BW Portal Queries

Good day,
We are busy implementing BW queries for the SAP portal, we are trying to implement are the cockpit, 0COCKPIT_0_1, which consists of the following queries; Headcount, Headcount FTE, Entries, and Leavings.
When executing the queries in the portal we get the following error;
"Error When Calling Up IGS (ThGetT1002: error (Msg -10 not found) / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPECMINIT' ThGetT)"
When I click on the query it takes me into the query which displays the correct results but next to Organizational Unit the same error appears.
I have no problems when executing it in BEx or as a Web query.
Has anybody encountered this problem and if s how did you solve it.
Regards
Lucien

Lucien ,
I think IGS is not yet setup for you.
Ask the basis guy/gal to set up IGS for the BW Server. They will have to install the IGS . To check if IGS has been installed , you can go to sm59 (RFC)
there you will find the IGS RFC under TCP/IP Connections
or
go to se38
run this program
BW_IGS_CHART_TEST
you will know if IGS is installed.

  • Portal Queries

    Alright Guys,
Looking for some advice. We are currently on BW 3.1 and our organisation are about to go live with MSS, via the portal etc. We have a number of BW queries that will be published, but there are some workbooks we would like to publish too - does anyone know of any workarounds that would allow me to publish a workbook via the portal. (e.g. I have 4 queries that feed a template on my workbook currently in Bex Analyser, how could I publish this collated data via the Portal, with BW 3.1?).
Upgrading is not an option immediately.
    Thanks in advance,
    Scott

Well unless you have some specialized Excel coding in the workbook, it should be a cakewalk transforming the current workbook to a web template containing the queries.
Otherwise, and this might sound off, you could include a role menu for the users wherein you can provide a link to this workbook. Mind it, for though the workbook is reached through the portal, it will be launched nonetheless, in good ol' excel !

  • Where clause on portal queries

we'd like to apply a 'where clause' on the 'query' option of a portal form based on a table. Is there a generic procedure we can use in the pl/sql event handler block to do this? I've seen p_session.set_value used in the generated package with parameters '_block', '_WHERE_CLAUSE', and p_value - but not sure what syntax this is expecting and whether I can use it here.......
    any help appreciated.....

Yes, it can be specified, exactly as it is set in the generated form package:
    p_session.set_value(
    p_block_name => "_block",
    p_attribute_name => '_WHERE_CLAUSE',
    p_value => <varchar2 string>,
    p_index => 1
And syntax is the same as in the WHERE clause in a SELECT statement :
    .... WHERE empno=1234 and ename = 'BLAH' .... etc.....

  • Personalization of variables in WEB

    Hi
I activated personalization of bex in the spro. It works fine in the query analyzer. But this doenst work in my portal queries.
I have gone thru this link but couldnt find out the exact place to create it.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/5b/0f853bc306900be10000000a114084/content.htm
    1. Is personalization is specific to query or specific to the user?
    2. Where exactly should i configure web variable personalization
    thanks
    Annie

    Hi Annie,
    To personalize the variable,
1.Open a query in Web Analyzer
2.Go to Filter link->Variable Screen button
This pops up a variable screen and shows the list of variables.
3.Click "Show Variable Personalization" and move the variables you want to personalize from General variables to Personalized variables.Check "Show Personalized Varaible" checkbox which allows you to see the personalized variables in the variable screen.
This is specific to that query. This is how you can personalize a variable in Web.

  • Slow load of browse button for Add Folder Link

When our user adds a folder link and clicks the browse button the window loads extreamly slow. When admin privileges are applied it loads quickly, but with the standard group permissions that window loads terribly slow. I have a feeling it is realated to Portal checking permissions as it maps out the content area. Has anyone experienced this behavior and possibly found a solution to speed things up? Thanks!

    Olney,
    3.0.9.8.2 has a perf. patch. Check Metalink->Patches->Internet Products->Portal->
queries on wwsec_sys_priv are very expensive.
    You need to use wwsbr_stats.gather_stats

  • TCP ZeroWindow

Hello We are running SAP on windows 2008 R2 Enterprise. HW: IBM HS22.
When a user access SAP information on portal ( Web Server) the portal queries the ECC application Server and provide the information. The issue is we recieve TCP ZeroWindow on the Wireshark log captured in between the WEB and APP server when particular link
is clicked for the first time. After 5 seconds if we click the link it works fine.
    We are usign 1500MTU LAN
    Anand

    Hi Anand,
If the receiver haven't enough receive buffer for a specified amount of time, a TCP zero window size is advertised by the receiver and no new data can be sent to the receiver. When the application on the receiver retrieves the data in the receive buffer,
the receiver TCP then advertises a non-zero window size by sending a TCP packet containing the current Acknowledgment number and non-zero Window size. But if the TCP segments lost before arriving the sender, then the sender will wait the non-zero window all
the time. This situation is known as deadlock. To resolve the deadlock situation, TCP provide a persistence timer for every TCP connection. When one of them receive the zero window, start the persistence timer, then send a zero window probe message segment
periodically. The value of persistence timer is calculated dynamically, depending on the round trip time of the connection, between 5 seconds and 60 seconds value.

SAP BW Bex 7.3 Queries not working with Enterprise Portal (EP) 7.3 ABAP Stack
    Dear Portal Gurus,
we want to integrate SAP BW Bex Queries 7.3 into an Enterprise Portal 7.3 EP ABAP Stack only installation.
    1) We have Done SSO between EP And BI System
    2) System Object is Created
    3) When we trying to create Iview of BEX 7.3 report, its executing that report on BI server, we don't have java stack on BI System
    4) We have updated the required table in Bi system for executing the report on EP
    5) RFC is OK, System Object Test is OK, Report is working independently from Business Explorer, but not working from EP
There no irj services available on BI system, as it is only ABAP stack.
Can anybody help us in achieving our requirement
    Thanks in advance
    Michael Wecker

    Hi Michael,
To integrate portal with BI you need to perform BI Portal integration steps.
Refer to a document link below for guidance purpose.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b0a5216a-349c-2a10-9baf-9d4797349f6a?overridelayout=t…
Ensure that you have performed all these relevant steps.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to create queries on portal

    Hi,
We have implemented Buyer business package on portal and all the ABAP views are coming up fine. For the POWL views like "My Vendors", My Materials" there is an option to create a new query and then view the results in the table based on the query.
Now this step of creating query is coming up for a particular user. But for certain users the view shows message "No active queries" and there is no option to even create a new query.
Please let me know what authorization do I need to give in ECC so that they can get this option of creating new queries.
    Regards,
    Namrata

    Hi,
That User may not have the authorizations on that InfoArea and MP, so check it. See SAP help on Roles and Authorizations.

Using RSECADMIN we can define the roles and authorizations in BI 7.
See some good posting sin SDN
First define the Roles as per your business and then assign the Objects i.e. Plant . Division etc..

  • Queries related to Portal Installation

    Hi All,
    I have a few queries :
We hv installed EP 6.0 based on standalone Java 6.40 system.Wt is the meaning of SCS Instance no.during POrtal installation ? On wt basis does Visual Administrator takes 50004 port for its connectivity when we open irj site with port 50000? Lastly after Portal Java standalone installation two Instance services are formed in SAP MMC , what does these two mean and stand for and wt do they indicate ,secondly which is the cluster and which is the server one amongst the two.Revert to these queries at earliest as i need this info urgently.
    Regards,
    Saumya

SCS stands for central services of SAP NetWeaver AS Java instance, with enqueue and message service. The Central Services run on one physical machine and constitute a Java instance.
You could get a better response on an appropriate forum,I think.
You have got quite a lot of threads open .Pls close them if u r fine with replies u have recieved .It would also be nice if you could  go through this

  • BI Administration Cockpit - Queries not shown in portal

    Hi,
Has anyone experienced the following problem:
    - The BI Admin. Cockpit has been installed according to instructions without errors
    - The technical content as well as the process chains are working and data is being collected from the objects pointed in RSDDSTAT
    - The Business Pacakge "BI Administration 1.0" has been installed.
    - Both roles (BI Admin. & System Admin.) have been assigned in portal and BI Admin -role has been assigned to user in SSM.
    - The BI Admin. tab page is visible in portal and all of the IViews and pages are available in the portal content.
    - If the queries or the templates are executed from BEx or WAD they are populated with data and everything is working as it should be.
    - Even when executing the IViews or pages (f.ex. No. of BI Application Executions per User) in PREVIEW -mode from Portal Content Studio the reports are shown correctly.
HOWEVER: If one navigates to BI-Admin tab --> BI Usage Statistics --> BI Application Usage Statistics -report, both of the expected reports are just missing. The only things that are shown are the templates (tab strip and buttons) but the queries are missing.
There are no error messages etc. Please advice how to proceed with further investigations?
    -Miikka

It's exactly my issue at the moment.
    Hi Miikka.
You wrote: "Both roles (BI Admin. & System Admin.) have been assigned in portal and BI Admin -role has been assigned to user in SSM."  and afterwards you wrote, the solution was "to being activate them"
    My questions:
1.) Sorry, but what means "SSM"?
2.) As I red in the help, it's not needed to assign the BI-Admin to the role "System Admin" when you assign the role SAP_BW_BI_ADMINISTRATOR to the User and additionally set the feature "Accessability" within the role.
Does it only work with assigning the role "System Admin" as well ?
3.) What does ist means, "to being activate them"? There's no Activation forseen after assigning the roles to the Users. So what do you mean ?
    Thanks,
    Thomas

  • BI web queries in HR portal without federation

Is it possible to display BI queries in a portal that is not the "BI portal".  My landscape is as follows.
Have 1 EP 7 HR portal running ESS
Have 1 Dual stack NW2004s system running BI ABAP, BI JAVA, and EP.
CAn you get creative and use old bex reports or url iviews or something besides federation?
    Thanks
    Jeremy

    Hello Jeremy
This should be possible. There are three ways of displaying a BEx Web application or query in a different portal. You can call the iView directly, via application integrator, or via BEx iView.
Please have a look at the following link. It is described in detail there:
    <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/43/92dceb49fd25e5e10000000a1553f7/content.htm">http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/43/92dceb49fd25e5e10000000a1553f7/content.htm</a>

  • Alternatives to WAD for displaying BI Queries / Views in Enterprise Portal

    Hello experts,
we have been using WAD 3.5 extensively for displaying BI Querys in a web-capable form within our Enterprise Portal.
Since our users are not BW-familiar in general, we have the requirement to provide a very easy GUI and navigation.
Actually in 3.5 we are able to fulfill this requirement by extensive use of Javascript to modify the look & feel and also the behaviour of the Web applications.
In WAD 7.0 this is not any longer possible, as SAP restricted the Javascript usage, in 7.0 it is impossible to change the HTML code by accessing the DOM, which is very uncomfortable for us, since our users are familiar with the our (javascript-driven)convenient BI Web interfaces.
My question now: are there any alternatives for displaying BI content (queries / views) in the portal apart from using WAD web templates?
I read that the Visual Composer is now capable of processing BI content. Does anyone have experiences with this? And if yes, how does this compare to the WAD?
I also read that there is a BI Java SDK which contains an API to the OLAP processor. Is the BI Java SDK an alternative to WAD? And if yes, is it possible to integrate Java SDK with Web Dynpro or is it plain Java requiring the usage of Servlets / JSP to render the UI?
Thanks in advance for your help,
    best regards,
    Thilo

BI SDK is a Java library without UI support. Think adout it as a JDBC-type API with multidimentional data support. It's the way to go if you need to get to the data itself but it is not appropriate if you want low-effort reporting solution.

  • Help regarding integrating BEx queries onto portal

    Hi Friends,
CAn anyone please help me in the steps and process required to follow for integrating the bex queries into portal.
we have queries developed in bex analyser , the users want to access the reports via portal, for this to be acheived  do we need to integrate or develope the report templates in WAD and then integrate into portal or we can directly integrate these bex queries onto portal, your response and help is highly solicited, many thanks in advance!

Assuming you are using BW 7 objects. If you are satisfied with the formatting provided by the standard template (see transaction spro thread SAP Netweaver / business intelligence / settings for reporting and analysis / BEx Web / set standard web templates and read the accompanying documentation) you don't have to create individual templates.
Simply create an iview of type Bex Web Application iView (sap netweaver 7 format) and specify "query=technical_name_of_query" as property value for the iview-property "Query-String Bex Web Application".
If you want to use individual templates the property value would be at least "template=yourtemplate" (if queryname is provided as dataprovider in the wad-template) or "template=yourtemplate&query=yourquery".

  • BI Queries through JCO slow in Portal

    Hello Colleagues,
we use a 7.0 Enterprise Portal on top of our 7.0 BI ABAP system.
When we open a report it initiates a JCO to the BI backend.
    Backend|JCO-SID-010@servername|JCO|BICS_PROB_GET_RESULT_SET
=> we changed the caching method to Main Memory Cache with Swapping
=> We preload the queries during the night and these can been seen in rsrcache
The first time we run it have a response time of 7 seconds
The second time we run it we have a response time of 1,2 seconds.
So there is some kind of additional caching done.
Who has experience in this ?
    Thank you
    Hans

    Hello,
    this is a normal procedure.
The first time the data were read from the database and the second time from the cache.
Of course, the read from Cache is much faster.
May be, if you increase the cache the query result can be hold longer in the cache and you will get a fast result after some time too but please consider that after a system restart the cache is empty and the date have to be read from database again for the first execution.
    Bets Regards,
    Marco
