XML assign name to a string

Hi All,
In my application I need to save some data into a file, using XML functions. I created my own string containing the date (as "03/05/2006, 04:25 PM") using Get Date/Time String and Concatenate Strings and I sent the result to Flatten to XML. The value is saved in the XML file, but the <Name> tag is left blank. How can I assign a value for the Name tag?
Regards,
Nick

Nick
This seems to work. I have used the typecast function to inherit the "Date And Time" label property which then fills out the tag Name for you.

  • Assigning Name to XML file

    Hi Y'all,
    I'd like the XML file name being submitted with "Submit via Email" button be value entered in one of the required text fields.
    In current case name of the field is ClubNumber. For xample if user entered 22155 in the field, the XML file would be named 22155.xml.
    How can I do that?
    Thanks,

    You can set the subject line using the ?subject= parameter in the mailto target. For example:
    if (SCODAchievementsData.rawValue != null)
    var oSubmitTarget = this.resolveNode("#event.#submit").target;
    var nLoc = oSubmitTarget.indexOf("?subject=");
    if (nLoc > -1)
    var target = oSubmitTarget.substring(0, nLoc);
    this.resolveNode("#event.#submit").target = target + "?subject=" + SCODAchievementsData.rawValue;

  • How to read elements in a xml file sent as a string

    Hi,
    I am new to BPEL and i am working on a requirement where i receive the XML message as a String from an AQ. And I am not able parse the xml to read the individual elements of it. Appreciate your help on this.
    The (sample)input message from Q is which i am able to see in the BPEL console:
    <BUGINFO_XML>
    <XML_MESSAGE>
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <BUGINFO>
    <SR_ID>3-29OU7OF</SR_ID>
    <OBJECT_TYPE>UPDATE_PREBUG</OBJECT_TYPE>
    <RESERVED_BUG_NUM>8221084</RESERVED_BUG_NUM>
    <TYPE>Predefect Update</TYPE>
    <AUDIENCE>INTERNAL</AUDIENCE>
    <COMMENT>TEST activity by Sireesha</COMMENT>
    </BUGINFO>
    </XML_MESSAGE>
    </BUGINFO_XML>
    and the corresponding xsd file is:
    <schema targetNamespace="http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb/ORIONCC"
    xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:ORIONCC="http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb/ORIONCC"
    elementFormDefault="unqualified" attributeFormDefault="qualified">
    <complexType name="BUGINFO_XML">
    <sequence>
    <element name="XML_MESSAGE" type="string" nillable="true" minOccurs="0"/>
    </sequence>
    </complexType>
    <element name="BUGINFO_XML" type="ORIONCC:BUGINFO_XML" />
    </schema>
    i have created a variable(called VariableXML) of element type of the above xsd type({http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb/ORIONCC}BUGINFO_XML) and using ora:parseEscapedXML method, i copied the input data to this variable and i can see the data copied fine to this variable, but after that i am not able to traverse to the individual element of it say i want the value of SR_ID which i am not able to get.
    <VariableXML>
    <BUGINFO_XML>
    <SR_ID>3-29OU7OF</SR_ID>
    <OBJECT_TYPE>UPDATE_PREBUG</OBJECT_TYPE>
    <RESERVED_BUG_NUM>8221084</RESERVED_BUG_NUM>
    <TYPE>Predefect Update</TYPE>
    <AUDIENCE>INTERNAL</AUDIENCE>
    <COMMENT>TEST activity by Sireesha</COMMENT>
    </BUGINFO_XML>
    </VariableXML>
    When i see the structure of this variable in the Assign activity i can see only up to '/ns2:BUGINFO_XML/XML_MESSAGE' but not the individual elements.
    Please let me know how can i parse this xml to read the elements of it.
    I am using jdev 11.1.1.4 and weblogic 10.3
    Thanks,

    Thanks for replying Tarak,
    I have taken the XML generated by VariableXML variable and generated a XSD out of it and that looks like below.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252" ?>
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns="http://www.example.org"
    targetNamespace="http://www.example.org"
    elementFormDefault="qualified">
    <xsd:element name="BUGINFO_XML">
    <xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="SR_ID" type="xsd:string"/>
    <xsd:element name="OBJECT_TYPE" type="xsd:string"/>
    <xsd:element name="RESERVED_BUG_NUM" type="xsd:integer"/>
    <xsd:element name="TYPE" type="xsd:string"/>
    <xsd:element name="AUDIENCE" type="xsd:string"/>
    <xsd:element name="COMMENT" type="xsd:string"/>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    </xsd:schema>
    Then I have created a variable called VariableBugInfo of this element type ({http://www.example.org}BUGINFO_XML) and tried parsing it as below.
    <assign name = 'Assign2'>
    <copy>
    <from expression="oraext:parseXML(bpws:getVariableData('VariableXML','/ns2:BUGINFO_XML'))"/>
    <to variable="VariableBugInfo" query="/ns4:BUGINFO_XML"/>
    </copy>
    </assign>
    then i got the below error in the bpel console when im testing my bpel process.
    The following exception occurred while attempting to execute operation copy at line 118
    <?xml-stylesheet href="chrome://global/locale/intl.css" type="text/css"?>

    but when i tried a normal copy from VariableXML BUGINFO to VariableBugInfo as below, i am not getting any error but its not actually copying the contents to individual tags, because after this Assign i created a simple string variable(objTypeVar) and when i tried to copy TYPE element value to it, it says 'The result is empty for the XPath expression : "/ns4:BUGINFO_XML/ns4:TYPE".'
    <assign name="Assign2">
    <copy>
    <from variable="VariableXML" query="/ns2:BUGINFO_XML"/>

    <assign name="Assign3">

    <from variable="VariableBugInfo"
    query="/ns4:BUGINFO_XML/ns4:TYPE"/>
    <to variable="objTypeVar"/>
    </copy>
    </assign>
    Result in console for VariableBugInfo for Assign2:
    <VariableBugInfo>

    <TYPE>Predefect Update</TYPE>
    <AUDIENCE>INTERNAL</AUDIENCE>
    <COMMENT>TEST activity by Sireesha</COMMENT>
    </BUGINFO_XML>
    </VariableBugInfo>
    For Assign 3:
    Error in evaluate <from> expression at line "141". The result is empty for the XPath expression : "/ns4:BUGINFO_XML/ns4:TYPE".
    I feel there is something i am missing in the XSD and the target namespace which is causing the issue. I am not sure what i should provide in the target namesapce in the new xsd which i created based on the value of VariableXML , so that it actually parses the xml and copies exact elements of it.
    Please let me know if i am doing something wrong anywhere.
    Thanks,
    Sireesha

  • Two classes have the same XML type name??? Please, help...

    Hello!
    I have a simple web service class. I generated the ws server-side classes using wsgen.
    I created a jar file from the generated code.

  • Dynamically Using  XML Element name as column names

    I have a requirement where I need to show data for 31 days or days of the month based on the data in the xml result.
    Based on the month you are running the report, some may have 28 elements and some may have 31 elements in the data for days.
    How do I dynamically show 28 columns or 31 columns etc - the trick here is I have to use the name of the XML element and not the value for column names.
    My requirement is like this.
    Deal --------01 -------- 02 -------- 03 -------- 04 05 .upto ... 31days

    How can I use the XML Element name - in this case I need to remove the "Day" and use just the number part for the column name.
    I can't have xml element names as numbers, thats why "Day" string is prefixed.

  • Tomcat web.xml "display-name" using flex.messaging.MessageBrokerServlet

           Hello,
    When my web application starts with the BlazeDS servlet flex.messaging.MessageBrokerServlet defined in the web.xml we have an error because in the display-name defined at top level in web.xml we have some text containing character ':'. The error is traced to inside the function
             flex.management.BaseControl.getObjectName()
    Which gets the object name, and this function calls
       BaseControl.getApplicationId()
    which finally calls
    ServletConfig.getServletContext().getServletContextName()
    This will return or display-name from the web.xml with all  it's text. This text contains among other characters the character ':'.  We use this tag for the display in the Tomcat Manager to see version  number and other of deployed project.
    After retrieving this name it is appended in the getObjectName() function to a buffer, this StringBuffer that already contains flex.runtime. and  now this name is appended (still with all that we are using for Tomcat  Manager with ':' character and other). After the name, other things are  appended. Our problem is that, after constructing this StringBuffer an instance of javax.management.ObjectName is created. In it's constructor it takes a String name  as input. This String is parsed in base of characters ':', '*', '?',  '\n' and so on, and since we have some of these characters in our  display-name it all goes wrong.
       My question is, if this is a bug, a limitation or if it is documented that using flex.messaging.MessageBrokerServlet we can not use certain characters in the display-name of the web.xml?

    I have found that this is a bug and there is an issue open at the "Adobe Bug and Issue Management System", BLZ-617. I don't know if work is in progress, but when that issue is closed the problem will be solved.
      Greetings, Tim

  • XSU error oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Conversion to String failed

    Appication Server: 10g, Database: Oracle 9i and Oracle 10g
    I have a table 'sw_icd2' in the database that has one column of XMLType.
    The code below, attempts to query this table as 'select * from sw_icd2' and display the result. I was able to execute this query in sqlplus.
    But when I run a program using XSU in JDeveloper:
    OracleXMLQuery qry = new OracleXMLQuery(conn, "select * from sw_icd2");
    XMLDocument domDoc = (XMLDocument)qry.getXMLDOM();
    domDoc.print(System.out);
    StringWriter s = new StringWriter(10000);
    domDoc.print(new PrintWriter(s));
    System.out.println(s.toString());
    qry.close();
    I get the following Error:
    "oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Conversion to String failed"
    Any ideas on how I can resolve this issue? Your help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Okay, it looks like the problem has something to do with the TIMESTAMP data type in tables.
    oracle.xml.sql.query.OracleXMLQuery can't seem to handle tables with the TIMESTAMP data type.
    this code ran fine on my machine :
    import oracle.jdbc.driver.*;
    import oracle.xml.sql.query.OracleXMLQuery;
    import java.lang.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class testXMLSQL {
         public static void main(String[] args) {
    try {
    // Create the connection
    System.out.println("before getConnection ");
    Connection conn = getConnection("scott","tiger");
    System.out.println("after getConnection ");
    // Create the query class
    OracleXMLQuery qry = new OracleXMLQuery(conn, "SELECT * FROM EMP");
    System.out.println("after OracleXMLQuery object created ");
    // Get the XML string
    String str = qry.getXMLString();
    // Print the XML output
    System.out.println("The XML output is:\n"+str);
    // Always close the query to get rid of any resources..
    qry.close();
    } catch(SQLException e) {
    System.out.println(e.toString());
    // Get the connection given the user name and password.!
    private static Connection getConnection(String username,
    String password)
    throws SQLException
    // register the JDBC driver..
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new
    oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    // Create the connection using the OCI8 driver
    Connection conn =
    DriverManager.getConnection(
    "jdbc:oracle:thin:@<server_name>:1521:<sid>",
    username,password);
    return conn;
    Then I created another table :
    create table emp_test as select * from emp;
    added a timestamp to it :
    alter table emp_test add (time timestamp(6));
    and filled it with timestamp information :
    update emp_test set time = timestamp'2005-09-22 09:26:50.124';
    ran the same code but changed the SQL to :
    "SELECT * FROM EMP_TEST"
    and got the error message :
    The XML output is:
    <?xml version = '1.0'?>
    <ERROR>oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Conversion to String failed</ERROR>
    looks like bug in OracleXMLQuery object??

  • Unmarshalling Xml with Name value pair

    HI,
    Can anyone tell how to unmarshall such a sort of XML format
    <GetDeadlineOffset>
    <deadlineCode>DeadlineCode</deadlineCode>
    <parameters>
    <parameter name="Name1" value="Value1"/>
    <parameter name="Name2" value="Value2"/>
    </parameters>
    </GetDeadlineOffset>
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Take you original XSD, duplicate it(give another name) and just change it.
    For example:
    From
    <element name="input">
              <complexType>
                   <sequence>
                        <element name="name" type="string"/>
    <element name="value" type="string"/>
                   </sequence>
              </complexType>
         </element>
    To
    <element name="input">
              <complexType>
                   <sequence>
                        <element name="date" type="string"/>
    <element name="year" type="string"/>
                   </sequence>
              </complexType>
         </element>
    After that create new variable of type element base on you new XSD file.

  • Splitting out string, using the results to lookup reference, then returning the reference name as a string?

    I have a field that contains a comma separated string of sys_id’s that relate to another table.
    I am trying to write a query that returns the name value from the reference table, so that the result is a comma separated string of the name field.
    Can anyone help with the SQL required to split out the sys_id’s, do the look-up and return the names back into a string?
    Table1
    Number
    Category
    1001
    Sys_id1, Sys_id3, Sys_id9
    1002
    Sys_id3
    1003
    Sys_id4,Sys_3
    1004
    Sys_id1, Sys_id9, Sys_id10, Sys_id6
    Category Reference Table
    Category Sys_id
    Category_Name
    Sys_id1
    Consulting
    Sys_id3
    Negotiate
    Sys_id4
    Planning
    Sys_id6
    Building
    Sys_id9
    Receipt
    Sys_id10
    Complete
    The result I am looking for would be.
    Number
    Category
    1001
    Consulting, Negotiate, Receipt
    1002
    Negotiate
    1003
    Planning, Negotiate
    1004
    Consulting, Receipt, Complete, Building

    I am not going to arguee regarding your model, but you should consider normalizing it.
    The idea is to have a function to split the string and return a row for each element in the list. Dump the result into a table and then use FOR XML PATH to do the string aggregation.
    To learn about different methods you could use to create the split function refer to this article.

    I got the same exception with the following code:
    stringVarible="someString"+someMethod.getValue();
    here getValue returns String.But sometimes it may return null valu also.when it returns null value,the same SQL Exception will occure becuse we are trying to save a string in SQL which is blank padded.
    I think your code is also having the similar problem.

  • How can I get rid of "_data" behind xml file name

    Hello everybody,
    I use xfa.host.exportData("",0) to export xml file which I cann't appoint the name of xml. After I click the exporting button, a window jumps and fill the xml file name automatically, the name is "PDF file name_data.xml", in Adobe Reader Chinese version, "_data" will be translated by Chinese word, so it is not convenience to unify the method of getting xml.
    My problem is if I can get rid of the postfix "_data" in xml file name? I doulbt maybe I can set in LiveCycle Designer, but I can't find out at present.
    Thanks in advance!
    Enlly

    Hello radzmar
    Thank you for you soon reply!
    I learned about the function exportData(), and my form is not certified, so I use exportData("",0) to export xml file. After I click the export button, it will jump out a window to ask for selecting the path, where users want to save the xml file, and, in this window, LiveCycle will fill xml file name automatically by "xxxx_data" (xxxx is the pdf form name). I just wonder if I can avoid "_data" ?
    Do you have any idea? Thanks!

  • Dynamic XML file names in ODI

    Hi All,
    Is there a way can we call the XML names dynamically.?
    Here is the Scenario,
    I have multiple XML files of same structure to be loaded into an Oracle table.
    I have first created a XML dataserver and have given the exact path and the file name for reversing the XML model for the first time. The JDBC url was,
    jdbc:snps:xml?f=/xml/file/#XML_TEST.FILE_TEST.xml&s=XML_TEST&dod=true&ro=true
    After reversing i have changed the JDBC url of the XML dataserver to,
    jdbc:snps:xml?f=/xml/file/#XML_TEST.var_FILE_NAME.xml&s=XML_TEST&dod=true&ro=true
    I have created a variable *#XML_TEST.var_FILE_NAME* to get all the XML file names.
    After that i tried to view the data from the datastores present under previously reversed XML model, but was getting the following error :
    java.sql.SQLException: While generating the DTD from the XML file, a org.xml.sax.SAXParseException exception occurred saying: Document root element is missing.
    Do I need to change anything in the XML model or in the Datastores?
    Warm Regards,
    VBV

    Since you are using the Variable ,when you right click and view datastore its missing the required path of the file, as value of the variable is not determined , to do so you need to either refresh or set the variable and call the interface or other ODI objects and in loop keep reading XML files one by one and that should work.

  • JDBC Adapter-XML Document Name

    I am working on XI 2.0 and need to change the XML document name I am receiving from an inbound JDBC adapter.  The document I am receiving is:
    <resultset>
      <row>
        <col1>ABC</col1>
        <col2>123</col2>
      </row>
    </resultset>
    I want to receive:
    <MyDocumentName>
      <row>
        <col1>ABC</col1>
        <col2>123</col2>
      </row>
    </MyDocumentName>
    Does anyone know how to override the default "resultset" name from the JDBC adapter???  The reason I need to do this is because my message mapping does not work properly unless I have the Message type of the message from my JDBC adapter as "resultset".
    Thanks for your help!
    Dan Pettingill

    (Note: I work with Dan Pettingill, the starter of this thread)
    I decompiled the class Renato suggested, but I don't
    think that's going to be the solution.  The DB2XMBProcesser is dependent on XI properly setting the properties values for the jdbc adapter.  DB2XMBProcesser will use a property named "db.documentname" to set the name of the root node of the DB2 results. If no such property is defined, the default value of resultSet is used.
    [documentName = getParaWithDefault("db.documentName", "resultset");]
    Our problem seems to be that XI is not passing along the parameters we define in the adapter configuration.  We've tried numerous combinations and names, but they never take.
    The only way we can get XI to recognize that we are sending in a documentName parm is to call it "docName".  Any other name is essentially ignored (including db.documentname, documentname, XMB.docName, and a lot of other permutations as well).
    But here is the log from that adapter when we do so.  Not that it sees the value we're setting, but it won't set the documentname parm going to the jdbc.
