNtW9x, ParamsC, ParamsWOLeStar, ParamsWireSpeed, ParamsLgSnd, ParamsPM
    CopyFiles       = CopyFile_Binary
    BusType         = 5
    *IfType         = 6             ; IF_TYPE_ETHERNET_CSMACD
    *MediaType      = 0             ; NdisMedium802_3
    *PhysicalMediaType = 0          ; NdisPhysicalMediumUnspecified
    AddReg = ParamsNtv6Tx, ParamsGSOv4
    Adding the CopyFies line so the section looked like above got the later drivers to install in Windows 8 but didn't work in the boot.wim file as the driver files are in a different place. I updated the netb57vx.inf file in the Windows\inf directory
    but maybe should have updated the one in windows\system32\driverstore\filerepository. I mounted the boot.wim file and copied the driver files (b57nd60x.sys & b57nd60x.cat) into the Windows\System32\drivers folder , committed the changes and
    got network connectivity with WDS and PXE.
    Hope this helps others.

  • Writing in INF file  Problem!

    Hi
    I've successfully read from INF file by the following code :
        public String Read_INI(String Path , String Attribute)
            Properties p = new Properties();
            try
                p.load(new FileInputStream(Path));
            catch (Exception e)
                    System.out.println(e);
            return p.getProperty(Attribute);
        }Now I'm facing a problem in writing in INF file
    i used this code but it doesn't work!
        public void Write_INI(String Value, String Attribute, String Path)
            Properties p = new Properties();
            try
                   p.load(new FileInputStream(Path));
                   p.setProperty(Attribute, Value);
            catch (Exception e)
                    System.out.println(e);
        }any ideas ?

    thnx very much :)
    just i added :
                   p.store(new FileOutputStream(Path), Value);after :
         p.setProperty(Attribute, Value);

  • A question about CPS (CPS processing) and CAPolicy.inf file.

    Hello All
    Can someone please help me with the following question.
    Background, I am building a 3-tier PKI infrastructure. offline Root, offline Policy (intermediate), online issuing.
    Now my first question is about CPS (certificate practice statement) for this example lets just call this the InternalIssuancePolicy as below.
    Basically I was thinking it is best not to set a given certificate (aka issuance) policy at the Root, the reason being I may wish to have different issuance policies at a latter date.
    For example right now I just want an issuance policy (CPS) for internal certificates only, therefore I am thinking set this at the Policy CA level, as below [InternalIssuancePolicy] (example OID) and then issuing CA certs from this Policy CA to the
    internal issuing CAs. If at a latter date I want a different policy (CPS) for issuance of external certificates I can build a new Policy CA under the existing Root with a different policy extension.
    Is the above logic sound?
    Questions:
    I am assuming from recent study that the CA cert issued to the Issuing CA will contain a single issuance policy "only" i.e. the one that was specified in the Policy CA 1.3.6.1.4.11111111.1.1.1.  If so I believe you cannot build a new
    issuing CA and submit the CSR to the Policy CA asking for a CA cert with any other certificate policy extension other than 1.3.6.1.4.11111111.1.1.1
    Is that correct?
    Also
    I saw a blog post which stated if are going to use certificate/issuance policies (other than all issuance policies) you should mark the extension as critical=true otherwise the policy just becomes glorified comment. I take the point but that leads me to
    two more questions
    1: How does the certificate changing engine or CryptoAPI enforce a certificate policy (as it is just a policy, e.g. written procedure). I am assuming all this means is it forces the client to process the extension and therefore check the certificate
    policy extension in the certificate does not violate the certificate chain but that is all it can do?
    2: If the certificate policy extension is set to critical and the URL referenced in the extension is not available (e.g. on a WEB Server and the client is working offline, but has a cached CRL), does setting the extension to critical also force the
    client to try and access the URL listed, or not (I am assuming not as you could just have a text block rather than URL).
    Any comments suggestions on my proposed three CAPolicy.inf files below for the 3-tier PKI (again offline Root and Policy)

    > Is the above logic sound?
    not that much. In this case 3-tier PKI could be reduced to 2-tier. Make default Offline Root CA and below it issuing CAs with desired policy OIDs. You will combine issuing CA with policy CA functionality. Additional tier will cost you a license, administration
    overhead and increased certificate chain processing delays. There is nothing wrong if you combine policy CAs with issuing.
    > I saw a blog post which stated if are going to use certificate/issuance policies (other than all issuance policies) you should mark the extension as critical=true
    where did you get this? Certificate policies should not be marked critical. Certificate chaining engine will take care of it, when application reqests CCE to validate desired policy.
    > does setting the extension to critical also force the client to try and access the URL listed
    no. Certificate chaining engine do not inspect policy qualifier URLs.
    > Any comments suggestions on my proposed three CAPolicy.inf files below for the 3-tier PKI (again offline Root and Policy)

    [PolicyStatementExtension]
    Policies = AllIssuancePolicy
    Critical = FALSE
    [AllIssuancePolicy]
    OID = 2.5.29.32.0
    these sections are not required in root CA.

    critical=true
    These sections are not required at policy CA. Afaik, CDP and AIA extensions are not supported in non-root CA configuration files. The same is with issuing CA. And your issuing CA is missing PolicyStatementExtension section.

  • How do I uninstall the .inf file (for USB)

    I read here how to create and install an .inf file:
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/6792BAB18242082786256DD7006B6416?opendocument
    Before I start... How do I uninstall it if required?

    Hey Viking,
    If you installed a driver for the device then all you have to do is uninstall the driver. For example if I wanted to use a DAQPad I would just uninstall NI-DAQ.
    However, Windows ships with drivers for several USB devices. In this case you have a few options. After creating your .inf file and installing it you can go to the device manager and click update driver for the device and then manually select the .inf file you created instead of the default one that windows uses.
    You could also search the inf files on your computer (normally at C:\Windows\inf) for a file that contains your specific vendor and device ID. Then comment out the line that references your device.
    I hope this helps out.

  • Question on CAPolicy.inf file and post-installation script

    I'm preparing a small PKI implementation with a single Enterprise Root CA on Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise.
    The primary role of this CA is to provide certificates for about 20 laptops that will use the certificates for authentication to a wireless network.
    I have prepared a CAPolicy.inf file and a post installation script (below).
    Renewal period for the root cert should be 10 years, CRL publication every 2 days with Delta publication every 12 hours (details in scripts below).
    I want to make sure the AIA and CRL url commands are correct.
    Does this look correct?
    AIA
    1:%WINDIR%\System32\CertSrv\CertEnroll\%%1_%%3%%4.crt
    This should publish the CA certificate to the local file system "certenroll".
    2:ldap:///CN=%%7,CN=AIA,CN=Public Key Services,CN=Services,%%6%%11
    This places the LDAP url in the AIA extension of issued certs.
    I am not planning to use HTTP, hence its absence.
    CRL
    1:%WINDIR%\System32\CertSrv\CertEnroll\%%3%%8%%9.crl
    This publishes the CRL to the local file system ("certenroll" subfolder).
    10:ldap:///CN=%%7%%8,CN=%%2,CN=CDP,CN=Public Key Services,CN=Services,%%6%%10
    Indicates CDP in AD DS and includes CDP url in issued certificates.
    Complete scripts
    1. CAPolicy.inf - %windir%
    [Version]
    Signature= "$Windows NT$"
    [certsrv_server]
    renewalkeylength=2048
    RenewalValidityPeriodUnits=10
    RenewalValidityPeriod=years
    CRLPeriod = days
    CRLPeriodUnits = 2
    CRLDeltaPeriod = hours
    CRLDeltaPeriodUnits = 12
    LoadDefaultTemplates=0
    2. Install Role
    Follow steps in GUI here
    3. Run post-install script
    certutil -setreg CA\DSConfigDN CN=Configuration,DC=mydomain,DC=local
    certutil -setreg CA\CRLPeriodUnits 2
    certutil -setreg CA\CRLPeriod "days"
    certutil -setreg CA\CRLDeltaPeriodUnits 12
    certutil -setreg CA\CRLDeltaPeriod "hours"
    certutil -setreg CA\ValidityPeriodUnits 10
    certutil -setreg CA\ValidityPeriod "Years"
    certutil –setreg CA\CACertPublicationURLs "1:%WINDIR%\System32\CertSrv\CertEnroll\%%1_%%3%%4.crt\n2:ldap:///CN=%%7,CN=AIA,CN=Public Key Services,CN=Services,%%6%%11"

    certutil -setreg CA\csp\DiscreteSignatureAlgorithm 1
    certutil -setreg CA\AuditFilter 127
    net stop certsvc & net start certsvc
    certutil -crl
    Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you.

    A couple of things (just a quick glance)
    1) CAPolicy.inf
    Everything looks fine in this file. You will have a 2 day base crl and 12 hour delta CRLs. No default templates are loaded, so you must manually designate all published certificates
    2) Post install Script
    a. Best practices are to use HTTP only, not to use LDAP, so your whole design does not follow best practices. Furthermore, if you issue a certificate to a single, non-domain joined machine, they will be unable to evaluate your certificates. If you decide
    to do VPN (or use an internal SSL cert on an externally accessible Web server), revocation checking will fail because you do not publish AD to the external world
    b. Will you be issuing 10 year certificates from the CA. These lines:
    certutil -setreg CA\ValidityPeriodUnits 10
    certutil -setreg CA\ValidityPeriod "Years"
    define the maximum validity period of certs issued *by* the CA. For example, if a certificate template states 4 years, then a four year will be issued (less than 10 years). If a template state 12 years, then the max age will be 10 years. Think of it as a
    governor.
    c.CACertPublicationURLs . This should include an HTTP URL, and if you want to still include LDAP, HTTP should be prior to the LDAP URL.
    d. CRLPublicationURLs. This should include an HTTP URL. If you want to still include LDAP, HTTP should be prior to the LDAP URL. Your checkbox value for the LDAP URL is incorrect as well. For a CA that issues both base and delta CRLs, you must have a value
    of 79 (all check boxes enabled). Your current configuration would fail for revocation checking because you do not publish the base or delta CRL to AD. There is another check box missing (I believe the one to include the URL in the base CRL's freshest CRL extension
    (how to find the delta CRL).
    e. Do not include the DiscreteSignatureAlgorithm line in the script. If you have any Windows XP clients, they will not be able to use the certs (BTW, this should have been AlternateSignatureAlgorithm in my book - where you sourced your scripts). This would
    only be used on a CA where you used something like Elliptical Curve as the assymetric algorithm and SHA384 as the signature algorithm).
    f. The restart line should be net stop certsvc && net start certsvc. The double && ensures that the service comes to a complete stop before the start command is executed.
    HTH,
    Brian

    First of all, use [code]-tags to make your code readable, please.
    I didn't do a complete inspection of your code (because it's too much and unreadable as it is) and I don't know POI, but creating a new HSSFWorkbook for each input file sounds fishy to me ... try re-using the workbook and just creating a new sheet in each iteration.

  • Which inf file to use for HP LaserJet Pro 200 color m251nw, when updating the driver?

    My printer is LaserJet Pro 200 color Printer M251nw. I visited the support page and found there is a newer driver.
    Driver (61.117.01.15301)
    Currently my driver version is 61.117.1.11493. I want to upgrade the driver.
    After downloading and unzipping the files into the folder, I found there are 3 inf files in the folder:
    hpcm251u.inf
    hpcm251c.inf
    hpbuio70l.inf
    So which one should I install? I am disappointed at the lack of information and inconvenience in upgrading the driver.

    Hi CJKim,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
    I see that you are trying to update the driver and are not sure which .inf to choose.
    I will be happy to help you.
    Since it is running through the add printer wizard you can select any one of the .inf files you listed
    to update the drivers.
    Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
    Have a great day.

  • Win 7 can't find inf file through network.

    I have an old hp G85 that works great. i have the printer connected via usb to a computer that is running windows xp and that computer is connect via network cable into the wireless router. my other laptop is running win xp and works fine using a wireless card, i can print through the computer to the printer just fine. my new laptop can see the printer but it is looking for an inf file to install the printer. when i connect the printer to the laptop by the usb cable the computer can locate and install the printer but once i disconnect the cable and try to print and i get a print error.  i tried to download an install exe file but it doesn't like my win 7 os. any suggestions? i don't want full function operations of the printer, i just want to print through my network.

    "when i connect the printer to the laptop by the usb cable the computer can locate and install the printer but once i disconnect the cable and try to print and i get a print error."
    After connecting the printer to the new laptop with Win 7 installed and installing the driver, did you go into the print driver properties and make sure the printer was connected to the shared printer port (Example: \\winxplaptop\oj85) rather than the local (USB) port for printing?

  • How do I set the default folder for file - open file... ?

    When I save a file, photo, etc., the default folder for OPENING a file becomes the last folder I SAVED to - even after closing and reopening Firefox. Is there a way to maintain the same default folder for opening files?
    Thanks.

  • I can't open an autorun.inf file on my macbook, what should I do?

    I have a problem because I want to open a CD that has autorun.inf documents on it. It is actually a CD that has drivers lisence tests on it and it is definitely not just written text. I read on the Internet that it can only be opened on Windows. Please tell me this is not true since this is the only computer I own. Thanks in advance

    Definitely Windows only  >  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autorun.inf
    Mac OS X cannot read an .inf file.

  • Mac Pro/Boot Camp - inf files for Windows XP & Apple 23¨ cinema displays

    have a Mac pro with the ATI video card. I have installed Boot Camp 1.1 and can boot to win XP or Mac ok when I use a dell monitor for win xp. If I use the apple displays, the screen often doesn't turn on at all - just black screen though it has booted to win XP as I can type in my password and hear it log in. If I boot to Mac and then change to Win, it sometimes displays Win XP OK. However, when it does do that, it dosn't recognise the Apple Display - rather it is a plug and play monitor with lousy resolution. Are there .inf files for the Apple Displays to work properly on XP?

    Try WinAcd <http://sourceforge.net/projects/winacd/>

  • Can't get Printer to Share need INF file

    I have a HP 6500 E709n All in One Printer and I cannot get it to share. I have it connected to my Computer running Win 7 and I want to share the Printer with my Laptop running Vista. I cannot set it up to share,  I get 2 error messages all the time the one is:
    The file "INF" on (Unknown) is needed   I cannot find the INF file and can't download it. The other error messages I get is:
    The Print Spooler has stopped working and was closed  or the other error message is:  Spooler Subsystem APP stopped working and was closed.
    When I check the Print Spooler In Services it is on Started and on Auto, how do I get rid of these error messages that appear all the time and get my Printer to share to my Laptop? As a point of information the Printer is set up correctly to share.
