XML with attributes 2 CSV with file adapter

Hi,
I have used this [link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/Helpdata/EN/24/4cad3baabd4737bab64d0201bc0c6c/content.htm] to convert a xml file to a csv file. That works fine so far as long as my source file is like this:
<root>
<tag>
<element1>
<element2>
</tag>
</root>
But what can I do if I have it like this?
<root>
<tag element1="something" element2="nothing" ...>
</tag>
</root>
With my current settings in my file receiver channel the attributes in this example element1, element2 are not being postet in the csv file and I have no idea how to do this. The link from above does not mention anything like this. Is it possible, at all?

In this case you have to change your Source structure and map the attrbute values to target and in receiver channel you can perform your content conversion.

Thanks much.
I did exactly what you said.
Just to see any change, I first gave a bad report file name just to see if I am accidentally pointing to a different file,
but I got an error saying report not found.
Then I renamed my original datafile name and generated a report and it still generated one without giving an error.
Then I also gave a junk name to the logoninfo and printed that name, the new name was assigned to logoninfo, but the code did not error out.
It ended up generating the report.
Now here is what I think is happening,
1) The save data in report option seems to be still on even though I have turned it off in 2 locations
a) file -> Report Options
b) file -> Options -> Reporting tab.
2) For some reason the logoninfo is getting ignored as well.
Since I did not see any answers yesterday I posted a link to this thread on the .Net forum

and Ludek Uher says that I am connecting to the text file via a DAO database engine and so need to use the same code for changing the text file as for changing an Access database.
But the link he gave me tells me to try the same thing that we have been trying..
Here is my plan,
1) I will first try and find out why my save data with report option is still on ( but it shows off in Crystal ).
2) why is LogonInfo getting ignored.
Meanwhile any suggestions from anyone are welcome.

Looking at the original thread, you are connecting to the text file via the DAO database engine:
"I added the text file as follow, new connection -> Access/Excell (DAO) -> select the file and the database type as text"
Thus I would use the same code for changing the text file as for changing an Access database. Archive file with errors in sender file adapter not working! please help!

Hi Experts,
I have a file to RFC scenario. the input is a XML file. I have setup the flag in sender file adapter channel for archiving the input files with errors. But it is not working.
For testing I have used an invalid xML file for example without the main XML tag. I have also tested with a MSWORD file saved with.xml extension. But in both the cases the files are not getting archived.
My archive location permissions are fine and in fact normal archive operation is happening. That is, if I select the processing mode as "Archive" and gave the Archive directory then files are getting archived. The problem is only with the "Archive faulty source files" option.
What am I missing? DO I need to do some more configurations?
What are the prerequisites if any for this option?
How to test this?
Please help me! I will be greatfull to you all!

Problem with fixedlenthgs in receiver file adapter

HI,
I am doing XML to flat file scenario and using mutli mapping concept without BPM.
in the receiver file adapter I am using FCC with fixedlengths,then it generated just 3 output files out of nearly 100 source files.the errored one are succcessful in the SXMB_MONI and failing in RWB-->Message moni with waiting status and MDT says that XI_J2EE_ADAPTER_FILE ,Error Code PROCESSING_ERROR .
i tried in SDN and then found something like enable the disablesecurity check box in variable substitution parameters ,then I got 4 files out.
these are my FCC params for all structures:
struc1.fieldFixedLengths
struc1.fixedLengthTooShortHandling
struc1.endSeparator
and I tried with fieldSeparator then it gives successfully all output files.
so,where is the problem?I didnt understand?
any suggestion.

I felt the same way,but assumed that ,in that way fixedlenghths wont work.
in my target structure most of the fields have 0-1 occurences ,and even in the source structure too.so,I think it might be the reason.Then I have to make all my about 60fields 1-1 madatory and using mapWithDefaultValue function, as my sources are optional.
you think it will work just using the "mapWithDefaultValue" function without changing my occurences to 1-1 in the target structure(mandatory)?infact I can try but ,cos of pain for changing like 60 fields....:) and even dont know which fields are causing the problem,so that we can apply "mapWithDefaultValue" function only on those fields.

Receiving multiple files with dual extension using file adapter

Hi,
The scenario where I am implementing requires multiple files of different names to be picked(ABC.txt) and dropped at destination(ABC.txt.pgp) up by my File Sender and Receiver adapters. Any idea on about how the configuration for receiving multiple files with dual extension for receiver adapter is to be done?
Note:- currently, The scenario is working fine without dual extension. i.e Its picking all files which starts with ABC and creating at destination as it is. even I configured as ABC.txt.pgp, but its not creating the second extension.

Hi,
Try to concatenate '.pgp ' to the source file name to create the target file name for the receiver file adapter, by accessing the Adapter Specific Attributes using Java user defined function. This might work.

Crystal Report with text(csv) data file, unable to connect on deployment.

I have a crystal report that connects to a text file using (Access/Excel DAO).
Now I wrote a C# .net code that loads this report and change the file name to the text file to a different file
using table.TableName and table.Location to the new file and location,
then I do applyLogonInfo.
This worked perfectly on the machine where I developed my report and code but when I put the
files to a different machine where I need to deploy the reports, I get the following error.
Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters.
   at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers.DatabaseControllerClass.SetTa
bleLocation(ISCRTable CurTable, ISCRTable NewTable)
   at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table.set_Location(String value)

I have done the following on the deployment machine.
1) I have installed the CR_runtime libraries required to be able to run crystal report applications.
2) I have put my .rpt file and the .csv database files in the correct folder.
3) I have put my exe file on the machine.
I run it from the command line.
Am I missing something like registering the DAO or creating a DSN explicitly?

After searching through the forums I found this nice document

Using it's steps, I found out that when I created the report file using CR, I had the data connection set as a path
on the D drive. But the client/deployment machine did not have a D drive and hence the path to which the database was
pointing to. Therefore, the error "cannot connect to database" since the database name was pointing to D:pathToData
When I created a report that was on the C drive and it's data connection was also made from C drive then the same report worked fine on the client machine. I had to make sure that on the client machine I set up the exact same folder structure as the development machine's (i.e. C:pathToMyDataandReportFolder).
I tried using the setConnection function to change this path at run-time but did not succeed.

Problem with NFS in sender file adapter

Hi everybody,
I´m facing the following problem.
The XI runs under a HP-UNIX server and I want to access into a windows server by using NFS in the file sender adapter.
I have created a shared folder in the windows server.
In the Source Directory field I have typed: //Windows_Server/Shared_folder.
In the file name field: FileA.txt
The error is the following:
History:
- 2006-11-24 13:16:41 CET: Retry interval started. Length: 10.000 s
- 2006-11-24 13:16:41 CET: Error: Directory //Windows_Server/Shared_folder does not exist
- 2006-11-24 13:16:41 CET: Processing started
Do I need to do anything else?
Any idea?

can you access the folder when you're logged onto the HP-UNIX server?
with this path //Windows_Server/Shared_folder.
(via console for example) ?

Problems with text lenght in file adapter

Hi everyone.
I'm trying to move a file from a folder to another one.
Problem is that this file (plain text) contains only one field per row but this field contains more than 2000 chars.
When i get the result file, i only have the first 256 chars per row.
Is there any way to get the 2000 chars in destiny using XI ?

you can use absoluteRowWidth parameter to restrict
Fixed Column Width of the Text Document:
NameA.absoluteRowWidth=<noOfColumns>
If the separators do not contain any line breaks, the text document is generated as a single line of text. To restrict the width of the text, use this parameter. <noOfColumns> represents the maximum number of columns in this case. This parameter also functions together with the specification of a line break for xml.endSeparator.

This value requires NameA.addHeaderLine=0 to be specified.

Load Parent-Child dimension with attributes by rule file

Well, I've cracked my head open while banging against this wall.
Task is plain & simple:
How can I load build dimension from such table, using rule file?
Data
ProductParent ProductChild ProductAttribute
Balls Ball_8 Round
I want to load both product dimension and attribute by single rule file (neither of these dimensions exists in database before load), so I do the following:
1) Set dimension build settings, creating dimension Products (marking it P\C generated, sparse), having an attribute dimension AttributeDim
2) Mark the fields as Parent, Child and AttributeDim of dimension Products
After loading rule file a get three types of errors:
a) "Base member (Balls) association level does not match base dimension association level" -- does this mean that I cannot assign attributes in P\C way?
b) "Record #327 - Can not uniquely identify member by Balls (3335)
Balls Ball_8 Round" -- That's strange, I thought member should be identified by Ball_8 (and this column is unique)
c) "\\Record #418 - Error in association transaction [Ball_8] to [Round] (3362)"
I've read all I could find on topic from this forum, network45 board and going to start my way through metalink3, but maybe some kind soul will rescue me from drowning in information ocean?

Outline is blank at the start of load and I expect dimensions Product and ProdAttribute to be added.
Generations are unapplicable, since I can't turn this parent-child dimension (it's ragged) into generation one.
And, by the way Integration Services manages to do this somehow, why rule files wouldn't?

Problem with file adapter polling on Unix

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to run my BPEL process with receive activity of File adapter partner link. Everything is working OK on Windows file system - folder polling is set correctly and when the new file appears and is at least 2 minutes old, the process starts. But when I try to run the process on the UX server with BPEL (folders are changed to the correct values as '/home/myfolder', rights for this folder are set to RWX for everybody and process is deployed successfully to the appropriate domain) nothing is done when the new file appears in the folder.
I really don't know, where is the problem. Any hint from you?

When this option is set, file adapter acquires a enqueue service lock. File Adapter and reading all XML files from direcotry

Problem occurs on PI 7.1
I defined sender file adapter. File name mask is: "*.xml" to read all XML messages from directory.
Quality of service is: Exactly One.
Poll Interval: 30
Retry interval: 30
Processing mode: Archive with option "Add Timestamp".
Processing sequence: by name.
I though that with above configuration my File Adapter will be reading folder for all coming XML files. But somehow it is reading XMLs only when I'm activating it in Integration Builder.
Any idea what can cause such strange problem?

Hi Tomasz,
As per my understanding, you need to activate the file adapter for reading the XML files on your directory. Right?
If that is the case, then the issue might be with the Cache.
1. Clear the cache from the Integration Builder.
2. Check in SXI_CACHE whether there are any issues. Click on Delta Cache refresh to find out if there are any cache related issues.

File name naming convention in File Adapter configuration in ID

I have a query related to xml filename created in IDOC-XI-FILE scenario based on value of one of IDOC field .
The scenario is like this :
I have to send one xml file per store for material master . In this case how can I define my file name with store name in File adapter configuration in ID .
Naming convention should be
<storename>_date_masterdataname.xmlwhere store name is one of field of IDOC .

you have to specify variable substitution
(in the file adapter)
and give the path to the store name (in the variable sustitution table)
you file name schema (from the file communication channel can look like this)

ESB or BPEL file adapter and special characters

Hi,
We have a scenario where we import rows from .csv file through an ESB project into a database. We use the file adapter for this. There appears to be a problem with special characters (like é). Both in the ESB control (with variable tracking) and in the database, they appear as upside down questionmarks (¿). I've tried doing the same with a BPEL project (file adapter as client PL) and in the BPEL console, I also see strange characters instead of the expected special characters (diamond shaped characters, like ♦ to be precise).
I can't find anything about character sets of character set conversions in the documentation. What am I missing?

BPEL does the exact same thing, so I'm starting to believe that the problem really is with the file adapter.

Hi All, am using a file adapter to pick up file using content conversion , but i can see it happens to be mapping error, i have set all in right format but below one thing i cud not understand how to change, as shown bellow.

Read file name from Payload (File Adapter)

Hello experts,
with Receiver-File Adapter I want to save a specific file. Name is given in the xml payload. I use Variable Substitution.
My structure is like this:
<root>
 <elements>
 <name>name1</name>
 </elements>
 <elements>
 <name>name2></name>
 </elements>
</root>
File name schema: %file%
Variable Substitution:
 File Name: file
 Reference: payload:root,1,elements,1,name,1
With this expression my file adapter creates two files (as recommended), but they have both the name "name1". I want to create n files with n different names, given by one xml structure. How can this task be done? Setting the occurency from "1" to "n" or "*" does not work.

Hi,
Like pointed by you , your source strucutre,
<root>
 <elements>
 <name>name1</name>
 </elements>
 <elements>
 <name>name2></name>
 </elements>
</root>
The target strucuture after mutlimapping will be like,
My structure is like this:
<root>
 <elements>
 <name>nameX</name>
 </elements>
 </root>
Now, using Variable Name substitution, you will have the "name " element at a fixed level always , payload:root,1,elements,1,name,1 and so you Variable Name subsitution will also work fine.
