Background colour around my website page in CSS

I want to set up a background colour around my website page. I can do this for each page individually in Page Properties but am looking for a way to do this through CSS so I can change all pages in the future. I thought I had succeeded by creating a new CSS property and applying it to the area to the side of my page, however, when I uploaded it, it was red instead of grey. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Add some css for the body tag in your stylesheet...
body {
     background-color:#000000;
This would make the <body> of each page black.
If you have already tried this, we would need to see your code to figure out why it isn't working, specifically, what in your page css or stylesheet.css is overwriting it.
Could you post a link to one of your pages?

  • How to Change background colour in the Arrange page

I find the LPX arrange page is generally rather too dark, is there a way of changing the background colour? I am sure L9 had this facility but cannot find it on LPX.

No, there (probably) isn't. You can only set the piano roll background lighter, but not the arrange background, unless this is mentioned somewhere in this thread about customizing the LP X color scheme:

  • How do I - change the background colour of the output HTML page

    Captivate 5
I am publishing my project to html, but wish to change the background colour of the html page to match the projects colour scheme.
I can find no option in Captivate to do this, and it is always output as white = <body   bgcolor="#f5f4f1">
I change the colours used within captivate and change the html colour of the borders, or the captivate project background, but this does not effect the html page when published.
    Is this possible?
At present I am having to manual amend the html to the colour of my choice.

    Hi there
Can you post a screen grab of what you are seeing? The instructions Orange_Sean provided should have done the trick for you. Even though you aren't using Borders, it still should have changed the HTML background color. Unless we have unearthed a bug or something.

  • Drop shadow affects background colour when printing to PDF

I have a diagram in AI format with drop shadows against a coloured background. When I print it from Illustrator to PDF, the background colour around the objects with drop shadows is slightly out, leading to a "blocky" effect. Also, some lines that overlap with the drop shadows are thickened.
I've embedded the diagram in a FrameMaker file and the same problem is evident when I create a PDF from FrameMaker.
The problem is partially solved by saving a copy of the file as an EPS, and embedding this in the FrameMaker document. The "blocky" effect then goes away, but there are still some overly thick lines.
Here is what the PDF image looks like:
Thanks for any light anyone can shed on this problem.

All the colours in the picture are process colours. I found the page  you refer to earlier, but it didn't seem to apply to my problem. Thanks  anyway.
I've read around the Web, and it looks as  though the problem is to do with the fact that drop shadows are a raster  effect rather than a vector one. I think this means that the areas  around the drop shadow get rendered in RGB, while the rest of the  diagram is in CMYK.
Anyhow, as I said, the problem  seems basically to have been that I wasn't using a high enough quality  set of job options for output.
I inherited these diagrams from a previous colleague, and by selecting "HQ Print with bleed marks" I get them as good as he got them, though as I said the thick lines are still there (as they were in his documents).

  • White background colour in Iframe?

    Hi everyone
I hope you are able to help me with this problem I am having:
I am working with an Iframe, where I would like the
background colour to be a specific colour, relating to the colour
    next to the Iframe.
The colour sorounding the Iframe is this #E6E3D2, the
background colour of the html-page to which I am linking in the
Iframe is the same colour, but nonetheless, the Iframe keeps
providing a white frame surrounding the content-html-page.
I have tried to make the Iframe and content.html page the
exact same width, but that just give me a vertical scroller + the
    white frame.
    This is what I mean:
    http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/GD-Klubben/Example.jpg
Are there anyone out there, who can explane to me (in very
slow and easily understanding phrases ;o)) how I can get rid of the
    annoying white background colour?

No, I haven't uploaded it anywhere yet. Not before I can
    solve the problem.

  • How to change background colour?

    Hi
I have an image with a statue and different background colours. I want to change the complete background colour around the statue in one colour for example white. I tried several times but it doesnt work. Do you have a suggestion?
    Thx
    Dom

    Hi Dom,
You've asked about a technique that many beginner Photoshop users want to learn. The challenge is that this technique requires learning a few tools and skills before you start. I would recommend the following:
    1. Learn about how to make selections. Here is an image with the blue background selected. Here's a  video about making basic selections.
    2. Learn about layers and masks and how they work. Below is the same image with the blue background hidden. This video teaches the basics about the Layers panel.
    3. Create a new background layer to replace the old one. Below is the image with a new solid white background on the layer below the original statue layer.
Once you've learned about selections and layers, try following the technique Russell Brown uses in the video below to create a simple selection of the current background and hide it by using a layer mask. Once the old background color is hidden by the layer mask, the layer beneath is revealed and it replaces the old background.
Good luck with your project! I hope this helps.

  • Change poster background colour

How do I change the background colour from blu in pages poster?

    Hi Monuka,
Which poster? I opened the high school poster and clicked on the background. The small x marks show that the object is locked. With the object selected,
    Menu > Arrange > Unlock
Open Inspector > Object Tab > Fill
You will see Image Fill > Tile.
Change this to Fill > Colour Fill
Click on the colour window in Inspector (below Colour Fill) and choose a new colour.

  • Is printing background colours webpages, printing background colours is disabled firefox 5

Firefox 5,prints page background colours even though printing background colours is disabled in page setup.

More to the point on this, I think, is that both RGB and CMYK values listed for any spot color are "best approximations" (many, perhaps most, spot colors have no good CMYK equivalent, and that would be true as well for some subset using RGB) using Pantone's unknown color space. Even in that space the probability of getting an actual match between the simulation and the true spot ink is close to zero. Using some other space makes things worse, and since there is no way to know the sapce in use at Pantone, you're kind of up the creek.
For CMYK converison you can do reasonably well by using the Ink manager to convert the spot to process and check the bok to Use Lab Values at the same time. For RGB, I have no idea how to come close, at all.

  • How can I change the background colour when working on a doc in full screen view (pages)?

Recently I have been working on docs without the distraction of having to see my desktop around my page file by using the full screen view in pages. I do find the contrast to an all black screen too harsh though and it makes my eyes more tired than seeing the clutter of my desktop around the page. Is there any way I can change the background colour?
    Any help much appreciated!

When you are in Full screen mode move the cursor up to the top to show the Format bar. Then look to the far right. There you'll see Background  and a rectangle. Click on the rectangle and change the colour.

  • Background Colour in Pages 5.0.1

Knowing how Apple likes to have everything sent electronically, and not printed, I am surprised that I can't change the background page colour of documents.
I can change the background of a word, sentence and paragraph. I can even select all the text on a page and change the background colour of that.
But there is still a white border all around this document, where the margins, headers and footers are.
    It looks really NAFF.
    Anyone got any ideas please.

Make a page size rectangle, color it and send it to the back or make it a master object.

  • Background Colour in CSS

    Hi there,
I'm creating a page in CSS and found that in selecting a
colour for a column, it only applies the colour behind where there
is actual content. After that, it reverts to the default colour of
the whole container. How can I make it so that the colour will
continue on down the page indefinitely? The reason I ask is because
the content in the neighboring box is longer and so it looks ugly
with this sudden cut off box beside it.
    Thanks very much!

How can I make it so
    > that

There really isn't a concept of 'columns' in CSS as there is
    with tables
    (ie, TD).
A CSS column is usually a DIV container. A div will ONLY be
    as high as the
    content.
This is perhaps one of the main gripes people have creating
    columnar layouts
    with CSS.
Common workarounds are to apply colors in 'layers' by
    wrapping your columns
in container divs, giving them a background color, and then
    giving your
longer columns their own background color. The catch is that
    you have to
know what the tallest column will be, and that's not always a
    given.
Another option is to make a GIF of your column colors and
    apply that as a
background to the main wrapper DIV.
Finally, there are some javascript options as well that, upon
    page load,
will determine the height of the tallest column and adjust
    the others
    accordingly.

  • I seem to have grey as a default colour for some websites, can't read the page. any ideas for curing this please?

When I visit some webpages - example www.thephonebook.bt.com - I cannot read the pages because they are grey and the info fades into the page and is unreadable. Can I change the colour of website pages or is there something else I can do or undo?

    Two suggestions.
1 This page contains some 'zap' bookmarklets.<br />
    https://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/ <br />
Note the instruction at the top on how to use them.
Pressing 'zap' on sites with grey print turns it black.
2 This addon can be used to restyle pages that you use a lot<br />
    [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108/ Stylish] <br />
It's rather technical, but setting up a style rule for this site such as <br />
    <pre>* { color: black ! important ; } </pre>
    can fix it.

  • How to change the page Header background colour in a Theme

    Hello,
I want to know how to change the page header background colour. If you are in the Editor I don't find a property where to change it.
If you are in the Theme Editor in the header bar I want to change stands <b>Theme Editor</b>. This (in my case blue colored bar) I want to change in another color.

    Hello Radhika,
thanks for your answer. Where do I find the option for the pageheader in System Administration>Portal Display>Theme Editor ->IView Trays exactly?
The pageheader is a picture, which must be uploaded for the web dynpro. Why should any webdynpro element in the ivew tray. There is no relationship between these two parts.
I have not found any option to change the web dynpro pageheader. Could there any extra theme editor for webdynpro?
    Thanks.

  • Setting a page background colour

    Hi everyone,
Im new to InDesign, and am (or at least i thought i was), in the final stages of completing a brochure (A4 landscape format) for my photography business.
The brochure Im creating is intended as both a downloadable pdf and also for viewing on screen.
    My issue is this:
Ive somehow managed to set it up so that the page background colour is black, which is what I want, as my text alternates between white and a shade of grey.
However, when I PDF this document, or try to physically print it, the pages show up as white, and so a lot of my white text does not show and the grey text looks almost invisible.
Can someone please enlighten me as to how I actually achieve what i would like to - i.e. black pages.
    Many, many thanks in advance.
    Stevieboy1970

    Thanks for your reply.
I figured that would be the way to go. Though I'm getting a glitch when using image gallery widgets where the background colour flashes white when zooming on an image on the final ipad book. The background fade effect when zooming is set by default to start from white I presume. Hope they fix that soon.
