XML Publisher 5.6.2 in JDeveloper 11g

The data engine in the Oracle XML Publisher 5.6.2 does not run with the Oracle JDBC library in JDeveloper 11g. Error gets generated in the class oracle.apps.xdo.dataengine.DBConnection.
Use JDeveloper 10.1.3 for Oracle XML Publisher 5.6.2.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/vohra-jdev-xmlpub.html

XML Publisher 5.6.2 API may be used in JDeveloper 11g by importing the Oracle JDBC library definition from JDeveloper 10.1.3. Instead of the Oracle JDBC library in JDeveloper 11g create a Oracle JDBC library from the JDeveloper 10.1.3 Oracle JDBC library JAR files.

    Problem :
    I wanted to generate a pdf from a OA page. I was successful ingenerating the PDF from a OA Page but the problem is I am not able to find suitable xml publisher libraries to include in the Jdeveloper
    OA Framework Version 11.5.10.CU1.
    Requested soultion for
    Please provide me the list of libraries xml publisher to be included in jdeveloper.
    Approach for Libraries:
    Took XDO/ORACLE XML PUBLISHER OA ROLLUP PATCH 5.6.0 and extracted the zip file j456151.zip from the patch and included it as a library. My class compiled. But when I run from jdev the output is not generated. But I put the class on the JAVA_TOP it worked.
    If it has worked why do I need libraries?
    xml publisher is very powerful and I want to use the other features like data template and delivery manager. I want need corrrect libraries in jdeveloper.
    Experience with Oracle Support
    Oracle XML Publisher Support was of little help. I really felt helpless. I had to dig out everything from the patches. For oracle internal managers who want to see that we get proper support the tar number is
    5619199.992 NEED AN EXAMPLE FOR USING XML PUBLISHDOC...
    Severity: 3 , OS: n/a
    Below is the approach I just followed if you have a better way please let me know.
    Approach for gererating PDF which worked:
    In the Application Module :
    public ClobDomain getXMLData()
    GapProjectListVORowImpl row = getSelectedProjectRow();
    ClobDomain cd = new ClobDomain();
    if(row != null)
    try{
    cd.getCharacterOutputStream().write("<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding='windows-1252'?>\n");
    cd.getCharacterOutputStream().write("<AllNodes>");
    oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLElement ele = (oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLElement)getGapCostDetailsVO1().writeXML(0,XMLInterface.XML_OPT_ALL_ROWS);
    ele.print(new java.io.PrintWriter(cd.getCharacterOutputStream()));
    ele = (oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLElement)getGapCostTotalsVO1().writeXML(0,XMLInterface.XML_OPT_ALL_ROWS);
    ele.print(new java.io.PrintWriter(cd.getCharacterOutputStream()));
    ele = (oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLElement)row.writeXML(0,XMLInterface.XML_OPT_ALL_ROWS);
    ele.print(new java.io.PrintWriter(cd.getCharacterOutputStream()));
    cd.getCharacterOutputStream().write("</AllNodes>");
    //System.out.println(cd.toString());
    catch(Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    return cd;
    In the controller use
    ClobDomain xmlData=(ClobDomain)am.invokeMethod("getXMLData");
    if(xmlData!=null)
    byte[] bytes = xmlData.toByteArray();
    ByteArrayInputStream l_erXML=new ByteArrayInputStream(xmlData.toString().getBytes());
    DocumentHelper.exportDocument(pageContext,"CDM","XXCDMGAP","en","US",l_erXML,"PDF",null);
    }

    Create a JAR file with $JAVA_TOP/oracle/apps/fnd and $JAVA_TOP/oracle/apps/xdo. You can have them in the same jar file or separate JAR files. The oracle directory MUST be the top directory.
    Add this/these jar files to your project libraries in JDev and you are ready to go. I have used this method with XMLP 5.5 to 5.6.2 and works just fine.

  • XML Publisher 5.6.2 with JDeveloper 10.1.3

    Hi,
    I put one example of the users guide working, that transforms the xml and the xsl in a pdf report:
    FOProcessor processor = new FOProcessor();
    processor.setData("d:\\ORACLE\\DOCUMENTOS\\XML Publisher\\Exemplos\\sales-report.xml"); // set XML input file
    processor.setTemplate("d:\\ORACLE\\DOCUMENTOS\\XML Publisher\\Exemplos\\sales-report.xsl"); // set XSL input file
    processor.setOutput("d:\\ORACLE\\DOCUMENTOS\\XML Publisher\\Exemplos\\sales-report.pdf"); //set output file
    processor.setOutputFormat(FOProcessor.FORMAT_PDF);
    // Start processing
    try {
    processor.generate();
    } catch (XDOException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    System.exit(1);
    System.exit(0);
    Now, I want to use ADF to create a "print report" from a table (business components from tables), directly.
    I'm trying with the HR schema, table of departments (database 10gR2).
    There are any way to do this interactively??
    I realy need always the xml file and the xsl file to create a report from JDeveloper?
    Any idea?
    Thank you in advance,
    Rgs,
    CD

  • New paper published on using Groovy in JDeveloper 11g.

    If you are looking to use Groovy expressions in ADF Business Components but finding the current developer guides less than helpful, I've pulled together some typical use cases into a new white paper
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/11/how-tos/groovy/introduction_to_groovy.pdf
    Please let me know if you have any corrections/questions/feedback/
    Thanks
    Grant

    Thanks Grant for this paper.
    I was wondering what could be the next level of integration of groovy besides ADF BC inside ADF apps.
    As I have no real experience with Groovy at this time, would it be realistic to write groovy classes either in the model or the view/controller layer ?
    The idea is to benefit from Groovy powerful aspects as a dynamic and very concise language. Such groovy classes would be used to extend ADF framework classes for example.
    Does that makes sense to you and do you see any oppurtunities of such an integration ?
    Thanks,
    Seb.

    Please help !!

    Hi,
    I tried the way suggested by Anil in the above link as well today, but still am getting the same error while openning the pdf .
    Dont know why it shows error that either the file is not a supported file type or because the file is damaged.
    Please suggest way to solve this error or some other way of calling xml report from OAF page.

  • Jdeveloper 11g R2 problem when publishing PL\SQL Web Service

    Hi Guys,
    I have been banging my head against the wall for the past few days trying to publish pl\sql package as a web service on a weblogic 10.3 but I keep running into the same problem.
    PL\SQL Package Source below
    create type dept_type as object
    (deptno NUMBER,
    dname VARCHAR2(50),
    loc varchar2(13),
    cr_date date)
    create type dept_list_table is table of dept_type
    purge recyclebin;
    create or replace package ws_package as
    procedure test_dept_table (pout out dept_list_table);
    end ws_package;
    show errors;
    create or replace package body ws_package as
    procedure test_dept_table (pout out dept_list_table) is
    all_depts dept_list_table := dept_list_table();
    dRecType dept_type;
    i number := 0;
    begin
    -- iterate through all depts
    for r_list in (select * from dept) loop
    i := i + 1;
    dRecType := dept_type(null, null, null, null);
    dRecType.deptno := r_list.deptno;
    dRecType.dname := r_list.dname;
    dRecType.loc := r_list.loc_id;
    dRecType.cr_date := sysdate;
    pout.extend;
    pout(i) := dRecType;
    end loop;
    end test_dept_table;
    end ws_package;
    show errors;
    I go and create PL\SQL Web Service using default settings in Jdeveloper 11g R2 but when I try and test this page I get the following response:
    Failed to invoke end component servqa.MyWebService1User (POJO), operation=testDeptTable -> Failed to invoke method -> java.sql.SQLException: ORA-06550: line 1, column 13: PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'TEST_DEPT_TABLE' ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: Statement ignored
    Anyone have any idea what the problem may be? Your help would be much appreceated!
    Bojan

    Hi Frank,
    I think the problem is in any procedure that has a COMPLEX TYPE as OUT parameter. So even if you strip down the procedure to just do nothing I still get the error as described in my top post. Passing complex parameters as IN parameter work fine its only when I have procedure with complex out when it errors. I also tried function that returns object parameter and that works fine too so not sure why this doesnt?
    create or replace package body ws_package as
    procedure test_dept_table (pout out dept_list_table) is
    begin
    -- iterate through all depts
    for r_list in (select * from dept) loop
    i := i + 1;
    end loop;
    end test_dept_table;
    end ws_package;
    Not sure if I am meant to do anything extra before I generate Web Service using JDeveloper if my procedure has got PL\SQL types as OUT parameters but as far as I know JDeveloper should do all the type conversions for you??
    Thanks
    Bojan

  • Oracle's XML Publisher in JDeveloper and XSQL Servlet

    A While ago, in this thread JDeveloper 10g, XSQL and FOP , was mentioned an ongoing effort for the "integration of Oracle's XML Publisher in JDeveloper and XSQL Servlet", Is this still happening ?, will this be something will be able to use without having to be an Oracle Apps shop? Any additional info would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    is there any progress about XML publisher integration with JDeveloper. I'm right now examining XML publisher but there is no explicit directions and explanations of using XML publisher with jdeveloper.
    any news !?
    best regards...

  • XML publisher with jdeveloper

    Hi all,
    I'm wondering if there is an API of XML Publisher for using with jdeveloper for development a reporting system. After I have run queries in database, I want to present tuples in a formatted fashion in PDF, RTF document etc. There are open source facilities like jasper reports etc, if XML publisher facilitates my reporting part of my system, I want to plan reporting development via XML Publisher!
    So, How I can integrate XML Publisher with jdeveloper? Is there any API documentation?
    best regards...
    --barisk

    XML Publisher ships with 2 XDK parsers a 9i version for backward compatibility and 10g version - you can switch at runtim using the properties. However, you have to make sure that the XML Publisher versions of the libraries are used and not the ones coming with i.e. jdeveloper version or oc4j version that you are using. You should use the version shipped with XML Publisher, because these versions are thoroughly tested with XML Publisher.
    See the deployment notes in the install document:
    Oracle OC4J Deployment Notes
    The version of the XML Parser shipped with Oracle OC4J is incompatible with XML Publisher. When you create an XML Publisher application for OC4J you need to configure the system to use the XML Publisher version of the XML Parser. This can be accomplished by setting an orion-web.xml configuration file with the following content:
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <orion-web-app>
    <web-app-class-loader search-local-classes-first="true" />
    </orion-web-app>

  • JDeveloper and XML Publisher with EBS ?

    Hi All,
    Can anyone clarify my doubts ?
    I am new to Java and i have some experience in XMLP, but i saw in the User guide the Java API's, how to and where to run those API's.
    And is JDeveloper used with XMLP to run Java API's ?, if yes can u pls explain how to start working on that and what is the relation between JDeveloper and XML Publisher in EBS.
    I really appriciate your early reply.
    Thanks in advance.

  • XML versions supported in XML Publisher 5.6.2

    Hi everyone,
    can someone tell me, which versions of the XML specification
    - XSLT 1.0 or XSLT 2.0
    - XPath 1.0 or XPath 2.0
    are supported in the rtf templates of XML Publisher 5.6.2?
    Thanks in advance

    XML Publisher 5.6.2 API may be used in JDeveloper 11g by importing the Oracle JDBC library definition from JDeveloper 10.1.3. Instead of the Oracle JDBC library in JDeveloper 11g create a Oracle JDBC library from the JDeveloper 10.1.3 Oracle JDBC library JAR files.

  • XML Publisher 5.6.2 Document Processor Engine

    Would I be correct in assuming that sending the xapi: tags through the regular concurrent request engine would be a fultile exercise in order to burst an invoice batch into multiple PDFs?
    Could somebody please confirm that I must use a JAVA concurrent program wrapper around the request in order to use the document processor engine to burst and save on the file system?
    Thanks in advance,

  • How to get multiple out parameters from a pl/sql stored procedure in ADF Jdeveloper 11g release2

    I´m trying to call from AppModuleImpl a stored procedure from my oracle DB which receives one input parameter and returns 5 out parameters.
    I´m using jdeveloper 11g release2  ADF and I have created a java bean "ProRecallPlatesBean " with the atributes and accesors and I serialize it. just like in this article http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24382_01/web.1112/e16182/bcadvgen.htm#sm0297
    This is my code so far:
    public ProRecallPlatesBean getCallProRecallPlates(String numPlates) {
    CallableStatement st = null;
    try {
              // 1. Define the PL/SQL block for the statement to invoke
              String stmt = "begin CTS.Pk_PreIn.proRecallPlates(?,?,?,?,?,?); end;";
              // 2. Create the CallableStatement for the PL/SQL block
              st = getDBTransaction().createCallableStatement(stmt,0);
              // 3. Register the positions and types of the OUT parameters
              st.registerOutParameter(2,Types.VARCHAR);
    st.registerOutParameter(3,Types.VARCHAR);
    st.registerOutParameter(4,Types.VARCHAR);
    st.registerOutParameter(5,Types.VARCHAR);
    st.registerOutParameter(6,Types.VARCHAR);
    // 4. Set the bind values of the IN parameters
    st.setString(1,numPlates);
    // 5. Execute the statement
    st.executeUpdate();
    // 6. Create a bean to hold the multiple return values
    ProRecallPlatesBean result = new ProRecallPlatesBean();
    // 7. Set values of properties using OUT params
    result.setSpfVal(st.getString(2));
    result.setTransportTypeVal(st.getString(3));
    result.setTransportCompanyVal(st.getString(4));
    result.setCompanyDescrVal(st.getString(5));
    result.setDGAPrint(st.getString(6));
    // 8. Return the result
    return result;
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    throw new JboException(e);
    } finally {
    if (st != null) {
    try {
    // 9. Close the JDBC CallableStatement
    st.close();
    catch (SQLException e) {}
    In Jdeveloper I went into AppModule.xml JAVA>Client Interface section and expose "getCallProRecallPlates" Then I can see "getCallProRecallPlates" in Data Controls, I drag and drop it to a JSF page, an input text component and a button are generated in order to put in there the procedure input parameter (numPlates).
    I don't know if I'm on the right track.
    When I click the button, the "result" variable is supposed to be filled with data from the stored procedure. I want each of those values to be displayed in Output text or input text adf components but I dont know how. Thank you very much in advance I´m a newbie and i'll appreciate your help!

    What version are you on?
    Works fine for me on my 11g:
    SQL> create or replace procedure testxml (clob_out out clob)
      2  is
      3     l_clob   clob;
      4     l_ctx    dbms_xmlquery.ctxhandle;
      5  begin
      6     l_ctx := dbms_xmlquery.newcontext ('select * from dual');
      7     l_clob := dbms_xmlquery.getxml (l_ctx);
      8     clob_out := l_clob;
      9     dbms_xmlquery.closecontext (l_ctx);
    10  end testxml;
    11  /
    Procedure created.
    SQL>
    SQL> variable vout clob;
    SQL>
    SQL> exec testxml (:vout)
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL>
    SQL> print vout
    VOUT
    <?xml version = '1.0'?>
    <ROWSET>
       <ROW num="1">
          <DUMMY>X</DUMMY>
       </ROW>
    </ROWSET>But definitely you can optimize your proc a bit: Try
    create or replace procedure testxml (clob_out in out nocopy clob)
    is
       l_ctx    dbms_xmlquery.ctxhandle;
    begin
       l_ctx := dbms_xmlquery.newcontext ('select * from dual');
       clob_out := dbms_xmlquery.getxml (l_ctx);
       dbms_xmlquery.closecontext (l_ctx);
    end testxml;

  • Problem with tutorial; "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using "

    I've got a rather new installation of Vista Business x64 on my developer rig, and last week I installed the new JDeveloper 11g version. The installation was all-inclusive, no customization on my end.
    In addition I've got a test installation of an Oracle DB 11gR1 on an available server here.
    To familiarize myself with the new JDeveloper I decided to spend some time with the JDeveloper 11g tutorials found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/index.html.
    I've started twice on the second tutorial, "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces", and find myself repeatedly stuck at step 19 in section "Creating the Data Model and Testing it".
    It seems impossible to deploy the application to the default application server. The server starts fine on its own, I can access it via the admin console on port 7001 and it looks good. However, when I try to run the HRFacadeBean funny things are happening, symptomized by the following error messages seen in the IDE log-area:
    The "Messages" pane displays:

    I'm not that familiar with these things but it seems to me that there is an issue with port numbers here. The application seems to expect a app.server service at port 7101, but does'nt find one.
    Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be appreciated?

    Jupp,
    It fails in a similar way.
    What I did was; create a simle 'Hello World' html file, saving it with the jsp extension. In Jdev11g i made a new application and an emtpy project, then loaded the jsp file and made it the default run-target. This compiles nicely.
    When running the project it first attempts to start the WebLogicServer (WLS). After a few minutes it is started as seen in the "Running: DefaultServer" pane:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd

    DefaultServer started.
    In the "Messages" pane, however, things are not looking so good:
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr

    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
    But, of course, the server is actually running as I can access it via its Admin Console.
    So, I try to run the project again, and this time the following is shown in the "Messages" pane:
    Compiling...
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr

    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
    The "Running: DefaultServer" now comes up with:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
    [waiting for the server to complete its initialization...]
    [Server Instance DefaultServer is shutting down.  All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]
    Process exited.
    The WLS is still running though as I can still access its adm console.
    To me it seems that it is attempting to start a separate instance of the WLS for each run attempt, but then I could be wrong.....:(
    Later I'll try to change the default WLS port from 7001 to 7101 as suggested in another port here.
    I must admit that I'm a bit surprised that the JDev11g doesn't work fine at this very simple level when performing a default install.
