XSL:FO Desginer

I have gotten Cocoon and Apex working together nicley and know I am just curious as to how most people are creating XSL:FO. Seems like all the visual designer are really expensive. Any body know of any good cheap or free editors/designers?

[Java 4 Less|http://www.java4less.com/fopdesigner/fodesigner.php] has an WYSIWYG (http://www.java4less.com/fopdesigner/fodesigner.php)
It is inexpensive ($65) for a single user.
It seems to me that Apache FOP should be able to use the templates and create custom output from an XML output.
My current environment is: Apex 3.1.0.00.32 on 11g using the Embedded PL/SQL gateway, using Apache FOP using OC4J container.
I think I read somewhere that custom templates can be used with Apache FOP. I am looking at the J4L designer to create the templates. My question is once the template is created, where should they be stored and how are the called or associated with a report?

Xsl:if creates unwanted newline [SOLVED]

Hi there.
I'm making a report, with some images. This works fine (it's just an image of a checkbox, base64 data..). However, when printing many lines, I only want to print the checkbox if it's actually text there.
Short explanation:
Q1 Q2
Q3 Q4
Q5
I don't want the last line (which WOULD have been Q6) to print the image aswell. (That is; I only want it to print once for the Q5)
Here's my code:

And this mess up my entire report with newline with the image.
If I use only
<fo:instream-foreign-object content-type="image/jpg"><xsl:value-of select=".//IMG"/></fo:instream-foreign-object>
then the images print exactly as I want them.
How can I get around this issue?
P.S: The if quoting is like this:
if test=(double quotes)Q_NR != (two single quotes) (double quote)

if@inlines should do the trick.

Customize Print Quote stylesheet ASOPRINT.xsl

Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to check if we can use the existing Print Quote functionality to generate custom Quote Reports. As i see we can create new XML templates by making changes to the standard style sheet ASOPRINT.XSL. According to what is mentioned in the oracle quoting guide we can add company logo, change height width etc.. of the report by modifying this style sheet. I need to know how do we cusomize the style sheet to include static text or add new tables etc.. I am very new to XSL so do not have much idea as to where is the data fetched from and where is the static text present.

Thanks a lot for the response. I went through the documents and they mainly talk about customizing the Quote report by including the company logo, Title and disclaimer. How can we add static text to the ASOPRINT.XSl style sheet in order to customize it and attach it to a custom tempalate. I am very new to this so do not have much idea. can we add the static test directly in the style sheet or is it fetched from somewhere?

NOTE: I think Oracle is a fantastic database and the XML implementation is lovely to use - also I know these are not limited to XE and also that some are fixed in 11g enterprise however I'm not sure if all are so I am posting here in the hope that Oracle will include fixes for all if any have been missed
1. getclobval() returns a spurious carriage return on end of the value returned
2. extract does not handle mixed content tags well (for example it simply discards tags that only have whitespace between them
3. XSL: using a xsl:number level="multiple" with anything beyond a simple count= xpath value crashes the database completely
4. XSL: insists on pretty printing output XML which is extremely odd behaviour and causes problems when dealing with mixed content

Another weakness I've seen is with the appendchildxml function and mixed content xml - it appears to likewise pretty print XML causing the injection of carriage returns and whitespace into mixed content nodes

I use ABAP-XSL mapping to insert records in Oracle table. My Sender is File and receiver is JDBC. We use Oracle 10g database. All fields in table are VARCHAR2 except one field; this is having type 'DATE'.
I use Stored procedure to update the records in table. I have converted my string into date using the Oracle TO_DATE function. But, when I use this format, it throws an error in the Receiver CC. (But, the message is processed successfully in SXMB_MONI).
The input format I formed like below:

Value in Payload is like below.

in my Abap XSL. But, its not working correctly. The problem is 'href' function to import "date.xsl" in my XSLT is not able to do that. The system throws an error. Moreover, it is not able to write the command 'extension-element-prefixes' in my <xsl:stylesheet namespace>
May be I am not able to understand how to use this.
Anyway, I solved this problem by handling date conversion inside Oracle Stored Procedure. Now, its working fine.

GenericSortFilter.xsl unable to filter data in inline transformation.

    I am working on MII 12.0
    I need to filter an xml output of transaction. So I am using the inline transformation.
    I am passing filter column name, filter column value, filter exp and filter type.
    But the data is not getting filtered.
    When I am applying inline transformation for sorting, the data is getting sorted.
    When I apply generic sort filter action block in transaction to filter the data, itu2019s getting     filtered.
    Need help on this.

    We can use generic sort filter in BLS.
    But MII has provided XLS transformation facility.
I checked the xsl file used in genericsortfilter case.
A code fragment is below

I'm trying to find out how to create a complex report in APEX for printing. The report contains multiple queries in different layout, images and static text.
I don't have the possibility to use BI Publisher and I'm not an XSL-FO expert. However I'm trying to find out if it's possible at all not using BI Publisher.
I'm having the impression that multiple report queries and layouts in APEX can only be used in combination with BI Publisher. I'd be glad if someone could give me an example of how to do multiple queries and layout in a single report only using XSL-FO.

Need help with text() processing in XSL

I have an xml that contains such text in my xml:

and an xsl that transforms it to HTML (a cut for xsl):

but I need: before inside after
It seems it happens 'cause of this: http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt#conflict
but I cannot find a way to solve this problem :(
I had tried to use priority in xsl:template, but it didn't help :(

Problem creating dynamic URI for importing xsl sub templates in rtf

We are using xsl based sub templates in RTF. My code in RTF to import sub template is

This sub template import statement is used in lot of RTF's. We require to configure host,port name in server run time properties and will get the value in RTF and will construct URI dynamically ,So we put one property in xdo.cfg.
xdo.cfg contains as below

Please note that : I am able to print HTTP run time variable value in report by <?$HTTP?> adding in Form Field text.
I have installed BI publisher 10.1.3.4.1 (xmlpserver) in weblogic 10.3.5
Please guide us on this above problem.

The problem got resolved when we tried same thing in BI publisher 10.1.3.4.2 (xmlpserver) in weblogic 10.3.5. It seems that BI publisher 10.1.3.4.1 does not have dynamic URI support.

How to specify relative path for background image in xsl

Hi,
I am generating a PDF from Apcahe FOP. I have an xsl for that, in the xsl fo:block I am displaying a background image. When the image path is absolute like..C:\image\logo.png it works fine. But I want to have the image in my WebContent\images folder and my xsl file is in WebContent\xsls folder. So when I try giving the relative path as ../images/logo.png, the image is not displayed.
Can anyone tell how to do this???

has been given as absolute. The images folder is in my WebContent directory. I want this path to be relative to the context of my application , something like background-image="url('../images/table_header_center.png')".

I want to use common xsl file in RTF template. I will hardcode the path of the xsl file. Path should be relative path. Can anyone tell me how can I import xsl file into RTF template using relative path. e.g relative path may be BIP web cerver path. I am using BIP 10.1.3.3.2. I am able to access system variable CURRENT_SERVER URL.
Steps:

CURRENT_SERVER_URL is getting printed in BI Publisher. Value displayed is http://xx4697.xxx.co.in:9704/xmlpserver.
Now we are importing xsl into RTF template. File aaa.xsl is stored at [BIP_Installation_Directory\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\default-web-app]
We have hardcoded the path for XSL in RTF. The path is <?import: http://xx4697.xxx.co.in:9704/aaa.xsl?>
As we want to set dynamic path we changed hardcoded xsl path to <?import: {$CURRENT_SERVER_URL}/../aaa.xsl?> but it is not working. Sometimes BIP is taking local path of MyDocuments folder and sometimes Desktop path. If I put that XSL file in MyDocuments folder or Desktop, it is working fine. But ideally it should refer [BIP_Installation_Directory\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\default-web-app] path.

VerifyError trying intantiate the oracles TransformerFactory for XSL

When I try intantiating the Oracle4s TransformerFactory, I obtain a verifyError, next is the error message.
(class: oracle/xml/jaxp/JXSAXTransformerFactory, method: reportConfigException signature: (Ljava/lang/Exception;IILjavax/xml/transform/SourceLocator;)V) Incompatible object argument for function call
This occurs, setting the environment variable "javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory" to values null and "oracle.xml.jaxp.JXSAXTransformerFactory";
With this error it4s imposible process any xml with an xsl file.

It is the content of the "type" attribute of the "xml-stylesheet" processing instruction that leads to a null return value. W3C says the following at http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt20/#xslt-mime-definition :
There is no experimental, vendor specific, or personal tree predecessor to "application/xslt+xml", reflecting the fact that no applications currently recognize it. This new type is being registered in order to allow for the expected deployment of XSLT 2.0 on the World Wide Web, as a first class XML application.
So, for the time being, you should use the good old "text/xsl" in place of "application/xslt+xml".
