XML Publisher generating XML output vs. PDF
Hi
When I run the report directly as a concurrent program, it generates PDF without any problem. But when I submit the report via a package, it generates XML output.
Actually, the package submits multiple XMLP reports. All the XMLP report submissions generate PDF output without any problem, except one which generates XML output. What could be the reason? Please advise.

XML Publisher generates PDF but concurrent program still completes in error
Hello,
I have a concurent program that is used everyday. It generates PDF output with an average of 500 pages. It completes normal majority of the times, but completes in error sporadicallly. Interestingly, when it completes in error, it still generates the PDF output successfully.
Question is why does it complete in error when all is good?
Please note that we just went live on R12 from 11i beginning of this year. This issue never occurred in 11i. Please advise what can be done to fix this issue.

Since you said the behavior is sporadic and also the program was running good in 11i instance, I think its a problem with the data [or select query in the concurrent program] .
Ideal scenario:
1. Upon the concurrent program completing in error the pdf should not be generated in first place, since it misguides the obtained report. [Concurrent Program should be modified accordingly, before calling the pdf generation logic you need to check the status of the concurrent program].
2. It is not likely that the pdf generation should error out upon concurrent program's error, since the concurrent program could have a soft closure of its schema definition [inspite of an uncaught/unhandled exception]
eg:
<schema def>
<Xml element 1> </Xml element 1>
<Xml element 2> </Xml element 2>
<Xml element 3> </Xml element 3>
*_ <while generating elements 4, 5 and so on concurrent program could have errored out, but still the schema definition is valid so the pdf is generated>_*

Solution:
Next time when you get the same behaviour, try running the concurrent program and handle the exception for that scenario, this should resolve your issue.

I have created one Main template and sub-template is called from it. I am working with Oracle Apps version 12.1.1. XML Source file gets created using rdf file attached to the concurrent program. Now after registering main template with the required concurrent program when i tried to execute it "View Output" button shows XML souce data instead of PDF report which i have called using main template. PriyankaAnd metalink note 1100253.1 states that this issue (java.lang.StackOverflowError) might be caused by a too large set of data to be sorted in the layout file. Recommendation is to removed the sort from the layout file and instead sort the data already in the data definition.

I have a XML Publisher Report which generates EXCEL output and the output file size is huge.
What I notice that it is stored as Web Pages *.htm; *.html (Save as Type) in Excel this is the reason it is huge.
If I save as Microsoft Office Excel Workbook *.xls it Reduce the size.
I don't know how to save as ".xls" through XML Publisher using PL/SQL.
Any body knows? please Help..

We're on 10.1.3.4.1 and siebel 8.1.1.3 and when trying to open a report from within siebel in the output format EXCEL (selected from the parameter applet), it just opens the document in the browser.
Is there a way to get it to open directly in Excel? I guess the reason is the file extension*.EXCEL, how could we get the extension to be in excel format (xls)?
We don't want our users to have to do this themself.

I am not interesed in using the Java apis provided as of now. I would like to acheive this using only template builder, without any java coding.
Any help would be appreciated on how to build the template. I have tried displaying images and it worked and i am not sure how i can do the samething with PDF files stored in HUGE BLOB columns.

Thanks in advanceAnd metalink note 1100253.1 states that this issue (java.lang.StackOverflowError) might be caused by a too large set of data to be sorted in the layout file. Recommendation is to removed the sort from the layout file and instead sort the data already in the data definition.

Xml publisher generate huge size excel file
hi,
we use xml publisher to generate excel file.
the problem is:
when there are over 100,000 rows, the excel file size will be very very huge,and it will take very very long time to open it.
i open the excel file with UltraEdit and find it is filled with html sytax.
When that excel file is opened with excel and saved as .xls file, the size will be dramatically reduced.
anyone can help?Hello
I am getting the same problem, the EXCEL output file size is huge.
What I notice that it is stored as Web Pages *.htm; *.html (Save as Type) in Excel this is the reason it is huge.
If I save as Microsoft Office Excel Workbook *.xls it Reduce the size.
I don't know how to save as *.xls through XML Publlisher.
Any body knows? please Help..

Problems with reports and XML-publisher - No XML
Hi!
I'm having a problem with Apps and XML-publisher. I made a report file, which queries some views. When executing in reports, I get all the data I expect.
Now, when I upload the reportfile to Apps and let it generate XML, my xml-file is empty (well, almost empty)

Anyone who can shed any light upon this problem?OK, finally solved the problem... A good night's sleep always helps ;).
After just trying each queried table one after an other, I found the problem:
The difference between Oracle Apps (Dutch locale) and the reports builder (English) is the language... And our functional people have changed some names, but the Dutch ones, leaving the english names in place and one of the tables I query has language specific data, which is also appears in a where clause. -

Actually We have to generate reports using XML Publisher.For this we gone through the documents provided by XML Publisher.As per Pusher documents we followed the steps.
Taken the Oracle Apps Report.Converted into .xml file then converted into XML Schema (.xsd) by using Stylus studio.
Now we are not able to create .rtf file.
please help us.

To me it seems that format is used in BI Publisher usined iN OBI and not Oracle XML Publisher.
Why dont you try to get the value in sql itself like (:salary + :pct_cimssion) as abcd -
Is it possible to use xml publisher with xml document as data source ?
I have an application that have to publish document from xml document that are not part a oracle 10g database but will be stored into Oracle Berkeley XML database insteed. Is it possible to use server and/or desktop to publish these documents ?
I test the desktop edition using the source xml document but it render no data when the template is executed (vizualization)
I installed the server edition and i'm not able to declare xml document as a data source
So i have a doubt that xml publisher is able to publish something from a xml datasource

The problem should come from your template. Refer to "edit a RTF template" in the docs.
A fact is that XML Publisher server edition is not very adapted to an XML file datasource. In order to use it, you should use an HTTP datasource, with the URL of your XML document (that you should place on a web server...). The problem is that this URL is fixed and point always on the same reference...so XML Publisher server edition is not very good for that use.
I choose to use the XML Publisher Java API which is better for this task. -

Has anyone implemented the XML Publisher 5.6.2 oracle.apps.xdo.oa.common.DocumentViewerRN.xml region in an application?
Just looking for some information sharing. I'm waiting for 5.6.2 to be installed on Monday (7/2/06) and i'm going to be trying to develop a test page using the the region in prep for an OA Application we're developing. Just wondering if anyone out there has already invented the wheel and would like to share how they fed the data or controlled it and stuff.

I have apps 11.5.8 and no XML Publisher / XML Publisher Administrator responsibility.
Will patch 4206181 install it on my system?

And I have 11i but don't have any publisher version ( I guess). So will it work for me?
