APEX 3.0.1 on 10g XE

Hi,
Does anyone know if APEX 3.0.1 if free for use on 10g XE? I mean can I use APEX 3.0.1 on 10g XE to develop a packaged application and then distribute it together with 10g XE and APEX 3.0.1? I know 10g XE is ok, but can I distribute APEX 3.0.1?

I note that the Licensing document at http://www.oracle.com/pls/xe102/homepage does not specify the version of Application Express.
I also note that the APEX version information is not found on the XE product page http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/xe/index.html
I also note that Oracle publishes the upgrade and the upgrade steps - specifically for XE - and still does not discuss any restrictions by version.
I also note that there is no license restriction or fee required for Apex at any version based on the XE specific and the regular 10gR2 licensing doc at http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/homepage
For ME, the above is sufficient to assume that Apex 3 is included. Especially if I take a soft copy of the referenced license doc PDFs.

I have installed Oracle 10g(version 10.2.0) Database. Now I am trying to configure Application Express Apex 3.0 to it. I and following the Installation Guide provided to install Apex 3.0 on Oracle 10g. But i am facing the following issues, i am pasting the complete issues which are encountered. Please go through it and help me in configuring Apex 3.0 on Oracle 10g Database.

What I am suggesting is not the cause of the FLOWS_030000 user existing error, but could be another issue which caused your installation to fail.
In your post, you said...
This is the command i gave to configure from SQL prompt:
@D:\Apex3.0\apexins.sql <Newly Create User> <Newly Created Tablespace> <Newly Created Tablespace> TEMP /i/
You have specified an absolute path when running the apexins.sql script. In order for the installation to succeed, you must first change your working directory to the directory where you unzipped the apex_3.0.zip file and then run the script. This is because the apexins.sql script subsequently references other sql scripts, using relative paths.
You have also not included a password in your command, was this just for purposes of the posting, or could this also be an issue, as in:
@apexins password tablespace_apex tablespace_files tablespace_temp images

Export / import problem in apex 3.0.1 using 10g xe database

I developed an application on my pc using apex 3.0.1 and 10g XE database. I tried to export the application and saved it as .sql file. I want to import and install this application on my work development environment, which uses the 10g XE database and apex 3.0.1. The install was successful but when I run the application I see the login screen messed up and not functional, seems like it's missing the images and the javascript files. Can any one tell me what I am missing here, where are those files. Is there any configuration has to be done on the workspace for importing applications from a different workspace?

Look at the Application Definition page and see if the Image Prefix attribute is correct for the "work" development environment. It's usually /i/ but maybe it's different in the new environment (check existing applications there to confirm). Also, were there any application- or workspace-specific images used by the application in your "pc" environment?

Now I need to install Oracle apex 3.2 on oracle 10g enterprise edition
I did the following steps:
Step 1: I installed Oracle 10g Enterprise edition
Step 2: Installed Oracle apex 3.2 on my location Machine with the below steps again
1> SQL> CONNECT SYS as SYSDBA
2> apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/
3> @apxchpwd (Changed the admin password)
4> @apxldimg.sql SYSTEM_DRIVE:\APEX32 ( local system path)
Step 3: What is the next step, Please suggest me how to get the host name and port number I am bit confused here also suggest me is the above step which i followed is correct or not?
Earlier when i installed oracle XE i had the local host path as a shortcut to get. Here i cant find that. Please suggest me how to get the URL link to access the apex link

So if you have installed on your workstation/laptop you can simply try http://localhost:8080/apex

Sorry I'm new to all this...Is there a step-by-step in how to install APEX 3.1 to Oracle 10g other than the Installation Guide?
I'm trying to see if I'm doing the installation correct, ran the following and it gave me errors:

Printer Server configuration for APEX 3.1.2 in 10g XE

I have APEX3.1.2 installed in 10g XE and I am going thorough the OTN tutorial "[Oracle Application Express 3.0-- Building a Functional Application"|http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/apex/obe30/apexdev30.htm#l7] in the section "Editing Application Objects".
When I click "Print Attribute" of a page region, it displayed "{color:#ff0000}Report printing is currently not available, there is no print server configured{color}".
Can you tell me what this means and how to resolve it. All I have is APEX3.1.2 installed in 10gXE.
I have searched this forum and it seems that I have to install/configure a printer server?

Upgraded to APEX 3.0 in Oracle 10g Express, broken runtime

Hi,
I'm a newbie trying to use APEX with Oracle 10g Express on my laptop. I ran the upgrade to the latest APEX version (3.x). It seems to have worked for design-time, but the run-time has broken. I gave up trying to import samle apps, and built a simple one-page application from scratch, and got the below error after entering username/password and clicking the login button:
ERR-1777: Page 101 provided no page to branch to. Please report this error to your application administrator.

No longer a problem, I needed to successfully log on to the admin account and associate the developer user to a schema other than SYSTEM, I'm not sure why SYSTEM ended up being the default schema for the workspace during the upgrdae.

Broken image links on APEX 3.0 in Oracle 10g XE? Here's the solution

You're on Oracle 10g XE and you've just upgraded your APEX from 2.0 to 3.0. You log into APEX Admin and there's tons of broken image links. You look into the Oracle documentation for APEX and it instructs you to copy the Images folder into your htmldb directory if you're using Oracle 10g standard, etc. But you're using Oracle 10g XE and there is no Images folder anywhere to be seen!

In OracleXE these resources (Images) are stored directly in the database, using the Oracle XMLDB feature. You can access the resources and modify them directly by using the WebDAV feature of the XMLDB.
(1) With Internet Explorer, just go to File > Open > http://127.0.0.1:8080/i (check "open as webfolder")
Then, copy the contents of your apex/images folder into this webfolder. It will take about 10 minutes. When it's done, refresh your Apex 3.0 website and lo and behold! Images! :)

Apex 3 + Oracle XE + Oracle 10g

Hi
I am considering developing Apex3 applications in my local Oracle XE database, then later deploying them in a Oracle 10g database (using export/import).
Is this possible / advisable? Are there any potential problems that I should be aware of?
Can I do it the other way round? (export from 10g and import into XE)?

Many thanks for the replies... I tested and it worked well!
I asked because Apex in XE looks a bit different (different themes, the way it is integrated in the DB manager etc). Of course I could have tested before asking in here, but I wanted to know of any potential problems that could happen and would not be evident at first. But by what you said, it is safe do to it this way!

Web Server Options for APEX Installation on Oracle Database 10g

Hi. We are installation a APEX on a test server that is running Oracle Database 10g 10.2.0.4.0. As I understand it there are two Web Server Options:
1) Oracle HTTP Server (Apache)
2) Oracle Application Express Listener
Do both of these work for Oracle Database 10g 10.2.0.4.0? I thought I remember reading somewhere that only the Oracle Application Express Listener would only work with database version 11 or higher.

Installing APEX 3.1 with HTTPServer 10g (from Companion CD)

Hi everyone,
Our database is 10.2.0.1 and I installed in a seperate home the HTTPServer coming with the 10gR2 companion CD (Apache Standalone install). The default port I use is 7777 (for the welcome page). Then I installed APEX 3.1, following the directives in the installation guide.
Strangely, when it's time to configure the HTTPServer, the documentation talks only about version 9.0.3 or 11g, not the 10g version. It does mention OAS 10g, but is it the same than HTTPServer 10g standalone?
Because of this confusion, I'm unsure if we need to create a "marvel.conf" file (like we can read in the apex 2.2 doc about configuring the 10g HTTPServer as I want), or edit the "dads.conf" file.
I tried to edit the dads file and restarted the HTTPServer. When I try to connect to APEX, I get the XDB login window but it doesn't accept my admin login. After 3 tries, I get an "unauthorized" page.
Can you tell me if the Oracle XML DB HTTP Server should be at the same port than the HTTPServer? Right now, I've set the XDB HTTP server at port 8090, but like I said, the 10g HTTP Server was installed by default at 7777.
So, when I connect to http://server:8090/pls/apex or http://server:8090/pls/apex/apex_admin, I get the XDB login but that's it. Can't login. If I connect to http://server:7777/pls/apex, it's worst, I get "Service termporarily unavailable".
I read in the forums that it could be related to the "images" folder not being accessible, but I did install APEX with the alias /i/ and I did copy the images folder in the Apache folder. So, I'm at a dead end.
Do you have any suggestions? Does the 10g HTTP Server behave differently than version 9 or 11?

Hi Geostc,
XML DB HTTP Server is not required when you are using Oracle 10g. It is only required when you are using Oracle 11g. So, uninstall this component from your database, and follow the steps given in the URL below:

Is APEX a part of Oracle 10g Standard or is it an additional cost?

I have been working with 10g Express and really like the APEX server. Is this part of 10g Standard edition or is it a seperate cost?
What limitations are there on the APEX server? Only so many applications can be deployed, etc.?

It comes bundled with Standard.
I believe the limitations (if any) would be defined by your license. I'll let someone more knowledgable speak to that.

Application Express (APEX) move from 9i to 10g

I am wondering if anyone can help here, The question has two sections:
First, I need to know if there are any issues at all if I develop my APEX reports on Oracle 9i database and then deploy them on a 10g database, assuming the APEX version is the same (3.2).
Second, if I develop them using APEX 3.1 on 9i databse and deploy it on a 10 g database with APEX 3.2 assuming I am not using any of the new features on 3.2 that don't exist in 3.1.
