XML Playlist for flipping book

I am working on a flipping book and want to use XML for the
video playlist.
I can't seem to get the first video to start playing in
myVideoplayer_mc?
Any help would be greatly appreicated.

onRelease statements as clean and as correct as they could be. Not
sure if I need to have so many or if I can do the same thing with
fewer onRelease statements? Is it ok to start with "this." or
should I be more specific?

How can I make a book/podcast listening playlist for a blind person?

How can I make a book/podcast listening playlist for a blind person? How can lots of content be loaded, so that no navigation is required, for hundreds of hours of enjoyment?
I wanted to create a single playlist with hundreds of hours of books and podcasts for my grandmother who is blind. Then I planned to use something like the app CarTunes which basically makes the touch screen simply a gigantic pause/play button for an already created playlist. This is perfect for a blind person. The problem: Apple no longer allows you to have a playlist with Audible Books and Podcasts. I have tried; but the podcasts and books are stripped from the playlist. It seems like all podcast and book players require navigation. (How aggravating!?)
Any help in creating hundreds of hours long spoken (selected between books and podcasts) audio content playlist for a blind person would be much appreciated!!!!

Well, good news and bad news. I found out how to tell iTunes that all my music videos are, in fact, actual "music videos" and categorize them as such. In the "Get Info" screen for a track, there is a dropdown selector where you can pick the "meta" type, such as "Music Video", "Home Video", "Movie", "TV Show", etc. This allows iTunes and iOS to think they are all music videos and play them in the same list.
Unfortunately, this is not compatable with my third party device, which is now refusing to play my music videos in a playlist and will only play them one at a time (in a single-track infinite loop no less). Very frustrating!

Hi Mark,
No need to restrict your choice to the preset Pages Templates. Do a web search and choose a Word template. Pages will open Word documents and templates. Or design your own:
This is a Table I inserted into a blank Pages Word Processing document. Format the date column in Inspector > Table > Format > Cell Format. Select the first Date cell,then drag the fill handle down to increment the dates.

Corrupt iTunes Library .XML File for library with 3,000+ playlists.HELP!

Here is my situation. I've been ripping my cds to Lossless for almost a year now and I'm at about cd 3000. A few days ago my Mini got hung up on a cd and locked up. The cd drive even completely stopped spinning after about an hour. I did the only thing I could and turned the power off. It was totally unresponsive. When I re-booted I got the "iTunes Library has been renamed (damaged) error. I tried several fixes which didn't work such as simply renaming damaged(by removing the word damaged from the file name). Right now I have dragged the Library File and the XML file to my desktop and tried to restart iTunes to import the XML file but that's giving me none of my playlists. I have a playlist for every album in my library. I like this way so no need to comment on how it doesn't make sense to you. My database file is 43MB and the XML is just a few KB. My library is stored on an external drive. I will freak out if I have to create all these playlists again. I know that there is a playlist generator app that will automatically do this but I had these all last name, first name and aliases and how I wanted to find them so I put a lot of work into how I organized everything. What else can I try?

It's so funny you just replied to this because I've been waiting patiently for a week and I just now posted another snag I'm running into right above this post.
I never really had any kind of problems with all of the playlists. It never really hung up or anything like that at all & I'm using a very first generation Mac Mini. It would seamlessly play from any song I picked to any other song I picked by just clicking on it.

There is no playlist for iBooks, butther eis nothing to preent you from choosing to download specific titles from itunes, or syncing just specific titles to an individual device.

Exporting the Browse Sequence XML file for Use in Another Project

When I generate a browse sequence based on the TOC using zero for the book level, instead of getting A, A1, A2, B, B1, B2, I get A, B, A1, A2, B1, B2. The TOC runs through all 1st level items first, cycles back through all 2nd level item, then 3rd level, etc.
My workaround was to auto-create the browse sequence at a 0 level and then manually manipulate it to output according to how my readers would actually read my online book (ie A Aa A1 A1a A1b A2 A2a A2b B B1 etc etc).
Now that I have my browse sequence in the correct order for this project, I do not want to repeat these steps every time I create a new version of my OLH for the same guide after some minor updates have been made to the FM source.
There is a file named whbrs.xml inside the output folder and it contains the browse sequence order I specified during my workaround steps.
Is it possible to export this file to another location for use in another project referencing the same guide?
This methodology is much preferred as I am working at an enterprise level with multiple documents (some numbering in the hundreds of pages) and do not want to have to manually use my workaround for each project I update over the next few years.

You probably wouldn't want to use that particular file as it's an output file. You would likely have better luck using the ProjectName.BRS file as that one should be a source file.
However, keep in mind that whether (or how well) this will work will entirely depend on having the recipient project using the same identical structure and identical file names.

Running a live stream from an XML playlist

I have just successfully installed Adobe FMS on my server.
I would now like to know how to program a script to run a continuous live stream, of MP4 videos, from an XML playlist.
Can anyone tell me how to do this? ...or provide me a good tutorial? (I am a complete newbie to ActionScript.)

Can I include unstructured files in the general rule for a book ?

I have a series of books with lots of generated files. I want to keep those as they are, but still add structure to the book and the content chapters. How do I write a general rule for the book element that allows an unstructured component - i.e. without wrapping the unstructured content into a container first (which would involve structuring the generated files with a special conversion table just to set the root element for them). Is this possible at all ?

Well,
In my projects the DTD/EDD has an element for the TOC and/or Index, both are defined as <ANY>. The unstructured book component is then wrapped into the appropriate element in the book’s Structure View and gives you something like this:
I am sure there are other ways to handle the population of a structured book with some unstructured files, but this is how I do/did it in several projects.
Using the R/W rules I exclude the content of e.g. <toc> from the XML.

How do I create a flipping book in Adobe Flash?

Hello new friends,
I am a graphic designer with many years of experience in Creative Suite Design Standard software. However I'm just beginning to get into Flash and have a project where I need to create a simple page-flipping brochure. My client has a 3-fold borchure in both SWF and JPEG formats which she wants to turn into a Flash flipping book to post on her website. I have the CS3 Web Premium package but I want to know if I need a third-party page flip plug-in or does my version of Flash (9.0) include the page flip engine? Also where can I find a tutorial to build a flipping book in Flash as this would be very helpful in building one for the first time.

If anyone's interested I did find a site that looks like it has some good information regarding creating flip books (step by step) and they also sell page flip software that seems to work really well (as seen in the demos). Here's the site: http://www.pageflip.hu/ (PageFlip 3.5) In the third paragraph of the home page there is a greyed out link "online documentation." Select that link and it will take you to their documentation on how to build a flip file using their software. Fairly simple approach. I will probably purchase this software.
System requirements for PageFlip 3.5 — Any browser with Adobe Flash player 8 installed; Adobe Flash 8 to edit source files.

Dynamic Playlist for streaming video

This is my first attempt at building a dynamic playlist for
streaming flash video and I'm following the tutorial at
"macromedia.com/devnet/flash/articles/video_player.html". I've
changed the paths to my FMS and loaded the video files to the
applications directory of the FMS (flash_applications/videosource).
The thumbnails load and the player skin loads but the videos do not
load when I click on the thumbnails.
I've read the earlier post about this same issue. I followed
the advice from that post and reloaded the 'main.asc' file from my
Flash 8 program files but the video still does not play.

I just used the server on Windows (as opposed to linux) and
it worked great. So the issue, at least for me and my issue (could
see the thumbnails, couldn't play the video) was windows vs. Linux.
I guess the linux version doesn't work with this exact script. Now
to put together something of my own to test to see if the linux
version works right.

XML Schema for Java Bugs

I've just downloaded your XML Schema for Java software are have been systematically testing it with a relatively simple document. A few bugs:
1. the use="required" attribute of the attribute element doesn't have any effect (doesn't show any error message or throw any exceptions) when the required attribute is omitted.
2. If I declare an element like:

</restriction>

Then, if I modify my xml document instance to say:
<age pointless="true">26</age>
This will throw a non-parser exception with a message of null, instead of saying "Attribute 'pointless' not expected", as it does if I redefine the schema declaration as:

I'm glad someone else has noticed that unique keyref and key don't seem to be working with the Dom Parser. If they don't work WHY ARE THEY (key, keyref, unique) IN THE EXAMPLE'S THAT ARE DOWNLOADED WITH THE SCHEMA PARSER. In report.xsd, a file downloaded with the example, it makes clear usage of unique, key, and key ref. But if you violate the schema definitions in the corresponding file report.xml the parser doesn't complain whatsoever. The only time it barfs is if you change the keyref refer attribute to something other than "pNumKey". It obviously has to work. No bone head would send example files along with their product that didn't work.
So, if anyone at ORACLE or elsewhere has figured out how to use unique, key, or keyref please respond with an explination of how to correctly use them with the parser. Your name will be blessed throughout the ages as a most kind and venerable person. You will be a hallmark, a standard, a shining light for all future generations of what a human being should be! Okay maybe I'm going a little overboard but I'm DESPERATE. With no books or collateral on how this stupid thing works all I can do is hack.

Flip book images not shown in flash.

hi, i am new to all this and i am after a bit help please.
i made a flash flipbook for my images using photo to flippingbook, and i uploaded it from dreamweaver on to my site,
the problem is, it works great in IE but does not in Firefox, in Firefox you can see the flip book and buttons but no images at all.
i have tried everything i can think of including checking the internet for ideas but i am at a loss, i do not know if it something to do with the code or not.
can someonne please help or give mee some ideas so that i can try and sort this problem out.

Realy i've thinking many times to have a plugin in adobe flash, that will include a flip book component wich will be easy to build an online magazine for our real estate agency in marrakesh, i've used the latest trial version of adobe flash Cs5 but it enable to work with as i am a not programmer. But hope that one day get it.

Which is best way to create a web Flip Book?

I am creating a spec book of about 200 pages and it used to print and go in a binder but now it needs to be on web as a flip book.
Since I do all the production work in InDesign I hoped it could be an export.
I have heard about http://page-flip.com/ and http://www.freshcatalog.com/ but should I have to pay for more software if I can do it in InDesign?
Will a 200 page project be a monster of a file size and would that cause performance issues?

Please point this "Nobody here is under any obligation to answer your question…" in the "Community guidelines". Ether this rule is buried somewhere deep or it does not exist. Id like to point out that we are your customers granted you're our only realistic choice, but we do not work for Adobe. So most of us do not know all the "in's and out" within trying to find Adobe product solutions. It would be very troubling if your customers became expert in navigating through your "community help".
