XI3.0 Receiver file adapter write to windows shared drive

Hi,
Our XI server SP09 currently runs on windows 2003 server,  I wish to use the receiver file adapter to create a file on another windows server.  I have created a folder on the other server and set permissions so that anyone can read and write to it.
The communication channel has been set-up with a target directory of //server/shared_folder/folder and a transport protocol of 'File system(NFS)'
When I try and send an XML message to the file adapter I get the following error on the runtime workbench :-
Last message processing started 09:47:10 2005-06-09, Error: Message processing failed with java.lang.Exception: Message processing failed - configuration error in file receiver adapter (Directory does not exist / cannot be created)
My questions are as follows :-
a) Do I have the target directory on the communication channel set-up correctly?  i.e. do I use / or \
b) What username will need to be set-up on the other server so that the file adapter can write to the shared folder
c) Is there another way of providing user and password information for connecting to the other server?
Many thanks
Ian

Hi Ian
  as i understood from ur description is that u want ur file to b generated in some other machine then u have to mention that machine in ur SLD using correct specification..

  • FTP Receiver File adapter  -- CRLF In output File in Windows environment.

    Hi All,
    Idoc to File : Receiver File adapter.
    I use the endseparator 'nl' and the output file is coming correctly with NFS and It is not working when we are doing with with FTP.
    Tested with NFS (Unix environment)
    I used the endseparator 'nl' and the output file is coming with CRLF.
    Tested with FTP (Windows environment)
    When I tested the same the output file is coming with LF.
    I tried by using the module "SAP XI Sample/ConvertCRLFfromToLF" which will convert from LFToCRLF.But it is serving my purpose.
    Can anyone please suggest how I can get the CRLF in the file while putting in the output directory which is in windows environment.
    Thanks
    Seema

    Do not mention endSeparator in content conversion parameters...by default XI puts newline as endSeparator
    It should work for NFS and FTP on Windows

  • Receiver File Adapter Not Executing OS Command

    Hello All!
    We are currently running PI 7.1 and wish to use a Receiver File Adapter to FTP a file to a mainframe and override the FTP system defaults.
    Tried using the 'quote site recfm=fb lrecl=80' OS command but discovered that this would not work as the Adapter Engine is NOT on the mainframe.
    Regrouped a bit and made a second attempt which involved writing a Unix script to ftp a file and override rthe system defaults.   The idea was to use the File Adapter to FTP the data to the server, invoke the script and get the file to the mainframe with the proper attributes.    The script when executed on the server works perfectly.
    However, when the IDoc comes thru PI, the File Adapter ftp's the file ok but the script is never executed.
    Any ideas why this is so or any suggestions?
    Thank you.

    Hi Ken,
    Script only executes at Network File sharing (NFS) only. It dont work at FTP level.
    So you can better write the file on NFS and then within the script to connect to ftp and do your processing.

  • Need to get the Mail attachment name as it is to the receiver file adapter

    I am doing a Mail to File scenario. I need to get the attachment from the mail and store it on the file server. I am using the PayloadSwap bean in the sender mail adapter. My requirement is to carry forward the attachement name as it is to the receiver file adapter side and store the file with the same name.
    Did any one try doing this? I was looking at developing an adapter module but got struck as I could not find whether the attachement name is stored in the XI payload after it has got swapped using the swap bean.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Oops pressed the send key. Take two.
    This is becoming a damn nightmare. When I run the adapter I am getting ModuleExceptions. Can you pass your eyes over these Java config settings to see what I am doing wrong. • Receiver File Adapter - FTPEx: 550 Access denied

    Hi Experts,
    In my receiver file adapter scenario I'm getting 550 Access denied in RWB.
    I am a little confused here because I could access the FTP client from my desktop using the same User and Password informed in the Receiver CC. I also could drag and drop a file there.

    Hi Daneial,
    This is an issue due to any firewall or proxy between your Xi system and the FTP.In this case the direct logon
    works with same user but when XI tries to create file at runtime you get this error due to network issues.
    To resolve this contact your Basis/Network guys  and
    1. Set the permissions to FTP User you are using as 777 rights(full access to read , write and delete)
    2.If you have access to PI server, try to telnet /connect to ftp using command prompt (open ftp .....) the FTP server form there, you should see the same error there , inform this to your network guys.
    3.Clear all the files places already in the ftp (take backup) and test afresh after permissions are set by basis team.

  • Receiver File Adapter Content Conversion Problem.

    Hi All,
    I am getting in receiver file adapter due to content conversion setting. Problem is that all the fields coming in file adapter are optional. In content conversion , i have specified fieldfixedlengths. So whenever any optional field is not present , it fails . How should we handle it? is there any option to declare fields as optional, I know that is the there for sender adapter. But no. of fields is also very large, so putting each and every field as optional is very time consuming.
    What should i do?
    Ranjeet Singh.

    Hi Daniele,
    Instead of using the standard funciton , i created a UDF for handling this situation.
    My logic is UDF is like
       //write your code here
    int Size = Integer.parseInt(Truncate_Size);
    String Return_Value = "";
         if  (!("".equals(Input)) )
              if  (Input.length() > Size )
                   Return_Value = Input.substring(0,Size);
              else
                   Return_Value = Input.substring(0, Input.length());
         else
              for(int i = 0; i< Size ; i++)
              Return_Value = Return_Value + " " ;
    return Return_Value;
    SO in this case also , it should be able to handle empy source element. But it is not working.

  • How to create multiple files with Receiver File Adapter in SAP PI 7.31 Java Stack

    Dear Friends,
    I am using Sender JDBC Adapter and Receiver File Adapter in Integration Flow in SAP PI 7.3 EHP 1 SP08 Java Stack environment. The requirement is that we need to create multiple files based on the row count in jdbc resultset. If there are 5 rows in resultset, we need to create 5 XML files with one row elements in one file. Similarly if there are 10 rows, we need to create 10 XML files.
    So how can we create multiple files in this scenario. I tried placing a for loop in the Java Mapping as below in the transform method:
    DynamicConfiguration conf = arg0.getDynamicConfiguration();
    StringBuffer sbFileData = new StringBuffer();
    for (int i =0; i < record.size(); i++ {
         . // Create XML for each row and Marshal the object into to the String Buffer
         String strFileName = "DC_" + new SimpleDateFormat("ddMMyyyyHHmm").format(new java.util.Date())+"_"+i+".xml";
         conf.put(KEY_FILENAME, strFileName);
         arg1.getOutputPayload().getOutputStream().write(sbFileData.toString().getBytes("UTF-8"));
         arg1.getOutputPayload().getOutputStream().flush();
    So here I'm flushing the OutputStream for each record. But it's not creating the multiple file, instead it creates only one file will all record XMLs appended to each other.
    Please let me know if I missing something or need to do some thing else.
    Regards,
    Shreyansh Shah

    Hi
    You can easily achieve this using graphical mapping.  Create your target message type like below
    MT_Target
      Details  0 to 1
          Data  0 to 1
    Source sample structure
    <resultset>
    <row>
    <column-name>column-value</ column-name>
    </row>
    Then do the message mapping like below
    map <row> with  MT_Target
    contant ----> Deatils
    column-name ------>Data
    In the signature tab of message mapping, choose the occurrence of your target message type as
    0 to unbounded.
    This will generate multiple files from multiple rows.
    Let me know if you have any doubt.

  • The same filename from a sender to a receiver file adapter - SP14

    Hi Expers,
    I Have Gone through the link which is given bu Michal.
    /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/11/10/xi-the-same-filename-from-a-sender-to-a-receiver-file-adapter--sp14
    Here My Questions are.........
    1.Should we give any file name in the receiver side Adapter in this scenario.?????
    2.How wil be the Sender and Receiver Communication channel Parameters????
      What Are they???????
    Please Clarify me...
    Regards
    Khanna

    Hi Rajesh,
    Is your query related to sending the file name from the source xml document to the reciever file adapter. If so this can be achieved.
    Pls. do the following.
    1. In the mapping program that you are using populate the filename coming from the source into the target root element.
    2.Sender adapters can write adapter-specific attributes to the message header; these can then be evaluated at configuration time
    3. To change the adapter-specific attributes of the message header by using message mappings, you access the required classes of the mapping API by using a mapping runtime constant.
    <b>Note: You donot need to specify any filename in the receiver communication channel.</b>
    To access the classes DynamicConfiguration and DynamicConfigurationKey by using the mapping runtime constant DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION, use the method getTransformationParameters() of the container object.
    Create an simple user defined function in the mapping and use the following code.
    Imports: com.sap.aii.mapping.api.*;
    Parameter: String filename
    Paramter: String filename;
    filename = fileName + ".DAT";
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container
    .getTransformationParameters()
    .get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create( "http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File", "FileName");
    conf.put(key, filename);
    return filename;
    You donot need to hard code the value of the filename in the file adapter for your interface.
    In SXMB_MONI, when you see the pipeline services you would see that the value of the filename is populated in the message payload.
    Thanks

  • How to generate file name dynamically in receiver FIle adapter? Please help

    Dear Experts,
       I have a scenario where I need to generate output file with the name dynamically pulled from the XI payload.
       In receiver File communication channel I don't see any option where we can specify the XML path for the file name.
       For example:
       If my inbound XML structure (inbound interface) is like below:
       <filename>file123.txt</filename>
       <RootNode>
             <Element1>Product123</Element1>
       <RootNode>
      From this I need to pick the filename value and generate the output file with the same value.

    Gopal,
    You can use DynamicConfiguration class for this.
    You need to write UDF for this and with input of filename you want to set and map this UDF to the top level node.
    Refer the below famous blog from Micheal:
    /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/11/10/xi-the-same-filename-from-a-sender-to-a-receiver-file-adapter--sp14
    You can also use Variable substitution to get value from payload, search SDN on this.

  • OS Command for receiver file adapter

    Hi Guys,
    I have a requirement that in the target folder before putting the file, I have to rename the exisitng file then put the file. The target folder is in another machine and I have to use FTP option to send file.
    is it possible to use OS command after processing option in the receiver file adapter to do this? please let me know how to handle this.
    Thanks
    Mukesh

    Mukesh,
    You cannot rename the file in the FTP folder. What you can do is write a OS script where it logs in into the FTP site and renames the file. Then use this OS script before message processing so that it renames the file before you write the actual file.
    If you want to rename a file which is on the applicaiton server using NFS then you can directly rename it from the command prompt.

  • Repeating structure through the receiver file adapter

    I wanted to ask wheter it is possible to create repeating structure through the SAP xi receiver file adapter. What I'm trying to accomplish is this:
    Item1
    Item2
    Item1
    Item2
    (variable number of times).
    I can accomplish the following:
    Item1
    Item1
    Item2
    Item2
    What I could do is have the Item1 and Item2 fields in the same segment in the design time, but this would mean the file adapter would write all the items on a single line instead of two.
    There is no way to define line breaks between the the receiver file adapter field parameters ?
    There is no way to support nested structures in the recordset definition ie. Item1.Item2 ?

    Henri,
    What Vishal means is following:
    Add sequences of the tag <recordset> between pairs of item1, item2:
    <documentName>
       <<b>recordset</b>>
         <item1>
           <field-item1>column-value</field-item1>
           <field-item1>column-value</field-item1>
           <field-item1>column-value</field-item1>
         </item1>
         <item2>
           <field-item2>column-value</field-item2>
           <field-item2>column-value</field-item2>
           <field-item2>column-value</field-item2>
         </item2>
       </<b>recordset</b>>
       <<b>recordset</b>>
         <item1>
           <field-item1>column-value</field-item1>
           <field-item1>column-value</field-item1>
           <field-item1>column-value</field-item1>
         </item1>
         <item2>
           <field-item2>column-value</field-item2>
           <field-item2>column-value</field-item2>
           <field-item2>column-value</field-item2>
         </item2>
       </<b>recordset</b>>
    </documentName>
    A similar problem with header and items is in this thread:

    Hope that helps,

  • Attachments for receiver file adapter

    Hello gurus,
    I think receiver file adapter does not support attachments. But I do have a scenario where I receive additional files as SOAP payloads accompanying  the request message and I have to write them to a network directory. How can I achieve this?

  • What is the best way to export a .csv/.txt file to a MS Windows shared folder via a scheduled job?

    What is the best way to export a .csv/.txt file to a MS Windows shared folder, when the export process is a scheduled job?

    You can't directly, as scheduled jobs can only export to server-side data stores, which can only write to the landing area. You'll need to use an external script (e.g. batch file) to move the file from the landingarea after export. You can use an external task in the scheduled job to invoke the script.
