XSLT pmd.xml - html

I needed to have this, but couldn't find anything that allowed me to do it quickly. I'm not using Maven.
After scouring the web for a general solution for PMD I came across an xslt file, which I modified to better represent FlexPMD (there are subtle differences). Ignore the fact that I'm executing the command-line jar from this build script. All that matters is that the pmd.xml file get generated.
  <target name="analyzeCode">
    <exec executable="java">
      <arg line="-Xmx256m" />
      <arg line="-jar /dev/tools/flexpmd/flex-pmd-command-line-1.0.Rc4.jar" />
      <arg line="-s src/" />
      <arg line="-o reports/pmd/" />
    </exec>
    <xslt in="reports/pmd/pmd.xml" style="/dev/tools/flexpmd/flex-pmd-report.xslt" out="reports/pmd/pmd.html" />
  </target>
This is just an example. Obviously the locations of the xslt and jar files will need to be different.
Thanks for this tool. These things are very welcome and incredibly appreciated. Take care.

This was exactly what I was looking for.
Great ideia!
I have to thank you again for sharing this with us.

  • Question about Java,XSLT and XML

    I am new to Java and XML. I'm not quite clear the relationship between Java,XSLT and XML.
    To exercise, I am going to write a Java program that makes embedded calls to an XSLT processor(XALAN), to produce results for several constrained transformations from a given XML document(x.xml) such as:
    1.Transform the x.xml (which satisfies d1.dtd) in such a way that it now conforms to the DTD d2.dtd. Output the resulting xx.xml document.
    2.query some information from the x.xml and then form an Html output.
    3.summary some information, do some statistics from the x.xml and then form an Html output.
    I don't konw which java classes and XSLT functions might be used.(Actually I don't know how/where to start).
    Can anyone give me some clue ?
    thanks a lot!

    You must provide XSLT stylesheeds to specify transformations (1), (2),
    and (3); let's call those stylesheets task1.xsl and so on.
    The following code will transform x.xml into xx.xml according to task1.xsl. It gives you an idea which packages and classes to use, but it doesn't teach you proper Java programming technics :)
    import java.io.File;
    import javax.xml.transform.*;
    import javax.xml.transform.stream.*;
    public class Test
        public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception
            TransformerFactory factory = TransformerFactory.newInstance();
            Source config = new StreamSource(new File("task1.xsl"));
            Transformer transformer = factory.newTransformer(config);
            Source source = new StreamSource(new File("x.xml"));
            Result result = new StreamResult(new File("xx.xml"));
            transformer.transform(source, result);
    }To read about XSLT, see:

  • How to apply XSLT to XML file while importing XML data using XSU plsql API

    I need to load XML file with nested repeating elements into Oracle tables and I am using XSU PLSQL API utility package dbms_xmlSave.insertXML. Can use XMLGen package also!!
    I found out through documentation that I need to have XML file with ROWSET/ROW tags around the elements. As I have no control of XML file coming from external source, so I wish to apply XSLT to XML. I found setXSLT/setStylesheet procedures but it's not working as expected.
    Can you help me with some sample code for the purpose.
    Thanks

  • TRADACOM------ XML------ HTML------- Mail

    Hi,
    My scenario is TRADACOM---->XML--> HTML----->Mail.
    Using SEE BURGER's AS2 adapter I can convert TRADACOM to XML..........
    Could anyone pls help me in converting the XML to HTML and send the html content in the body part of mail using mail adapter?
    I have a very short span (less that a week) of time to deliver the interface.
    <i><b>KINDLY HELP ME</b>.</i>

    Hi,
    There are standard converters to convert XML to HTML. They are available in the market or with your organisation. It is a separate software tool and has nothing to do with SAP tool.
    Thereafter, HTML can be attached to the body part of mail. That is a standard functionality in SAP.

  • JWS, Applet, and XML / HTML Client

    Hi all,
    I just went through the article which gives companrison of different types of web clients. Here is the URL
    http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-07-2001/jw-0706-webstart.html
    Can anyone explain me how we can use Applet with JWS. When we use it, is my applet is going to be downloaded to client and run with full security permissions??
    What major advantages and changes we might have to do if we are using JSP/XML/HTML web client. ( ofcourse not in the table which is present in the above URL ).
    Thanks for the time.
    L G Goundalkar

    As my article at http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Programming/jnlp/ states, programs run through Java Web Start do NOT have full security permissions.
    As far as applets go, in the descriptor file, you need to use applet-desc instead of application-desc. This is described in the Java Web Start Developer's Guide.
    JSP/XML/HTML is not a rich client interface.

  • How does example field get populated in the results (pmd.xml) file ?

    How does the <example> element in the rulepack file, get populated in the pmd.xml file ?

    Hi,
    The example field does not get populated and won't be for two reasons:
    - The Xpmd products don't do it and we want to keep the same XML schema than the others so that FlexPMD reports remain compatible with third party tools (like the PMD Hudson plugin, and XSL script)
    - That would have a high impact on the report size. Imagine that you have 2000+ violations in your report...
    That being said, it will be possible to retrieve the example section from the Flash Builder plugin in the outline view.

  • XSLT Transform XML 2 HTML does not work well

    Hi,
    This is my first attempt to use XSLT to convert my XML file into HTML using Java. I have included below the java code I used for the transformation, the xsl file and the xml file.
    As per the xml file, I would like to display the carrier's common-name for each host. However, I can only get to display the carrier-id using the code line
    <xsl:value-of select="./@carrier"/>
    as shown in the last part of the xsl file, but cannot get the carrier's commonname from the carrierid using the code,
    <xsl:variable name="hostCarr" select="./@carrier"/>
    <xsl:variable name="hostcomName" select="id($hostCarr)/common-name"/>
    <xsl:value-of select="$hostcomName"/>
    However this works well if I were to use XML SPY for the conversion, instead of the Transform class in Java. I am using version 1.4.1 of Java.
    Please help.

    From Michael Kay's book "XSLT Programmer's Reference":
    'A non-validating XML parser isn't required to read attribute definitions from an external DTD. In this situation the XSLT processor will assume there are no ID attributes present, and the id() function will always return an empty result."
    Presumably you didn't set your transformer to use a validating parser, and I don't even see a reference to a DTD there. However the expression id('X') is equivalent to //*[@id='X'], Kay goes on to say. Try that instead.

  • How can I make my XSLT processor accept html code ?

    In my applications the Oracle xslt processor wont accept simple HTML tags within an XML source while transforming the source into HTML. Both processors either will throw parser exceptions or ignore the HTML code in the XML source completely, though output-escaping is explicitly enabled.
    In detail, I want to transform an XML source like this...
    <element>
    Hello, this is a <b>XML</b> text source mingled with htmlTM
    </element>
    ... with an XSL Stylesheet like this...
    <xsl:stylesheet>
    <xsl:output method=html cdata-sections=element/>
    <xsl:template match=element>
    <html>
    <body>
    <xsl:value-of select=. output-escaping=yes/>
    </body>
    </html>
    </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    ... which should result in a HTML code like this ...
    <html>
    <body>
    Hello, this is a <b>XML</b> text source mingled with htmlTM
    </body>
    </html>
    The result, however, is always like this:
    <html>
    <body>
    Hello, this is a XML text source mingled with htmlTM
    </body>
    </html>
    This means that the additional HTML tags inside the XML source have been completely ignored by the XSLT processor though I enabled the output-escaping.
    If anybody should think now that mingling HTML with XML text is stupid because I could also format the result with the XSL Stylesheet itself, he might be right, of course, but: I cant avoid this because in my application the XML source results from a users web form entry. The user working with the form must be able to decide whether he wants to include HTML in his text or not. In any case, any HTML code he enters should just be transported WITHOUT ANY CHANGES to the resulting HTML page, not omitted without comments! It seems quite simple to me, but the XSLT processor doesnt want to agree with me in this point :-(
    So, once again in brief: Is there any possibility to tell my XSLT processor not to parse, transform or manipulate HTML tags, but to transport them unchanged to the output ?
    After weeks of research any helping sign would be a great relief...
    Many thanks in advance.

    I don't understand the answer, can you please expand. I am trying to do a similar thing by creating an output buffer,
    assemble a mix of text and html tags and then output this buffer later. All of the html tags are skipped or re-escaped in the final html:
    In this example I want to print the IPRCROP, then add an html break (<br>).
    Example 1. Use xsl:text with escape = yes
    <xsl:variable name="buffy">
    <xsl:for-each select="documents/document">
    <xsl:value-of select="IPRCROP"/>
    <xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes">&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;</xsl:text>
    </xsl:for-each>
    </xsl:variable>
    <xsl:value-of select="$buffy"/>
    In this case the <br> and </br> end up re-escaped in the output html as #60 etc. so they appear literally as
    ALFALFA <br> BARLEY <br>
    and in source as: ALFALFA&#60; br &gt; &#60; /br &gt;BARLEY
    Example 2, try as pure text, it just skips the <br></br> altogether
    <xsl:variable name="buffy">
    <xsl:for-each select="documents/document">
    <xsl:value-of select="IPRCROP"/>
    <xsl:text><br></br></xsl:text>
    </xsl:for-each>
    </xsl:variable>
    <xsl:value-of select="$buffy"/>
    output = ALFALFABARLEY

  • How can I export a stylesheet (either CSS or XSLT) with XML from indesign?

    Hi,
    I am using indesign CS4. I want to export style sheet whether it is CSS or XSLT file with xml.
    I try to get it but can't.
    Also the XML i am exporting does not styles that has been applied by me while creating the file in Indesign.
    Please help me out by telling me the way how can i get a stylesheet and also how can I embed that style sheet with XML so that my XML file looks similiar to the indesign file.
    Thanks,
    Choudhary Nafees Ahmed

    I am using indesign CS4. I want to export style sheet whether it is CSS or XSLT file with xml.
    CSS is not an XML style sheet, it's an HTML style sheet. "Export to HTML" will export an empty stylesheet for the paragraph and character styles. ID cannot convert its (very advanced) typographic capabilities to the (very limited) CSS notation, and thus it defaults to exporting the names only.
    XSLT is not an XML style sheet either; it's a transformation format (http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt).
    I try to get it but can't.
    Also the XML i am exporting does not styles that has been applied by me while creating the file in Indesign.
    XML Export does not export anything except the items you tagged with the Auto-tag feature, or you tagged yourself. If you need your styles tagged, use Map Styles to Tags (http://www.adobe.com/accessibility/products/indesign/mapping.html).
    XML has almost nothing to do with styling -- ideally, XML describes document structure while styles describe formatting.

    The address data seems to be located under a single item <s.addressLine> rather than <address1>, <address2> <address3> <address4> as in the previous setup.  As a consequence of this I am unable to split out my address data into seperate address fields (in column 2 below).  The code below ....
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:atom="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom" xmlns:s="http://syndication.nhschoices.nhs.uk/services">

    Thanks dvohra
    But in my servlet, I already have the transformer factory defined as follows
    public class JDOMServlet extends HttpServlet {
         private TransformerFactory tFactory = TransformerFactory.newInstance();
         private ResultSet rs = null;
         private StreamSource xsltSource;
         private Templates template;
         public void init(ServletConfig config) throws ServletException {
              super.init(config);
              ServletContext ctx = config.getServletContext();
              try {
                   //Want to cache the stylesheet for future resuse
                   //then it doesnt have to be loaded constantly
                   URL xslURL = ctx.getResource("/WEB-INF/viewStudentDetails.xsl");
                   System.out.println(xslURL);
                   xsltSource = new StreamSource(new java.net.URL(xslURL.toString()).openStream());
                   //xsltSource = new StreamSource(ctx.getResourceAsStream("/Web-inf/viewStudentDetails.xsl"));
                   template = tFactory.newTemplates(xsltSource);
              catch (Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
    I think the key point is that, this transformation servlet worked fine, when all it was outputting was the xml data, styled in a table. As soon as I enter more table info, (i.e. for the banner and navigation bar), the null pointer exception pops up.
    ....a lost and puzzled jase....
    Thanks again.

  • XSLT, problem with HTML

    Hi,
    I am using XSLT to generate a webpage using an XML file and a stylesheet. The HTML page is created fine however any HTML tag i.e. the break line tag comes out in the file as &lt.;BR&gt.; rather then <.BR.> (ignore the dots, just there so the form doesnt show them incorrectly). Any suggestions? Here is my code:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" standalone="yes"?><transcript xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="transcript-internal.xsd" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">

    Your 1,000 lines of code were indented so deeply that they scrolled off the right side of my screen and were extremely inconvenient to read. So I didn't read it.
    However. Your question claimed to be about XSLT but I didn't see any XSLT posted. That was sort of strange. Anyway, if you are generating character strings containing <BR> then what you see is what you have to expect. If you want a <BR> element then generate a <BR> element. Like the one you see in the XML example you posted. (What was the relevance of that example, anyway? I didn't get that either. Was it supposed to represent the input you hoped that code was generating, or something?)

  • XSLT dynamic XML data serverSide. NO External XML file

    I am developing a web application currently using Tomcat 3.2.4, latest Xereces and Xalan.
    I have a JSP page that 1st includes a HTML menu, I then wish to include a JSP page that will produce XML data. I would like to apply an XSLT to this XML data serverSide.. All of the solutions I have seen to date refer to a static XML file.. whereas the data in my XML structure is dynamic..
    If anyone could please lend a hand it would be greatly appretiated.
    Evan.

    Sample code for transforming xmlstring
    public String transformXML(String xmlString, String screenName) {
    Document document;
    DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    StringWriter stw = new StringWriter();
    try {
    //File stylesheet = new File(uc.getXSLName(screenName));
    File stylesheet = null;
    DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
    document = builder.parse(new InputSource(new StringReader(xmlString)));
    StreamSource stylesource = new StreamSource(stylesheet);
    StreamResult result = new StreamResult(stw);
    result.setWriter(stw);
    DOMSource source = new DOMSource(document);
    // Use a Transformer for output
    TransformerFactory tFactory = TransformerFactory.newInstance();
    Transformer transformer = tFactory.newTransformer(stylesource);
    transformer.transform(source, result);
    return stw.toString();
    catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println(e);
    return null;
    }

  • Using Custom XSLT File for html output file

    Hi all
    I have probably rather a silly question but I have not found a solution yet.
    I would like to use a custom XSLT file, which I already have and is working, within a Biztalk Map. The custom XSLT is generating a html file out of an xml file. However I'm not able to succeed so far because I have probably some issues in defining the correct
    target schema.
    The output that I get at the moment is just a duplicate of the input, probably because I have used the schema for source and target.
    So my question is, how do I create a html file out of an xml with a custom XSLT file?
    Sorry if this is a nooby question but I couldn't find an answer.

    Hi Jerome,
    Sorry, your question is not very clear. "I would like to use a custom XSLT file, which I already have and is working, within a BizTalk Map. The custom XSLT is generating a html file out of an xml file" -  You have an XSLT which you use for map and how
    its generating a HTML file? Are you using something like this?
    Changing an XML Response to an HTML output using a Map
    If your requirement is to output the html file from the received XML file using XSLT, then use a custom pipeline at send port like XSLT Transform Component and provide the XST which would change the XML to HTML. Here is an example of an XST which I have
    used in the past, which converts the received OrderResponse XML to nicely formatted HTML.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

  • XSLT Mapping : XML to Fixed Length File

    Hi,
    I have to code a XSLT mapping which converts the XML into a Fixed Length File Format. I am getting the output but it has some garbage values (Some extra spaces in front of first record and also extra blank lines before the first record)
    I am pasting my xsl sheet :
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
         <xsl:output method="text" indent="yes" media-type="text/plain"/>
         <xsl:template match="Employees">
              <xsl:for-each select="Employee">
                   <xsl:value-of select="Name"/>
                   <xsl:value-of select="ID"/>
                   <xsl:value-of select="ADD"/>
                   <xsl:text>&#xA;</xsl:text>
              </xsl:for-each>
         </xsl:template>
    My input XML file is as follows:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <p1:Test02 xmlns:p1="http://www.infosys.com/xi/training/hyd/66289">
            <Employees>
              <Employee>
                 <Name>Anurag</Name>
                 <ID>1121</ID>
                 <ADD>Hyderabad</ADD>
             </Employee>
             <Employee>
                 <Name>Divya</Name>
                 <ID>1122</ID>
                 <ADD>Hyderabad</ADD>
             </Employee>
             <Employee>
                 <Name>Rasmi</Name>
                 <ID>1123</ID>
                 <ADD>Bangalore</ADD>
                </Employee>
         </Employees>
    </p1:Test02>
    And the output i am receiving is as follows:
        Anurag1121Hyderabad
    Divya1122Hyderabad
    Rasmi1123Bangalore
    Please do help.....

    hi,
    >>>>
    <xsl:output method="text" indent="yes" media-type="text/plain"/>
    you allow the spaces by using indent="yes"
    try with indent="no"
