XP to Windows 7 Migration without removing CM07 Agents?

Hello
There are no plans to migrate our old CM07 environment to CM12 so we need to support our existing CM07 clients during the migration to CM12. We need to use a State Migration Point to migrate all XP machines to Windows 7 (replace method). The majority of the
XP machines do not have a CM Agent installed so we need to deploy CM12 to these machines. However, there are a large number of XP machines that
do have a CM07 Agent and are still required to communicate with the legacy CM07 SCCM environment for inventory and software distribution purposes.
We understand that we cannot deploy the CM12 Agent to these machines because a machine cannot have 2 different versions of the CM Agent installed at the same time.  If so, how can we migrate these machines without removing the old CM07 Agent?
Thanks
Scott

If it has an 07 agent, it can only be managed by the 07 environment and therefore must be migrated to Win 7 from XP using the 07 site. There's no way around this.
Trying to do two major moves like this at the same time is a recipe for disaster.
You should finish one, then take on the other.

  • How to Factory Reset a Windows 7 PC Without Removing the OS?

I just inhertited an older Window 7 Toshiba PC (I'm not sure exactly what make, although I know it's a Satellite). There are a lot of programs, files, settings, and what not from the previous owner. I want to wipe every last bit of data on the computer; however, I do not want to uninstall the Windows 7 OS as I do not have the discs to reinstall it nor do I have any way of obtaining them. How can I factory reset the PC while leaving the OS intact?

Go to Start, Search and type PC and click on PC Diagnostic Tool in the results above.  Here you will find all the details about your computer. In any future communications here, give us the Model Name, Part Number and Operating System shown there.
Go to Start, Search and type Disk Management. If you show a partition there on the first part of your HDD of about 1.5GB and another partition at the end of the HDD of about 15GB, you have HDD Recovery built in the HDD and you can recover to out-of-box using that.  The procedure is in your User's Guide.  Start, Search, type User's Guide and click on User's Guide.  Look under "Recovery of Internal Storage Drive".
If for some reason that procedure doesn't work, you can order free recovery media HERE (scroll down) from Toshiba for a shipping and handling charge. This procefdure is also in your User's Guide.
    Good Luck!

  • How do I remove ALL Metro/Modern/Universal/Windows Apps without removing the Start Menu?

So with three separate builds of WTP I've run the PowerShell command to remove Metro/Modern/Universal/Windows Apps. With each build, it also removes the Start Menu. In the thread below, an MS Support person mentioned that that command was only for Windows
8.x and shouldn't be run on WTP. What? Then why is that command still available? And, why will it remove some Metro/Modern/Universal/Windows Apps, but not others? Are they marked as System required? Why isn't the Start Menu marked as System required? You'd
think that the start menu would be pretty important.
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/053f63bc-c174-44f1-8f6c-8ead1ad965fb/spartan-and-start-menu-on-10049?forum=WinPreview2014General
So, with the start menu being an XAML app, how do I safely remove ALL Metro/Modern/Universal/Windows Apps without removing the Start Menu? I have no use for them and don't want them on my computer. Period. There has to be some command like the one we used
in Windows 8.x that will allow use to remove ALL Metro/Modern/Universal/Windows Apps without removing the Start Menu.
Don't give an answer like "just right-click and uninstall". That doesn't work for all of these things, and do you know how long it takes to do that for all of those silly things? Too long! That's also not practical for an Enterprise desktop. It's
also not practical to leave all of that junk on the desktop, so don't suggest that either.
    Dan

The problem with PowerShell and all of those scripts is that those particular scripts require a lot of typing, or copy and paste, or having to figure out where all of those apps are stored and then insert their convoluted names into the script. For
me, scripting is like programming. I have no desire to be a programmer/developer.
I just want an option in Programs and Features to be able to turn these "features" off. We were able to do it in previous versions of Windows. If we didn't want Internet Games, we uncheck the box. If we don't want our users to be able to print
documents over the Internet, we uncheck the box. And so on down the line for any other "feature" we didn't want our enterprise users to have.
Or, we could turn those features off using the System Image Manager. Now we have to write some convoluted script with even more convoluted commands for even more convoluted names for things we don't want.
The easier script in Windows 8.x was just get-appxpackages -online | remove-appxpackages. That removed the majority of the apps for an individual user. The remove-appxprovisionedpackage command, with the convoluted name of the app, would remove them from
the hard drive - one app at a time, but that doesn't work in Windows 10.
So, they came up with a DISM command, but that doesn't work in Windows 10 either. I should say that with my limited developer skills I haven't found a way to make it work.
Again, I have no desire to be a developer/scripter. They are the same thing in my book. I'm a systems engineer. I do operating systems, not write applications.

So, I guess there is no real answer to this question.

how to install windows server 2012 r2 without remove the current windows 8.1

Use guide below to convert it to 'basic' disk, or install windows on another drive. The supported way is to delete all partitions and convert it to a basic disk.
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755238.aspx
However, your windows 8.1 must be on another drive?, as windows cannot boot from a dynamic disk.

  • Removing songs from itunes without removing them from ipod

Is it possible to remove songs from iTunes without removing them from iPod? When I attempt to delete songs from iTunes I get a warning that they'll be deleted from iPod as well. I've got Manually manage music and videos checked under Options in the Summary window.

You can delete songs from your iTunes/computer hard drive after transferring them to the iPod, and for this you need to set your iPod to manage the iPod content manually.
However, this is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.
What if the iPod were lost/stolen/needed repair? Again, the music would lost. I strongly recommend a back up, and if computer hard drive space is in short supply, you should seriously consider an external hard drive. They are not expensive, and the cost is well worth it when compared to the loss of all your precious music.
At the very least back up your music to either cd or dvd before deleting it, particularly any purchased music/videos, as this would have to be bought again if it were lost. See these about backing up media.
How to back up your media in iTunes.
    Buegie's complete back up strategy.
To move music from iPod to computer, check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

  • How do I remove a song from an album without removing it from my computer library or another album?

How do I remove a song from an itunes album on my MacBook without removing it from my library or from another album. It ended up in the wrong album

When you delete the song, a menu will come up and ask you if you want to trash or keep the file. Select "keep file."   It will no longer be in your song list but it will remain on your harddrive. To add it back in use the --"add to library"--  command in the  drop down "File" Menu (you have to navigagte to where the song is stored on your hard drive and select it-- to add it back in.
Re: it ended up in the wrong album
If your songs are going in the wrong place go to the "Get Info" command and check the information under all the tabs (look at a song that's in the right album to see how it's listed) -- one or more of the boxes is incorrect or empty.  Just put  in the right information and close the info window. That should put it back in the right spot for you.

  • Updating Ipod Without Removing Songs

Hi, I was wondering is there a way to add new songs to the ipod without removing the current songs on it? Because I think when I update the ipod, with different folders, the songs aren’t there anymore. The reason is that I want to delete some of the videos that are on my computer since they are already on my ipod.
Also, I will be using a new computer for 2 weeks, so I’ll be adding new songs from a new itunes….will this delete the present songs on the ipod even though they are not on the computer?
    Thanks.

You need to change iTunes to manual updating rather than automatic. Then changes you make in iTunes will not be automatically made on your iPod. To make this change, mount the iPod and in iTunes either right-click on the iPod icon or go to the iPod Options at the bottom of the iTunes window.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you make a backup copy of any tracks or videos that you remove from iTunes before you delete them. Having content only on an iPod is not sufficiently reliable to risk.

  • Can I re-install FCE 3.5 without removing the FCE 3.5 already installed?

I'm still having problems not being able to open my project on my 2.5 quad which created it. But it opens fine on one of my other computers. I've decided to reinstall FCE 3.5. Can I reinstall it without removing the 3.5 already installed? If not, what are all the items I need to remove first?

Thanks so much for your help. I have two hard drives, one with my tiger system on it which I use 99% of the time. The other drive have partitioned in two, one for data and the other (just a small partition) has my Leopard system on it. Just to make sure my leopard system wasn't somehow interfering and causing me trouble I changed all its permissions to no access. It didn't make any difference in how FCE performed, so I went back to change everything back to read and write access, but as soon as I close the info window and reopen it the permissions are all back to no access. I even restarted and it's volume didn't even mount. Is ther some way to set the permissions back. Could the problem be that I locked the volume which has leopard on it while I was booted in Tiger? Of course now I can't boot up in Leopard even if I wanted to. Very confused.

  • I recently signed on with iCloud. I find that the prompts interrupt my workflow and the costs of this feature for someone with 200 gigs of data is not competitive. I want to cancel the mail, contacts, email, etc. without Removing data from my Mac. How?

I recently signed on for iCloud service, but find that it interrupts my workflow too often (which I know I can reset), but will soon exceed my free storage space. I have 200 gigs of data on my local drive and frankly the cost and benefit of having ICloud access to all of it is not competitive. This particular iCloud offering is overpriced for me. I want to cancel all iCloud services but can't seem to find an easy way to do it without removing the data on my local drive, which would be disaster. Need the communities help. Thanks to all.

Tried this, but unfortunately there was no way to cancel it even when disconnected from the NET. I'm on WIFI which I turned off.
    I keep getting a pop-up that says:
The same message comes up when you want to cancel or remove any of the other iCloud storage functions including Contacts and Emails. This is obviously a scary thought. Why would APPLE program in this type of message? I'm already at 50% of my FREE storage on iCloud after only 2 weeks. There is no way I'm going to be held hostage by this clearly unacceptable "pay or die" programming lapse when I get to 100%. I know APPLE loves making money. Who doesn't, but this makes no sense to this devoted "Since 1984" Apple fan.

How do I play a video in full-screen mode on one screen of a dual-screen Windows 7 system without blanking out the other screen?  Not losing the other screen would be useful as I would like to, for example, monitor my emails whilst watching a video or to work on a project whilst watching an instructional video.
Note : Resizing a window to fill the screen is not acceptable as it still leaves unsightly borders.

When e-mail addresses or usernames are saved in the drop down menu for easy access, is there a way to remove only the misspelled ones without removing all the correct spelled ones?

When you see one of those mis-spelt items, highlight it and then hit the Delete key (or hit {Ctrl + Delete} on some platforms).

  • Itunes 12.1.1.4 not run cd rom on windows xp sp3. have removed all cd burning software

itunes 12.1.1.4 not run cd rom on windows xp sp3. have removed all cd burning software.

    Thanks Alex,
I performed all of the steps you suggested and iTunes v-12.1.1 installed correctly.
The problem is, that version of iTunes now does not recognize my  HL-DTST DV-DRAM GMA-4082N, CD/DVD DRIVE.
When I insert a CD to rip into my iTunes library nothing happens.
If I click on the properties for that D-drive nothing shows using the Explore function.
If I open Microsoft Media Player v-11.0.5721.5262 I can see all of the tracks on the disk, and the player rips the songs to the Microsoft Media Player library which I can then play.
I then reinstalled VLC media player v-2.1.5, and was able to play cd's and watch DVD's. When I performed that install I again received the iTunes banner:
Earlier versions of iTunes worked just fine:
iTunes v-11.4 (32-bit) 10 September, 2014, (6 months ago), size: [106.11 MB], for Windows XP SP3 worked on this same Toshiba laptop.
The latest version: iTunes v-12.1.1 seems to want to be the only piece of software allowed on the 32 Bit XP system.
To me, it looks like Apple does not want any other applications running on this system. Not very thoughtful for customers that cannot afford to purchase more expensive computers when they are on a fixed income. I have been a long time user of Apple equipment when employed by Motorola, development engineering.in my younger years.
Is there any way to get the earlier versions of iTunes back on this laptop?
    Thanks,
    Jay
