"xfa.data.nodes.remove" wreaking havoc on dynamic forms

I have a web service that I created using Workbench, and it is using the Query Multiple Rows as XML component. It returns multiple items depending on criteria supplied by the form filler. The data is being placed into a drop down field. In order to facilitate this I followed what I had read previously in these forums, which is to load the xml into the DOM and then navigate to the nodes needed and loop through and add then into the drop down. That works great. The problem happens when I want to reset the data in the drop down in order to facilitate another query. So what happens in the form is:
A user is presented with a drop down that has two options, to 'add new object', or to 'edit existing object'.
If the user selects 'add new object', a blank form is displayed and the user can fill it out. Once the form is filled out, a web service takes the information and creates a row in the database.
If the user selects 'edit existing object' a web service fires and brings back xml data and places the data into two separate drop downs, one for 'staff lead' and one for 'departments'. When they select an option, another web service fires to query the database based on the selection. It works fine the first time. But say someone decides to change an option from either the 'staff lead' or the 'departments' drop downs, which would logically change the criteria for the query, things get crazy. I have to use the xfa.data.nodes.remove command in order to remove the nodes from the DOM so that the next query comes in and loads into the DOM correctly. If I don't do this, then the drop down keeps the previous data in it.
The problem is that once you use the command on a Dynamic form (this is important, the form must be dynamic.) things start disappearing on the form. Can't figure out why. Help...
Very important: The form needs to be a dynamic form. The problem does not happen on static forms.
Mike

I have looked at the result set and everything looks good to me. I have my root node and all of the form data elements under it, then I have the staff lead, and department node. Each have a child node named repeating, (I've tried different names there and it didn't make a difference.) and inside the repeating node are the values. In my remove statement I point to the either department or staff lead nodes (depending on which I need to clear.) and go through the xfa.data.nodes.remove step. What's interesting is that somehow this command is changing the visibility of subforms, which are not listed anywhere in the data DOM? I'm more confused now.

  • Remove scroll bars in dynamic form

    Hi all,
    I'm starting to kick myself every time I put a post here.  Apologies and thank you for everyone's help - slowly but shortly I'll be one of the people answering the questions.
    Really easy one (I think).  A have a dynamic form, which updates a dynamic list.  Is there a way to alter a text area in the dynamic form, so that it is a fixed area  i.e. when you get to the end of the line/characater usage, the cursor goes down to the next line rather than creating a horizontal scroll bar and running forever into the distance.  I have played around with Wrap options without luck, the css doesn;t seem to play much of a part as this is an actual text area in Dreamweaver as opposed to a CSS clipping in the list.
    Thanks again,
    Nathan

    Perfect! Thank you Albert.  Is it possible to add virtual wrap to a box in a dynamic list?  As that is not presented in a normal html form'ish style way.....?
    Hi Nathan,
    as a Dynamic List displays pure text only, you´ll need to help yourself by formatting the displayed column using PHP. There are several ways to add "virtual" line breaks, and the most straightforward (though certainly not the most elegant) solution would be to apply the PHP function wordwrap which wraps a string to a given number of characters.
    The following example will wrap the text after 40 chars, and the "wordwrap" function will - as always - have to replace ADDT´s default "KT_FormatForList" function:
    <?php echo wordwrap($row_rsqueryname1['columnname'], 40, "<br />\n"); ?>

  • Extracting data from dynamic forms

    I am new to using Livecycle and see the advantages of using dynamic forms for collecting data. I have designed several dynamic forms which include rows with 6 to 9 text fields and may be completed with 10 to 100 rows. I  have had to use text fields for collecting numeric information as many of the references start with zeros (003456).
    Whilst Acrobat Pro provides for Livecycle dynamic forms to be enabled for Acrobat Reader filling and saving is extracting to Excel the best option available if you do not have the Enerprise version of Livecycle?
    One problem I have in using Excel is that whilst the completed  PDF documents capture the leading zeros, when I view the Excel spreadsheet the lead zeros have been lost. I have experienced this problem in importing Excel files into Access. To overcome this I usually create five lead rows with characters in all the fields that I want Excel to define as text - otherwise it processes them as numerics.
    Any better ways of extracting data from a hundred or so dynamic forms?

    Hi,
    your problem is not the exported data, it's Excel that drops the leading zeros by default.
    You can use a custom pattern to keep the leading zeros.
    0#### will display intergers with up to 5 places with a leading zero.
    Value:           Displayed Value:
    012               012
    12345          12345

  • Dynamic form calling webservice everytime it changes its structure

    Hello all
    I have a dynamic form which contains some drop-down lists that are filled via webservices (in their initialize events). It also contains a dynamic table
    I have noticed that everytime I add a new row to the table the webservices are invoked again, so there's a delay for the final user to be able to enter text into the table
    How can I prevent this from happening? Where should I put the code for invoking the webservice?
    Thank you

    myForm.Page1.dropDown_offices::initialize - (JavaScript, client)
         xfa.connectionSet.webServiceConnection.execute(0); //nombre del connection
         xfa.datasets.data.loadXML(officesList.rawValue, false, false); //hidden field that stores the XML brought           by the webservice
         xfa.datasets.data.saveXML();
         var xmlOffices= xfa.datasets.data.resolveNode("officesList");
         var length = xmlOffices.nodes.length;
         for (var i=0; i < length; i++)
              this.addItem(xmlOffices.nodes.item(i).nodes.item(1).value);
         //remove the xml from the underlying form data
         xfa.datasets.data.nodes.remove(xfa.datasets.data.resolveNode("officesList"));

  • Remove the assignment blocks dynamically at runtime

    hello friends,
    i want to remove the assignmnet blocks dynamically at runtime but based on the condition data avilable or not . example for opportunity window, whether the item list assignment block is empty then only i want to delete it . for this case i have to put a validation . im using  DETACH_STATIC_OVW_VIEW method for deleting the assignmnet blocks . but in my case based on validation only i want to delete . how to do the validation. please help me out .
    thanks in advance.
    regards
    sashi

    Hello there,
    I believe the Method DETACH_STATIC_OVW_VIEWS as you mentioned is the correct one to achieve this functionality.
    Here what exactly has to be done in your scenario is not clear from your question.
    However if we consider your example; you can refer to the code excerpt below
    UI COmponent : BT111H_OPPT  ( Header Component of Opportunity)
    Class: CL_BT111H_O_OPPORTUNITYO0_IMPL
    Method : DETACH_STATIC_OVW_VIEWS
    It already has in place
    * get Details CuCo
      lr_cuco ?= me->get_custom_controller( controller_id = 'BT111H_OPPT/OpptDetailsCuCo' ).
    then it checkes the Product Items.
    You can put ou validation logic in place and do like following:
    * Competitor products on Item level
      IF lr_cuco->is_competitor_available( iv_mode = lc_item ) = abap_false.
        ls_viewid-viewid = 'BT111H_OPPT/CompProdItemOV'.
        INSERT ls_viewid INTO TABLE rt_viewid.
         ENDIF.
    Please reply if this helps.

  • My dynamic form - issue with saving data (urgent-i would greatly appreciate any help)

    Hello,
    I have some problems with this dynamic form (created in livecycle)  http://www.pathology.ubc.ca/Academic_Activity_Data_Form_Jan_4_2013.pdf .  It doesn't save data unless I add a' new row' to any of these tables.   There are a few text fileds and if I type anything in there data won't be saved unless I trigger it by adding randomly a table row.  This is big problem as this form will be used for updates and if I want to change any of my entered records I will always have to remember to 'add a new row' otherwise just adding/changing text won't be saved. This might sound confusing but you will understanding what is going on if you type in your name and save the form and then type in your name, add a table row and save the form (first case won't be saved second will).
    I would greatly appreciate any help.

  • Changing MIDI Port Order is wreaking havoc on my Environment

    Anyone seen this before?
    I've got a MOTU Midi Express with 4 ins and outs - it's my main interface.
    I've also got a Novation Remote25SL which works as a control surface/controller with 3 out ports. It requires some special Environment cabling to work properly with Logic.
    Everything was working fine until lately all my projects stopped responding to MIDI from my master keyboard...
    I eventually discovered it was because Logic had some how changed the order of MIDI ports. It used to be "Midi Express 1.... 4" followed by "Remote25SL 1...3".
    Now if I look at the "outputs & Ports" page in the Environment, it's reversed. "Remote25SL 1...3" followed by "Midi Express 1....4".
    So what? Well, the dumb cables in the environment don't move when the ports do. So the cables that used to be connected to the Remote25SL are now connected to the Motu Midi Express, which wreaks havoc on my project.
    Any ideas a) what causes this, and b) how to re-order the ports so it goes back the way it was before?
    I've tried messing around in the AudioMidi setup tool but don't see any thing here that will help.
    It points up, I think, a flaw in Logic's "logic". Environment cables should be tied to physical/logical ports, not just handed out on a 'first come, first serve' to whoever shows up on the midi bus first. The system apparently can "see" the difference between the Motu and the Novation. So why can't Logic?
    Grrr. Time to start reading the Nuendo brochures again.

    I HAVE A SOLUTION
    and it works fine for me after a series of trial and error experiments.
    Quit Logic (for now) and do the following.
    1) Download the app MidiPipe from this site:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio/midipipe.html
    2) Plug in all of your MIDI controllers (I mean, all of them)
    3) Start making one 'pipe' at a time. Think of them as 'rules' for MIDI flow.
    I wish I could post screen shots here... I can show you that I have 6 'pipes' happening.
    Why: I have these controllers (according to Logic) happening:
    Korg nanoKEYS, nanoPAD, nanoKONTROL; Alesis Photon X25; midiman (now M-Audio) midisport 2x2; Tascam US-144 (the MIDI portion)
    4) In these pipes, ONE AT A TIME, these pipes are very simple:
    -drag a •Midi In for each controller,
    -click the 'hijack' button.
    -drag a •Midi Out next,
    -create a new virtual Midi Out Port and name it. In my case I went numerically (e.g. 1 nanoPAD, 2 nanoKEYS...) just so I can see the port name is different than the input. Do what works for you here
    5) Create a new pipe, redo step 4 until you've created a new pipe for every controller you have.
    Save this Midipipe file, and open it prior to any Logic session, before you open Logic.
    6) Open Logic. In the global preferences, go to Controller Assignments (Command-K)
    and you'll have to define any custom controller data (this may not be necessary for you). But I had to change the controller listening port for all nanoKONTROL assignments. You may not have to do anything here at all.
    7) In the case of the folks trying to use two (or more) controllers, as in three keyboards at a time you still have to change one setting: and unfortunately this is not global for Logic, you'll have to change it every single project:
    -Under File>Project Settings>Recording, you need to check the box that says
    "Auto Demix by channel if multitrack recording"
    -For each virtual instrument, you need to set the Midi Channel it responds to. Generally on the left above your channel strip, named Inst 1 (2, 3, 4, ...) depending on which track you're on, click the drop-triangle and you'll see: MIDI Channel: ALL --- change it to whatever you assigned your controller to
    -After you've assigned those MIDI Channe;s per track; now arm each track you wish to record onto (or play, trigger, etc) ---arm meaning 'click the R so it's red'
    You should be good to go!
    To boil it down to simply: download MidiPipe, figure it out, define controller data if necessary, check Demix by Channel in Project Settings, Set each track's Midi Channel, Arm each track, record two (or more) parts at once.
    You'll spend 30 minutes or more figuring out MidiPipe for your setup (less if you're brilliant); anywheres up to an hour or more in Controller Assignments but you may not need to do anything here); and less than a minute for the rest. Do the heavy work once (and tweak it) -- after that, the checkboxes/Midi Channel assignments/track arming is like, 10 clicks every project.
    Good luck!
    Works great for me with this setup:
    all the controllers listed above, Logic 8.0.2, iMac 2.4Ghz, OSX 10.5.6

  • Re-display repeating XML data in dynamic form

    I have a dynamic form with repeating data in my XML that populates it. I need to display the repeating data in one of 2 different ways, depending on which business segment the user viewing it is associated with. I have tried 2 ways to accomplish this, neither has worked for me.
    Attempt 1: Create 2 separate subforms and hide the one that should not be shown. The first subform in the layout displays just fine and is populated with records, but the second subform never displays any records. This appears to be an issue with the XML node already having been parsed and displayed and does not get displayed again. Is there a way to move the cursor, or pointer, or whatever you call it in XML-speak back to the top of a repeating node to re-display data?
    Attempt 2: Create a single subform that contains 2 other subforms - one for each view, which lay atop each other. A script command hides the view the shouldn't be displayed. The problem I ran into here is that the records don't display properly. In my example, there are 3 records in the repeating section, the first displays fine, the second is missing some fields and is pulling some data from the first record. The third record displays no data at all. I deleted the one of the 2 subforms and previewed the form again, now all of the records displayed just as they should.
    Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chad

    That code also produces text in the textfield.  What "specific parts" are you trying to display?
    textfield.text = (xml.bar[0].text());
    textfield.text = (xml.bar[1].text());

  • Concatenating data in a repeating section of a dynamic form.

    I am creating a dynamic XPD template, based on an XML file with a number of repeating sections. The issue that I am currently struggling with is the need to concatenate some fields and display them within a repeating section of the document. I can get repeating section to work and I can concatenate data and display it, but I am unable to do both at the same time.
    When I follow the JavaScript example of concatenating fields in the Dunning Notice XPD template, the data shows up in the repeating section, but it never changes - only the data from the first instance of the repeating section is displayed.
    In the example data below, I want daysArrears and level to display in the same field separated by a slash, such as 224/3

    Hi dradeke,
    Thanks for your reply, which is indeed useful as clearly Adobe have made this task easier and less obscure in CS4 by adding simple interface functionality, however I'm stuck with using CS3 for the moment.  Its not majorly a problem as the video material in question can be exported uncompressed then setup with cue points using the Flash encoder as an alternative (i.e. or even After FX CS3 also) which both provide the same features as Premiere CS4 seemingly. It is just that it would be much easier to be able to drop in simple markers whilst working with Premiere CS3, as this is what we are going to be using primarily, I just wondered if anyone knew how to invoke this in CS3 - its possible you can't, the documentation is vague at best!
    However I really appreciate your response and help, thanks

  • Importing data into dynamic form

    I have not yet had a chance to work with LiveCycle, and I have been given a project which I need to determine if LiveCycle would be the correct solution. The client originally wanted this to be a Microsoft Word form, but I doubt that I can meet the requirements using Word.
    I need to design a form which a user can enter multiple line items either manually, or by importing existing data. The data itself would be about 40-50 distinct pieces of data, in a block of  several sections and multiple lines (i.e Name, Address block, Phone/fax/email, contact and comment section, etc) and would be a combination of text fields and checkboxes. There would be 2-3 of these blocks per page (with a static header/footer), plus a cover page with data fields for the organization using the form.
    I know that I could create this type of dynamic form in LiveCycle to be entered manually, but I don’t know what options, if any, I would have in giving the user the ability to import existing data from an unknown source (could be a text file, a local or hosted database, excel, etc.).
    My questions are about the feasibility of LiveCycle for this project:
    Can data be imported from a data source the user chooses? Are there any limitations to what kinds of data sources can be used? Would I need to program a custom function to allow the user to match the proper fields for the import, or is there a built in function to handle this?
    Would there be any platform/application limitations? Can the form be used with Reader on a desktop computer (Mac or PC), or on a tablet (and if so, is a specific app necessary instead of the default app)?
    Are there any other foreseeable issues I may have to deal with?

    Thanks for the info. A few followup questions if you don't mind:
    1. Needs to configure an ODBC-connection on every system it is used.
    This form will be sent to our client, and they will send it to their customers. Can the connection setup be scripted, or is it simple enough that a generic set of instruction can be given to the end user to allow them to setup the connection and map their fields to the form's content easily?
    2. Requires Acrobat or a reader-enabled from to use in Reader. Data is automatically populated in the form fields. Only xml files for import allowed. Allows to use XSLT to format imported data.
    I doubt that the end user would have their data in a compatible XML format, so this option may not be necessary. Is Reader-enabling a form in LiveCycle comparable to the process in Acrobat? I have heard LiveCycle Enterprise is very expensive and required for certain functions, does this apply here? Does this require a specific server setup for these forms?
    3. Difficult scripting to update field values automatically. Works in Reader and Acrobat.
    The data would not need to be updated automatically, just pull current data into the form. This would be a one-way operation, there would be no need to update the data source from values within the form. I would still need to give the user a way to map their fields to the form.
    Are you aware of any tutorials or example files that would help give me a start? I had a brief look at the LiveCycle Designer ES2 Scripting Reference, but I"m not sure which objects to look into.
    None of these methods will work on mobile devices as there is currently no support of XFA in Reader Mobile.
    Good to know. The same is probably true if I were to create the form in Word/Office.

  • How to map the node which i have created dynamically into the view

    Hi All,
    Many thanks to all ur answers in advance.
    I have created a node dynamically.I want to display the fields which i have fetched in that node.
    i dont know how to map the node which i have created dynamically into the layout of the view.
    Other than Using ALV is there any other way to do.
    for example usin table control

    Hi,
    use the reference variable of view to access the corresponding UI element and then use the method of that UI element to do data binding with context node.
    for ex:
    Context node = flights
    element = inputfield, ID = inp_name
    data view type ref to if_wd_view.
    data lr_inp type ref to cl_wd_input_field.
    lr_inp ?= view->get_child_element( ' INP_NAME' ).
    use following methods of input field to define the data binding.
    SET__DDIC_BINDING( )
    BOUND__PROPERTY( ).
    BOUND__PRIMARY_PROPERTY( ). " for input field it is value property.
    Get the reference of view from wddomodifyview method as importing parameter(view). Store this parameter as controller attribute.
    Thanks,
    Rahul

  • Dynamic Form Data Duplication

    I'm working on my first dynamic form, and I'm having an issue where my dynamic subforms share the same data, so editing one subform updates all other subforms of the same type. The form is a tshirt order sheet, so, for example, there'll be a line for a specific brand of shirt, plus sizes. When another line is added, it'll duplicate all the info from the first line, and any changes made to the second line will be immediately mirrored in the first line. I have the fields bound to an XML schema I wrote, so I'm not sure if that may be causing the problem.

    Hi,
    You have not included the XML schema. However the issue is that the objects in the repeating row are bound to the schema, if this is absent or if the schema only contains one node, then I am sure that all repeated instances of the row will display the same data.
    The issue is where is the data coming from? Is it from a database or is the user entering it. If the user is entering it then I would not bind those fields to a schema. Set the binding to Name/Normal.

  • Dynamic Form - Open in Acrobat - Import Data - Expand

    I have created an dynamic form with the Designer 7.0. It does repeat one line. When changing to the Desinger PDF preview, using a XML as an import file, the line gets repeated serveral times.
    What I'd like to achieve is, that I can use Acrobat 7 for this. Opening the Form as a PDF, import the Data, and the lines should repeate.
    Is this possbile?
    Do I need to do some scripting for this?
    Thankx, Cheers Harry

    Thankx to dohanlon - he provided the following information in another thread AND IT DID HELP! THANKX:
    Make sure your form is saved as a dynamic form. Other formats will not allow you to add / remove items using static / Acro 6 compatability mode.
    Also make sure your structure for the items use the following
    + Subform (Flow Content)
    + Subform (Position Content)
    + Fields, etc
    and make sure you have your Position Content Subform set to repeat.

  • Is there better way to do this?  (Xml Pretty Print | node removing)

    Hi all, I have been working at home on a small project to help my Java Jedi training. :-)
    My app saves quotes from authors in an xml file.
    I have a class [XmlRepository extends Thread] that holds control of an xml file to handle requests for Nodes.
    When I remove a node I get a Line Space above the node that was removed, or better put my node gets replaced by a empty line.
    Pretty print or correct Node removing.
    part of my xml is like this (I have resumed it for readability):
        <entities forUser="ffffffff-ffff-ffff-ffff-ffffffffffff">
            <quotes/>
            <authors>

No, there's already a new-line character after the node that was removed. And there was one before that node too. You didn't remove either of those, so after the removal there are two consecutive new-line characters. As you can see.
    And no, trying to pretty-print the XML document won't remove any of those. It might add whitespace to make the document nicely indented, but it won't ever remove whitespace. If you want whitespace removed then you'll have to do it yourself.
    For example, after you remove a node, also remove the node following it if it's a whitespace text node. Or something like that.
