WRVS4400N ongoing issues

Gentlemen,
may I rise some ongoing issues about WRVS4400N V1.1 (FW: latest: V1.1.13-ETSI):
- Bug: The general log logs the events without daylight saving time (in opposite to the IPS log which shows the time correctly)
- Router Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) Signature-1.42 (03/JUN/2010) is now more than a year old! Hard to imagine, that it is still up-to-date. I would rather expect, that it will be updated every month at least, if not automatically at all! And despite several promises in this blog, CISCO did not update it up to now.
- Latest Firmware (WRVS4400N v1.0 and v1.1 firmware version 1.1.13, 25/FEB/2009) is even more than 2.5 years old. Is there any intention by CISCO to still support the V1.1 version??
May CISCO provide a comment on these, I would very much appreciate.

It's the first thing I did, I tried with a spare WAG300N (modem/router) and it connects but gives some errors too before connecting...
That's why I think the problem comes from the provider even if the other modem connects it gives the same kind of errors as you can see in this logs... (Probably a question of tolerance)

  • WRVS4400N - firmware issues and IPS signature update messages

    On my WRVS4400N with Firmware Version: V1.1.03 I keep getting the message:
    "Your Signature Version is beyond xxx days. Please Update it!"
    Cisco/Linksys: about time to update the IPS signature, because I always have the latest available, but you don't update it anymore.
    Besides: there are a lot of known issues with this router, but you don't provide us with a new firmware. OK, I did find a beta WRVS4400N_v1108.img on rapidshare, but is this really a Linksys beta? Why don't you publish updates anymore?
    I am very disappointed by your service on this matter :-(

    Hi Tom,
    Last night I reset the setting to factory default, reinstalled firmware v2.0.2.1 and then restored my settings I backed up. Everything worked great after that but this morning it was down again. Same thing, no network and can't log into the router and forced to cycle the power.
    As a "way out there" guess, are there any compatibility issues with certain switches? One thing I did change the past few days was that I took out an older cheap 8-port D-Link Gigabit switch which was maxed-out and replaced it with a Netgear ProSafe 16-port Gigabit switch (model JGS516).
    Another thing that has changed is that I have added another network by cascading a D-Link DIR-655 wireless router. I have the WAN port of this router connected to a LAN port on the WRVS4400N router. The WRVS4400N router is using IP 192.168.21.x (subnet mask 255.255.255.0) and the other router is set to 192.169.10.x (subnet mask 255.255.255.0). I may be wrong but I can't see this being an issue. ANy ideas?

  • Hi, anyone know how to make a complaint without going through technical support or speaking to a senior sales advisor as i have an ongoing issue since February and still I am unable to get it resolved

    I recently got a replacement iPhone 4s due to a fault occuring with the phone and the replacement 4s that I received is turning off serveral times throughout the day by itself, I have been speaking to customer relations and technical support since the start of February in relation to my complaint and I seem to be getting a major runaround and still hae not had my issue resolved, is there anwhere else or even an email I can send my complaint to without going through those departments as I find the staff to be very unhelpful and also rude and aparently there are not managers working in Ireland at all only in the US, as I was told by a senior advisor yesterday

  • Ongoing Issue Connecting Playbook to Laptop via USB

    I have never been able to get my PB to work via the USB cable, meaning I have had to do all file transfers through wi-fi , which is incredibly slow.  Here is what I have tried plus some notes:
    - Driver appears to be correctly installed in Device Manager.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall (when I do the reinstall I can see the PB as a mounted CD drive, this is the only time I can see this)
    - I tried turning off all firewalls etc - still won't work.
    - When I plug it in, Windows say 'Blackberry device PIN XXXX has been connected to the system, initialising device access' followed by 'your device is ready to use'.  Still won't work, don't see any mounted drives in My Computer either.
    - In the BB software itself, my PB appears in the 'Device' menu.  When I click on it it just goes to 'Connecting' in the bottom right and stays in this mode indefinitely.
    - The one time I did manage to get it to connect, it said 'A problem occurred while attempting to connect to your Blackberry Device' and switched back to 'Connecting' again.  I've attached a screenshot of this.  
    - Blackberry device manager appears in my task files, doesn't display any issues.  PB appears in there as a 'Connected Device'.  From the 'About' menu in there:
      * BlackBerry Device Manager Version 6.0.0.48
      * BBDevMgr Version 4.2.0.15
      * RIM USB Driver Version 4.2.0.14
      * PlayBook RNDIS Driver Interface Version 1.0.0.38
      * RIM USB Serial Device Version 2.2.0.0 (I think ,it's hard to see this one)
    - I am on Windows 7.
    - One thing I have noticed is that Windows appears to search for the latest Driver through Windows Update everytime I connect it.  Again I don't know if this is normal.
    - I noticed only one error on the PB itself saying 'Unable to charge battery with connected source'
    - There is no issue with the USB cable, I use it for other things.
    - The only other thing worth noting is that my PB must take over 5 minutes to boot up.  I don't know if this is normal or not...

    That unable to charge message is one new to 2.1 and simply warns that pc usb at 500mA is not enough to do a decent charge. Ignore it.
    What version of Desktop Software do you have, I can't tell from your list. I believe the latest for windoze is 7.1?
    Did you try to map a drive to your playbook like map drive z to \\xxxxxxxxxxx\Media where xxxxxxxxis the "Tablet Network Name" or the 169.x.x.x usb ip address. 

  • Ongoing issue with my iPhone.

    So here's the story from the beginning.
    Just before Christmas 2008, my phone completely locked up while I was away from home. Couldn't turn it off, couldn't do anything. I didn't freak out too much because I've had multiple issues with it locking up. When I got home that night, I plugged my phone into the computer to try doing a restore on it, hoping that would fix it. Well, joyous occasion, it did. However, just before unplugging it after it telling me it was okay to disconnect, my computer crashed. Black screen. Almost like the computer went into permanent hibernation. The only way to get it to restart was to unplug it for a few seconds, then plug it back in and start it back up. That has to be good for the computer, right?
    My computer never has issues unless there's just been a big World of Warcraft patch and the servers are having issues. But then that's not necessarily my computer.
    A monthish passed, and I decided that I needed new music on my phone. I was getting rather tired of the same ole. I plug my phone in, and YES! My computer crashes immediately. I spent about two hours on the phone with tech support after that, my computer crashing numerous times during the phone call.
    If my computer doesn't crash right away, it will back up my phone, then sync all of my apps (every single time I plug in), then nothing. I've done the while uninstall then reinstall of iTunes, I then checked all of my system stuffs and all that was good. I decided maybe it would be a fabulous idea to do another restore on my phone. So I do this, and not only does it still not sync my music, but it deletes all the music I had on there already. I even went as far as doing a complete system restore on my computer. STILL nothing. I've gotten all kinds of virus protection, scans, updates, everything that I can think of.
    At one point, I had my phone just sitting on my desk, not plugged in, accidentally bumped it with my elbow and it fell and bumped the side of my computer case and it crashed. After that I gave up.
    Well today I thought I'd give it one more try, so I plugged in after doing some windows updates. AH! A glimmer of hope! My computer doesn't crash! Phone backs up, apps sync, then nothing.
    HOW IS MY MUSIC STILL NOT SYNCING?!

    BSoD's (blue screens of death) are not necesarily a bad driver issue. you could have a dying hard drive, dying processor, dying motherboard, dying ram, or anything else in your computer might be going wrong. there are a TON of free hardware test programs out there, and i would suggest testing out your computer to see what it might be.
    i've never had a firewall issue while syncing my phone.
    however (and this is the most important) - if you have not backed up your computer, DO IT NOW! do not turn it on unless you are ready to back it up. if something in your computer is going bad, every time you turn it on and every minute it is already on is leading your computer into the hole of death, and you might lost all of your data.
    there are 2 main ways of backing up your computer, using dvds or an external hard drive. my preference is for the hard drive, however, like any other hard drive, these can go bad with little/no warning. however, they are a lot better then dvd's as you can only burn 4.7gb to a dvd, and using dvd's can split folders into multiple pieces and then you have a management nightmare, not to mention 100 dvds if you have a 500gb hard drive.

  • On 3rd replacement! help with ongoing issues

    I am desperate! I got my first 3gs in May and by July I took it to a Genius Bar becuase of battery issues. They replaced it immediately.
    That phone worked fine at first then it started to freeze. It would turn off randomly and I wouldn't be able to get it back on no matter what way I tried to plug it in (into my imac, into the wall, into speakers - nothing worked). It would finally turn on a few hours later. The phone also started to make a bizarre noise after haning up a call. A few seconds after hang up a loud fuzzy quick noise would come out of the speakers. I took it in to the Genius Bar, we reset everything as new, and after about a week, I took it back again with the same issues and the phone was replaced the second time.
    The second phone, after about a month, had the same issues with freezing and the noise from the speaker. We reset it as new and after a few appointments, it was replaced and I got my 3rd phone.
    My 3rd phone is having the exact same issues so i took the phone and our computer into the Apple Store. They checked out the computer - everything was fine - looked at my itunes and didn't see any issues and we reset the phone again. A week later, my issues are back and worse. My phone will not play on any speakers at all (it acknowledges it's plugged in and charges and won't play. My husband's iphone will play on the speakers), and when I put headphones in it's extremely fuzzy (have tried 3 sets of headphones). The phone freezes and is making the same noise after a call ends.
    Any ideas of what else to look for or do would be SO helpful. I do not want another replacement phone. Could there be a virus? Could it be an app (I only have a few apps - NPR, ATT, that's it).
    My husband has a different login on our computer and has the same phone and hasn't had any issues.

    No your iPhone can't have viruses. Take it back to apple, I went through 4 iPhone 3G's till I got a good one, it happens with technology sometimes, you get duds. You need to go back to apple.

  • Logic Pro 9.1.1 AU third-party plug-ins ongoing issue for many

    Where is the Logic development team on this? Nearly all third-party AU plug-ins produce random pops and clicks at the beginning of playback and on occasion randomly during playback but before audio regions in tracks with these plug-ins installed. Is Logic Pro considered production software?

    I can't imagine a more textbook and apple-friendly environment than what I have. 32-bit is not the problem. I don't believe logic runs at 64 until you're on os 10.6 and I'm still on 10.5.8. My entire rig is what you'd see in an apple store logic demo. I've tried nearly everything:
    1) All standard optimization tips including but not limited to no date/time updates, no airport/wi-fi, no bluetooth
    2) I have a ultra high-quality external fw drive by G-drive
    3) Standard issue ensemble with updated firmware
    4) Moving AU component files from system library to user library
    If you look at the number of people commenting on the GS thread as well as other forums – the problem is common and needs to be fixed. I'm not the only logic user plagued by this issue:

    I really believe it has something to do with how many third-party plug-ins handle AU's reset or initialize callbacks; somewhere in between. This bug is clearly affecting many users and I'm coming close to starting a petition and devoting some serious time to making a big dorky stink about it on youtube.
    Either the AU spec needs to be updated to clarify some tricks (or hacks) specific to Logic's on-demand DSP usage or the logic team needs to publish a notice to all "Logic" AU developers. Optionally, if Logic had a preference to turn OFF on-demand AU DSP (so that plug-ins are always-on like in every other DAW or...ugh...outboard gear). Logic's on-demand AU DSP handling is outdated considering the processing power available in ANY apple computer made within the last 3 years. My CPU meter in Logic barely even lights up. On-demand DSP is overkill and antiquated and the least Logic can do is provide production or mission-critical users the ability to opt-out if they have the CPU power to do so.
    Having said all that; I hope I'm wrong about something and can come back here to eat my words and feel very embarrassed about my rant. I'm going to keep digging for solutions – hopefully, I'll find out the secret to whatever it is the few of you are doing to keep your third-party AU plugs quiet before an audio region starts.
    Also; Scott at Stillwell Audio has graciously begun trying to track down this very issue and is one of the few DSPers who has taken interest in helping Logic folk.

  • WRVS4400N PPPoE issue after v2.0.2.1 firmware upgrade

    Hi, I have a WRVS4400N v2 router which was working perfect until I've upgraded the firmware to v2.0.2.1. Since then, my router does not save anymore the PPPoE password so I am not able to connect. Does anybody know how can I fix this?

    Simon, nothing succedeed. I've cleared the browser cache and also downgraded the firmware from v2.0.2.1 to v2.0.1.3. Basically the router does not save any password under PPPoE menu. I've reset it to factory default, same result.
    After filling the password and saving, before router reboot, I see the connection type changing from PPPoE to Automatically connect - DHCP. I do not know if this mean anything or not. Do you have any other ideea?

  • Can anyone help out with an ongoing issue?

    I have been informed by Apple that my ISP is allowing my computer to be accessed remotely via some type of bridge support or ad hoc network! I have tried to remain proactive w/ addressing this issue but things have been frustratingly tumultuous within my county for some time now. It seems as if a business is assumig co ownership of my MacBook, That being said I know all stems from my ISP and their ability to manipulate my network! Can anyone offer any suggestions? I have been informed my best route is to sell my devices and leave this small minded county in my rear view, That's my plan moving forward but I don't want my computer os phone to be compromised repeatedly!

    How did Apple inform you of this, it s a most unusual move on their part (in fact it is the first time I have ever heard it)
    Unless you have sharing enabled and sharing services turned on this is highly unlikely (if another person has physical access to your Mac not so unlikely)
    What makes you think that some other person has control of yor Mac?

  • Windows 2008 R2 Fax Server (Ongoing issue)

    I have a Windows 2008 R2 active directory, fax services work inbound through USB modem - have 50 Windows 7 clients connecting to the fax server and outbound faxing works.  Here's the issue:  After a few days, the clients start getting server disconnected
    on the fax clients.  When I go to the Server, I restart the fax services, even though no event viewer shows any error's.  I do see inbound fax errors of some not received, but these are not consistent when this happens.
    I restart the fax services (by restarting print spooler service), and clients still show disconnected.  If I remove the account from the Windows 7 Fax client and try to add it back - I get the "You do not have security permissions to complete this
    operation. Contact your fax administrator for more information".
    Now, I reboot the windows 2008 R2 server and fax services work again inbound and outbound, and I can reconnect the Windows 7 Fax client that I previously removed.  UAC is turned off, Domain Admins full control to Fax server permission, and domain users
    have fax permissions.
    This issue has happened over the last 3 weeks, I've uninstalled Fax roles, and reinstalled many times prior and followed the fax setup step by step on techarticles - like I stated, the fax services work then stop, and rebooting the server allows the faxing
    to work again.  This server does house Exchange 2010 SP3, but the only thing effected or having issues on this box is Fax services.  Any suggestions to look?

  • Ongoing issue: Error 1321 during the patch installation

    I have seen this issue with 10x and 11x, however currently I'm working on 11. You can look at my previous posts to see additional details because I have posted about this issue in the past with no luck on obtaining a good answer. Luckily I now have more details and pinpointed the issue down to only patches. When installing a patch, the msp and Mcafee On Access scanner conflict because On Access scanner is scanning the file the same time the msp is attempting to modify the file, this results in the msp reporting Error 1321 (security permissions error). This has only been seen on Windows XP. I have never seen this occur when installing the main Adobe Reader installation, only on patches (msp's) and in this specific case it's the 11.0.03 patch. The obvious solution here is disabling Mcafee On Access scanner (which I have confirmed resolves the issue) however that is not an option in my environment. We refuse to leave the machines vulnerable during an installation. A case was opened with Mcafee and their engineers could find nothing that Mcafee was doing out of the ordinary and could find nothing proving Mcafee was doing anything incorrect on their side, they have requested Adobe look into this issue to find root cause. The bad news is that Adobe Reader is a free product therefore there is no premier support that I am aware of, which leaves me with this forum. This does not happen for other installations as often as it does for the Adobe Reader patches. It does not happen every time the patch is installed but it happens very often and the file reported with issues is different every time. My question is, does Adobe have any thoughts on why this could be happening so often for their patches (msp's)? Is there something being done out of the ordinary? Please feel free to let me know if any additional details are needed.

    The installer launches the MSI engine. From that point on, interactions between the MSI engine, the system, and other processes (all of which are not under Adobe's control) control the installation workflow--these processes include antivirus and backup programs. Adobe has worked with certain software companies to mitigate such issues, but in this case it may be true that both Mcafee and Adobe are doing the right thing and that it's up to the admin to make them play together nicely. 
    Obviously, the reason this is not always an issue is because Mcafee is not always scanning in-play files. The coincidence of time and files is seldom, and so the problem appears sporadic.
    You must temporarily suspend scanning or keep retrying until success.

  • Channel unavailabl​e ONGOING issue with only 1 TV - please help

    I have had tech support out to my place no less than six times for various issues. The last time they tightened a cable and said it would be fine - again I am having problems and it is only on one TV.
    The problem:
    I turn to a channel - currently Weather and History  (sometimes others)- and it shows unavailable. I reboot, bla bla and get same result. This only happens on one TV. The scifi channel currently is pixelated with poor reception. I also had a problem with a show I taped that stopped in the middle and never re-started. I call but get the same - reboot, bla bla then send a tech. They can never fix it - it seems to correct itself at some point (of course always before they send a tech).
    The interesting thing is that it is only on my living room TV - not the bedroom. I am really tired of calling tech support or changing my schedule so a tech guy can come out and not find a problem. Does anybody have any ideas or thoughts? I could really use the help!

    That is incorrect. 
    If it said "not subscribed" then that would be an activation type of an issue. 
    Currently unavailable is a signaling issue.  most commonly with the coax, sometimes with the splitter, and sometimes with the box itself

  • Expose / Spaces function(s) fail to work with mouse buttons, ongoing issue

    This is an issue as old as snow leopard itself. The problem varies in that it can effect spaces or expose. When using a non-apple mouse, one or more of these functions will fail to perform with a mouse button indefinitely as soon as a restart has taken place.
    In my particular case, whatever mouse button I assign to "show desktop" fails to function entirely after a restart has taken place. This remains true even if I re-apply the setting in system preferences, such as changing it to another button, or changing it to nothing, and back. I can still use keyboard shortcuts and screen corners to activate "show desktop". I can continue to use other expose and spaces features with the properly assigned mouse keys. Only one feature, in my case "show desktop", fails to function with -any- mouse button after a restart.
    To make this even more clear, this behavior has remained the same and consistent for the 14 months I've had snow leopard. It has even continued to exist after I recently removed and recreated my HFS+ partition, and re-installed OS 10.6, entirely from scratch. It did not exist whatsoever for the year and a month I had OS 10.5 leopard, before upgrading to 10.6. This behavior was +literally introduced upon installing snow leopard+. I have a razer death adder 1500 DPI mouse.
    Several others share the exact same symptoms, with only the affected expose/spaces function and mouse model differing. A sibling of mine experienced the +exact same issue+ with an entirely different mac model and the exact same model of mouse.
    As a relatively unimportant aside, certain "tricks" seem to fix the issue, but only temporarily (one involves moving the location of spaces and/or expose out of the utilities folder, another involves deleting "com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist" from ~/Library/Preferences). Unfortunately, these tricks:
    A. always only fix the problem temporarily, the issue returns
    B. do not address whatever is causing the issue in the first place
    This is really frustrating quite a few people, as the linked-to thread can attest to. Along with the obvious, this frustration is magnified because:
    A. This issue +does not appear+ to involve terribly challenging technical difficulties (i.e., merely mouse button behaviors).
    B. This issue did not seem to exist before OS 10.6.
    C. This issue, with the previous two points above in mind, has remained unaddressed for 14-plus months - the entire duration of Mac OS 10.6 snow leopard. I myself originally figured a reasonable time for this issue to be addressed & resolved would be a matter of +a few days+, weeks at most, and at the very least, thought I'd be using these beloved features again +well over a year ago+.
    To put it frankly, what the %$#&? Why hasn't this been addressed yet?

  • Stolen iPhone ongoing issues?

    My son's phone was stolen from a bathroom (yeah he left it there) in Hilton Head SC last summer. We tried to recover from the Mobile me app, but the circle at the beach included several thousand people. The next day we found the phone had moved across island, but the circle was still too big and included some 6-7 houses in an Hispanic district, so we couldn't trace it and wiped the phone and he bought another.
    Now about 10 months later, his address book is getting populated with contacts we don't know, but they are almost all hispanic and almost all in Hilton Head SC. Assume the person that took it is using it, or ha given it to someone else using it, but how are they populating his contact list?
    Any help with this mystery will be much appreciated!

    I may have solved one issue, but am still perplexed. We wiped the phone the day after it was taken. So, if I understand correctly, al of our info was gone.
    We haven't changed the mobileme to the new phone yet. But, the thing that perplexes, is that it took 10 months and then this old phone populated my sons contact list on mobile me?
    Anyhow, I intend to wipe out the addresses in the contact list hopefully causing some harm to the theif and then reassign the phone to the new phone. That should be the end. right?
