XML Insert into database by direct http request from browser

I want to ask if it is possible to pass a xml filename which valuse should be stored in the database directly by a http request of i.e. IE 5.5.
I mean perhaps such a construction: http://pcziegl/Test_Insert.xsql?posted-xml=http://pcziegl/Test_Insert.xml

The xsql page looks like:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<xsql:insert-request xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsql" connection="test" table="test"/>
The xml to be inserted:
<?xml version="1.0"?>

• XML document convert into String and Insert into Database

Hello all,
In the FIle to File Scenario I want to send the data to the Reciever System in xml Document and convert into String and insert into Database.
Please can you tell me exact way how to send it.
Thanks & Regards,
Raj

HI,
As per my understanding your scenario is File to file where you will get output fiel in XML format.
Now that XMl payload need to be passed as single string in the database via XI.
You cauld do this but you need to imply some manipulations such as
With the help of standard API you need to concatenate the XML tags and create the structre along with the data.
For e.g. in your outpuf file the XML structre contain data as
<field1>ABCD</field1>
Then in mapping
The source field will be mappeda s concat(<field1>) + value of Source field "ABCD" + concat(</field1>) to the target field.
This is the way that you could achive the requirments else there is no direct way avaialble for it.
thanks

• How do I convert an XML insert into ordinary text?

I have a fm9 file, about half of it is in elements that can be directly edited through the structured view, but the other half seems to be ax xml insert which is awkward to edit. Is there any way to import this xml insert into the document so it consists of 'ordinary' elements alongside the elements already in there, and is also manageable in the same way as the elements already in the structured view. Thanks.

A little background....
If you have a structured fm file, you can insert by reference (a text inset) another file that contains structure. I am assuming that the inserted file uses the same set of elements (same element catalog) as the containing file, or the result would not be valid. Now click on the text inset to select it, and select Edit > Text Inset Properties. In the dialog, click Convert. This converts the text inset into editable ELEMENTS, not text; it is the same as if you had imported the inserted file by copy. You can now edit those inserted elements as part of the containing file; in fact, they ARE part of the file, no longer connected to the original inserted file.
I have never used text inset XML. But I am guessing that the elements in the XML file are compatible (i.e., the same set) with the elements in the containing file; otherwise, the resulting file would not be valid. So, I am guessing that all you need to do is the same as with a standard structured text inset, that is, follow the same instructions as above.
If this is not what you are trying to do, please clarify.

• Pool data from text file and insert into database

Can anyone tell me how to pool data from a text file and insert into database?
let's say my text file is in this format
123456 Peter 22
234567 Nicholas 24
345678 Jane 20
Then I need to insert the all the value for this three column into a table which has the three column name ID, Name, Age
Anyone knows? I need to do this urgently...Thank in advanced

1. Use BufferedReader and read the file line by line.
2. Loop thru the file and do the following steps with in this loop.
3. Use StringTokenizer to seperate each line into three values (columns).
4. Now create a insert statement with these values and add the statement to the batch (using addBatch() method of PreparedStatement or Statement).
5. Finally (after exiting the loop), execute these batch of statements (using ps.executeBatch()).

• Date not changing based on timezone during insert into database...

I have a bpel project that gets data in GMT and insert into a database that's based on EST timezone...for some reason during insert into database, I expect it to reflect the time in EST time, but it's not doing so. It's a standard oracle bpel project and there was no customization to the date input. The following are the details:
input data:
<InvoiceDate>
<GLogDate>20110613213249</GLogDate>
<TZId>UTC</TZId>
<TZOffset>+00:00</TZOffset>
</InvoiceDate>
date I get after transformation:
<ns5:invoiceDate> 2011-06-13T21:32:49 </ns5:invoiceDate>
date that gets inserted into the database:
6/13/2011 9:32:49 PM
Any thoughts as to what's going on? Is this the intended fuctionality or how does it adjust itself to the daylight saving? I thought database itself would handle it in this case.
Thanks,
Amkay

From your description, it sounds totally like you are using Manually Scheduled tasks, which is not what you should be using in your project. If you look at the Gantt bars in the Gantt Chart view of your project, if the Gantt bars are a turquoise color,
you are using Manually Scheduled tasks, and that would be the reason that the dates do not automatically calculate for you. If this is the case, click the Select All button to select every task in the project. In the Tasks section of your Task
ribbon, click the Auto Schedule button. From this point forward, your project schedule will automatically recalculate every time you make any kind of schedule edit.
Also, in the lower left corner of the Microsoft Project application window, you will probably see a button that says New Tasks: Manually Scheduled. Click this button and select the Auto Scheduled option.
To avoid all of these problems in all future projects, click File > Options. In the Project Options dialog, click the Schedule tab. In the Scheduling Options for This Project section, click the pick list where you see the name of your project
and select the All New Projects item on the pick list. Click the New Tasks Created pick list and select the Auto Scheduled option. Click the OK button.
Hope this helps.

• Loading XML files into Database table

Loading XML files into Database table
Hi I have some XML files say 100 files in a virtual directory created using "Create or replace directory command" and those files need to be loaded into a table having a column of XMLTYPE. 1)How to load that using Oracle provided procedures/packages

Check out the Oracle XDB Developer's Guide, Chapter 3. There is an example of using BFileName function to load the xml files from a directory object created using create or replace directory. It works really well.

Regards,
Laurent.

ok, I think we do not need the save/loadPipeline things, because you can debug the flow without that. I first thought you act as HTTP server, but you issue the client call in the flow itself.
Looking at the logs more carefully, it shows for example:
Copy failed: (Simple) No source data available: to=/returnedStatusCode(0), from=/returnHttp(0)/cXML(0)/Response(0)/Status(0)/@code(0)
But you say have that input:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE cXML SYSTEM "http://xml.cXML.org/schemas/cXML/1.2.011/cXML.dtd">
<cXML version="1.2.011" payloadID="20080825171850716.18637uTQ9ExzheaK+H6b7O9oCAQWPzHA-9355222.8b3632def70da7220004d0b6" timestamp="2008-08-25T17:18:50-CEST">
<Response>
<Status code="500">No cXML document received from sender.</Status>
</Response>
</cXML>
So we see that your mappings assumptions do not match the result structure.
The other problem is that you get a status 500 and do not receive a cXML document, but that might be ok, depending on what parameters you pass to the other HTTP server. At least, you get a meaningful error message back from the server, meaning communication is ok.
I suggest you first correct those "copy failed" issues and then check by single-stepping where exactly the flow fails and check that input again.
By the way, when I feed the above cXML into recordToDocument, it works fine. Did you specify other input parameters besides "node" (e.g. recordName) ? And again, are you on Core Fix 8 ?

It seems your Samba is denying access to these files & dirs. My best guess would be that either the Samba user is not allowed to write (and read) those (in which case you'd have to modify the permissions accordingly) or Samba sets, when the share is mounted, the permissions such that your user is not allowed to read and write (you may in this case try to just set permissions for you to allow you what you want to do; or use "create mask" or "directory mask" or "writable" in your samba config. ).
Also, what do the logs say about this? According to your samba conf they are in /var/log/samba/%m.log where %m is the hostname or IP.

I really hope for you this wasn't a production database, as mentioned in the URL, it has been some years ago for me fiddling around this which was btw a supported metalink workaround ONCE (during my Oracle 7 days), but now, I wouldn't be surprised if you now have mixed NLS content in your tables/database and more or less "corrupted" your content.
The initial issue was probably a client one.
BTW
I actually hope it was a production database, maybe then you would learn that way, that you SHOULD NEVER EVER UPDATE DATABASE BASE TABLES directly...
...unless (the only exception) you want to learn something about the internals and don't care that your TEST database gets corrupted....

• Inserting XML content into Database

Hallo
i´m new to Oracle.
i want to insert xml content into the database. for testing i installed the version 10g on a windowsxp computer.
i read the oracle xmldb developer´s guide. on page 3-4 ff. it is explained how i can insert content into the database. that´s how i did it (with isqlplus):
create table example1(key_column varchar2(10) primary key, xml_column xmltype)
-->works fine
create table example2 of xmltype
-->works fine
now i made a directory under c:\myXmlFilesForDb in WinXp
create directory xmldir as 'c:/myXmlFilesForDb in WinXp'
(also tried: create directory xmldir as 'c:\myXmlFilesForDb in WinXp')
--> in this directory is a file named: mydokument.xml
--> works fine
insert into example2 values(xmltype(bfilename('xmldir','mydokument.xml'), nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8')))
the following error message is displayed (in German):
ORA-22285: Verzeichnis oder Datei für FILEOPEN-Vorgang nicht vorhanden
ORA-06512: in "SYS.DBMS_LOB",Zeile 523
ORA-06512: in "SYS:XMLTYPE",Zeile 287
ORA-06512: in Zeile 1
whats wrong? can anybody help me please?
ohhh....
thank you very much
cu
George

Directory entries are case sensitive.
Select * From dba_directories to ensure you case is the same as you are using in your insert statement.
Are you using the same user? if not grant read on directory directoryname to username;
try to just select.
select dbms_lob.getLength(BFileName('directoryname','filename.xml'))
as length
from dual;

• Parse xml data and insert into database

Hi Friends,
I have an xml document which needs to be parsed and the data need to be inserted into an oracle database table.
Please tell me which will be the easiest and optimal way of doing this.
Thanks,
Achayan

Take a look at the JDOM xml parsing library - google for JDOM download or something.
This will allow you to build an object representation of the XML doc, from which you can then extract the data.
