XML to Java and Back.

hi
I have a huge XML file (4 MB). I parsed it & put the data in a java object using SAX. its fast. Now I want to generate a XML file from java. I tried JAXB but it takes forever. Does anyone have any better idea?
Thanks.

Hi all,
I know I am the millionth guy asking this question but can I know a great way to generate a XML from java?
Thanks
Sunil.

  • XML to Java and back again

    Okay, I've seen this question asked many times and I don't see a lot of great solutions. I've been searching for the last hour and looked at xBeans, XMLBeans, xStream, you name it. Anyway, what I want to do is model my XML and Java objects (if I can't auto-generate the classes) and then at runtime the XML should be loaded directly into the data model. I know that writing a custom parser is old school and there are tools to do this for me but I can't seem to find what I need. What do you recommend for doing this?

    Check out the Commons Digester.
    The Digester package lets you configure an XML -> Java object mapping module, which triggers certain actions called rules whenever a particular pattern of nested XML elements is recognized.
    You can't get any better than this....in my opinion.
    Good Luck!

  • Query resultset to xml using java and XML schema

    Hi,
    I query data using JDBC and I want to store it to an XML file which has a well defined XML schema. I searched a lot in the forum but did not find an answer. Please guide me to create this program.
    I have managed to use JDBC to get result set but I do not know how to export is to XML using XSD and Java.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Ravi

    I have managed to use JDBC to get result set but I do
    not know how to export is to XML using XSD and Java.Export using XSD? Schemas are for validation.
    Iterate through the result set, and build up the XML stream by creating an entry for each row.
    Another way to do it is to load the ResultSet into a Java object and serialize that to XML using something like XStream.

  • How to write from database to XML file using JAVA and back..

    Hi....
    I am strugling for a code to write from database to xml output instead of what i have written in flat file....could anyone please help me out...to do this and again read the same back to the database using java...

    Hi,
    In java world, there is a tutorial on what you are looking for :
    http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-01-2000/jw-01-dbxml_p.html
    It uses SAX/DOM parsers to translate XML data into the appropriate fields of the database and visa-versa.
    Hope it helps.

  • Writing XML from java and import this into OpenOffice

    Hello , i'd like to write a XML file which covers Text and Images and can be imported into OpenOffice. The Export to XML already works. But i don't know what XSL or other files a necessary ? Does anyone have a converter ? Or can gibe a clue ?

    dunno if it is feasable with only an XML file.
    i am doing this by generating an SXW file (OpenOffice) using JAXP for the XML content and java.util.zip to pack the XML and the images in the SXW.

  • Xml, xsl, java and database

    I have several xml documents that uses different tags to describe the same type of information. In my case they describe a row in a database table.
    file1.xml
    <therow>
    <name>Jones</name>
    <title>manager</title>
    </therow>
    file2.xml
    <arow>
    <employee>King</employee>
    <job>manager</job>
    </arow>
    I want to use a technology for reading the content of the two files and generate a new document for each file that will use generic tags so the content of the new files could look like:
    file1
    <row>
    <employeename>Jones</employeename>
    <employeetitle>manager</employeetitle>
    </row>
    file2
    <row>
    <employeename>King</employeename>
    <emplyeetitle>manager</employeetitle>
    </row>
    An then I can read this information by using a generic Java class and insert it into the database table..
    I was told that the technology used for doing this was XSLT. I have been searching the web for examples and also tried to read some of the content in the Steve Muench book 'Building Oracle XML Applications'.
    I have managed to create XSL files, but I would really appreciate if someone could show me a real example of how to do this, with the xml file, the xsl file, and a small java program to read this. Can anyone help?

    Post your XSL files, otherwise we'd have to write them again.

  • Java and XML Parser. Please guide.

    Hello there,
    I need to pass an XML document using the SAX Parser.
    Please does any one have an XML Parser routine to parse
    the document or can some one guide me as to what to do?

    any sax parsers?What version of Java are you using? With Java 1.4 the XML parser is included in the SDK / JRE.
    If you're using an older version of Java, go to http://xml.apache.org and get the Xerces parser.

  • Read, Modify and Apply Report XML using Java Script

    Hi Guys,
    Is there any way that we can Pragmatically Read, Modify and Apply Report XML using Java Script or some other way.
    Thanks

    Edited by: Kaushik K on Jun 20, 2012 8:36 PM

    Requirement ::
    Users should be able to add Column to the Report Dynamically at Runtime.
    (There are around 1000+ Users, Answers Approach is not acceptable)
    So we are planning to provide a Multi Select / Shuttle Box Option for Users to add Columns dynamically. (Only for Table View)
    What we planned to DO ::
    Create a Presentation Variable Prompt, Which reads the Metadata Table (Presentation Table.Column Name, populated using the Metadata Dictionary)
    And Create a report with One Column and the Column Fx like @{var_dynamic_columns}{'"Time"."Year","Time"."Month"'}
    With this, OBIEE is rewriting the Logical SQL Currently as "Select "Time"."Year","Time"."Month" from "A - Sample Sales" "
    But getting an error
    The number of columns returned in retrieving column metadata was invalid (expected: 1; received: 2)
    So we want to see, if we can rewrite the Advanced XML of the Report to have dynamic columns based on the Values from the Presentation Variable.
    Please help me if this is a viable solution or any other better solution.

  • XML data file links java and sap

    Hi ,
    Please help me this
    How to connect xml file to java into sap
    please send me sample scenario.
    in java i call the this sap function module  'BAPI_MAT_BOM_EXISTENCE_CHECK'.
    1. Check BOM existence with BAPI_MAT_BOM_EXISTENCE_CHECK
    2. Exit BOM diff if BOM doesn’t exist
    3. Read BOM structure with CSAP_MAT_BOM_READ
    4. Compare SAP BOM items incl. subitems to XML BOM items and subitems

    currently I use following methods tu opload and to transfor the xml into a string.
    * Method to create XML from data file
      CALL METHOD instance->import_from_file
        EXPORTING
          filename = gf_filename
        RECEIVING
          retcode  = ch_retcode.
    * Convert into XML-Stream
      CALL METHOD instance->render_2_string
    *  EXPORTING
    *    pretty_print = 'X'
        IMPORTING
        retcode      = ch_retcode
          stream       = lf_string .
    *    size         = .
    When I use read dataset the output of the xml is into an internal table where I have many lines depending on the XML data file, this means if my xml has 10lines the internal table of read dataset has also 10 lines but I need a string to make the transformation of the xml.

  • Can somebody explain to me how java and xml are related?

    Hi guys
    im new to java and xml.Been reading a lot regarding java and don't seem to have a problem with it...
    the problem is the xml part...im doing a simple GUI project using swing(online store) and i have to convert it to xml
    I have absolutely NO IDEA why i must convert my java to xml and have no idea how to do that.I been reading on the net that xml is a exten~ markup language and it is better and useful.
    Can somebody explain to me in layman terms
    1)how is java and xml related in?
    2)why do ppl want to convert java to xml when they can just stick to java
    3)what is actually xml...
    4)Do i need a program to create xml like i need jcreater to create java application
    5)How do we actually convert?is there any links that you guys could tell me?
    thank you
    tomleo

    im new to java and xml.Been reading a lot regarding
    java and don't seem to have a problem with it...Okay.
    the problem is the xml part...im doing a simple GUI
    project using swing(online store) and i have to
    o convert it to xmlYou have to? So presumably somebody in a position of authority told you that?
    I have absolutely NO IDEA why i must convert my java
    to xml and have no idea how to do that.I been reading
    on the net that xml is a exten~ markup language and
    it is better and useful.I have no idea either (besides which, it doesn't make sense). But why ask us? Somebody told you to do that, ask them why.
    Sure, XML is useful. But it isn't a programming language so it can't be used as a substitute for Java.
    Can somebody explain to me in layman terms
    1)how is java and xml related in?They aren't related, except perhaps in that they are both used in computers.
    2)why do ppl want to convert java to xml when they
    can just stick to javaThey don't.
    3)what is actually xml...Start here for numerous definitions:
    http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&lr=&oi=defmore&q=define:XML
    4)Do i need a program to create xml like i need
    jcreater to create java applicationNo, XML is just text. But then Java code is just text too.
    5)How do we actually convert?is there any links that
    you guys could tell me?You don't convert Java to XML. My guess is that because you don't know much about Java or XML, you have misinterpreted something that somebody told you.

    I,m new with XML and i have to convert a VB application that connects to an ASP using Microsoft XML and I need to know if I can connect from a java application to an ASP using XML for transfering the infornation.
    In the ASP side it uses DOM, and I would like not to touch the ASP and create a new application with java and get rid of the VB application

    What I need to do is to change the VB part for a Java application and basicly, I don't know what Class of Java I have to use to connect to the ASP.
    If you were so kind of giving me an example to do this I will appreciate it.

  • How to read  and write XML in java

    I have a code that reads a large XML file, splits it into smaller files, filters and then writes it into a new XML file. My problem is that I had coded the input file name into the code, so that only the specified file can be read. How can I rewrite my code to be able to take any input xml and perform the same operation? Here's a portion of my code below:
                            File file = new File("c:\\APAdjustmentJVDoc_FINAL.xml");
                        output = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(file));
                        for (int i = 1; i < 79; i++) {
                             fIStream = new FileInputStream("c:\\APAdjustmentJVDoc_new" + i + ".xml");
                             loRead = new InputStreamReader(fIStream);
                             doc = XMLUtil.transformToNode(loRead, false);
                             System.out.println("Reading from file " + "c:\\APAdjustmentJVDoc_new" + i + ".xml");
                             writeFile(doc, docIdList, output);
                             fIStream.close();
                             loRead.close();
                        System.out.println("Output file complete");
                   } catch (Exception e) {
                        e.printStackTrace();
                   } finally {
                        if (output != null) {
                             output.close();
                        if (fIStream != null) {
                             fIStream.close();
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();

    You need to pass your filename String as a parameter to your functionality. It depends how you're currently set up though. We can't really see the top of your call so it's difficult to determine what you are calling and we don't really know from where you're calling either.
    If you're running standalone, then on launch of the application, you can feed in a file name as an argument that you can read in in String args[] in the main function and pass down to your XML splitter.
    If you're a method in a class that's part of a bigger pile, you can feed the file name as a String to the method from wherever you call from if it makes sense architecturally.
    You might also want to pass down a File object if that makes sense in your current code (i.e. if you're using your file for other purposes prior to the split, to avoid recreating closing/opening for no reason).
    Depends what you're trying to do. If I put together a piece like this, I would probably create an <yourcurrentrootpackage>.xml.splitter package.
    Also, on a side note, you're problem isn't really reading and writing XML in java, but seems more to be making your functionality generic so that any XML file can be split with your code.

  • XML to java object AND Performance

    Hi,
    I read some article about marshalling a XML file to Java Object (like Castor, XML Beans projects...)
    To resume: I would like to marshal a XML doc (from XML to Java object. Later I would like to put these objects on a SGBD...). Unfortenaly I suppose that approach is to expensive on term of performance? Supposing that my xml doc contain 100 data's occurances, XML bean woulkd create 100 objects corresponding. My problem is that I don't want that the all 100 objects live in the same time on memory. For example, my code will read sequential, the xml occurances (like a Sax parser), create 10 datas objects (standby), put these in the data base, and destroy these objects before...iteratively create the next 10 objects...
    It is possible ? Can anybody help me?
    Thank

    On the article: Java Architecture for XML Binding (JAXB)
    (http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/WebServices/jaxb/)
    I found maybe a response?
    "...in other words, you can do a SAX parse of a document and then pass the events to JAXB for unmarshalling. "
    But somebody could help me to write the code to do that?
