Xbox 360 + HDMI

Someone on these forums mentioned something about hooking a 360 up to a 23 inch Cinema Display using an HDMI adapter. They said they got it to work, but there was a band across the bottom of the screen that mirrored the top.
How, exactly, did they get it to work? I've been fiddling with it for a while, and I always get the 'unsupported resolution' blink code. Except once, and then I got a blink code that apparently doesn't exist. (Long - short - short)
I'd really appreciate some help. =)

That's a good point, maybe the graphic card is always outputing at 1920x1200 resolution. So the borders are inserted by the graphic card. I know my ATI card does scaling pretty well, I can even see the BIOS POST messages at full 1920x1200 res.
Apple's site doesn't help either, the 1920x1080 is not listed as a supported resolution.

Surely someone must have this combinaion and have tested it already. I have a PS3, but I don't have the an inline DVI/HDMI adapter.

  • No signal from XBOX 360 when connected to a 65HT2U through HDMI

    Good day peepz!
I tried to connect a  XBOX 360 to my 65HT2U and it says no video signal
I already tried using other HDMI cables
and resetting the XBOX display settings by using Y and the right trigger
Still it shows no video signal
The weird thing is the XBOX works with my Samsung TV's HDMI ports and
other dervices can work on the three HDMI ports of my 65HT2U.
Is this a compatibility issue between the XBOX360 models and my Toshiba TV?

    Hi,
Can you post back with the following.
    1.  The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ) - see Here for a further explanation.
    2.  The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 32bit ).
    3.  The full name of the display adapter.

  • HDMI with Xbox 360

I just got an xbox 360 and i hooked it up to my imac with my eyetv hybrid. Can use the HDMI cables to make it High Def? What can i use to make it so it will hook up to the cables.
    thanks

If your receiver supports HDMI inputs and passthrough then go there first from the xbox, and send the passthrough to the TV.  If you can't do that then try digital audio out of the xbox to the receiver and HDMI to the TV for just video.
I read something in another thread about some Toshiba TV outputting only PCM stereo as passthrough from a HDMI input so I bet that's what is happening here.

  • HP Omni 27 - Xbox 360 sound doesn´t play through HDMI

    Product Name and Operating System:
    HP Omni 27 - 1001es - Windows 7 Home Premium
    Description of the problem:
Hi everybody: I have plugged my Xbox 360 through the HDMI cable to my Omni 27 computer. The image is well seen, but there is no sound from the console available.
Could anyone help me to fix this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
PS: I´ve tried different inputs to the computer like a SAT TV receiver through HDMI and both the image and the sound work nicely.

I understand you connected your XBox 360 to your HP Omni 27-1001es Desktop PC and are getting the video, but not audio. I ran into this myself once on my XBox and here are the steps I used to fix it:
    Step 1. Click on Settings
    Step 2. Click on System
Step 3. Click on Consol Settings
    Step 4. Click on Display
Step 5. Click on Display Discovery
    Step 6. Choose Disable
    Step 7. Restart

  • 22" ADC to an Xbox 360 with HDMI output?

I have a 22" ADC Cinema Display, along with an Apple DVI->ADC adapter. Would I be able to connect my LCD to an Xbox 360 through HDMI to DVI (via an adapter)->DVI to ADC? The native resolution of my monitor is 1600x1024.
If so, what would be the necessary steps/equipment/settings?
I know there are HD scalers available through Gefen, but I would prefer to avoid this route if possible, as they are expensive.

    thanks for the repply ..
uff, looks like I will need to get an analog conversor to digital if I want to use my 23" with my x360...
I found this other vga to dvi box adapter ,its 299$ ,and looks like it work directly from VGA analog to DVI-D .. look here..is the second one in this page call (The VGA to DVI Conversion Box) ,cost just like the X360 core ,arg..sad that microsoft didnt make any cable for that kind of screens and also sad that Apple didnt add any analog or component in extra ...

  • Belkin av360 Hdmi/xbox 360 adapter not working? Kanex ok?

I have a Belkin AV360 adapter to connect my xbox 360 to my 27" imac display. It has recently stopped working i.e. I cannot switch to the external input. Does anyone else have this problem or a solution? Also is anyone using a Kanex XD and does that still work (it uses an external power supply rather than being connected via usb like the belkin)? I believe there has been a software update that has invalidated the usb drivers on the belkin.

Mine stopped working randomly in early 2012.  I read elsewhere online that the boxes were sometimes faulty and just stopped working.  I contacted Belkin, because this product has a "Lifetime Warranty" and I was able to send in my faulty unit and received a replacement free of charge.  The replacement worked fine.
It's been a while, but try contacting Belkin about it.  Part # F2CD007

  • Xbox 360 to iMac, lets finish this once and for all!

    Hello Everyone!
New to the forum here and I joint to get a finalised answer to a question I've heard people bickering about for ages! (hopefully the answer will come from someone who has done it/tryed it, not just someone who is going to create a theory of what would work!)
So I want to use my iMac as a screen for my Xbox 360, because, well, it would be awesome!
I have so far heard too many different things, for example, if I have a new 27" iMac (which i do) that its possibly just a single wire, mini DisplayPort to HDMI.
Another thing i have read said, it can only be a single mini DisplayPort to HDMI as long as i have 8GB of Ram.
Another has said I need to get a complete video converter to run through my mini DisplayPort that would cost around 150 pounds.
I'm a student and cant really afford to be wrong other wise I would guinea pig this myself, so what im asking for here is someone to lay the smack down. Which is it, if any?!
Does anyone even know if it has been successfully done yet!? And if it has, to how much success, does it have high lag? Because the guys at AppleCare Support were pretty sure it has been, but they were not allowed to recommend me anything because there is no official Apple fix for it. . . . Hence the reason why i was directed here. . .
    Thanks in advance!

The answer is behind Door #3. It is a very expensive proposition.
The two way mini-DisplayPort on the 27" iMac will only accept DisplayPort signaling. So you need a device that has DisplayPort video output, such as a new MacBook Pro which can be attached to the iMac with a simple m-DP to m-DP cable. If you have a device with a DisplayPort video port you can attach it to the iMac with a DisplayPort to m-DP cable. But if the device has any other video output, then you need a video converter to convert the signal to DisplayPort. And most of these converters can only supply 720p to the iMac. One very expensive one can do 1080p.
You can get the converters from Kanex and Atlona.

    Hi,
Yes the button is normally used to connect up HDMI devices.  However, in the past on this forum, pressing the button failed to solve the problem and hence the reason for asking for the product number.  Even though the HDMI button is on the HP Reclines, posting the product number helps other to relate to his/her particular product number. The HP USER Guide would have indicated the HDMI button.
    Thanks for posting your success.

  • I am having a problem hooking up my Xbox 360 to my new Toshiba 32" 32DT2U TV...

I just purchased this 32DT2U tv and have an older Xbox 360 with the red, white and yellow AV cables. I hooked up the Yellow (video in) to the Green port, and finally got the sound working, but the screen is grey and white. I see the game and all, but there's no color. Any suggestions? Should I just get an HDMI cable to fix this? Thanks for your help.

There are two types of connections that look similar.
Composite cables are colored red, white, and yellow. The red and white ports are for stereo audio and the yellow port is for video.
Component cables are colored red, white, blue, green, and another red. The red and white pair are exactly the same as the composite ones. They carry stereo audio. However, the HD video is split into components (hence the name) and carried by the blue, green, and red.
Your TV does not have composite ports, and connecting the yellow composite cable to any of those component videos ports will not work.
I thought that the older Xbox 360s came with a cable that had both. In other words, it had the stereo pair for the audio, the three for component video, and the one for composite video. If that's the case, simply ignore the yellow cable and connect the other five. There should be a toggle on the base of the cable that plugs into the 360 with a toggle for SD and HD. Switch it to HD.
Of course, this is all from memory, and I'm definitely not a 360 technical support agent. I'm guessing if your cable was like this, you would have tried, so they must have shipped with different box contents at some point.
You could purchase a component cable or an HDMI cable if you only have a composite cable. Personally, I would go for HDMI.

  • Can I use my mid 2011 iMac with an Xbox 360?

Hello all, I have been unable to find a definative answer to this question so thought it best to ask here. Question being can I connect an Xbox 360 to my mid 2011 21.5 iMac and use it as a monitor for gaming? If this is possible, could you tell me how seeing as the iMac doesn't have a hdmi input?
    Help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

For the 2009 and 2010 27" iMacs there is the Kanex XD http://www.kanexlive.com/xd but it is not compatible with ThunderBolt iMacs as Kanex states in their Product FAQs.
2011 ThunderBolt iMac only accept other ThunderBolt Macs as source.

  • Is there a way to setup your Xbox 360 to the new MacBook Pro

I was just wondering if there was a way to setup your XBOX 360 to the new MacBook Pro? If you could give a simple answer that is simple to understand that would be great. My Xbox is connected using an HDMI but I also have a component cable.

There is no cable that would do what you want. MacBook Pro computers do not have video inputs.
