XPATH in a XML Document

Hi guys, I need again your help.
I have many xml documents and I need create a class that "search" data at this xml documents. What I can do this!?!?
For example, I wanna get the Paul ages in the age.xml document!!!!! I wanna create a method like this:
SearchXmlfile search = new SearchXmlFile();
String result = search.get("/person@age[person@attribute = 'paul']"); //I pass the xpath like parameter
Someone know What I can do this?!!?
Just another question. When I create a transformer I set the Source and Result "Objects" (SAX, DOM or Stream). And where i set the xsl file?!!? I am reading the jwsdp tutorial and I don't understand where I configure the xsl file transformer to the transformer object!!!!
Thanks Again.
Giscard.

1. For selecting nodes with an XPath expression parse with the JDom parser and select nodes with the XPath class.
http://www.jdom.org/
2. Set the stylesheet in the Transformer.
           DocumentBuilderFactory factory =
            DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
            DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
           Document document = builder.parse(new File("c:/input.xml"));
            TransformerFactory tFactory =
                TransformerFactory.newInstance();
            StreamSource stylesource = new StreamSource(stylesheet);//Set the Stylesheet
            Transformer transformer = tFactory.newTransformer(stylesource);
            DOMSource source = new DOMSource(document);
            StreamResult result = new StreamResult(System.out);
            transformer.transform(source, result);

  • XPath to Update XML document

    Using XPath I can read a particular node of an XML document through JAVA program. However, is it possible to Update the value of the node, just read from XML doc, using XPath expressions ?

    That is blatant misinformation. Xpath is used all the time to select nodes from a document. The returned nodes are references to parts of the document, therefore this it should be easy to update any part of it having retrieved the required nodes.

    It's your XML namespace in the root element.
    First off, I have never seen the CRS Editor play nice when XML namespaces are involved.
    Secondly, with your namespace in place, not even a generic xpath expression tester can find your data.  See attachements.
    I think that if you find a way to either: not send, or remove the namespace from your document, your xpath expression will work.

  • Xpath and Get XML Document Data

    Good Morning,
    I have just recently gotten involved in a project that requires communicating with some web services (axis2). We have existing scripts that handle this already, but they were built when we weren't on axis2 so now the XML output from the web service call is slightly different and i am no longer able to use the same xpath statement in the Get XML Document Data step.
    I am receiving either null values or a prefix namespace error. I am new to xpath and have been reading as best i can from http://www.w3schools.com/xpath/ to try and understand how to write my statements to pull out the data i want correctly.
    I have read that sometimes the editor has problems if the XML contains namespace declarations, etc.
    Below is an example XML output where I'd like to be able to read the value in the ax211:success. My xpath gets prefix namespace errors as it doesn't recognize ax211.
    Xpath: /descendant::ns:validateCertificationResponse/child::ns:return/child::ax211:success
    Perhaps my xpath statement is just incorrect and wouldn't retrieve what i expect it to....
    Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi,
    well, it appears that text() is automatically appended to the XPath query for some reason in UCCX, this is why you actually see the text node within the ax211:success element. This //*[local-name()="success"] select the whole node, not its first child (which is actually the first element, which also happens to be a text).
    Anyway,
    // - anywhere
    * - any node
    And within this "everything" you actually search with the condition within the angular brackets.

  • Parse xml document with xpath

    I would like to parse an xml document using xpath, see:
    http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2005/01/12/xpath.html
    however, in the documentation (in the link above), it states that I need J2SE 5.0.
    Currently, I have:
    $ java -version
    java version "1.5.0_11"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_11-b03)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_11-b03, mixed mode, sharing)
    Does that mean that I really have to install J2SE 5.0 in order to use J2SE 5.0's XPath support? Does anybody know anything about getting started with XPath, and whether I can just use my existing version of Java? I've never used XPath.

  • XPath query on multiple namespace XML document

    Hi,
    I am trying to locate an element in a WordML XML document using XPath.
    The structure looks like:
    <w:body>
         <wx:sect>
              <aml:annotation aml:id="0" w:type="Word.Bookmark.Start" w:name="DOC0000966"/>
    ...So I use the following expression "/wordDocument//body/sect" wich gives me a list with the <w:sect> nodes.
    Then I search for "annotation[@type='Word.Bookmark.Start']" starting from each <w:sect> node. This yields the <aml:annotation> elem.
    So far so good.
    Now I have to handle a second case as well.
    <w:body>
         <wx:sect>
         <w:p>
              <aml:annotation aml:id="0" w:type="Word.Bookmark.Start" w:name="DOC0000966"/>
    ...As you can see the <aml:annotation> is nested inside a <w:p> elem.
    My intention was to use the expression "//annotation[@type='Word.Bookmark.Start']"to handle both cases, but this expression does not match neither.
    I have tried several different alternatives with expressions and NamingContext implementations, none working.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mariano.

    Hello,
    I decided to remove all namespaces and prefixes from the XML document and now the expression works.
    I have chaned the following:
    DocumentBuilderFactory is now namespace aware (it isn't by default).
              DocumentBuilderFactory builderFactory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
              builderFactory.setNamespaceAware(true);I picked this NamespaceContext implementation from JAXP 1.4 samples and mapped all prefixes and namespaces coming inside the XML.
              NamespaceContextImpl ns = new NamespaceContextImpl();
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("aml", "http://schemas.microsoft.com/aml/2001/core");
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("dt", "uuid:C2F41010-65B3-11d1-A29F-00AA00C1488");
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("o", "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office");
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("sl", "http://schemas.microsoft.com/schemaLibrary/2003/core");
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("v", "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml");
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("w", "http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/word/2003/wordml");
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("w10", "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word");
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("wx", "http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/word/2003/auxHint");
              XPathFactory xpathFactory = XPathFactory.newInstance();
              XPath xpath = xpathFactory.newXPath();
              xpath.setNamespaceContext(ns);Finally, I prefixed all elements in xpath expressions.
    "//aml:annotation[@w:type='Word.Bookmark.Start']"Happier now,
    Mariano.

  • Cisco UCCX 10.6 Get XML Document Data XPath count() function

    Hi
    I'd like to retrieve the number of XML nodes in a document to make a script more efficient.
    e.g. with this XML, I'd like to know how many <message> nodes there are:
    <messages>
    <message>contentA</message>
    <message>contentA</message>
    <message>contentA</message>
    </messages>
    I've tried iNodeCount = Get XML Document Data (inputXMLfile, "count(//messages/message)")
    If I try this in an XPath expression tester then I get the result I'm expecting - an integer of 3. However, in UCCX this produces the error "Can not convert #NUMBER to a NodeList!"... What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    you may want to use a Set or a Do step to execute Java code.
    First, reference the XML file (within the repository) by calling DOC[myFile.xml] and of course, assigning this value to a Document type variable, e.g.:
    Set myDocument = DOC[myFile.xml]
    Then add a Do step that actually does the XPath part of the job.
    There's a nice step by step explanation of it here: http://viralpatel.net/blogs/java-xml-xpath-tutorial-parse-xml/
    Remember, you can get the Inputstream object of the myDocument variable using the getInputStream() method on it.

  • How to search for a text node with a particular value in an xml document with labview

    Solved!

    Since it's all text, why not use a real quick Match Pattern (or Regular Expression, but you don't need that much power here), see attached.

  • Very urgent help needed- Error while passing XML document to Oracle stored

    Hi !
    I have been struggling a lot to call Oracle 9i stored procedure passing Stringbuilder object type from ASP.NET
    I am using Visual Studio 2008 Professional, OS: Windows XP and Oracle: 9.2.0.1.0
    Following is the procedure:
    CREATE or REPLACE PROCEDURE loadCompanyInfo (clobxml IN clob) IS
    -- Declare a CLOB variable
    ciXML clob;
    BEGIN
    -- Store the Purchase Order XML in the CLOB variable
    ciXML := clobxml;
    -- Insert the Purchase Order XML into an XMLType column
    INSERT INTO companyinfotbl (companyinfo) VALUES (XMLTYPE(ciXML));
    commit;
    --Handle the exceptions
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    raise_application_error(-20101, 'Exception occurred in loadCompanyInfo procedure :'||SQLERRM);
    END loadCompanyInfo ;
    And following is the ASP.net code:
    StringBuilder b = new StringBuilder();
    b.Append("<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"utf-8\" ?>");
    b.Append("<item>");
    b.Append("<price>500</price>");
    b.Append("<description>some item</description>");
    b.Append("<quantity>5</quantity>");
    b.Append("</item>");
    //Here you'll have the Xml as a string
    string myXmlString1 = b.ToString();
    //string result;
    using (OracleConnection objConn = new OracleConnection("Data Source=testdb; User ID=testuser; Password=pwd1"))
    OracleCommand objCmd = new OracleCommand();
    objCmd.Connection = objConn;
    objCmd.CommandText = "loadCompanyInfo";
    objCmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
    //OracleParameter pmyXmlString1 = new OracleParameter("pmyXmlString1", new OracleString(myXmlString1));
    objCmd.Parameters.Add("myXmlString1", OracleType.clob);
    objCmd.Parameters.Add(myXmlString1).Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
    //objCmd.Parameters.Add("result", OracleType.VarChar).Direction = ParameterDirection.Output;
    try
    objConn.Open();
    objCmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
    catch (Exception ex)
    Label1.Text = "Exception: {0}" + ex.ToString();
    objConn.Close();
    When I am trying to execute it, I am getting the following error:
    Exception: {0}System.Data.OracleClient.OracleException: ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'LOADCOMPANYINFO' ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: Statement ignored at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleConnection.CheckError(OciErrorHandle errorHandle, Int32 rc) at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleCommand.Execute(OciStatementHandle statementHandle, CommandBehavior behavior, Boolean needRowid, OciRowidDescriptor& rowidDescriptor, ArrayList& resultParameterOrdinals) at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleCommand.ExecuteNonQueryInternal(Boolean needRowid, OciRowidDescriptor& rowidDescriptor) at System.Data.OracleClient.OracleCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() at Default.Button1Click(Object sender, EventArgs e)
    I understand from this that the .net type is not the correct one, but I am not sure how to correct it. I could not find any proper example in any documentation that I came across. Most of the examples give information on how to read but not how to insert XML into Oracle table by calling Stored Procedure.
    Can you please help me to solve this problem? I hope that you can help solve this.
    Also, can you please give me an example of passing XML document XMLdocument to Oracle Stored procedure.
    In both the cases, if you can provide the working code then it would be of great help.
    Thanks,

  • Cannot unmarshal an XML document to a JavaBean without its XML Schema?

    Hi,

    E.g. to use something like this?
    @XmlAttribute ("xpath/to/attribute")Thank you in advance for your replies.

    When we register XML Schema in Oracle 9i, the schema elements of XML documents are stored as XMLType, that is, stored using object-relational storage techniques.
    For a small schema, we could build the above view manually, but for large/nested schema, if we have query to build XML documents node list, it will help us to build Relational Views on XML Content.
    How do we extract the nodes of any given XML document through O-R structures or XML DB using XML DB functions?
    Any alternate thoughts are welcome.
    I appreciate your help.

    Once again, I do not think that you can solve the problem you are trying to solve. Fundamentally you need to determine for a given element of a given complex type what are it's child elements. For each of those elements you then need to find out whether or not it in turn has child elements...
    Then you have to think about elements defined as ref rather than type, elements that are substituteable, and the rest of possibilities that can be described with XML Schema.
    If you can solve that problem you're a better man than I as the saying goes. Anyone rather than give you a fish, I'll show you how to at least put a worm on the hook..
    The following query gets the names of the elements inside a each of the global complex types
    Good luck, if you come up with a query to do this I'd love to see it...
    SQL> column COMPLEX_TYPE format A32
    SQL> column ELEMENT format A32

  • XSQL: How to embed the XML document(s) instead of posting?

    Dear all.
    I'm trying to use XSQL for a self-contained database schema setup. This setup should be able to handle DML (INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE), PL/SQL calls etc and I thought XSQL looks perfect for the job. As such, I wouldn't be using XSQL as a publishing framework but as kind of an ETL tool. The only output I would be interested in would be the xsql-status in order to check that the number of rows processed matches my expectations. I would prefer XSQL to run entirely within the database and not depend on any servlet container.
    However, it seems that XSQL's only way of obtaining the canonical XML (ROWSET/ROW) that is used by xsql:insert-request/xsql:update-request/xsql:delete-request is through HTTP POST/GET. It doesn't seem that it's possible to embed the XML directly in the page, nor does it seem possible to handle more than one XML.
    I'm trying to achieve something like this:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <page connection="scott" xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsq">
    <xsql:insert-request table="DEPT">
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW>
    <DEPTNO>-10</DEPTNO>
    <DNAME>NEW DEPT 1</DNAME>
    <LOC>COPENHAGEN</LOC>
    </ROW>
    <ROW>
    <DEPTNO>-20</DEPTNO>
    <DNAME>NEW DEPT 2</DNAME>
    <LOC>LONDON</LOC>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
    </xsql:insert-request>
    <xsql:insert-request table="EMP">
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW>
    <EMPNO>-10</EMPNO>
    <ENAME>NEW EMP 1</ENAME>
    </ROW>
    <ROW>
    <EMPNO>-20</EMPNO>
    <ENAME>NEW EMP 2</ENAME>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
    </xsql:insert-request>
    </page>
    or perhaps
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <page connection="scott" xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsq">
    <request>
    <parameters>
    <dept>
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW>
    <DEPTNO>-10</DEPTNO>
    <DNAME>NEW DEPT 1</DNAME>
    <LOC>COPENHAGEN</LOC>
    </ROW>
    <ROW>
    <DEPTNO>-20</DEPTNO>
    <DNAME>NEW DEPT 2</DNAME>
    <LOC>LONDON</LOC>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
    </dept>
    </parameters>
    </request>
    <xsql:insert-request table="DEPT" param="dept"/>
    <xsql:insert-request table="EMP" param="emp"/>
    </page>
    I need both INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE so xsql:insert-param isn't enough, would also need an xsql:update-param and xsql:delete-param.
    A way of referring to the canonical XML through an URI or XPath expression (referring to a registered XML document in the database) would also be cool.
    Perhaps implementing custom action handlers would work but not sure whether they'll be able to refer to any child XML elements within them? Furthermore, the syntax for these would also be slightly inconvenient:
    <xsql:action handler=com.ellebaek-consulting.xsql.InsertActionHandler" table="DEPT">
    My alternative would be to re-implement an extended version of XSQL (XSQLX :-)?) but I'm trying to avoid that.
    Any pointers and ideas are very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards
    Finn Ellebaek Nielsen

    Hi.
    Thanks for your reply but the article only talks about how to query data with XSQL and I need to INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE data embedded in XSQL pages into the database so I'm afraid that the article doesn't apply.
    Cheers
    Finn

  • How to Add namespace to all elements in a xml document

    Hi,
    I am trying to read an xml file that does not have any namespace definitions. I have been able to create another schema in which i specify the namespace defination as shown below.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns="http://TargetNamespace.com/AckPaymentFile_PL" targetNamespace="http://TargetNamespace.com/AckPaymentFile_PL" xmlns:nxsd="http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/nxsd" nxsd:version="DTD" elementFormDefault="qualified" attributeFormDefault="unqualified">
    <include schemaLocation="PM_XML_FILE_ACK_SCHEMA_NO_NAMESPACE.xsd"/>
    </xs:schema>
    Once i do it, i am able to see the namespace has been assigned to the root element. I am looking for a way to assign the namespace and prefix tag to all elements in the xml document. If i don't i am unable to access any part of the xml document, keep getting please verify if xpath is correct.
    Thanks
    Sridhar

    Hello,
    Once you've answered all the above.
    If you can run xpath that supports functions against the xml, the expression:
    count(//phone)Otherwise, without leaving SQL:
    select count(*) from
    xmltable('//phone' passing
      -- Your XML goes here, could be a table column with type XMLTYPE.
      xmltype('<person><phone>123-456-7890</phone><phone>098-765-4321</phone></person>')
      columns phone varchar2(24 char) path '/phone'
    ;

  • TP Agreement Not Found -- OAGIS XML document over AS2

    Hi,
    I am getting TP Agreement not found error while receiving OAGIS XML document over AS2. Below is error message.
    Agreement not found for trading partners: FromTP SOALocal, ToTP Powell with document type PROCESS_INVOICE_002-null-INBOUND
    I am not sure why it says null-INBOUND. It appears like it is not able to identify Document Version. DOCTYPE_REVISION=7.2.1 is being passed in the AS2 transport headers but still it does not recognize the version.
    I am not sure what is missing. Please give some ideas hints.
