Youtube videos not playing on standalone Safari browser iOS 8

I have a very strange problem with an embedded youtube player on a web app, I am working on. The web app is "mobile capable" so when saved on a user homescreen, it opens up in a chromeless safari browser.
So here is my issue:
The YouTube player is embedded on one of the pages in the web app using an iframe, and when the "play" button is clicked and the app is open in the chromeless safari window, the video loads forever and never plays....however when this scenario is replicated in the regular safari browser everything works fine.
This started happening only after the iOS 8 update. This is happening on an iPhone 5 running iOS 8, and it previously worked fine on the same iPhone 5 under iOS 7. Additionally,  I tested the app on an iPhone 5c running iOS 7, and an iPad Air running iOS 7 and everything works fine.
Side Note: I even changed the implementation to embed using an object instead of an iframe, and the same problem occurs with either one.

This is a significant problem if Apple is going to allow developers to deploy web applications that can be saved as a chromless web app.
My question is, who is responsible for fixing this issue? is this something YouTube needs to address? or Apple?
looking at the error console I am not able to troubleshoot the issue as I am not able to see any errors firing when attempting to play an embedded player.
i believe this issue may also be effecting other html5 code as well on other sites.
Apple PLEASE respond.

  • Youtube videos not showing up on safari

When I go on youtube the videos aren't playing. Instead there is a black screen and a message came up saying that a script could not be run. Now, nothing is still working please help.

    HI,
You may have an outdated version of the Flash Plugin which you need for YouTube. Uninstall then reinstall a new copy of the Flash Player plugin.
    Uninstall Flash
    Install Flash
Relaunch Safari. If you still have problems viewing streamed Flash content on YouTube...
Go to Safari/Preferences and select the Security tab. For Web content: Selec the top three boxes.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem.
Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Since you are running Snow Leopard, make sure Safari is opening in 32-bit mode, not 64. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) *make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.*

Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db" to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safari.

  • YouTube videos not playing in either IE or Chrome

As of this morning, most YouTube videos are not playing. After the advertisement (which always plays properly), the player goes black with no controls. Right-clicking shows "Movie not loaded".
This happens in both IE10 and Chrome on Windows 7 64-bit (I'm using 32-bit browsers.)
I have followed the instructions in several other threads here. Flash has been uninstalled completely and reinstalled. (Current version 11.8.800.168). Browser, Flash, and Macromedia caches have all been deleted and hardware acceleration disabled. Add-ons/plug-ins/Active X have been variously disabled and enabled. The https hack likewise does nothing.
    What is going on?

My first guess would be that something is interfering with Flash from loading the content properly.  I would look at your antivirus/firewall software to start.  An easy way to test this would be to start your computer in safe mode with networking enabled.  This should stop all third party services from running.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mo de=windows-7
If Flash starts working, the next step would be determine what else is being loaded on your computer that might be interfering.

  • Why are YouTube videos not loading properly on Safari?

YouTube videos on Safari are not loading properly.  It is as if the YouTube viewing window loads right-justified on the screen. Which ends up being like almost a perfect square on the screen, with the unfortunate result that part of the video is truncated at the right.  The same exact video on Chrome loads just fine.
I've just updated Flash and the problem persists.
    Here's a screenshot.
The right part of the image shows a "Google 414 That's an Error" along with the description "The requested URL/adi/N8380.280090.ACCORDANTMEDIA/B7762596.101545485... is too large to process. That’s all we know."
Is anyone else having the same issue?

    Hi Carlos ...
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Back to Safari. Press Command + Option + E to empty the Safari cache.
Quit and relaunch Safari, try a video.
And make Allow all other plug-ins is selected in Safari > Preferences > Security
Command ,  (comma) will open the Safari preferences pane for you, or from your Safari menu click Safari > Preferences
If nothing above helped, try troubleshooting Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

  • Youtube videos not playing.

Since updating to Firefox 5 I can no longer play Youtube videos. I get a black box with no audio or video. Youtube does work on Safari. I've updated Adobe Flash, with no improvement.

I think it's the flash player in general as I get problems on other sites, and it's only when flash is involved. Strangely on youtube i get no problems in 720p and 1080p, if I'm watching something in 480p or less and I change something on the player, like pause etc, it will just hang. The sound will continue but the video will freeze. It will also completely lock up Firefox until the video ends. This happened soon after I updated to FF5. I'm betting Adobe is to blame.
Chrome works fine, downloading the videos and watching them in something like VLC is fine.
What gets me is that it seems everyone is getting different problems. I'm not getting this black box problem.

  • Video not playing correctly in Safari

    Hi there
I am having problems viewing embedded video streams in Safari (6.0.4). The video will play ok for a second or two then breaks up into vertical lines (see picture below) with the video's audio playing back ok. I have loaded the same pages using the Chrome browser and the video will playback ok without any issues so that narrows it down to be a problem within Safari.
I know the simple answer is to switch to Chrome as my main browser but tbh I really don't like Chrome very much and would prefer to use Safari as my main browser.
Any help solving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

  • Embedded youtube videos not playing

Running Windows 64bit with Internet Explorer 10 and Flash version 11.6.602.171
    Youtube, Facebook no problems.
I think the videos are embedded with the new iframe only and do not play.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

For the life of me, I cannot find the settings on this version of Flash.
I have the Flash Player Settings Manager, but no Global Storage Manager.
    As for the sites
    Direct links:
    http://www.youtube.com/embed/5UgBCU5XUbI?rel=0
    http://www.youtube.com/embed/maZedqk6ttY?rel=0&wmode=transparent
    Or from the sources:
    http://www.lyaintro.com/index_2.html
    http://networkmarketingpro.com/
As for Amazon videos, I have found that if I clear my cookies and run the video on a product intro like say a metal detector. I can watch it once, but if I go to another product and try to watch it's video, I get nothing but a loading bar, then go back to the first video and again, nothing but a loading bar until I clear the cookies.

  • Youtube videos not playing. e__e

I use the new firefox and the new Flash player. Youtube videos aren't working and it's pissing me off badly. I've read that flash player new update is to blame here. I don't know if it really is or not but something is going to have to give here. I get the error screen and everything I've tried doing what they ask you to do in the FAQ's. That didn't help at all just a waste of my time. If someone knows what is going on or knows how to fix this plz tell me!!!
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071?tstart=0
See that ^ IT DOESN'T DO A DAMN THING!!!!!
The video is pointless why have it on that page when your on that page to get a video to work?!?
Again if ANYONE knows why this is happening plz let me know.
Sorry for spelling and all that tried pissed and just really don't care about it XD

Did you try disabling protected mode?  or reverting back to a previous version?

  • Embedded YouTube videos not playing in Safari OS X

    Hello
Recently, I've had trouble playing embedded videos (for example on tumblr or on Laughing Squid).  I can see the space the YouTube box is meant to be in, but it's blank.  I can play them on YouTube though.  This started before the Yosemite update.
I use AdBlock but it happens whether it's on or off.  I've updated my Flash, cleared my Flash and Safari cache but to no avail.
This happens both on my MacBook Air and on my desktop, both running Yosemite and fully updated Flash etc.
Does anyone know if this is a widespread bug or if I can fix it easily?
    Thank you!

Ok, I fixed it. Go to some embedded Flash video, click to run and then right click to get Global Settings for Flash. Go into Storage and make sure you aren't blocking any data from being stored on your computer. At the very least choose the "ask me" setting. (For good measure I also went into Advanced and clicked to Delete All Data associated with Flash. But when I restored Block for data storage the videos stopped working, so that seems to be the answer.) I'd be interested to hear if this works for others.

Try installing the plugin for Adobe Flash from this URL:
    http://www.apple.com/safari/download/plugins.html
if that doesn't work, a new one may be available at adobe.com:
