This is the error thrown when we are running the GTC Connector.
What might be the cause?Please suggest some sort of solution to this.
We are using GTC Connector to mass import the users from a FLAT FILE.

Did you make any changes or install updates in your environment before your tests?
Did you have the sql statements performed before the excpetion? You have to active the logger log4j.logger.XELLERATE.DATABASE = DEBUG.
The exception below is raised when there is a problem when the dataset executes the sql statement or when the sql statement returns no rows, so this error is because the first one.

Design strategy of database class

Hello,
I am developing a (XML-)DOM-based database class, storing specific information in trees and providing some public methods modify all database content (add, remove, etc.) All these methods work with path parameter of the type String, to access objects in the DB.
Now I've decided to reimplement the class and do it this way: Add a public method
DatabaseObject getObject(String path)
to the class. This method returns a new-created DatabaseObject. The interface DatabaseObject, provides methods like getName(), getProperty(), ... getChildren(), ... So you can deal with the objects itself and you do not have to ask the database class.
I have planned to create a class DatabaseObjectImpl which implements the DatabaseObject interface. Database.getObject created then a new instance of a DatabaseObjectImpl object.
My question is: What ways are possible to implement the DatabaseObjectImpl transaction with the parent database class. First a thought of implementing it this way. DatabaseObjectImpl is given the Database by its construction (in the constructor). Every time a DatabaseObject does data in-/output, it uses the methods in the parent database. (A database object also "knows" its path in the DB, also given by its construction). But I don't like this design.
Is there a way of letting the DatabaseObjectImpl's do the modification securely by itself? The database uses Xerces-J DOM-Documents. There is one catch, I don't know, how to secure it:
A user of Database fetches a DatabaseObject A to the path "/Java/is/great" via the getObject method in Database. Later, he also fetches a DatabaseObject B of "/Java". Now he calls B.delete(). Right now the object A should be valid, but the subtree /Java does not exist anymore.
What is the professional way, to solve this problem?
Was my first thought (let the database do all modification, called from objects) better than implementing the modification in the database objects?
Is my idea of providing objects to modify the database content bad?

I'm using XML via DOM as storage of the data of the database class. But I don't want to let the user of my class work on the DOM document. I want to provide him a database specific interface for modifying the db. The question, who can this be done care securely, if I want to give the user of my class instances of special objects, "DatabaseObject", which handle the modification and so on.
I did not like the way to do all modification directly through the instance of the database class.
An example:
Getting the name of an object in the database at the path
/root/folder/object:
Method A: Via Database-class methods (which I don't want)
String name = db.getObjectName("/root/folder/object");
Method B: Via Objects which handle everything:
DatabaseObject object = db.getObject("/root/folder/object");
String name = object.getName();
Via the second way, it would be also easy to do something like this:
object.getChildren();
object.getParent();
object.appendChild(new DatabaseObject("New Name"));
and so on...
So this DatabaseObject-class must in some way deal with the database class, which covers the database information. The DatabaseObject is only for simplify the handling.
How should the Database and the DatabaseObject be implemented securely (see figured problem in my first posting) regarding their communication?

Class methods to upload database tables

Hi,
Are there any class methods that can be used to upload database tables? I am aware that using GUI_UPLOAD method we can dynamically upload data from any flat file to a corresponding table. However can I take this process to the next level and upload the data from the internal table to a databse table at the run time?
Any thoughts or inputs shall be helpful?

Actualaly I am not sure is there any class or methods are available for update the database tables from internal tables.
But we can try in a custom class and method for this purpuse using TYPE ANY and TYPE TABLE.

Class methods, (sqlite)

I'm working on a sqlite database application and I need to declare class variables (or something similar) to use within a class method.
what i'm trying to do is compile and run some sql queries throughout my app. Now all the instance methods I call for class objects are fine because they are being called by a specific object of that class.
I need to call a method (which is actually a sql query) at any time even tho there are no objects presently in the database to pass the method to. Therefore, i've created a class method to do this so I can call this method anytime I want on the class itself.
Problem is, I don't know where/how to declare class variables to use in this query (such as the handler for the database itself, statement handler, etc...
Also I want these variables to be accessible by other classes so that way I can pass the data from the result set into an array or whatever.
Anyone know how I can do this?

yeah, when I was looking into this yesterday I came across a "Cocoa Design Guidelines" guide and they were talking a little about singletons....
I've never used them.....do you know of any examples where one is used so I can see how it's used in an actual app (maybe one of the sample apps from Dev portal??)

Invoking remote java classes/methods

Hi,
I just wanted to ask for opinions and suggestions regarding my attempt to call a remote java class method using PL/SQL. I didn't want to load it in the database since the configurations for the java class were already set using Spring Integration. I just wanted to supply constructor arguments and run the method and then retrieve the result. Are there any good or easier ways on doing this?

A server JVM might not want to host mobile code from other clients, not that it's unsafe, it's just that it allows clients to crash the server JVM at will. They should have it configured to automatically restart though.
Did they delete the java.rmi.* packages from the server JVM runtime? I don't understand why they'd do that.
If you can pry some reasons from them, I'd be very interested to hear them. Perhaps they just want more money, in order to allow you this privilige.

Please tell me the ways of accessing database in webdynpro abap(not directly). I am calling Class method for accessing database. As currently I am directly accessing database in my webdynpro application. I have created a class and method for the same.
In my method I want to use select statement which will return table with values to webdynpro application. So for select statement(Calling Method) I need to use my field symbol values as where in clause .

You can create a data reference and assign it to a field symbol and change the values. direclty passing field symbols is not possible.

Custom User Decision for Class Method in Task

Hi Expert,
I have a screen for user decision(Approve/Reject with some comments field). When i execute the process it works fine for all cases, but when i don't click any decision and come back from the screen, then also this task gets completed and workflow starts executing next step. Here in this case, i want workitem to remain in inbox same as what happen in case of user decision step.
Do i need to put this task in loop till i get a decision or some other way i can solve it? I have tried putting this method as Synchronous and non-Synchronous method. I am not sure if this issue is, because i am using Class method. Please help.

I have got a solution for this. If we make the task as Asynchronous task with a terminating event. Till the time event is not triggered process workitem will remain in inbox. This event can we triggered at any user decision only.
Is there any flow in this logic? I have tried it for few cases and it worked, but not sure if there will be any case where it will not work? any suggestion?

Can you try the following BAPI - BAPI_CRMCASE_CREATE from the Function Group - CRM_CMG_BAPI. I guess this will at least give you some idea as to how to proceed. Also, have a look at the Function Module documentation which will give you an idea of the sample code.
You can also have a look at the following Class Method - cl_crm_cmg_manager=>create_case. I found this in CL_CRM_CMG_IL which is the SAP CRM 6.0 Genil Component Class.

Missing Parameter in class method

Hi,
This is with regard to the Survey transaction. For survey, I did some modifications and I did the modifications based on a parameter in class method CL_UWS_PUBLISHING=>PUBLISH. It was working fine in our development server. But when I ported it to the Quality system, an erro appears telling that the parameter ID_SURVEY_ID is not available in the system.
As part of the implementation, our team has applied several notes to the application. Is it that, this parameter came as part of some note? If so, how can I find the relevant note. I searched for notes regarding survey but didn't find this one.
Please do help me in this regard.

Static Classes/Methods vs Objects/Instance Classes/Methods?

Hi,
I am reading "Official ABAP Programming Guidelines" book. And I saw the rule:
Rule 5.3: Do Not Use Static Classes
Preferably use objects instead of static classes. If you don't want to have a multiple instantiation, you can use singletons.
I needed to create a global class and some methods under that. And there is no any object-oriented design idea exists. Instead of creating a function group/modules, I have decided to create a global class (even is a abstract class) and some static methods.So I directly use these static methods by using zcl_class=>method().
But the rule above says "Don't use static classes/methods, always use instance methods if even there is no object-oriented design".
The book listed several reasons, one for example
1-) Static classes are implicitly loaded first time they are used, and the corresponding static constructor -of available- is executed. They remain in the memory as long as the current internal session exists. Therefore, if you use static classes, you cannot actually control the time of initialization and have no option to release the memory.
So if I use a static class/method in a subroutine, it will be loaded into memory and it will stay in the memory till I close the program.
But if I use instance class/method, I can CREATE OBJECT lo_object TYPE REF TO zcl_class then use method lo_object->method(), then I can FREE lo_object to delete from the memory. Is my understanding correct?
Any idea? What do you prefer Static Class OR Object/Instance Class?

Calling up class methods

I suffer problems understanding how to call up class methods from within my programs and would like to see further examples of coding and a lending hand with the problem below, program one ProductClass works out stock item lines of a product, the program then needs to ask for the StaticProduct Class(the second program attached) to check for a valid barcode length and for how many odds and even numbers are within it a valid barcode would be 5000127062092

Read through your text book or some java tutorials from this site to understand what classes are, what are methods, etc.
Your program is full of wrong initializations (as you rightly said you dont understand how to call up class method I would add that you dont understand how to call classes and what do they return e.g.
You have declared
String p;
then you go ahead and do this
p = new Product("manuf","name","quantity","price"); This is syntax for calling a class is this class returning a String? :s
Please go through the basics of Object Oriented Programming and then start with the coding part else you will face such very many difficulties and waste more time of yours in just coding with no results.
Look for the tutorials on this site and read through them and do example as given in them.
