@apos appearing in SSRS report

Hi all,
A report which has been created via SSRS accessing an Oracle database is displaying names with apostrophes as @apos e.g.
MAXWELL-O@apos
Can anyone advise what is required to prevent this from occurring?
Thanks,
Matt

We missed this! Is it still interesting?

• Deleted computer object from SCCM console, so why is it still appearing in SSRS reports?

We recently divested about 400 computers from our network. I got a list of these computers and deleted them from both Active Directory and in the SCCM Console. I know the deletes were successful because when I search via device name in the SCCM console
they no longer show up. Yet when I run one of our inventory reports in SSRS I still see several of the devices that I deleted listed there. I thought SSRS represented a" live view" of the SCCM database. If that's true then how can a computer object
that I deleted in the console still be present in the database? Is there something I'm missing?

Okay you are saying to select from v_R_System_Valid instead of v_R_System in my query and that will automatically filter out items I removed in the console? Okay that sounds like what I want, the only problem is my query is selecting form v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.
Can I just add "_Valid" to the end of that and achieve the same result?
Update - Yeah no I tried that and it did not work. Clearly I have a very limited understanding of the SQL views. Interestingly enough Torsten I see you posted a linbk on your blog to a new Microsoft article that documents the SQL views in SCCM 2012. Looking
at it now...

• Ssrs report web service to save report as pdf throws error Soap exception unhandeled by user code

I am creating a C# web application to save an SSRS report as a pdf file on my local machine.
I added the ReportService web reference as RS2005 and ReportExecution2005 web reference as RE2005.
http://myServer/ReportServer_DEVPROJECT/ReportExecution2005.asmx?WSDL
http://myServer/ReportServer_DEVPROJECT/ReportService2005.asmx?WSDL
I created the following function SaveReport that is called on button click. My report can be accessed on the report server with the following url:
http://myServer/Reports_DEVPROJECT/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fData+Mgmt%2fSample+Letter
On the Report Manager home page the report link appears as "SAMPLE LETTER".
It is deployed in the DataMgmt folder on the Report Manager.
It uses a data source called "DS Letter" with option "Credentials stored securely in the report server"
My application gets compiled, but I get the following run time error:
Error: Soap exception unhandeled by user code. The item '/DataMgmt/Sample Letter' cannot be found. ---> Microsoft.ReportingService
s.Diagnostics.Utilities.ItemNotFoundException: The item '/DataMgmt/Sample Letter' cannot be found.
Please check my code and let me know what I can do to run this successfully. Once this is done, I would like to get help with passing a parameter (memberID) to the generate report for that member, through this application.

Hello Devster,
Thank you to post your question on TechNet forum.
After reviewing the whole post, I have a question to you. You can access the report via the link, http://myServer/Reports_DEVPROJECT/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fData+Mgmt%2fSample+Letter.
From the URL, I can see that the report is located at: /Data Mgmt/Sample Letter, instead of /DataMgmt/Sample Letter. In addition, I found that the target report is "/DataMgmt/Sample HAP Letter" instead of "/DataMgmt/Sample Letter" as the error described. I
am not sure whether you post out the correct code segment.
Please check the above things on your side, and hope it is helpful to you.

• Problem running SSRS report on SharePoint 2010 - report renders rendomly

I have an SSRS master report that contains about 30 sub-reports. These reports are deployed to SharePoint 2010 server. Per my understanding these reports run independently of Reporting Server (execute directly from the cube/database).
It appears that this master report executes for about 10 minutes and then returns a blank page for most requests. Seldom it returns the master report consisting 30 sub-reports. I have checked Report Server logs using the following query and it shows no trace.
Use ReportServer
select * from ExecutionLog3 order by TimeStart DESC
I set SharePoint 2010 logging to the lowest level and reviewed the log for the run-time of the report. This log shows that the report and sub reports are being executed, however it does not provide any significant error information. Follows a sample of what
SharePoint log contains for single sub-report execution.

I have tried running reports on IE 8, IE 9, Chrome and on multiple systems. This random behavior does not change across browsers or machines. Report is rendered for one out of 10 requests (if at all).

Hi Kenny,
Thank you for your question.
From your description, you can to move the parameter pane from right to the top in the SharePoint site, right? I am afraid this cannot be done in SQL Server 2008R2 SSRS reports on SharePoint 2010 integrated mode. And this is a know issue which you can see:http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/545893/allow-ssrs-parameter-panel-to-be-formatted
Thank you for your understanding.

• SSAS report action to pass multi-value list of dimention key values to a SSRS report parameter

This was originally posted on StackOverflow and suggested I try here as well.
I want to create a report action in an SSAS OLAP cube that generates a list of formatted values to pass into an SSRS report parameter that accepts a multi-valued parameter list. This would be applied at the
cell level in the SSAS action. I have found a solution that gets me most of the way:
How to Pass Multiple Values from an SSAS Report Drill Through Action to an SSRS Multi-Value Parameter, but not quite. The action does appear in Excel and works
if I run the action from a cell that is at or below the dimension attribute I am generating the list for, in this case,
Account Key.
Below is a link to a screen capture (unable to embed it due to lack of reputation) showing the action and dimension structure in Excel. The action works as long as I run it at the
Account Key level or below. I want to be able to run it at higher levels, such as
Account Major and still have it generate all then related Account Key values for the SSRS report parameter. Running it at the higher
Account Major level does not trigger the report to run.
Excel Action Screen Shot:
http://i.stack.imgur.com/QCGSp.png
Below is the MDX I am using to generate the value for the report parameter:
UrlEscapeFragment(
GENERATE(
DESCENDANTS(
[Account].[Account Key].CurrentMember,
[Account].[Account Key].[Account Key]
[Account].[Account Key].CURRENTMEMBER.Name,
"&rp:Account="
I am hoping that I can somehow modify the MDX above to make it return all the
Account Keys for any attribute of the Account dimension when ran from any measure cell, not just when ran at self and children of
Account Key in the pivot table.
Also, if it helps, I can execute the following MDX query on the cube and get the results I am looking for.
WITH MEMBER [Measures].[Account Key List] as
GENERATE(
DESCENDANTS([Account].[Account].CurrentMember, [Account].[Account].[Account]),
[Account].[Account].CURRENTMEMBER.NAME,
"&rp:Account=")
SELECT {[Measures].[Account Key List]} on 0,
([Account].[Account Company Number].[Account Company Number],[Account].[Account Major].[Account Major]
) on 1
FROM [Company 10 Action Demo]
Below are partial results:
10.116&rp:Account=10.116.010
10.117&rp:Account=10.117.010&rp:Account=10.117.020
10.120&rp:Account=10.120.005&rp:Account=10.120.006&rp:Account=10.120.010&rp:Account=10.120.020&rp:Account=10.120.030&rp:Account=10.120.040&rp:Account=10.120.050&rp:Account=10.120.060&rp:Account=10.120.380&rp:Account=10.120.999
10.123
Questions
Any ideas what I might need to do to get Account Key to be returned for any attribute of the
Account dimension?
Would I possibly have to alter my Account dimension in the cube to get this to work?
Thanks in advance.
Edit 1 - Adventure Works Cube Version
I was unable to get the suggested answer with the "Exists" function to work. To better demonstrate this issue, I have recreated it using the Adventure Works Cube.
I will focus on the Customer dimension, specifically the Customer and
Education attributes. I created a report action called Test Report Action. Below is the XML created for it in the cube.
<Action xsi:type="ReportAction" dwd:design-time-name="f35ad5ee-5167-4fb8-a0e0-0a74cc6e81c6">

<TargetType>Cells</TargetType>
<Target></Target>
<Type>Report</Type>
<ReportServer>SQLSERVER</ReportServer>
ReportServer?/Test Report
<ReportParameters>
<ReportParameter>

<Value>UrlEscapeFragment(
GENERATE(
EXISTING DESCENDANTS(
[Customer].[Customer].CurrentMember,
[Customer].[Customer].[Customer]
[Customer].[Customer].CURRENTMEMBER.Name,
"&rp:Customer="
)</Value>
</ReportParameter>
</ReportParameters>
<ReportFormatParameters>
<ReportFormatParameter>

<Value>Render</Value>
</ReportFormatParameter>
<ReportFormatParameter>

<Value>HTML5</Value>
</ReportFormatParameter>
</ReportFormatParameters>
</Action>
Below are the steps to re-create the issue.
Connect to the cube in Excel
Add dimension Customer -> More Fields -> Customer
Add measure Internet Sales -> Internet Sales Amount
Right-click Internet Sales Amount cell, select "Additional Actions" -> "Test Report Action" and see customer values created for URL
When the action is ran at this point with Customer, I see the values created in the URL shown message box (since there is no SSRS report server at location specified).
Now the part I'm unable to resolve
Remove the Customer dimension and add Customer -> Demographic -> Education
Right-click Internet Sales Amount cell, select "Additional Actions" -> "Test Report Action"
Nothing happens. If I ran the action on the cell next to "Bachelors", I would want it to build up all the list of all the "Customers" that make up the "Bachelors" in the
Customer dimension as part of the report parameter. If no attributes where used in the cube from the
Customer dimension for that cell, then I would like it to return "All Customers", or something similar to show that all customers are included in the aggregations.
I am not too MDX savvy, thus far. I think I need to somehow join the
Customers to Internet Sales Amount in the Generate function portion. I have tried several different combinations of the
Customer dimension and Internet Sales Amount, along with various functions to see if I could get this to work with no success. I am hoping that someone more knowledgeable the me will have a solution. If you need more details,
please ask and I will provide them.

Simon,
Thanks for you help with this. This morning I found a workaround. Below describes what that is.
What I ended up doing was getting a list of values from a degenerate dimension that I could use to pass to SSRS to get a list of transactions for a report. Below is how I did this, in relation to the Adventure Works cube using the degenerate dimension
Internet Order Details.
WITH MEMBER [Measures].[Order Param List] AS
GENERATE(
EXISTS([Internet Sales Order Details].[Sales Order Number].[Sales Order Number].Members, ,
"Internet Sales"),
[Internet Sales Order Details].[Sales Order Number].CurrentMember.Name,
"&rp:OrderNum=")
SELECT {[Measures].[Order Param List], [Measures].[Internet Sales Amount]} ON 0
,([Date].[Calendar].[Date]) ON 1
FROM [Adventure Works]
This will get a list of Sales Order Number in a text string, separated by "&rp:OrderNum=" for each measure of
Internet Sales. This would allow me to create an SSRS report to bring back detail information for each
Sales Order Number. Below are some sample results.
May 16, 2007 SO50493&rp:OrderNum=SO50494&rp:OrderNum=SO50495&rp:OrderNum=SO50496&rp:OrderNum=SO50497&rp:OrderNum=SO50498&rp:OrderNum=SO50499&rp:OrderNum=SO50500 $12,157.80
May 17, 2007 SO50501&rp:OrderNum=SO50502&rp:OrderNum=SO50503&rp:OrderNum=SO50504&rp:OrderNum=SO50505&rp:OrderNum=SO50506&rp:OrderNum=SO50507&rp:OrderNum=SO50508 $13,231.62
May 18, 2007 SO50509&rp:OrderNum=SO50510 $4,624.91
With this, I can then create a Report Action in SSRS with a Parameter Value of
UrlEscapeFragment(
GENERATE(
EXISTS([Internet Sales Order Details].[Sales Order Number].[Sales Order Number].Members, ,
"Internet Sales"),
[Internet Sales Order Details].[Sales Order Number].CurrentMember.Name,
"&rp:OrderNum=")
The way I was going about it before was flawed, as I was trying to get a list of the granular values from each dimension used to build the measure value and pass each one of those as separate parameters. I just needed to set something unique for each fact
measure transaction that represents the value and uses that in a query parameter for the SSRS report.

• Pre-Purchase Question - Deploying Crystal Report to SSRS Report Server

Our company has recently installed a SQL 2005 server for our accounting system. I had intended going down the path of using SQL Reporting Services as our reporting tool and deploying them to the builtin Report Server. However, I've been using Crystal Reports for years and find it much more user friendly for a non-programmer to use. I can actually write a report in Crystal, SSRS took me 3 days to achieve very little, I believe it requires too much SQL reporting knowledge for a beginner.
After spending many hours trawling the net looking for a solution to this problem, I found that Crystal comes as part of Visual Studio. However, I also believe the version of Visual Studio that comes with SQL2005 is the basic version, and I'd need the Pro version to get the Crystal add on.
To this end, I've downloaded the trial version of Crystal 2008 and installed it. I find I can write a report in Crystal, and then I can manually add that report to a SSRS project. When I open the Crystal Report within Visual Studio I can see all the correct Crystal toolbars and menus etc, so it would appear that the installation of Crystal for Visual Studio has integrated properly. I can then deploy that report to the Report server and see the report on the web page. However clicking to open the report then opens the full Crystal Reports application, instead of just displaying the report in the web page.
I've been unsuccessful in finding a solution to the above deployment problem. I'm seeking a solution so that my users can just see the report without Crystal itself opening up. I've been advised that there is a Crystal Report Server that I can purchase, but I don't wish to go to that expense when we already have this functionality built into our SSRS server.
Can you please advise if it's possible to deploy the Crystal report to the SSRS Report Server and then open the report within the web page without opening the full Crystal app, and if so what steps I would need to take to implement this.
If this issue can be resolved, I'll be more than happy to purchase the full Crystal 2008 package and forget SSRS as a bad idea.
Sorry to be so long winded, I wanted to be clear what the issue is. Any information /advice would be very much appreciated.

Hello Diane,
I would not know if Crystal Report can be used with SSRS but I know for sure that you can use the embedded Crystal Reports Version with comes with VS 2005 or VS 2008 to create reports and to display them in web and windows application.
We have lots of samples how to do this in our [dev community|https://boc.sdn.sap.com/].
Also, you can use [Crystal Reports 2008|https://boc.sdn.sap.com/developer/library/CR2008SDK] with MS SQL 2005.
Other products like Crystal Reports server can also use MS SQL 2005.
Please see our [supported platforms for CR 2008|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000712280&_OBJECT=011000358700000675322008E] on windows.
Hope this helps

• SSRS Report : Comma Separated Hyperlinks

Hello,
I want to display Comma Separated Hyperlinks in SSRS Report. I am not sure what should I change here to get this working.
Below is the flow of data.
1. Extracting value from the SharePoint List using SSIS Package Script component and filling data in SQL Table.
I have used this Table and created below view to stuff all these three links together.
SELECT ID, STUFF
((SELECT ', ' + BCM.BCMProgramDocument
FROM BCMProgramDocumentation BCM
WHERE BCM.Risk = R.ID FOR XML PATH('')), 1, 1, '') AS BCMDoc
FROM Risk R
which gives me below output, not sure why.
"<a href='http://yahoo.com'>YAHOO</a>", "<a href='http://gmail.com'>GMAIL</a>", "<a href='http://hotmail.com'>HOTMAIL</a>"
Then in the SSRS Reporting, I have placed a PlaceHolder with HTML View selected and gave above field value in the expression.
They are not appearing as comma separated Hyperlinks.
Can anyone please help me on this ? What are the changes required in above steps ?
Thank you,
Mittal.

Hi Mittal,
According to your description, you want to show three links together with comma separated from BCMProgramDocument column to a report table. After testing the issue in my environment, we can refer to the following steps to achieve your requirement:
Use the following query create a dataset:
select * from BCMProgramDocumentation
Click Fields in the left pane, add a Calculated Field as below:
Field Name: ID2 Field Source: 1
Drag a table to design surface, then insert the expression below in the detail row:
=JOIN(lookupset(Fields!ID2.Value,Fields!ID2.Value,Fields!BCMProgramDocument.Value,"DataSet1"),",")
Right-click the Placeholder to open Placeholder Properties, then select ‘HTML-Interpret HTML tags as styles’ as Markup type.
The following screenshot is for your reference:

• SSRS report viewer web part error only in IE not in Chrome & Safari

SSRS is setup in SP integrated mode.
I am getting this error when I click a report parameter drop down for the second time to display the list of avaliable values:
Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response
filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled. Details: Error parsing near '< !DOCTYPE html PUB'.
I researched this issue and have added the following to my SP site's web.config:
<appSettings>
<add key="aspnet: MaxHttpCollectionKeys" value="5000" />
</appSettings>
Oddly enough, I only get this error in IE not in Chrome it works fine... Any ideas on how to correct?
fyi- Drop down has <25 items I would say.

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you had some issues about the SSRS.
As you had known, this issue is caused that Microsoft security update MS11-100 limits the maximum number of form keys, files, and JSON members to 1000 in an HTTP request.
Because of this change, ASP.NET applications reject requests that have more than 1000 of these elements.
HTTP clients that make these kinds of requests will be denied, and an error message will appear in the web browser.
SSRS report filtering column were sending as HTTPCollectionKeys and that was reaching the maximum limit.
The solution is adding the MaxHttpCollectionKeys as you had did, you can try add a larger number to check whether it works, such as 9999 as below.
<appSettings>

<add key="aspnet:MaxHttpCollectionKeys" value="9999" />
</appSettings>
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/paulking/archive/2012/01/16/using-an-http-module-to-assist-in-adjusting-the-value-of-aspnet-maxhttpcollectionkeys-imposed-by-ms11-100.aspx
As this issue is related to the SSRS, you can post the issue to the SSRS forum.

• SSRS Report Report Blank Yet Generates Perfect PDF

I have a rather complicated SSRS report (basically a dashboard with multiple charts and tables) that I'm having some issues with. It generates fine in BIDS, but out on the report server is where things get weird.
On the report server it generates without throwing an error, but doesn't display anything, I just get a blank white screen. Yet I can export the report to a PDF, and in the PDF everything looks perfect (despite not having actually displayed
anything in the report manager after the report successfully runs!).
If I upload the report into our CRM 2013 app and run it, I get the generic "rsProcessingAborted" when it first runs, then if I hit "Try Again" on the error screen I get the "Invalid Argument"
error.
I set the timeouts on the queries in the .rdl to an insane 20 minutes just to rule out a timing out issue.
Anyone ever seen something like this before, a blank SSRS report that doesn't throw an error yet still generates a correct PDF?

This appears to be a Chrome browser issue and unfortunately that's the browser my company insists on using. Just ran the report via IE and it worked perfectly. Chrome just cannot render the HTML correctly on very complicated reports it seems, as all my basic
reports worked fine in Chrome. Found this thread on potential fixes in the .js files on the report server. Not sure how that is going to play with the reports in CRM:

• SSRS reports are not printing probably

when I preview my reports they look great but when I print them I get some blank pages

Hi Developer life,
According to your description, after printing the report, blank pages display in the report.
In Reporting Service, layout of items in the body should meet this requirement: Maximum Body Width=Page Width – (Left Margin + Right Margin). So please check the report page size within the print paper size.
Besides, if we add duplicated page break, for example, select both “Add a page break before” and “Add a page break after” options when we design a report, blank page could appears between pages. So please check if your page break options setting is set correctly.
In SSRS 2008 or higher, there is a Report Property ConsumeContainerWhitespace which controls whether white space in containers should be consumed when contents grow instead of preserving the minimum white space between the contents and the container. The
value is set to False by default. So in your scenario, if you are sure there is no extra blank space in your report, please set value of ConsumeContainerWhightspace to True.

• Custom code dll as a data source for an SSRS report

I'm trying to create a report which relies on using some custom code written in VB.net. I am using the custom code to access the Server Management Objects SMO API in MSSQL 2012. I am able to supply an MSSQL object name (a database table
for example)and then return a list of dependant objects using the dependency walker class (stored procedures, triggers, UDF's, other tables etc.) which rely on the parent object if you will. I am able load the results into a dataset in the custom code. My
question is how can I get that dataset to be consumed as a data source and appear in my report. I've read many articles on how to use scripts to supply values for various report property settings. I just haven't seen an example of using a dll
to supply a dataset. I am assuming it is possible. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Cheers

Hi mdmck,
According to your description, you want to create an SSRS report with custom code as data source, right?
To use custom code in Reporting Services, we need to add a reference to your custom assembly, create a new CodeGroup for your custom assembly, and then grant full trust permissions. For detail information, please refer to the following steps:
Open the report that will reference the custom assembly.
On the Report menu, click Report Properties.
In the Report Properties dialog box, click the References tab.
Under References, click the ellipsis (...) button that is next to the Assembly name column header.
In the Add References dialog box, click Browse.
Locate and then click the custom assembly. Click Open.
In the Add References dialog box, click OK.
In the Report Properties dialog box, click OK.
If the custom assembly requires more permissions than the default Execution level permissions, we need to create a new CodeGroup for your custom assembly, and then grant full trust permissions.

Hi Afans,
According to your description, you want to create a drill-down report using SQL Server Analysis Services database, right?
In this case, you need add the Year and Month fields to the column group, and set the Month column can be toogled by Year column group. I have teste it on my local environment, here is the sample query for your reference.
select [Measures].[Internet Sales Amount] on 0,
[Product].[Category].members*[Date].[Calendar].[Calendar Year].members*[Date].[Month of Year].members on 1

• Second max/min in ssrs report builder expression

I need to do conditional formatting on second max/min in an ssrs report builder table.
Can i get it in an expression ?

Hi AshishSinghal84,
Based on my understanding, you want to perform conditional formatting on the second maximum or minimum value in Report Builder.
In Reporting Services, there is no built-in function which can return second maximum value. So in this scenario, we can’t directly use expression to perform conditional formatting. However, we can get the second maximum or minimum on query level. Then insert
a column into tablix and use Lookup function to return a specific value so that we can do the conditional formatting based on this value. As we test in our local environment, to perform conditional formatting such as change the color for second maximum value
in Report Builder, we can follow the steps below:
1.Add Dataset2, apply the query below:
select max(sales)
From test
where sales < (select max(sales)
from test)
2.On report, add an Expression “=lookup(Fields!sales.Value,Fields!secondmax.Value,1,"DataSet2")”, looks like below:
3.Click [month], Properties appears on the right panel. Find Color under Font tab, click Expression, then type “=IIF(ReportItems!Textbox6.Value=1,"red","black")”.
4.Right click the third column, choose Column Visibility\Hide, click Ok.
5.Final result looks like below:
To perform conditional formatting on second minimum value, the steps are a little different from getting second maximum value. You should change the query at first step, then apply the query below:
select min(sales)
From test
where sales > (select min(sales)
from test)

• SSRS Report Returning Double Quote string from a Single Quote String

Hi, I'm getting weird thing in resultset from SSRS report when executed. When I pass parameter to a report, which passes String that has single quote value to a split function , it returns rows with double quote.
For example  following string:
'N gage, Wash 'n Curl,Murray's, Don't-B-Bald
Returns:
''N gage, Wash ''n Curl,Murray''s, Don''t-B-Bald
through SSRS report.
Here is the split function Im using in a report.
CREATE Function [dbo].[fnSplit] (
@List varchar(8000),
@Delimiter char(1)
Returns @Temp1 Table (
ItemId int Identity(1, 1) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY ,
Item varchar(8000) NULL
As
Begin
Declare @item varchar(4000),
@iPos int
Set @Delimiter = ISNULL(@Delimiter, ';' )
Set @List = RTrim(LTrim(@List))
-- check for final delimiter
If Right( @List, 1 ) <> @Delimiter -- append final delimiter
Select @List = @List + @Delimiter -- get position of first element
Select @iPos = Charindex( @Delimiter, @List, 1 )
While @iPos > 0
Begin
-- get item
Select @item = LTrim( RTrim( Substring( @List, 1, @iPos -1 ) ) )
If @@ERROR <> 0 Break -- remove item form list
Select @List = Substring( @List, @iPos + 1, Len(@List) - @iPos + 1 )
If @@ERROR <> 0 Break -- insert item
Insert @Temp1 Values( @item ) If @@ERROR <> 0 Break
-- get position pf next item
Select @iPos = Charindex( @Delimiter, @List, 1 )
If @@ERROR <> 0 Break
End
Return
End
FYI: I'm getting @List value from a table and passing it as a string to split function.
Any help would be appreciated!

• SSRS Reports taking long time to load

Hello,
Problem : SSRS Reports taking long time to load
My System environment : Visual Studio 2008 SP1 and SQL Server 2008 R2
Production Environment : Visual Studio 2008 SP1  and SQL Server 2008 R2
I have created a Parameterized report (6 parameters), it will fetch data from 1 table. table has 1 year and 6 months data, I am selecting parameters for only 1 month (about 2500 records). It is taking almost 2 minutes and 30 seconds
to load the report.
This report running efficiently in my system (report load takes only 5 to 6 seconds) but in
production it is taking 2 minutes 30 seconds.
I have checked the Execution log from production so I found the timing for
Data retrieval (approx~)       Processing (approx~)               Rendering (approx~)
10 second                                      15 sec
2 mins and 5 sec.
But Confusing point is that , if I run the same report at different time overall output time is same (approx) 2 min 30 sec but
Data retrieval (approx~)       Processing (approx~)                Rendering (approx~)
more than 1 min 15 sec
more than 1 min
so 1 question why timings are different ?
My doubts are
1) If query(procedure to retrieve the data) is the problem then it should take more time always,
2) If Report structure is problem then rendering will also take same time (long time)
for this (2nd point) I checked on blog that Rendering depends on environment structure e.g. Network bandwidth, RAM, CPU Usage , Number of users accessing same report at a time.
So I did testing of report when no other user working on any report But failed (same result output is 2 min 30 sec)
From network team I got the result is that there is no issue or overload in CPU usage or RAM also No issue in Network bandwidth.
Production Database Server and Report server are different (but in same network).
I checked that database server the SQL Server is using almost Full RAM (23 GB out of 24 GB)
I tried to allocate the memory to less amount up to 2GB (Trial solution I got from Blogs) but this on also failed.
one hint I got from colleague that , change the allocated memory setting from static memory to dynamic to SQL Server
(I guess above point is the same) I could not find that option Static and Dynamic memory setting.
I did below steps
Connected to SQL Server Instance
Right click on Instance go to properties, Go to Memory Tab
I found three options 1) Server Memory 2) Other memory 3) Section for "Configured values and Running values"
Then I tried to reduce Maximum Server memory up to 2 GB (As mentioned above)
All trials failed, this issue I could not find the roots for this issue.
Can anyone please help (it's bit urgent).

Hi UdayKGR,
According to your description, your report takes too long to load on your production environment. Right?
In this scenario, since the report runs quickly in developing environment, we initially think it supposed to be the issue on data retrieval. However, based on the information in execution log, it takes longest time on rendering part. So we suggest you optimize
the report itself to reduce the time for rendering. Please refer to the link below:
My report takes too long to render
Here is another article about overall performance optimization for Reporting Services:
