Can FC put action script in a 'code behind'.

Once of the practices I do in FB3 is to move all my action script into 'code behind' files instead of having all the code in the mxml files. Does FC have the option to do that (as part of the gen process) and if not, does anyone else who 'codes' instead of 'designs' feel that is a benefit? I know I'd prefer it to be in a 'separate' as3 file. Also, if I DO move the code into code behinds (I've not tried it yet), does FC have any issues reading the code behind? I'll be trying that on a 'simple' project to be sure but figured I'd ask just in case anyone else wants to know...

The two references cited helped answer questions about Adobe's overall philosophy and approach that came up as I worked a simple example down the design/development stack of tools from Illustrator (AI) to Catalyst (FC) to Flash Builder 4 (FB).
Other questions that arose were:
Each application (AI, FC, FB) contains tools for design with some degree of overlap.
Will FC eventually include from AI (or Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) and the FB design view all functionality needed for interactive storyboarding and skin generation?
Is it the intent for FC to become the designer's tool and FB the developer's tool, at least for application design?
The diagram in the Gumbo skinning spec shows that base components and their subclasses are typically implemented in AS and skins in MXML and recommends this as the preferred design pattern. Yet when I converted one of my groups (essentially a form) to a customized component, and exported the project into FB, I noticed that FC had generated a single mxml file (CustomComponent1 ...) and not a pair of files (an X.as file for the base component and an X.mxml file for the skins).
For several reasons, wouldn't you want to generate separate files as depicted in the Gumbo diagram as a starting point for code customization?
How does one develop custom components in FB (or using AI+FC+FB) and package them as a library so that they can be dropped into FC and used in the way that the current set of 5 components (button, hscrollbar, vscrollbar, text input and data list) are used?
How will I integrate my hand-coded dynamic components for data visualization alongside more generic and static app components on an RIA page?
How would I use AI+FC to design liquid layouts where children at each level often utilize constraints (i.e. top, bottom, left, right) between parent and child?
For agile methodologies, how will refactoring the interaction or software design work in this new world where interaction designers are trying to maintain full control over appearance and interactive behavior?
Finally, I would like to know what tools and steps Ely used to develop the component shown in the video. It would be instructive to turn that into a tutorial that we could walk through, step by step, in slow motion
While I understand the arguments for separation of design and development as a workflow methodology, those of us with development and HCI/visualization backgrounds building research prototypes would like to see integration of the design and development tools (from the perspective of the workflow, not the architecture and code).

Elements does not include Photoshop's Actions Palette function. You can get an add on for elements that will is able to Play some Photoshop Actions in Elements. Just starting out: can I put my script on a test server and move it later?

I'm not a programmer (though I will need to be for our iTunesU setup), so I hope my question will be phrased correctly. We are planning on putting our script on the same server that will run our Moodle site (currently we are running Moodle on a test server). We plan on installing perl so we can run a perl script, as there does not appear to be a php script available.
If we install the script on our test server, will there be a problem when we move the script to our permanent server? Should we wait until our permanent server is up and running?

I can't say with certainty that moving your script from one machine to another will "just work" - there are lots of factors that could cause a script not to work when you move it (system configuration, pre-installed software, etc.). However, the practice of moving a script from a development location to a production server is quite common with iTunes U sites. The key piece of information in your script that keeps the relationship secure between an authorizing server and iTunes U is the shared secret. The other variables are also important as well as having the machine be synchronized to network time.

CS4 Can't Use Actions Scripts

Win XP Pro SP3. I run Batch Actions Scripts all the time to (i.e.) resize a group of images foir web, etc. Suddenly batch actions won't work. Trying to run the same script I've already run all morning (and in the past) I get a pop-up telling me that "Image Size Command is not available". None of the commands are available. Funny thing is I'm getting the same error message whern I try to run the same action in PS6. I've re-booted, tried creating new actions (in both versions).. nothing works. I even tried worling thru a new user ID log-in in XP.
Nothing works. Adobe won't help unless I pay the $39.
Help ???

Can we put a range on company code 100 to 999 in query row definition?

Does anyone know how to define a blank range on a query row definition? For example, we need to put a company code range from 100 to 999 in order to have a range large enough to cover future new comapny codes, but we do not have master data exist for comapny code 999 in BW, It does not seem I can put ccode 999 in the query definition screen. I used hierarchy as a workaround. I created a company code hierarchy to include the range from 100 to 999 and then pull the hierarchy to the query definition. It worked, but I have some problems when I use structure in conjunction with the hierarchy. Anybody have an idea?

I believe a simple selection option variable can work for you..
You would have to create them for each row..
So for each selection in your structure you can restrict by the respective Variable..
While creating the variable specify the default values you want eg: 100 to 999 .
You doot need to have it ready for input..and even if these values are not present in master data it will allow you to use these values in the variable default values..

I can't put anything in Trash, error code -36

Everytime I try to move anything into Trash this message appears:
The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “xyz” can’t be read or written.
(Error code -36)
I cannot move anything to trash or delete anything, doesn't matter if its a word document, .jpg image or a pdf preview nothing will go. I tried to look up error code -36 but it said something about a Windows server and to check the Console screen for a certain message but theres no record of the error on there.
Please help!

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have a wrong owner. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.

How can i put Matlab script in LabView?

1. Look at the examples of Matlab (in the shipping examples).
2. Do a vi search for "matlab", it will bring up the Matlab script node and you can experiment from there.

you can actually call form routines from your SAPscript window. Combined with IF statements (also available in SAPscript) you maybe able to accomplish what you need to do.
You can find information on all available SAPscript control commands in <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/d2/cb3d07455611d189710000e8322d00/frameset.htm">help.sap.com</a>.
If you open <i>SAPscript Control Commands</i> you find the following 2 commands that may help you:
- Conditional Text: IF
- Call ABAP Subroutines: PERFORM

XML Gallery won't work remotely - Action Script issues

I created an XML scrolling thumbnail gallery using a
tutorial
found here
I then had to alter the action script to get my thumbnails to
display properly -- they were spaced out or overlapping each other
and not in the sequence specified in the XML file. The new code
works great locally, but the thumbnails and larger image refuse to
load remotely in every browser i've tried. Any thoughts on how to
alter the action script to load the gallery?!?! I'm not much
experienced in Flash so any help would be most appreciated.

although the "hit" area for the buttons is below the actual

should adjust that on those buttons. I would also recommend
not making the

TLF on action script 2 ?

Seems you can not use TLF in action script 2 as TLF is an action script 3 library...
We are not the experts about how to convert action script 2 to 3 but we'll post this question to our internal forums. If there is anyone answers this question. I'll let you know.

Code behind JFrame.setIconImage(Image img)

I'm looking for some code that will allow me to use a gif/png as an icon for native components. In other words, I want to transform a gif/png to some format (propably ico/bmp) that I can use as Icon data in native code.
When you change the icon of a JFrame, you can use the setIconImage() method. The code behind this method should just about do what I need, but I can't find any sources for it. Does anybody know where to get information about this code, or does anyone have a better idea?

ps. Another option would be to use the JAI package, but that contains WAY more than I need and I don't want a 5MB library to go with my 75KB program.

You can use gif or jpg to load images with java. So if you have an icon as a gif image, you just load that image and apply it to setIconImage. You can use new ImageIcon("filename.gif").getImage().
I don't know is png is supported by 1.4 or if it will be supported later. ico is not supported (I don't know about JAI).
The setIconImage is in java.awt.Frame, and doesnt do much other than keeping a reference to the icon image. I guess there is some native code that will call getIconImage to paint that icon on the title bar.
Anyway, the easiest way is to use a gif or jpg image for an icon.
PS. The source code for the java and javax classes is in a file called src.jar (shipped with jdk). You can unpack it with jar or winzip.

If I added the same actionscript to frame 3 which has a dynamic textbox with a variable timer attached wouldn't it just put the timer back to 0? What I want is the last known value that was given when it was in frame 2.
I am thinking of temple run here, I am trying to caculate the total distance(set in the timer variable) from the previous try.

How can I extract cursor coordinate in Adobe Photoshop for use in Action script?

What I want to do in Photoshop (version CC, but I think this applies to any version) is label a point using count tool under my mouse's current position, and label it multiple times (for different labels). I have an action that essentially does this:
(1) Add to count (under one label) (2) Switch to second label (3) Add to count (under second label) (4) Switch to third label (5) Add to count (under third label)
And the problem is that I need to be able to have a variable in the action script that uses the cursor's current position (X and Y numbers) on the canvas to set these three points when the macro is activated. Currently I am only able to record the script using constant X, Y values (the same point is labeled over and over when I play the recorded action). I am able to extract the code for the action for editing (via xbytor2's suggestion in this forum:https://forums.adobe.com/thread/696989) and I see where the variable can go, I just don't know what exactly to put in place of the constant X, Y values that will let Photoshop input the mouse's current coordinates...
Any ideas? Much appreciated!!

You could use the pen tool set to path and create a single dot, then run the script to get the cursor positions and use that in your script.

Where do I put my Action Script?

So, I created a small Flash site with no loading of external
swfs. I am strictly using the timeline using labels. I have a layer
for my main buttons (home, portfolio and timeline). I have selected
AS3 for the file and I have those buttons working fine.
I have a button for my portfolio where thumbnails will pop up
after being pressed. I want to link those thumbnails to the URL's
of the actual websites. Where do I put the action script?
I also want to have my email at the bottom of the screen so
you can click on it to email me. I am used to using AS2 whwere you
simply put the code on the button.

you on learning AS3, I don't want to go back to AS2.
I already have the code you supplied so I understand what it
is doing but my question is where do I put it in this case? I
always create an action layer as you mention. In my action layer, I
have frame 1 with my preloader code and then frame 2 with my code
for my main buttons. They call to the labels. So, when I press
portfolio for example, it goes to that label.......a shape tween
starts and my portfolio thumbs appear. I then want those thumbs to
link to the URL of those sites.
So, where do I stick your code?
