i hv installed Xmanager for GUI access
we have hp ux os and oracle 9i
through xmangar if i m opening new terminal and running any oracle utility is giving me error

I am instaling oracle 10g on solaris through xmanager(X terminal), first i installed oracle 10g software only and i invoked dbca through xmanager after 80% of database creation completes my session will die i tried 4 times same problem, any body have faced the same problem, advice greately appreciated.

Enhanced Storage Problem in Solaris Management Console Started in XManager

I have Sun Fire 480 with solaris 5.9 installed on it. I use XManager 1.3.9 on windows 2000 workstation to connect to it and launch Solaris Management Console (smc). After starting smc I point to Management Tools -> This Computer (sf480dbs) -> Storage -> Enhanced Storage. At that moment Log In dialog appears and I give root user name and password. After a few seconds SMC disappears (exits). If I look at CDE Error log there is the following exception

Try search the WEB for your display adapter drivers. However, most of new especially intergated graphics are still not supported.
You may try to get it working with xsun, run kdmconfig and specify as display adapter VGA or Super VGA. I know that in some cases it helps.
As well do the same with Xorg and run /usr/X11/bin/xorgcfg, try to find somekind of generic VGA in drivers that are listed there.
As I know, smc runs only in graphical mode.
I saved the settings and pressed F2 for testing. I could see the displayDid you see buttons on that display (something like "yes", "no")?
xsun is very hard to set with most of display adapters and monitors, sometimes it shows only part of the screen, so you might not to see these buttons. However if you see them, press "yes" (or something like that, I dont exactly remember). Then reboot and your computer should start the GUI.

Steps to enable "-Xmanagement" option in JRockit JVM?

I am trying to enable the "-Xmanagement" option in the Jrockit JVM 1.4.2_04 to enable the management server to listen to the JVM running on our server. Therefore, we can use the JRA to profile our JVM in realtime, using the JRockit Management console.
We are running W2K3 and use the registry to pass all the necessary options (i.e. -classpath, verbose:gc, min/max heap size, -D options etc.) when starting the Weblogic service. However, when I attempt to add the -Xmanagement option to anywhere in the registry setting, the service will fail to start, regardless of where I place the option in the field.
If I cannot set this option, I recieve the below error when attempting to connect to the server via the management console ( I have tried various ports as well )

Hi Helena,
Below are the values from the registry key we are passing to the weblogic service.
We do not use any of the "Start(WLS)(Weblogic).cmd" scripts to start the Weblogic service, only the WSM (Windows Service Manager).
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

JRockit with -Xmanagement & JBoss 4 does not start

Hi,
I tried to start JBoss 4 with the management console:
a fresh JBoss 4, just compiled from source with no special application on it, that starts alright with JRockit without the management console (and also with Sun JVM jdk 1.5).
Does anybody know why not?
I would be very glad to get around this!

From what I understand, Xmanager uses xdmcp protocol, which is obsolete and not considered secure and to be avoided by today's standards. If you still want to got that path, here seems to be a good tutorial I found with Google: http://it.megocollector.com/?p=740
If your task is to make a remote windows session to your Linux server, it will be better to look into VNC or X-forwarding using SSH. You can find some useful info here at Re: Remote Desktop and need to set env variables

Unable to run weblogic after -Xmanagement in setDomainEnv.sh-Sparc-Unix?

This a basic question related to Jrockit configuration in Weblogic server in Unix OS(Sun sparc).
I apply the following Jrockit parameter for remote discovery of the server attributes in the 'setDomainEnv.sh' file .

However , I get the following error during server startup which shuts down my managed server.

I tried two different things to have my process non root owned:
1) Ran startWeblogic as a non root user.
I could not connect to the port and got the error message

2) Ran startweblogic as a root user, but enabled post bin UID and set it to the non root user.
It seemed to work fine, but the proccess remained root owned even after binding. I need the process to be non root owned.

I am able to connetct from JRMC. After removing -Xmanagement all is working.

Can you please take a thread dump and copy paste the stack trace for the Thread called "main" thread.
Please take atleast 3 thread dumps with an interval of 10 seconds and paste the "main" thread stack trace from all the 3 thread dumps.
After analyzing the stack trace we might be able to determine where it is hanging and thus giving us a clue where the issue could be.

I was facing issue with getting session of solaris 10 on xmanager . please go through following steps to enable xmanager for solaris 10 .
1> edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config
# X11 tunneling options
X11Forwarding yes
X11DisplayOffset 10
X11UseLocalhost yes
2> /etc/init.d/dtlogin start

Remotely connect to UNIX server using Xmanager

Hi,
I am using Xmanager (on a windows XP machine) to connect to the remote solaris 9 UNIX server (GUI), but I cannot see the login window.
a gray full screen window is appeared.
Are there any ports I have to enable on the firewall to allow this connection or I have to do some configuration for this on my Solaris 9 server??!!!

Based on your description, it seems that you can connect to SQL Server instance remotely via VPN with SQL Server authentication. But it is failed when connect with Windows authentication.
The issue may occurs when the client cannot send the user credentials to DC via the VPN network. For example, the DC server had specify an IPSEC policy that restricts access from VPN.
Currently, it is hard to interpret without more detail information, please post the error message for further analysis. You can get more details about the failed connection by review the SQL Server error log.By default, the error log is located
at Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.n\MSSQL\LOG\ERRORLOG.

Connecting through Xmanager

Unable to get the CDE when connecting through Xmanager from a windows PC. Error reported is XDCMP connection failed.
Tried the following command but of no use
$ xterm -ls -display $DISPLAY:0.0
Telnet to Solaris 8 on E450 Server hangs automatically after a few minutes.

Xmanager acces from remote causes Xerrors dtlogin received signal 11

I am running Solaris 2.8 on a Ultra 10 ( 512MB)
Xwindows /CDE on the console is running fine,
when attempting to log on to the system from an external x-windows ( pc)
via dtlogin the login screen does not appear.
/var/dt/Xerrors containts:
dtlogin: received signal 11
Any clues what configuration could cause the process to abort.

Thanks for the replies, folks. The statistics I have posted ARE from the Test connection, it's been in the Test socket since the last time I had this malarkey ... I had forgotten that was the case, I don't know if it's the wrong thing.
I understand about the profile banding, which is why last time the wet weather cleared away I was asking BT for a profile reset to get me back to speed promptly but it never happened, everyone ignored my request and just checked their part of the system and so it took over two weeks to come back up to 11Mb/s. Which was not the 14 I had been enjoying.

It's running only a little light surfing on BT and a torrent stream limited to 40kB/s because that's stable.

How to disable GUI from dispalying from CentOS to X server (XManager 3)

i have a RAC system installed and normally login to both boxes remotely using my laptop, at some point i wanted to install the listener using a GUI so i decided to use XManager3 but had problems connecting, so i decided to install the listener on the box itself but now i have a problem because when a run the netca command i get an error

how can i disable X server on my host, because the problem is, when i run the netca command on my host (linux1) it is looking to display it on the X server whereas i just want it to display the GUI from the host console

oh my, another X question.
setup an X server on your local machine (like Xming) or use MAC or linux, and use ssh -X to tunnel X.
the ssh daemon will arrange the DISPLAY, no manual intervention is needed after logging in using ssh -X.
