Can I create a JSP component library

I hope I make some sense here:
Instead of creating a tag library which contains compiled code (and in my case HTML, which I am trying to avoid), I would like to create a library of JSP files that contain small snippets of HTML/JSP to be included in JSP files across a number of contexts.
So the end result would be something like a jar file sitting in the <root>/lib directory for the server (i.e. Tomcat) where JSP files can be found to be included in other JSP files using the include directive. This will allow for a library of JSP chuncks that I can (re)use in various contexts/applications.
Why must they be JSPs? Well I would like to avoid compiling HTML and making it difficult for my designer to alter the UI (my designer doesn't know Java, so a tag lib is not really an option).
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob

Thanks for the reply...
But my problem is not the actually ability to do the include, my problem is where the files to be included are sitting in the filesystem releative to the mother page.
I am trying to build this such that it is convienent to use for possible third party developers.
Thanks,
Rob

Can I create more than one library on the same computer?  Just got an ipod for my wife but didn't want her to have to use my library to sync to, so I thought I created another library for her.  When I deleted my albums from her library the disappeared from mine. (I think?)

I know it's Valentine's Day, but before you get your wife fixed up the first thing you need to do is recover the deleted albums for your own library.  See if the files are elsewhere on your hard drive, or in the Recycle Bin.  When you find them, get them back into your own library.  Now you are ready to help your wife.
As noted above, you can have two libraries in one Windows user account via the Shift-Start approach, but if you both use your libraries regularly, that becomes annoying quickly.  It is better to set her up with her own Windows user account. She can have her own iTunes library there.
Get a copy of your entire iTunes folder to start her off.  She can delete stuff she doesn't want without messing you up.

  • Can I create a "new" iTunes library on an external hard drive and transfer my iTune library to save space on my laptop

Can I create a "new" iTunes library on an external hard drive and transfer my iTune library to save space on my laptop hard drive

Yes. Just copy all your music to a folder on your external. Then delete the music on your computers hard drive.
It is not quite that simple. If you do that you will end up with many broken links and will have to re-create your library from scratch .  iTunes does not like it when you move or rename files or folders and doing so between drives is guaranteed to result in exclamation marks indicating you have broken the links to all your media files.
If you are content with moving the whole library to an external drive (usually the best thing for most people), try:
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

  • Can I create a second iPhoto library?

I've had a series of serious problems with my iPhoto library.
I've now reached the stage where I want to archive the corrupt library (but still be able to access it) and start a new library.
    1) Is it possible to start a new library in iPhoto?
    2) Is it likely that if I start a "new" library it will suffer the same corruption problems as my old one?
For info, the corrupt version frequently crashes;  loses faces data; and doesn't allow new faces to be added.
I also use Aperture but iPhoto is my primary application.
    Thank you

    My last words.
Apple's advice may well be good - but I'm not sure that's "Apple's Advice" so much as one employee. And frankly, on here we see reports of advice from Apple Store employees that is inaccurate ("iPhoto is only good for 25k photos, you can't use Photoshop and iPhoto, and others I have seen over the years).
Don't you see that  these 15k photos will be in an unsafe environment? You really want to continue with that?
    See above where I said
    1. Make a Back up.
That means what ever you do you can still return to the current status quo. As long as you have a back up of the current - mucked-up - library, it can't get worse.
So the worst that can happen is nothing changes. The Best that can happen is it gets fixed.
Library Manager is not a plug-in and does not complicate how iPhoto works. It simplifies working with multiple libraries for a start.
And remember what exactly it does:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
So, make a back up - that's one level of protection, and then Library Manager is non-destructive so that's double the protection.
Finally: search the forum. It is no exaggeration to say that Library Manager is recommended on here 50+ times every week for these kinds of problems. See how many folks find themselves worse off after using it.
    After that:
The one thing you really cannot do is leave the photos in the damaged library. It is really, really unwise. If you don't want to use Library manager, then create a new Library
Recover the Masters from the damaged one
Import them to the new Library.
    To create a new Library:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'

  • How can I create a new Music Library?

Had to buy new laptop which of course has Vista. The old unit was acting up(I think Windows XP was corrupt), so I saved my Library Files but it looks like the old machine only saved portions not the whole Library. I had approx. 13,000 tunes (35GB) in the LIbrary and all that was saved seems to be 319 tunes. I have all the music on an external HD and only the Library was on the laptop. My question is, how can I create a new Library from the external HD music? Is there a way or am I SOL? Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.

You need the entire libary on the external, not just media.

Once you get a complete iTunes folder on the external drive, start iTunes with the option/alt key held down and select the iTunes Library.itl file on the external drive.  You will also need to do this with your main computer or the libraries will become unsynchronized.
Alternatively you can make a separate library using the same media on the second computer. Start as you have been doing, let iTunes create a new, blank library file which will be on hte internal drive, set the media folder location in preferences to be the one on the external drive, then add the files to the new iTunes library. Unless you are a super-organized individual, or you don't care if your libraries do not have the same content, you are better off using a single library file that is on the external, not setting up separate library files.

  • Can I create a HTML component?

I haven't actually used/configured the IPlanet portal, but I have used Websphere. A collegue of mine said that we couldn't create any HTML component? and it took him 2 days to put a HelloWorld Servlet into the portal? it sounds really ridiculous if it's true?
    Thanks & regards
    Thinh

I really dont know what do you mean by HTML component but I dont think its very hard to deploy a servlet and make it work on portal server. Actually, you can deploy a servlet as a channel in portal or just deploy a servlet to web server which is embeded by portal. if you have the experience of writing servlet, I believe it would not take you more than a hour to make the hello world servlet work. good luck.

  • Can we Create new Web Component in OAF LIb?

    Dear all,

3)Can we create any Pie Chart where each Part should be have has a link(Ex:In Pie chart If we have 5 Parts when I click on any part of Pie chart It chould navigate to Other Page)?

    Hi,
This is what i have found. This might really help you.
Adding Components to the OA Extension
The OA Extension provides design time support for any additional components included as extensions to the OA Framework (Fwk) by product groups in Apps, as well as Fwk plug-in support at runtime.
The Preferences | Oracle Applications | OA Component Manager page provides a generic mechanism for any product group to enable and disable additional components.
To enable or disable the loading of a specific component extension: From the main menu, choose Tools | Preferences. Expand the Oracle Applications node and select OA Component Manager. The OA Component Manager page displays an entry for each component extension installed in the jdev/lib/ext/jrad/ext folder.
By default, any new extension jar file installed by the OA Extension is initially disabled. Select or deselect components in the list. For more information on these options, press F1 or click Help from within the page. When finished, click OK. You must restart JDeveloper to enable a new extension. The enable/disable state of an extension will be saved in the settings.xml file in your system directory.

  • Creating custom jsp component - Finding the jsp tag descriptor htmlb.tld

    Hi,
I want to create my own TabStrip component by extending the SAP Standard HTMLB components TabStrip and TabStripItem. I've found the classes that I need to extend under the jar below, but I can't find the htmlb.tld file. I need to make a copy of this file to create a tag descriptor for my new components in order to use them in my JSP.
The classes I am using are in the com.sapportals.htmlb package, located in the file
    ECLIPSE_HOME/plugins/com.sap.tc.ap_2.0.0/comp/SAP_JTECHS/DCs/sap.com/com.sapportals.htmlb/_comp/gen/default/public/default/lib/java/htmlb.jar
I've searched the jars in the "plugins" directory of NWDI but can't find it (although I did find some other tld files). I'm guessing it must be somewhere on the poertal, but where?
    Please help
    Thanks
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have access to your portal's installation box - then you can get this TLD at the following paths:
    <Installation Drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\<instance no>\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\com.sapportals.htmlb.ear\servlet_jsp\htmlb\root\WEB-INF
    OR

    <Installation Drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\<instance no>\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\com.sap.engine.services.webservices.tool\servlet_jsp\uddiclient\root\WEB-INF
    Hope this helps!!!
