Zero divide error

Dera Friends.
Please let me know a data type can be divide zero I tried f but it doesn't change. Also the syntax will be very helpful.

Hi
U have only two chances:
- Not to fill field itab-anz150 with zero: so before appending data in ITAB you have to check the value is not zero;
- To catch the error.
I don't know your problem and the mean of those fields (itab-kln1, itab-tplm, itab-anz150), so only you can know what is better to do.
Mathematicly the result of a division by zero is infinite, but I suppose "Infinite" doesn't make a sense in your case.

  • Zero divide error in my query sq01

    Hi Gurus
    I keep getting a 0 divide error in my query, I think it's because some of the invoices have 0.00 dollars amount, t
    For Contribution Margin in sq01 I wrote a formula in Calculation formula
    CONT_MARG / (MAT_PRC-FRGT_PROV + DISC_SURC+FREIGHT ) * 100
      Condition : MAT_PRC-FRGT_PROV <> 0 OR DISC_SURC+FREIGHT <> 0.
    after running the invoice I am getting an error as zero divide in the report
    Any help will be appreciated
    Thanks in Advanced

    Hi,
    Change your query like below
    define a local variable l_variable.
    l_variable = (MAT_PRC-FRGT_PROV + DISC_SURC+FREIGHT ) * 100 .
    IF l_wariable IS NOT INITIAL.
    CONT_MARG / l_variable.
    ENDIF.

  • Zero divide error in my query

    Hi Gurus
    I keep getting a 0 divide error in my query, I think it's because some of the invoices have updated for 0.00 dollars, then we've fixed them and released them to accounting but you know these crap structures, they retain each document history, so have kept the 0.00 values.
    THis is my calculation, can you see anything obviously wrong with it puleeeese.
    CONT_MARG / (MAT_PRC-FRGT_PROV+ DISC_SURC+FREIGHT ) *100
    thank u in advanced
    Piroz

    Hi,
    I would suggest to calculate the denominator first.
    A = (MAT_PRC-FRGT_PROV+ DISC_SURC+FREIGHT ) * 100
    If A > 0 then perform the other calculation of dividing the value by A.
    This should solve problem.

  • Interpration of DBVerify zero block  errors

    Hello Oracle-experts,
    after DBVerify check on my Oracle DB 10.2.0.2 i get the several following errors:
    Completely zero block found during dbv:
    Page 286685 is marked corrupt
    After these warnings I get the error:
    BR0398E DBVERIFY detected corrupted blocks in /oracle/<sid>/sapdata4/sr3_8/sr3.data8
    Question:
    1) How should these zero block errors be interpreted?  Is my database therefore corrupt or can these errors be neglected?  If not, what is the approach to solve these errors?
    The problem is that I have a lot of these errors and do not have a valid backup.
    Any helpful information information will be very appreciated!

    Hi Holger,
    didn't you like the replies of your other threads?
    Block Corruption (BR0398E DBVERIFY detected corrupted blocks in /oracle/TS2
    BR0398E DBVERIFY detected corrupted blocks in TS SAPSR3
    Honestly, handling corruptions is really not that difficult.
    You figure out what kind of data is supposed to be stored in the corrupted blocks and take your actions accordingly.
    So if you can regenerate the content (like you can do that by rebuilding indexes), you do that.
    If you cannot regenerate the content, you need a backup.
    That's it. It's all lengthly described in the SAP notes on corruptions. Maybe you should read them ...
    > Question:
    > 1) How should these zero block errors be interpreted?  Is my database therefore corrupt or can these errors be neglected?  If not, what is the approach to solve these errors?
    > The problem is that I have a lot of these errors and do not have a valid backup.
    Ok, having no backups always puts you in dire straits. It's the single one error no DBA is allowed to make.
    However, what you should do is to perform a FULL consistency check.
    That is:
    run ANALYZE TABLE VALIDATE STRUCTURE CASCADE on ALL tables
    run a FULL db export to /dev/nul
    run DBVerify/RMAN validate on the complete database (looks like you've already done that)
    Don't skip a check, don't shortcut - just do them.
    Maybe the "completely zero filled blocks* don't belong to any object and you've no data loss.
    Then you may (as I already told you in the other thread) reorganize the tablespace to get rid of the warnings.
    If there was some data in these blocks that you cannot regenerate then you have to face it: you lost that data.
    It's gone and won't come back.
    regards,
    Lars

    Hi All,
    I using a script I found long back and I'm trying to use to get disk space info from different servers with separate credentials.
    I'm getting the below error and it has eaten my head but I'm not able to figure out where the problem lies in the code.

    Thanks,

    Hi Taher,
    You got the error "Attempted to divide by zero.", because the input variable $totSpace is null, please note the variable $item when you invoked the function writeDiskInfo:
    >>Get-WmiObject -ComputerName $Computer.Name -Class Win32_LogicalDisk -Credential $CredentialList[$Computer.Credential] |  Where-Object {$_.drivetype -eq 3}
    >>Write-Host  $item.DeviceID  $item.VolumeName $item.FreeSpace $item.Size
    >>writeDiskInfo $freeSpaceFileName $item.DeviceID $item.VolumeName $item.FreeSpace $item.Size
    And you haven't defined the variable $item before you used it, so please refer to the script below:
    foreach ($computer in $ComputerList)
    $items = Get-WmiObject -ComputerName $Computer.Name -Class Win32_LogicalDisk -Credential $CredentialList[$Computer.Credential] | Where-Object {$_.drivetype -eq 3}
    foreach($item in $items){
    Write-Host $item.DeviceID $item.VolumeName $item.FreeSpace $item.Size
    writeDiskInfo $freeSpaceFileName $item.DeviceID $item.VolumeName $item.FreeSpace $item.Size}

  • Remove leading zeros, divide by 1,000,000 and keep 2 decimals

    I have a field named PLCOST which is a varchar(15) field. It has entries that look like this:
    000000022410000
    This entry represents $22.41
    I want to convert the field to a decimal (10,2) type so it looks like this: 22.41
    To do this I need to:
    a) Remove the leading zeros
    b) Convert the entry to a number
    c) Divide the number by 1,000,000
    d) Cast the result as a decimal (10,2) type
    I know that this code will remove the leading zeros:
    SUBSTRING(PLCOST, PATINDEX('%[^0 ]%', PLCOST + ' '), LEN(PLCOST))
    But my effort to perform the other manipulations result in an error.
    I tried this:
    cast(convert(SUBSTRING(PLCOST, PATINDEX('%[^0 ]%', PLCOST + ' '), LEN(PLCOST))) /1000000 AS DECIMAL(10, 2))
    But I get an incorrect syntax error at the first instance of 'PLCOST'. (Got this info from an error checking program).
    Thanks for any help you can give with this.

    Actually this will work... Doing a replace on the zeros will kill any number that actually has a legit 0 in the value.
    declare @col varchar(20)='000000022410000'
    SELECT
    CAST(CAST(@col AS INT) / 1000000.0 AS DECIMAL(10,2))
    Casting to an INT handles the leading zeros and dividing by 1,000,000.0 allows the int to be divided and maintain the values after the decimal.

  • I would like to be able to use in my formula zero divided by zero (which is zero).  I need this in order for my P

    I would like to expand briefly on my submitted question.  I developed a spread sheet to monitor profit and loss on stocks that I trade.  My P & L column currently displays the negative value of my purchase(s).  I created a formula that includes my exit price of the stock which is zero until I sell some shares.  I would like my P & L column to show a correct value and then of course total the column.  I was able to create a formula that is mathematically correct using a variable divided by itself to give me a correct display but Numbers wouldn't allow it because sometimes that variable is equal to zero until I sell some shares of the stock and then the sell price gets plugged in.  If that variable is any number besides zero then obviously the formula will be multiplying by one (1) and that will show me a correct value in my P & L column.  Any suggestions or ideas?  Please advise.  Thanks carjam.

    0 / 0 is not defined.  It is NOT equal to zero.  it is a special case which you should avoid.  If you have questions about the details of dividing by zero refer to here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero_divided_by_zero
    you may want to perform the divide only if the dividend is not zero or maks the error using the function iferror()
    something like:
    =iferror(A1/B1, 0)
    this will attempt to divide A1 by B1 and return the result.  if there is an error then the function will return zero

  • Resolving "IOException: Underlying input stream returned zero bytes" errors

    Hi guys,
    I'm currently working on a simple application that reads GPS receiver data from a serial port using the RXTX library. However, everytime I try to read the resulting InputStream (which I convert to a BufferedReader) using readLine(), after 2 or 3 lines of reading normally, I always get the following exception:
    GPSNotifier::run(): I/O error encountered while reading from COM4

    I'm not sure how to fix this problem, since it occurs everytime I run the application. The code for opening the stream is as follows:
    // Open up the port: no problems here ...
    CommPortIdentifier comm = CommPortIdentifier.getPortIdentifier(port_name);
    CommPort port = comm.open(APP_NAME, OPEN_TIMEOUT);
    SerialPort serial_port = (SerialPort) port;
    serial_port.setSerialPortParams(PORT_BAUDRATE, PORT_DATABITS, PORT_STOPBITS, PORT_PARITY);
    BufferedReader in = BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(serial_port.getInputStream()));
    String line = null;
    // Problem is here ...
    while ((line = in.readLine()) != null) {
    }The IOException always occurs when readLine() is called. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Simon Liu

    I don't use readLine() but read()
    A bit of code:
              BufferedReader inStream = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(inputStream));
              byte ch = 0;
              char myChar;
              int charVal;
              try{
                   while((ch = (byte)inStream.read()) != -1){
                        if((ch == 13) || (ch == 10)){ //In ASCII code: 13 = Carriage return, 10 = line feed. When the GPS receiver sends those characters, the while loop must be broken to avoid an IOException
                             break;
                        }else{
                             myChar = (char)ch;
                        charVal = myChar;
                        //System.out.print("byte=" + ch +" myChar=" + myChar + " charVal=" + charVal + "\n");
                        System.out.print(myChar);

    The same interpretation happens if I do a straight import of the XDCAM into AE5.5.
    Opening AE5 and importing works as expected, so I saved the AE5 comp and opened it is AE5.5 trial.  Once it converts the project to 5.5, I receive the error message:  zero denominator converting ratio demoninators. (17::18).  Once I have clicked through several of these messages, they return when I attempt to scrub the timeline.
    Can anyone give me a steering, please, or is this a trial limitation?

  • "WRITE SAME failed. Manually zeroing." error during install or boot

    Hello everyone!
    Since the lasts kernels (I'm almost sure it happens since 3.9 because 3.8 worked fine) I can't boot on Archlinux anymore. This error floods my screen and I can't do anything, and because the new Archlinux iso (june 2013) comes with 3.9 kernel it now also happens during installation. Fortunately, I saved the may iso so I still can install archlinux and switch during install to LTS kernel but this is not a good solution. I can't find a solution online, some people have this issue but it seems to be a bit different everytime.
    I use Archlinux on a server, with hardware raid : Dell PERC H200a with LSI SAS2008 according to my BIOS. According to http://kernelnewbies.org/Linux_3.7, the WRITE SAME SCSI command "allows the same block to be efficiently replicated throughout a block range. Only a single logical block is transferred from the host and the storage device writes the same data to all blocks described by the I/O (commit)". Here is the exact configuration :
    - DELL® PowerEdge R210 II
    - 1x Intel® Xeon® E3 1220 V2
    - HDD: 2 x 1 To SATA2 RAID
    - RAID: Hardware, Dell PERC H200, (Raid 1)
    So my first problem is that I can't find online if my server is capable of this command (but I don't think so) and then the other issue is that I want to know if I can disable it. I found kernel patches for this issue :
    https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/1898441/ and https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/1982051/ (the first link seems to be a better solution).
    Then, I checked in the kernel source of 3.9 and I think that this patch isn't implemented (there is no device_write_same_capable function for instance). But kernel patching is not a really good solution, if I have to patch my kernel everytime the main kernel is updated...
    After some research, I found that my hardware RAID driver seems (I'm not sure) to be the kernel module "mpt2sas", so I checked both may and june isos of Archlinux and it's the same version (14.1) so it shouldn't be the problem.
    Does somebody can help me on this issue ? I don't really know what to do now.
    Thanks for reading, if I forgot something or if you want more informations, ask me!
    Bye.
    PS : My English isn't very good, sorry.
    EDIT : I found a part of the solution ! It seems to be an issue with the kernel that doesn't detect properly if my disc is capable of doing WRITE SAME command.
    So I have to write "0" in the file "max_write_same_blocks" under /sys. But the problem is that /sys is renewed every boot so I don't know how to make my changes permanent. I made a systemd service file, it almost works, but this solution isn't nice : the parameter is applied lately so errors shows at the beginning and this is not really easy to set up. I prefer a solution like "sysctl" but it seems that it only controls parameter under /proc/sys and not /sys, am I right ?
    Moreover, I tried two other things : Ubuntu 12.04 with kernel 3.9.4 works and Archlinux iso with 3.8.10 has max_write_same_blocks > 0 and it also works... So I don't really understand this issue. Maybe in 3.8 the parameter max_write_same_blocks has no effect (or not the same as in 3.9) ?
    Here is the systemd file that I made to reduce the issue :
    [Unit]
    Description=No WRITE SAME
    After=local-fs.target
    [Service]
    Type=oneshot
    ExecStart=/bin/sh -c 'echo 0 > /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/0000:01:00.0/host0/target0:1:0/0:1:0:0/scsi_disk/0:1:0:0/max_write_same_blocks'
    RemainAfterExit=no
    [Install]
    WantedBy=multi-user.target
    This is not a good solution, see my next post. I don't delete it in case you want to compare.

    I found a solution to disable the WRITE SAME command. That doesn't answer all my questions but it solves my issue. I was looking for a file like "sysctl.conf" but for /sys parameters : you already can do that in Arch, just create a file that ends with ".conf" in tmpfiles.d and add one line per parameter you want to modify. This file will be loaded early at boot.
    To disable it in an existing Archlinux installation, add in you file the line :
    w /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/0000:01:00.0/host0/target0:1:0/0:1:0:0/scsi_disk/0:1:0:0/max_write_same_blocks - - - - 0
    Read the manpage of tmpfiles.d if you don't understand this line, it depends on your configuration and you can't copy it.
    Then reboot and no more error !
    If you want to disable it during the Arch install, just change directly the value you want in /sys. You have to do it at the beginning before mounting partitions, for instance just after choosing your keymap.
    Bye.

  • Exporting leading zeros in error

    Hello,
    I am currently working on a problem that was uncovered in our support pack testing. we were on support pack 14 and now have upgraded to support pack 18. the users run a ALV report and would export the report to excel. the ALV report would display the line item asa 2 digit number. when they would download the report, the field would display as a 4 digit fields with three leading zeros. when you checked the excel file, the line item field would have the green triangle in the upper left corner of the cell and when you checked in green triangle, you would get " the number is stored as text". now after the upgrade, this is not happening.
    does anyone know why this was happening and if this was corrected in one of the support packs 15 thru 18?
    one of our users was using this file with the leading zeros to upload to a external database and now is having problem with the new file format
    thanks in advance for the help

    Dear Friend ,
    You can mention in the Fieldcat LZERO = 'X' for the field in fieldcatalog.
    this will solve your leading zero problem.

  • Ora-01476 divisor is equal to zero

    hi!
    ROUND(SUM(VALOR_VDA) / SUM(DECODE(QTDE_VDA,0,1,QTDE_VDA)),2)
    Oracle 10.2.0.1.0
    Red Hat Enterprise 5

    is this QTDE_VDA field numeric
    The only issues here with the decode is see is if the total value of all the rows when summed is 0 - zero then you will have zero-divide error

  • Code review tools

    Are there any code review tools for WLP 7.x

    Hi,
    You can search in SCN for related articles and blogs.
    ST05 and SE30 are tools which you can use for performance improvement. Use the tips and tricks in SE30.
    Code Inspector and Extended Program Check will help you in efficient programing.
    There are several other things which you need to follow as follows:-
    1.  Proper Naming Convention of variables for better code understanding.
    2.  Avoid nested selects.
    3.  Avoid nested loops whenever possible.
    4.  Use of SORT and BINARY SEARCH in READ statements wherever possible.
    5.  SY-SUBRC checks wherever needed.
    6.  Avoid ZERO DIVIDE errors.
    7.  Use of FOR ALL ENTRIES as needed.
    8.  Better handling of messages and exception.
    9.  Avoiding endless looping.
    These are some points. You can add more as per your knowlegde.
    Create a code review checklist document and ask your developers to follow the same.
    I can share a template if you need.
