WTF ? Where's JDK ? Struggling to Install JDeveloper 11g (11.1.2.4.0)

Hi Everyone !
I"m struggling to re-install JDeveloper 11g (11.1.2.4.0) in my Mac OS X Mountain Lion (Version 10.8.4). Can someone please assist me with this issue ? I believe I might have ran into this, with an earlier version; but recently had computer problems and to wipe my system and upgrade my HDD and Memory. So, I'm back to square one and need to install this pursue my independent Java 7 programming self-lessons.
If this questions seems trivial or beneath you, I apologize in advance. I'm just a newbie wishing to improve myself through the acquisition of new I.T. skills.
God Bless.

Frederick ,
May I know what is the error that you are encountering ? .  Hope the below info might help you
nstallation on Mac OS
Some additional steps are required to install JDeveloper on Mac OS beyond what is documented in the installation guide. Please refer to the installation guide (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26098_01/install.1112/e17074/toc.htm) for additional details on installing JDeveloper for Mac OS X.
1. Make Java 6 the default VM.
Run Java Preferences (in /Applications/Utilities/Java)
Move the Java SE 6 (64 Bit) to the top of the Java application versions list (General tab)
2. Create a symbolic link for classes.jar (requires root access)
To enable root user:
For Mac OS versions older than Snow Leopard, simply open the Directory Utility app from Applications - Utility
For Mac OS versions Snow Leopard and more recent:Go to System Preferences - Users and Groups. Click Login Options, and then the Join button (enable configuration changes if necessary). Then, proceed by clicking Open Directory Utility.
Ensure the settings are unlocked (click the lock if necessary)
Choose Edit > Enable Root User and provide the root user password.
Note, you can return to this same screen to disable root user after creating the symbolic link
Create the symbolic link from a terminal session:
Note: You may need to repeat the steps to create the symbolic link after installing a new JDK.An additional step is required to successfully run applications on Mac systems that have Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 4 installed (8681385):
Open the jdev.conf file. The file is located in the MW_HOME/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ directory.
Add the following line to the jdev.conf file: AddVMOption -Djava.io.tmpdir=/var/tmp
Thanks

  • Installing Jdeveloper 11g on MAC OS 10.4.11?

Has anyone successfully installed Jdeveloper 11g on MAC OS 10.4.11? I've found examples Jdeveloper 11g on MAC OS 10.5 but nothing on 10.4.11.

The issue is not so much with JDeveloper but with the JDK. There isn't a supported (easy) install of JDK 1.6 for Tiger, and the current JDeveloper requires it. There are some hacks around if you search for JDK 1.6 and 10.4 or Tiger, but JDeveloper/Weblogic are quite complex and I just imagine there would be issues with SoyLatte or whatever other JDK was used. I am going to finally upgrade to Leopard I think, seems easier and more of a sure thing to get JDeveloper/Weblogic working correctly so I can work on the road as well as at my Linux workstation in the office.

  • How to install jDeveloper 11g (final) on a Mac??

I cannot for-the-life-of-me fathom how to install jDeveloper on a Mac.
Which version am I supposed to download? How do I install? I tried downloading the zipped file, but seems it only contains PC-files (.exe files and so on).
(I should mention that I already got jDeveloper 11g preview 3 installed).

Hey thanks. Finally got it working.
Why isnt there an actual app? Seems like the only way to start Jdeveloper is to run the jdev script burried deep into the folder structure...which in turn launches the terminal, and THEN launches Jdeveloper, which means you cant quit Terminal cause then youd quit Jdeveloper also. Am I doing something wrong? I mean....with Jdeveloper 11 perview 3 I have a jdeveloper.app in my applicationsfolder....
Another thing: is oc4j embedded server not installed with jdeveloper 11g by default? Cant seem to locate it anywhere.... :(

  • Can't install jdeveloper 11g build 5188

I have downloaded new build 5188 base install.
    My system:
    OpenSUSE 11.0 x86_64
    java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0.u10
After running java -jar jdevstudio11110install.jar. Next select New Middleware Home->Complete Install>select local jdk 1.6.0_10 i get next error:
    "Insufficient disk space! Installer requires:
132M for the Middleware Home at /app/Oracle/Middleware,
670M for the product at /app/Oracle/Middleware/jdeveloper, /app/Oracle/Middleware/wlserver_10.3 and 705M temporary workspace at /tmp
There is only 1Mb available at /app/Oracle/Middleare/wlserver_10.3."
Very strange error because i have nearly 200Gb free on /app partition.

Looks like a 64-bit problem to me. I've checked the installation guide but found nothing.
If you haven't done so and if possible, could you try to install it with a 32-bit JDK?

  • Trouble installing Jdeveloper on mac os X

I have downloaded the .jar-file to install Jdeveloper 11g on my mac. I have also installed the latest JDK-kit, I think. It's a little difficult to understand, but I downloaded it from Appels site and when I look under the specified place, Java SE 6 64 is at the top.
I've tried to follow the installation instructions but get stuck all the time, it's a tad to technical for me since I'm not a hacker yet!
This is what the instruction says: "To streamline your installation process, the JDK you wish to use with the product should be the one you use to start the installer program. In that case, be sure the desired JDK is the first one in your system PATH, or reference it explicitly on the command line."
I don't know what first in your system path is, or how I reference it on the command line. Thats the first problem.
I don't know what it means when it says : "To launch the platform-independent installer, enter: java -jar jdevstudio11113install.jar." Enter where???
I've tried dubbel clicking on the install file and it seems to be working al right untill I come to the JDK Selection part. Here I've tried browsing and selecting every map that has something to do with java, but all I get is that is't not the right "home" or what ever. I've tried googling it and found the pathways people have used, but nothing works! I've found the "hat contains the child folder bin, which in turn contains java.exe." but I have no .exe-file, since it's a mac.. I've found a file that's called 1.6.0.jdk that's in a folder caller Java Virtual Machine, but it doesn't work.
    I really need help!!

Yes, very many times. However, the instructions there are for after installing. But, since nothing else works, I tried that to and couldn't get it to work ether.. Not my day.
I can't enable the root user, because I have no Edit meny in my Directory Utility application, I have tried for over an hour with that. My menues doesn't have that button.
And, I also cant understand if I write in all the
    cd /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home/
    su root
    mkdir jre
    cd jre
    mkdir lib
    cd lib
    ln -s ../../../Classes/classes.jar rt.jar
at the same time, or if I hit the return key for every line break..
    I'm feeling quite stupid now..

  • Jdeveloper 11g install error

I received the following error when trying to install jdeveloper 11g. I was attempting to install the studio edition for windows.
Fatal error encountered during file installation. The installer will now cleanup and exit!
    C:\oracle\Middleware\wlser_10.3\server\lib\jms-local-adp.rar (Access is denied)
This is a windows box that I have been running jdev 10.1.3.3 with no problems.
Has anyone else encountered this error??

    Hi,
didn't see anything like this so far. The installation routine between 10.1.3 and 11 has changed and cannot be compared. Did you run the ".exe." installer ? I am asking because I tend using the jar installer that you launh with java -jar <jdev install file>.jar
Maybe this is an option for you to try (though it might require a new download of JDev ;-(

  • How to create a proxy of BPEL process(to initiate it) in Jdeveloper 11G

    Hi All,
I am badly stuck in creating proxy of BPEL process developed in Jdeveloper 10G. It was working fine in 10G. But in 11G I am not able to do it. Even creating a
JAX-RPC mapping file is disabled in 11G. So could any one help me out. Even I want to know is there any other process to initiate a BPEL process from 11G. It's very URGENT
    so please help me out.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
JDeveloper 11g had four technology preview releases (they came with OC4J instead of WebLogic) before production, TP4 is the forth, and SOA components came with it (not out-of-the-box, but had to be installed) including BPEL engine.
Start from here , there is a metalink note no. 565899.1 where you can find the instructions for installing SOA on JDeveloper 11g TP4.
    So, you need to:
    - download and install [JDeveloper 11g TP4|http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jdev/htdocs/soft11tp.html]
    - install SOA on it (instructions on metalink)
I used JDeveloper 11g R1 for my application because TP4 had some bugs when working with asynchronous web services.
Ask away if you have any problems.

"Installing Oracle JDeveloper Studio 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) also automatically installs Oracle WebLogic Server 10g Release 3 (10.3). Oracle JDeveloper uses this preconfigured installation as the Integrated WLS, a Oracle JDeveloper-managed server for testing and debugging your applications from within the IDE. *After installing Oracle JDeveloper, everything you need to begin developing, testing and debugging web applications is installed and configured for you; no additional configuration steps are necessary for development purposes.*"

  • Unable to Connect to Oracle 10gR1 database from JDeveloper 11g using OCI

We are migrating our application from OC4J to Weblogic server. As a part, I am trying to create a database connection in JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.3.0 - Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.3.PS2_GENERIC_100408.2356.5660) to Oracle 10gR1 database. Previously I had Oracle 10g Client installed in the machine. Created a database connection using OCI driver and when I try to test connect, I got "Test Failed: no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path". I searched through Metalink and forums and one suggestion was to install Oracle 11g Client on the machine where Jdeveloper 11g is installed. I installed 11g R1 client and tried the same test connection using OCI driver. Now I am getting "Test failed: ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified" error.
The same database connection works good with Thin driver with both Oracle 10g client and 11gR1 client.
Previously I had Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2 and Oracle 10g Client and I was able to connect to database without any errors.
Could you provide me the steps for this or if I missed any steps?
    Steps to Replicate:
For the error: no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path
    1) Install JDeveloper 11g (With embedded Weblogic Server)
    2) Install Oracle 10g Client on the same machine
    3) Create a database connection in the "Application Resources --> Connection"
    4) Use OCI driver. Enter the host details about the Oracle 10g R1 database
    5) Test connect to the database.
ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified
    1) Install JDeveloper 11g (With embedded Weblogic Server)
    2) Install Oracle 11gR1 Client on the same machine
    3) Create a database connection in the "Application Resources --> Connection"
    4) Use OCI driver. Enter the host details about the Oracle 10g R1 database
    5) Test connect to the database.
Note: Tried the same scenarios with Oracle 11gR2 client as well. It was not working at all.
Any ideas and pointers would be great.

    1. will my problem get solved after i install oracle 11g client on my machine.Yes, your problem should get solved. The version of the Oracle 11g Client must match the version of the JDev's JDBC drivers. Alternatively you may install an Oracle 11g Client and replace JDev's Oracle JDBC drivers with these from the installed client. Please, read carefully my 1st posting above in this thread.
    2. can i patch JDeveloper 11g on my machine to work with 10g client, or can i do the same with 10g client. You might succeed if you replace JDev's built-in JDBC drivers (which are 11g versions) with 10g versions, but I do not recommend you to try that because JDeveloper 11g and ADF 11g may be using some 11g features that do not exist in 10g drivers, so you may have problems.
I also have PLSql developer installed on my machine and it works well.PL/SQL Developer does not use JDBC drivers, so it is not an relevant example in this case.
My generall recommendation is to use Oracle JDBC Thin drivers. Oracle claimed that OCI drivers had better performance, but this was really true about earlier releases. Current Oracle 11g JDBC Thin drivers offer excellent performance and they offer all the features of the OCI versions (which was not true about earlier releases). In my opinion, the most important disadvantage of Oracle JDBC OCI drivers is that most versions have native memory leaks so all the RAM would get consumed after long application execution. The fact that WebLogic Server does not offer Oracle JDBC OCI drivers by default anymore says that Oracle discourages the usage of the OCI driver in favour of Thin driver.

  • Launching JDeveloper 11g Error

    Hi Everyone.
I am new to JDev. I have downloaded and installed JDeveloper 11g Basic Installation. Everything seemed to be good, but when i tried to launch JDev, It warned: "Unable to create instance of JVM at C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_07\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll". I tried to download and install bundle for Windows, but there was no change.
i need your all help, experts in JDeveloper.
    Best Regards.

Had the same error with JDeveloper 10.1.3.4. Installed an older JDK (1.5.0 - 17 instead of 1.6.0 - patch 12) an that solved the problem.
    Good luck,

  • JDeveloper 11g and 64bit Java

    Hi everyone.
I have just installed JDeveloper 11g on my 64bit CentOS machine and everything worked as expected.
Then I tried to use my 64bit JDK version 1.6.0.10 and after a little bit of tampering with the installation directories I was able to do that too.
All it took was to link the $JDEV_HOME/jdk160_05 directory to the location of the actual JDK installation.
To be honest I did not notice any changes in terms of speed.
So my question is whether a 64 bit JDK is officially supported and if the whole 64 bit issue is worth it at all.
    Thanassis

    Hi,

    *** Note ***
One possibility for the deployment failure is that the target Database may not support JDK version 1.5. Updating your Project Properties compiler Source & Target to an earlier release could fix this problem.
How can I either downgrade JDK on the compiler(JDeveloper) to be 1.4 or, How can I resolve the error,

  • Error in Compiling FormGraph in jdeveloper 11g

    Hi
I m trying to compile the new FormsGraph from Bincsoft sites:
    http://www.bincsoft.com/articles/forms-wrapper-for-oracle-data-visualization-components
I have installed jdeveloper 11g on d:\oracle\middleware and placed the frmall.jar and bigraphbean.jar in the
D:\Oracle\Middleware\jdeveloper\jdev\lib location and add to the project via project properties but i get the following errors.
    Cannot find class ReferenceObject()
    cannot find variable GraphConstants
Please help if i m missing something and how to successfully compile this jar file .
    Regards
    Omama Khurshid

This sounds like a question for the JDev team. Try posting here:
    JDeveloper and ADF
Unrelated to your current problem, but something you should know... I would not recommend using JDev 11 if you are using Forms 10. Be sure to consider the jdk you are using when creating apps to integrate with Forms. This is mostly relevant for server side, imported java, but should also be considered when building client side beans, although less of an issue as long as the client side is running a JRE that supports that java version.
Forms 10.x is based on Java 1.3/1.4
Forms 11.x is based on Java 1.5/1.6

    Hi,
Copy jvm.dll file in jdk/jre/bin/client and paste to jdk/jre/bin/client/ojvm. Since ojvm folder has a file of the same name, make a backup of it first before you paste it so that you can revert back just in case it doesn’t work
