XML Query error
I create a table like:
CREATE TABLE person_data (
person_id NUMBER(3),
person_data XMLTYPE);
Then I insert some data:
INSERT INTO person_data
(person_id, person_data)
VALUES
(1, XMLTYPE('
<PDRecord>
<PDName>Daniel Morgan</PDName>
<PDDOB>12/1/1951</PDDOB>
<PDEmail>[email protected]</PDEmail>
</PDRecord>')
INSERT INTO person_data
(person_id, person_data)
VALUES
(2, XMLTYPE('
<PDRecord>
<PDName>Jack Cline</PDName>
<PDDOB>5/17/1949</PDDOB>
<PDEmail>[email protected]</PDEmail>
</PDRecord>')
INSERT INTO person_data
(person_id, person_data)
VALUES
(3, XMLTYPE('
<PDRecord>
<PDName>Caleb Small</PDName>
<PDDOB>1/1/1960</PDDOB>
<PDEmail>[email protected]</PDEmail>
</PDRecord>')
COMMIT;
Then I do query:
SELECT person_id, XMLQuery (
'for $i in /PDRecord
where $i /PDName = "Daniel Morgan"
order by $i/PDName
return $i/PDName'
passing by value person_data
RETURNING CONTENT) XMLData
FROM person_data;
I got error : ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis
What is wrong here
Thanks
Charles
OK ... I will keep trying.
The query below does not error out on missing parenthesis
SELECT person_id, XMLQuery (
'for $i in /PDRecord
where $i /PDName = ' || '''' || 'Daniel Morgan' || '''' || '
order by $i /PDName
return $i /PDName
passing by value person_data
RETURNING CONTENT') XMLData
FROM person_data
The last single quote I think should be after the word CONTENT
But XMLQuery seems to be defined in 10.2 and I don't have 10.2 to test the query against.
Can you run the above query against 10.2 and see if it works now?

Xml parsing error while selecting whole result set for sql query
Hi All,
I am having xml parsing error while selecting whole query result set. The data is coming fine for default result set of 50 rows.
My exception is below.
ORA-31011: XML parsing failed
ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing
LPX-00234: namespace prefix "xsi" is not declared
Error at line 1
ORA-06512: at "SYS.XMLTYPE", line 254
ORA-06512: at line 1
*31011. 00000 - "XML parsing failed"*
**Cause: XML parser returned an error while trying to parse the document.*
**Action: Check if the document to be parsed is valid.*
My sql query is below that is giving results for default result set of 50 rows.
select extract(xmlType(clob_xml_colm_name), '//v2:node1//childnode/text()','xmlns:v2="namespace_url"').getStringVal() from table_name
My sql developer version is below.
Java(TM) Platform 1.7.0_04
Oracle IDE 3.1.07.42
Versioning Support 3.1.07.42
My database version is below.
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.5.0 - 64bit
Please could any one help me urgently as the sql query is supposed to be correct as it is returning query results, but the problem happening when i try to select whole result set.
Thanks and regards,What does the XML look like? It appears that some of the supposed XML stored as a CLOB is not really valid XML. Find the row in the table that is causing your issue and review the "XML" in it.

Creating chart leads in XML Parsing Error: mismatched tag. Expected: /svg
Hello ALL,
I searched this forum but unfortunately I find not a solution for the following use case:
described in steps
1.) create a region with chart (typ = line) -> o.k.
2.) create a sql statement to have data in the chart -> o.k.
3.) running report with this created region and chart -> vizualisation o.k.
3.) create a data picker item ":P21_END_DATE"
4.) replaced the where clause "WHERE a_timestamp >= To_date ('01.02.2007', 'dd/mm/yyyy HH24:MI') -1/24" with WHERE a_timestamp >= To_date (:P21_END_DATE, 'dd/mm/yyyy HH24:MI') -1/24
5.) running report with this created region and chart and data picker item -> vizualisation not o.k. I get the attached error message.
I read already in the forum and knows that the end tag of the svg section is lost put I only changed in my query the described value. Does any body can help me please ??

Is there any solution?

Converting Oracle XML Query Result in Java String by using XSU
Hi,
I have a problem by converting Oracle XML Query Result in Java
String by using XSU. I use XSU for Java.
For example:
String datum=new OracleXMLQuery(conn,"Select max(ps.datum) from
preise ps where match='"+args[0]+"'");
String datum1=datum;
I become the following error:
Prototyp.java:47: Incompatible type for declaration. Can't
convert oracle.xml.sql.query.OracleXMLQuery to java.lang.String.
Can somebody tell me a method() for converting to solve my
problem??????
ThanksHmmm.. Pretty basic just look at the example:
OracleXMLQuery qry = new OracleXMLQuery(conn,"Select max(ps.datum) from preise ps where match='"+args[0]+"'");
String xmlString = qry.getXMLString();

We are using Oracle's XSQL servlet engine 9.0.2.0.0A to query an Oracle Database using xsql:include-owa. This xsql document uses a custom serializer to write the resulting XML to a file on the webserver. We have run into a problem with writing XML documents larger than approximatly 7MB. The file is written but just contains a Malformed XML Document error. We have tried tracking down the problem and it seems to be occuring before the custom serializer is given control of the document. Attached below is the xsql document and the Java source of our serializer if it would be of any help.

}Technically DBMS_XMLSAVE and it's alter ego DBMS_XMLQUERY are not considered part of XML DB. DBMS_XMLSAVE and DBMS_XMLQUERY are legacy Java implementations.
In 9.2.x these routines were replaced by DBMS_XMLSTORE and DBMS_XMLGEN which are written in 'C' and should be much faster in most cases and address a number of limitations inherant in the older implementations. DBMS_XMLSTORE and DBMS_XMLGEN are part of XML DB and the minimum supported release for XML DB is 9.2.0.3.0.
DBMS_XMLSAVE issues are addressed in the TECH/XML forum

XML parsing error, whitespace expected
I'm seeing this "XML parsing" error in the SSRS Logs once in a while and I don't know what is causing it. The weird thing is that the report doesn't get this error everytime, most of the time it will work. I originally thought that
it might be the data that is being returned but I don't know if this is the case. Usually when a user gets an error, they'll just run it again later and it'll work the 2nd time. I looked at the report parameters in the ExecutionLogStorage table and the same
parameters are passed in each time.
Does anyone have any ideas of where I can look to get to the bottom of this one? Any help is appreciated.
The actual error from the logs is below:

Xcelsius with XMLA or XML Query Result Set
Hi Experts,
I want a direct connection from Xcelsius to my BW-Data. Because the new connection, coming with Fix Pack 2.1 is only avaiable for EHP 1 for NW 7.0 I tried to configure with XMLA and XML Query Result Set.
This Document tells the necessary steps: How to integrate Xcelsius 2008 with SAP NetWeaver BI without Integration Kit.pdf.
When I test my XML connection over http://<host>:<port>/TXmla/srvlet/TestXmla my Cubes will display.
So I do a Webservice-Connection with WSDL-URL. At Input-Values there are some entries like CUBE_NAME, CATALOG_NAME...
Output values arent avalible. How do I use these elements to show my Data in Xcelsius?
My Problem with the XML Query Result Set Connection is, that when I Log On to VC the following error appears:
You are not authorized to view the requested resource.
So I get the authorisationobjects: S_DEVELOP and S_RS_COMP as describe in 'How To... Resolve Visual Composer Issues'.
What values have I to enter by S_RS_COMP? And how can I enter my External Service in S_SERVICE. At the type WS the service isnt't avaiable.
Regards,
JanTo use XMLA web service you need a wrapper function build to convert the XMLA output to the Xcelsius format. There are some documents available in SDN on how to do this.
You can use Live Office or Query as a Web service option to connect from Xcelsius to BW.
S_RS_COMP is the query ID which you are trying to access, S_SERVICE you can either give * or try to set up authorization log and see the expected value. -

Look in file "EntityBeans.jar_verified.xml" for detailed results on test assertions.
This problem can be resolved by un-installing the IDE, removing my user directory, and re-installing the IDE (I am using SunOne Studio 5 SE Update 1). The problem is that it returns with alarming regularity.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any help would be much appreciated.Sometimes, but not always, this exception appears in the ide.log before the error first occurs.

ORDER BY
Items.Id,
Item.Id;By using //, i am able to use the same query for both. Is there a better way?If using a single query is a must, then I guess it's OK.
Ideally, however, i would like the text of each (without tags), separated by commas.The fn:string-join() function can do that, e.g. :
ItemLinkDesc VARCHAR2(4000) PATH 'fn:string-join(ItemLinks/ItemLink/Description, ";")'But I'm not sure it's a good idea because you'll be losing the structured nature of the data.
Maybe it would be better to collect repeating elements into a collection of SQL object types, but again it all depends on how you want to use the data later.
So, following your advice, i removed the XMLAGGs and GROUP BY clause, but, again the query works, the CTAS does not:Strange...
Works for me :

XML - 0112 Error on parsing using SAX and xml file in InputSource object.
I need to parse a XML string and extract some information. I have to use SAX parser. I'm converting hte string to InputSource and then trying to parese.
i'm getting XML-0112 error, my guess is that it is not able to locate DTD file but i tried hardcoding the whole path in DOCTYPE tag.
i tried doing setSystemId also but no luck.
