Automatically checking the subject line (AppleScript?)

Hi All
My organisation has implemented protective marking of email - basically all email must have a standard classification phrase embedded in the subject line. I have writtten an applescript which will automatically create a clean new message window in Mail with the appropriate configuration - that's easy. I want to roll this out to other Mac users also, and I want to make it robust. The problem is that if users forget to mark their email it won't get out past the server.
What I want to do is to automatically check all outgoing email (preferably sent in the usual way by hitting the Send button), to make sure the subject line is appropriately marked. If it isn't then the mail should be held up and the user should be prompted to add the required marking. I had hoped to be able to do this via a rule - check the subject line for the marking - and if absent run an applescript to add it.
Is this possible? My attempts have failed - everything seems to be geared towards incomeing or received email. Are there better ways? I have no experience developing plugins for mail - are there any templates out there?
Thanks in advance
Dave Mitchell

  • T-Bird does not spell check the subject line of an email. (v24.4.0).

    Hello,
When composing an email I have chosen to have Thunderbird 24.4.0. check for misspelled words with both underline and spell check prior to sending.
While testing I noticed that it underlined and spell checked everything except the "Subject" line.
Thunderbird will underline misspelled words in the "Subject" line but won't look for a correct word prior to sending as it does with the body of the email.
Are you aware of this and is a fix on the way?
    Thanks so much
    -v-

Absolutely NO themes or add-ons whatsoever on my system. I run the program "as is" when downloaded (v.24.4.0). I restarted in safe mode as a you suggested. I got the same results - no spell checking in the subject line. Spell check drops directly to the body of the email. Spell checked the body fine. Running WIndows 7. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled to see if that would correct the problem. It did not.

  • Javascript to pull a PDF field into the Subject line of email?

I've created a fillable PDF form using Pro X.  I'd like to program the Submit button so that once in the email portion, the subject line would automatically pull 3 specific fields from the PDF file.
Example:  After hitting "Submit"....once in the email, I'd like the Date, Vendor Name, and PO # from the PDF form to automatically pull into the Subject line.
I have to PDF the complete document and go through the Desktop Email Application on my PC.
    Thank you!

    Hello Everyone,
I am having the same issue as tlg814 with needing three fields to pull into the subject, and I followed the blue print of the code as well, but I am only getting one field to populate in the subject line.  I am using Acrobat XI. Here is my code:
    Mouse up> Run a JavaScript
    var parts = getField("SR#", "Urgency", "Ship To").value
    this.mailDoc({
    cTo: "[email protected]",
    cCc: "[email protected]",
    cSubject: parts,
cMsg: "Please create a Parts Request for the items in this email. Thanks"
Any thoughts as to why it is not pulling all three fields?
    Thanks

  • I've lost the use of predictive text in the subject line of gmail and I want to get it back

I used to be able to hit a few characters in the subject line of a gmail compose window and it would bring up past subject lines with the same characters. That doesn't work anymore. How do I get it back? I've tried changing the settings under preferences/privacy/history but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Any ideas? Thanks

    See:
*Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": "Remember search and form history"
This Gmail web page may be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from storing form data.
You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox store form data.
Note that Firefox won't auto-fill saved form data automatically when autocomplete=off is used, so you need to double-click the empty name field to get a drop-down list.

  • Pulling information from an email and pasting it into the Subject line

i have email requests coming in from project managers that are automatically created after they fill out a form.
Outlook is set up with a rule on their machines to forward the request to my art dept.
Problem is that the emails always have the name of the form as the subject line.
the email generates project info within the body. Is there a way to set up a rule that will pull the info i want from the body of the email and amend the subject line with it?
    Nick

I would like to use the
    "PROJECT NAME
    CUSTOMER REFERENCE OR SITE NAME"
(along with the information that would should have come after it)
    to become the subject line.
I read from your previous post though that scripts should run after rules, so i would need to combine
the rule i am already using into the script correct?
I am a graphic designer, working on storefronts and fascias, i only dabble with outlook so thank you
    for your time.

  • I use Go Daddy Web Mail and FireFox may be preventing me from being able to put text into the subject line when composing an email.

As the question / statement says, When in Firefox, once I've started my webmail application through Go Daddy, I can compose an entire email filling out all the required info. But, when I put the mouse over the 'Subject Line' and click, no cursor appears.
Having walked through this with Go Daddy, they are convinced that it's FireFox because we opened up their webmail with 2 other browsers and both allowed me to plug in a subject line.

    Hello Experts,
Our SmartForm needs to be sent via email, & the subject line will be the Description of smartform.
Now, I am fetching a value via code in a segement & need to pass this value to the subject line.
I know it can be declared as &V1&, but am confused as to how to frame it.
Should it be declared explicitly in the initialization?

  • When I send an email to someone it always says SPAM in the subject line. I know this because I "c.c." the message to myself and it says SPAM. How to stop this?

When I send a email to someone it always says SPAM in their subject line. I know this because I "cc" or b.c.c myself on important messages and when the "cc" or "bcc" comes back, it will say [SPAM] in front of whatever else I had written in the subject line to the intended recipient. How can I stop the word SPAM from showing up in the subject line of my own outgoing messages? I don't want the recipient delete my message thinking it is spam. Help!

Could you check whether [SPAM] appears on the subject line if you view your messages directly on the server (for example, using a webmail page in your web browser)? This will help distinguish an accusation coming from a web server vs. any spam filter you may have installed on your computer that examines the mail while Thunderbird retrieves it.

Close out of the camera app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
Then do a reset, no data loss.  Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
Then check your camera roll again.

This is usually caused by one or more bookmarks having a long title.
You can check that folder in the Library and shorten long names.

  • Meeting Organizer's Name Appears in the Subject line

I'm using outlook web access, provided by my Web-hosting provider.
I've a tricky problem, that I could not solve:
    1) Make an appointment with subject line "Test"
    2) add particpant: "[email protected]"
    3) Now he receives an invitation with the subject line: "Organizer "N N" sends you an inviation for: Test"
Is this behaviour to change, i.e. the subject should be "Test" for my friend? Now his calendar is messed up with "organizer...."
    everywhere.
Any hint to solve this problem, either client or server side, is appreciated.

    Hi,
Please check the following parameters in Exchange server side for the problematic users:
    Get-CalendarProcessing User | fl Identity,AutomateProcessing,DeleteSubject,AddOrganizerToSubject
If the AddOrganizerToSubject parameter is set to True, please run the following command to change it:
    Set-CalendarProcessing -Identity User -AddOrganizerToSubject $False
