Hi I want to display previous month on my report what is the XML tag I can add in my RTF template.

{$LAST_DAY_OF_MONTH()$} - last day of the current month
{$FIRST_DAY_OF_YEAR)$} - first day of the current year
{$LAST_DAY_OF_YEAR)$} - last day of the current year
you can also add or subtract as mentioned below..these are all the functions that are avilable on Dates.
{$SYSDATE()+1$}
{$SYSDATE()-7$}
this may help you to get the previous month.

Text Box issue - displays XML tag instead of the value in EBS

I need to use a textbox (or a autoshape with text) to place a data element in a specific position on the page in an RTF template. I tried using tables and it didn't help. This layout needs some elements to be placed at specific location and using an autoshape or a text box is easy. When I preview the pdf output on my desktop, it works fine. Once I upload the template into EBS XML Publisher, the value in the text box shows up as an XML Tag instead of the value in that tag. The same XML data when loaded and previewed locally shows the data instead of the tag.
Any thoughts on this? Is there a patch or something we might need for this in EBS?

Thanks Tim for the quick response.
Yes - the versions are same. Also, I tried giving the complete path. The issue is that it is not even reading the text in the text box as an XML tag. It seems to think the whole text box is an object and hence just display that text as is. If it was reading and not able to resolve it, I guess it would have displayed blank (and not the tag as is). Again as I mentioned it works fine in local preview on my machine.

Display and Edit Patterns in XML Tags

Using LiveCycle E2 V9.
The display and or Edit Patterns are not reflected in the XML of a submitted form.
While these display properly on the Adobe form on-screen, e.g.
$150,000.00 when the fields are are submitted the XML tag as reflects 150000.000000
Please advise whether there is something that I am doing incorrectly and or a fix for this?

Formatted displays for numbers is never the same as the actual field value. This approach allows a user to see a formatted numeric value but the data remains as a number in floating point, integer, or binary value for further calculations as a number. If this were to change, then one would need to parse the numeric value as a character string back to a numeric value before performing any calculation.
There are specific forums for LiveCycle Designer.

How do you make XML tags display differenty than content?

I am using Structured FM for the first time (prior experience is Epic Editor) and I am using it with SiberSafe. I cannot locate anywhere in Help or on the toolbar a feature that enables me to "turn on/off" tags from displaying. What I see is all text, with no font/color differentiation for the tags. Does FM 9 enable users to do this? And if so, how do I do this? Thanks!!

What I mean, what I am looking to do in Adobe is discern actual content from tags, as displayed on the screen. Currently in FrameMaker, and unlike Epic Editor, all of the tags and content appear the same - same font type, same font color. This makes it harder to read and differentiate between the tags (even though they are in brackets) and content which slows down my progress. If I could make all tags a different color, that would help tremendously.

Error for fetching long text in xml tag for xml publisher report

My requirement is to fetch a large document which is in text format in XML output which can be printed in PDF format by using RTF method to generate PDF.But during XML ouput i got the following error-
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh

XXBG_EAMWRREP_V1 is the rdf and LIST_G_WO_ACTIVITY_CODE, G_WO_ACTIVITY_CODE, LIST_G_MEDIA_ID1, G_MEDIA are the groups name. In the group
G_MEDIA i am fetching long_text from attahcment in application. In Database table the datatype of the text attachment is 'long' and there is a huge text
data loaded in large data editor of that column. If the text data volume is small enough then there is no problem for fetching the xml output.
If we change the output format as HTMl then there is no problem for fetching the output for long text but for xml output format we are unable to fetch the data
in xml tag.
One thing to mention the oracle report is the copy of Maintenance Work Order Detail Report. The seeded report is HTML format in 11i. The requirement is to make it in xml report.

How to add Multiple XML Tags for a single column for an RDF

Hi Gurus,
I have Requirement in the Oracle D2k Report from which we are generating the xml tags.
My Requirement is in a table i have 2 columns say A and B.
i am able to generate three xml tags separately using the report builder by clicking on the column name and in the xml setting giving the xml tag.
eg: table Acount contains 2 columns A and B with respective data

QTR 2
i am able to general xml tags like this

I'm sorry for being so dense, but I'm not quite following, although what I've tried makes me think if I can follow you, it will work :)
To answer your initial questions, you are correct with both your assumptions:
1) detailType is the parameter that specificies YTD/Weekly, this is a "report defined" parameter that I am using to determine which Row Group to display (either YTD or Weekly)
2) SchoolDaysActiveWeek is the parameter that is being set to either true or false -- this is a field in the cube that states whether that record is for the current week or not
So in following your instructions, well that's the problem I'm not quite following :)
1) When you say Delete the SchoolDaysActiveWeek parameter from the report only, do you mean to mark the parameter as Hidden? If so, I've done this.
2) I'm not quite sure where to use the statement you provided me. You said to put it in the dataset, but I don't know which dataset. I assume you mean the "main" dataset (as opposed to the hidden dataset that gets generated when you mark a field
as a parameter). If this is the case, the only place I could see that would allow you to use such a statement is in the Filter section of the properties. I tried this, and it did not generate any errors, but it also kept my report groups from displaying
-- it just showed a blank report, so I think it probably wasn't bringing back any rows to populate them with.
I also tried going into the Expression section for the SchoolDaysActiveWeek parameter in the second screenshot and placing the statement there. When I did this and ran the report, I would get the following error:
The 'SchoolDaysActiveWeek' parameter is missing a value
So what am I missing!?

BTW, "XMLDATA" is a pseudo-column used by Oracle. I don't know if it'll ever cause any conflict but maybe you should rename your column.

Extracting value from XML tags in Java

Hi all,
I need to extract the value from a string (XML Format). Eg. <Name>Ray</Name> and displaying Name: Ray
The string value is like any other String class object except that it is format with XML tags. I have quite a few examples that shows how a value can be read from a .xml file but none that describe how to get a value from a String object.

i am new to JAXP. i tried the sample program provided in the following link. it just counts the number of tags in the XML file. XML file name is given as command line argument.
Now, if i want to display the value in the XML tag( say <NAME>xxx</NAME> in this tag i want to display the value 'xxx' ), what has to be done?

Just the same way as you do in JSP. Since JSF 1.2 you can use unified EL #{ } in c:forEach.
You can also use Tomahawk's [t:dataList|http://myfaces.apache.org/tomahawk-project/tomahawk12/tagdoc/t_dataList.html] by the way. It is more efficient.

JSTL unicode xml does not display after x:parse call

I am trying to display an xml file on the web using JSTL xml tags. The file is encoded in utf-8 containing ancient Greek characters (x1f92, etc.). The file displays properly from a servlet + xslt (http://163.1.169.41/testapp), but I want to use JSTL.
The JSTL produces intricate spaghetti on the screen (e.g. �� ). I have seen this before --it would seem that unicode is indeed being directed at the screen but is not being interpreted properly. (Not strings of question marks mind you; the unicode seems to be there in this case).
The code producing the spaghetti is below. I am just dumping in on the screen for now and will use xpath calls later for more precise extraction.
Does the JSTL want character entities for the x arse call? I would not think so: parsing a utf-8 file would be a very common operation. How can I get the xml unicode file to display properly using the JSTL below?

Is it the parse or the import tag that is at fault?
Try just printing the results of the <c:import> and see what it produces.
you might try <c:import var="papyrus" url="blabula.xml" charEncoding="utf-8" />

Wanted - XML Tag with AJAX; JSF compatible

Hello, I'm looking for a tag that displays XML in a collapsible format.
So I start with an XML tree displaying level 1 tree info. When the user clicks on a node, it uses AJAX to dynamically pull info associated with the node and displays the XML sub-tree. The user can then click on a sub-node to view the tree associated with the sub-node, or collapse a node and move onto another node.
It needs to be JSF compatible too.
Is this doable and if yes, then could you recommend what hoops will I need to jump through to make it so.

Is the XML file being generated on the fly in your servlet? Well, you wrote it, didn't you? So you should know. If your servlet is what you posted there, you aren't even generating XML. You are just generating some text, which isn't XML.
The point is, if you want XML generated then it's up to you to do that. Nothing happens automagically. If you want XML with a "message" element then you have to generate XML with a "message" element.

Problem using JSTL XML tags.

My xml tag is giving problems. All other tags (core/sql and EL) are working fine. Even a very simple code like :

What server are you running, and version of java?
Is there anything else on the page? Are you extending a class somehow?
Do you have any extra libraries in the web-inf/lib directory that might be conflicting?

Stripping off XML tags

Hi,
Can someone help me with providing some code on how to strip off the XML tags in an XML file like the following:

All I want to get back is whatever in between <product_name>. Basically, all the tags with <..> I need to get rid off from this XML file.
Does anybody know if I can use regular expressions in java? That way, would it be easier not to use parsers?
Please provide me ideas, sources, examples, etc.
