Cannot create editable region on php page

I was successful on the html page; to select the text and create editable region.
But when I select the same text on the php page; I get the error message: "Selection is outside the body tag. Select the text inside the body tag."

What am I doing wrong?
Thank you.

Hello JudyEllis,
Take a look at the output source code for your PHP page when viewed in the browser. You actually have multiple nested opening and closing HTML and body tags in your page. It appears maybe you're using includes, for instance with your header and footer, but your include files are entire HTML documents, not just the chunks of code you need.

Corey

    hi
    Please consider ADF applications migrated from JDeveloper 11g R1 to 11g R2 [1].
    When using JDeveloper 11g R2 to create a task-flow containing facelets fragments and dropping it on an existing/migrated page (created using JDeveloper 11g R1) results in a message :
    "Cannot create a region from a task flow containing facelets fragments in a jspx page.".
    What would be "good guidelines" (do's and don't's) of using facelets aspects in an ADF application migrated from JDeveloper 11g R1 to 11g R2?
    - [1] e.g. specifically JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 to JDeveloper 11.1.2.4.0, see also forum thread "migration support from 11.1.1.6.0 to 11.1.2.4.0"

    A team could have resources available now, and maybe not in a couple of months (related to wanting/needing to use facelets, and related to the "perceived/expected complexity" of an 11g R1 to 12c migration compared to an 11g R2 to 12c migration).
    ... (you know how complex this can be) ...Maybe less knowing, and more trying to find out.

  • Editable regions in child page

    Hi all.
    Dreamweaver 8.
    I have a template with two editable regions, Header and Body.
    I have a new page, and I want to apply the template.
    I am prompted to move the content to the new regions. Is my
    new child page supposed to have editable regions with the same
    name? If I try to do this, I am prompted to create a new template.
    If I apply the template and move all of my new content to the
    'body' region, it all disappears. If I move all of it to the Header
    region, it is all there. I've tried every combination and only the
    one works. I've seen a lot of discussion about having the regions
    named in the child page, but don't understand that bit yet.
    Ty in advance.

    Not necessarily.
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="layer1" -->
    <div id="layer1">Contents</div>
    <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    This treats the layer AND its contents as editable.

  • Editable Regions Across Multiple Pages

    Is it possible to create an editable region in a template
    that when edited would update all the pages within a website? For
    example, I am working on a website for a symphony. They want their
    upcoming events listed on the sidebar of each page and want to
    update this information frequently. But, they have over 50 pages.
    Any suggestions?

    I'm afraid that will make a mess. The entire body contents
    will be placed
    in the right editable region....

  • Trying to create editable region - already editable?

    Hi,
    I'm really new to web design/Dreamweaver, so please bear with me!
    I have created a template for a web site I've been making, and I'm now trying to add editable regions. However, wherever I try and insert one I get the message: The selection is already in an editable, repeating, or optional region.
    I have not added any kind of regions, merely been creating the web page. I tried to remove the template markup, but that option is greyed out. I really don't know what to do. It's probably something really obvious, but I can't figure it out, and I couldn't find the answer on google.

  • Latest version iMovie: cannot see clips in project OR event browser, but they are there in both libraries! So cannot create/edit/publish ANYTHING.

    HI All. I have been having a HECK of a time with iMovie 11!!!  Converted a bunch of video to .mov format, imported into iMovie, and created a project. No problem. Finalized, and published to iTunes, no problem. Saves extra copies. No Problem. SO ... I want to create another project, and follow the instructions RELIGIOUSLY. I can import the video files into the event library, and can drag them into a newly created project, but I CANNOT see the clips in the browser pane for events or library! When I click the playhead in either the event library or the project library (where the clips are edited - supposedly), they play (ie, i hear the audio just fine) ... but NO real-time playback.  ALSO - the video no longer plays for the already completed project when I click the playhead - same deal - not in the project browser, not in the event browser. The playhead runs, but as it moves from thumbnail to thumbnail, each one goes black, and no video plays in real time in the other pane. I closed out of iMovie, did a restart, repaired permissions. No change. I get no error messages, and can find no way to 'reassociate' a project with a set of clips (like one can do in software like Illustrator etc).HELP!!!

    I've spent 3 hours in Apple Covent Garden trying to have this fixed. Most of those were spent doing something to content in iPhoto. It didn't work. Then I left them my computer to reinstall software (Snow Leopard and iMovie) which they said they could do better than me and my discs. But I got back a computer with a new user profile and no files. When I used Time Machine to restore my files to my old profile the problem was just as before except now I've lost a week worth of photos, despite the Time Machine file having been saved just hours before I gave my Mac to the muppets in the Apple store.
    If it's any clue, the other I get is that iMovie searches for four missing movie files when it tries to load. I've tried solving this by creating new files and changing the names to match the ones that are missing (as I read elsewhere in the community works) but it doesn't work.
    So I've wasted hours, a day of Apple having my computer and no one replies to my thread here. What's to be done? Do I give up on iMovie and buy Final Cut pro? And how can I get my week's worth of photos back that have disappeared from TimeMachine, even though everything else in the restoration (e.g. mail and Firefox windows) are completely up to date?

  • Cannot create/edit File

    Hi. When I try to edit some files from my IDE through my program, and I run the program, it cannot edit the file. For example if I do a FileWriter.write() on a file, if the file doesn't exist, it will be created. However writing to the file fails. I think it has got to do with permissions though I do not quite know how to rectify the problem. I am using Windows XP and not using the Administrator account. When I try to change the permission of the folder concerned from read-only to NOT read-only, the change seems to always get overwritten. Many thanks in advance.

    Here's a demo that shows that even if finalize runs, it might not be enough. I set up a typical I/O pipeline:
    PrintWriter -> OutputStreamWriter -> (My)BufferedOutputStream -> (My)FileOutputStream
    When the gc runs, it closes the file output stream but doesn't flush the buffer. The result is that
    the file doesn't contain all you thought that you wrote.
    import java.io.*;
    public class IOExample {
        public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
            File file = new File("junk.txt");
            PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(new MyBufferedOutputStream(new MyFileOutputStream(file))));
            out.println("hello, world");
            out=null;
            System.gc();
            System.out.println("return from gc");
    class MyFileOutputStream extends FileOutputStream {
        public MyFileOutputStream(File file) throws FileNotFoundException {
            super(file);
        protected void finalize() throws IOException {
            super.finalize();
            System.out.println("MyFileOutputStream.finalize called");
    class MyBufferedOutputStream extends BufferedOutputStream {
        public MyBufferedOutputStream(OutputStream out) {
            super(out);
        public void flush() throws IOException {
            super.flush();
            System.out.println("MyBufferedOutputStream.flush called");
    }

  • Editing in a non editable region in web page

    After tiding up my site, (removing spaces etc in files names)
    my links on the nav page did not work to the next page.
    They are in a locked template area so i opened the template
    up and changed them, but they do not update the pages based on the
    template ? Will it because I changed my web page names (took out
    the spaces)
    How do i get them to update, either by putting the new file
    names in the template or unlocking the locked template area and
    manually putting in the new link names to the other pages ?

    Please go to SITES | Manage Sites..., select the site name,
    and click on
    Edit. Click on the Advanced tab at the top. Tell me the
    following -
    Under LOCAL INFO
    The contents of "Local root folder:"
    It appears that your site is improperly defined. Your links
    look like
    this -
    <a href="../webpages/index.htm"
    and I'm betting that "webpages" is the name of the root
    folder of the site.
    There's no way that your template (or any page, for that
    matter) should
    contain the name of the root folder in any link to any file.
    I believe you would be better advised to start over with a
    fresh site
    definition, honestly.

  • Creating editable regions in templates

    This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/dreamweaver/cs/using/WScbb6b82af5544594822510a94ae8d65-7ab7a.h tml

    LOL, I am not. I created it with what I though was a template, it says it's a template however I noticed it is an .html file not a .dwt. I somehow copied a page from my existing site, don't know how I did it now, an thought I saved it as a termplate. I am so confused at this point

  • Cannot create message attachment directly from pages

    typed a document,
    clicked share
    send via email
    this is what happens sending via word or pages

    Is this what you are referring to?

  • Modifying a template resulted in all child pages with repeating editable regions - Help !

    Good morning,
    I have recently been appointed to update a website designed in Dreamweaver by an employee who is no longer here. I have read books on the software and practiced an insane amount which permitted me to update child pages, links, documents etc... however:
    I was asked to add a new button to an "non-editable" region of a template. Trying to do so resulted in a massive mess (with massive anxiety).
    Even thou the new template had all the same text and editable regions, all my pages look completely different from the template itself. The editable regions appears 2-3 times in different locations ex: Header is showed on the bottom, top etc... and the Editable region titles (EditableRegion1 etc...) repeat themselves as well.
    I really need help and not sure what to do, I have tried everything and I am only making it worse and worse. All I want/need is for all my html pages created with this template, match the template.
    Please note that this site is local, not online.
    Since I noticed on other threads that the code is needed; here it is:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    <title>QMS: AFM</title>

    <!--
    body  {
    font: 100% Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    background: #666666;
    margin: 0; /* it's good practice to zero the margin and padding of the body element to account for differing browser defaults */
    padding: 0;
    text-align: center; /* this centers the container in IE 5* browsers. The text is then set to the left aligned default in the #container selector */
    color: #000000;
    background-color: #D7D7D7;
    background-repeat: repeat-x;

    border-right-color: #066;
    border-bottom-color: #066;
    border-left-color: #066;
    /* Tips for Elastic layouts
    1. Since the elastic layouts overall sizing is based on the user's default fonts size, they are more unpredictable. Used correctly, they are also more accessible for those that need larger fonts size since the line length remains proportionate.
    2. Sizing of divs in this layout are based on the 100% font size in the body element. If you decrease the text size overall by using a font-size: 80% on the body element or the #container, remember that the entire layout will downsize proportionately. You may want to increase the widths of the various divs to compensate for this.
    3. If font sizing is changed in differing amounts on each div instead of on the overall design (ie: #sidebar1 is given a 70% font size and #mainContent is given an 85% font size), this will proportionately change each of the divs overall size. You may want to adjust based on your final font sizing.
    .twoColElsLtHdr #container {
    width: 46em;  /* this width will create a container that will fit in an 800px browser window if text is left at browser default font sizes */
    background: #FFFFFF;
    margin: 0 auto; /* the auto margins (in conjunction with a width) center the page */
    border: 30px none #C4C4C4;
    text-align: left; /* this overrides the text-align: center on the body element. */
    padding-left: 10px;
    background-color: #FFF;
    border-top-color: #C4C4C4;
    border-right-color: #C4C4C4;
    border-bottom-color: #C4C4C4;
    border-bottom-style: outset;
    border-left-style: outset;
    border-top-width: thick;
    border-right-style: outset;
    border-top-style: outset;
    border-left-color: #C4C4C4;
    border-right-width: thick;
    border-bottom-width: thick;
    border-left-width: thick;
    .twoColElsLtHdr #header {
    padding: 0 10px;  /* this padding matches the left alignment of the elements in the divs that appear beneath it. If an image is used in the #header instead of text, you may want to remove the padding. */
    background-color: #FFF;
    .twoColElsLtHdr #header h1 {
    margin: 0; /* zeroing the margin of the last element in the #header div will avoid margin collapse - an unexplainable space between divs. If the div has a border around it, this is not necessary as that also avoids the margin collapse */
    padding: 10px 0; /* using padding instead of margin will allow you to keep the element away from the edges of the div */
    /* Tips for sidebar1:
    1. Be aware that if you set a font-size value on this div, the overall width of the div will be adjusted accordingly.
    2. Since we are working in ems, it's best not to use padding on the sidebar itself. It will be added to the width for standards compliant browsers creating an unknown actual width.
    3. Space between the side of the div and the elements within it can be created by placing a left and right margin on those elements as seen in the ".twoColElsLtHdr #sidebar1 p" rule.
    .twoColElsLtHdr #sidebar1 {
    float: left;
    width: 12em; /* the background color will be displayed for the length of the content in the column, but no further */
    padding: 15px 0; /* top and bottom padding create visual space within this div */
    background-color: #066;
    background-repeat: repeat-x;
    border-top-width: thin;
    border-top-style: none;
    border-right-style: none;
    border-bottom-style: none;
    border-left-style: none;
    border-right-width: thin;
    border-bottom-width: thin;
    border-left-width: thin;
    color: #FFF;
    padding-left: 0px;
    clear: left;
    .twoColElsLtHdr #sidebar1 h3, .twoColElsLtHdr #sidebar1 p {
    margin-left: 10px; /* the left and right margin should be given to every element that will be placed in the side columns */
    margin-right: 10px;
    background-color: #066;
    text-decoration: inherit;
    /* Tips for mainContent:
    1. If you give this #mainContent div a font-size value different than the #sidebar1 div, the margins of the #mainContent div will be based on its font-size and the width of the #sidebar1 div will be based on its font-size. You may wish to adjust the values of these divs.
    2. The space between the mainContent and sidebar1 is created with the left margin on the mainContent div.  No matter how much content the sidebar1 div contains, the column space will remain. You can remove this left margin if you want the #mainContent div's text to fill the #sidebar1 space when the content in #sidebar1 ends.
    3. To avoid float drop, you may need to test to determine the approximate maximum image/element size since this layout is based on the user's font sizing combined with the values you set. However, if the user has their browser font size set lower than normal, less space will be available in the #mainContent div than you may see on testing.
    4. In the Internet Explorer Conditional Comment below, the zoom property is used to give the mainContent "hasLayout." This avoids several IE-specific bugs that may occur.
    .twoColElsLtHdr #mainContent {
    margin: 0 1.5em 0 13em; /* the right margin can be given in ems or pixels. It creates the space down the right side of the page. */

    border-right-style: none;

    I am not suprised, the previous employee tried to recreate the English version of the site in another folder structure and did not change all links and was still using a template in the wrong location.
    I think I created the mess by trying to modify the existing template's non-editable region in order to add a new button. When trying to update all the pages, the fiasco started.
    Do you think the best option would be to create a new template in the correct folder structure and apply it? Would it fix the current pages or will I have to fix them all manualy on by one?
    I understand it is difficult to deal with a newbie of my magnitude and thanks again.

  • Adding text to editable region creates space in the rest of my layout

    I created my layout in PS, sliced the images and then imported to DW (html and images).
    Layout looks great.
    I created editable regions in the template I created from the .html
    One I start inserting text into these regions, my container moves and it throws the rest of the layout off by adding space between the editable region and the area above it (a big black line horizontally through the page).
    Is there a way to keep the container/editable region from moving or growing with the text so that it doesn't change my layout?
    On a side note, this change doesn't appear in live view. When I preview in browser, Safari layout looks great, but text doesn't appear. In firefox, text appears, but layout is a mess.
    Here is the code from the editable region to which I am trying to add text:
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="main_content_area" -->
            <div id="site_layout_contentmain">Content for  id "site_layout_contentmain" Goes Here</div>
          <!-- TemplateEndEditable --></td>
    ANY help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!!

    Yes, the design is appearing to pull apart when I add content, but only in the Firefox preview.
    If it pulls apart in Firefox, chances are it pulls apart in all browsers when text size is increased.
    The problem with Photoshop code is that it is a) rigid, b) unstable and c) invalid.
    To illustrate, run your code through the on-line validation tools below.
    CSS - http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
    HTML - http://validator.w3.org/
    Photoshop is OK for designing quick comps to show the client but they won't hold up on a real site.
    IMO, the benefits of starting over far outweigh the inconvenience.

    In page A we have 3 buttons, CreateEmp, EditEmp and DisplayEmp button and one text field as a parameter field to edit and display (let say employeeId).
    In page B we have form employee to create new employee, edit employee and display and a button AddMoreEmp (to add more employee without back to page A)
    in this case if button EditEmp is pressed in page A, so button AddMoreEmp in page B will be enabled
    if button DisplayEmp in page A is pressed , so button AddMoreEmp in page B will be disabled.
    Thanks in advance,
    samantha

    I think what you are looking for is a comb field. It acts like a regular field but puts the vertical lines in between each character. You can turn the comb on in the object palette and indicate how many chars will appear in the field (so that it knows how many lines to draw).

  • Open a QT movie in editable region of page (template)

    I am using templates for my site.  I'd like a movie link to open in a dependent page in the editable region of the page if possible.  Can't seem to make it happen.  The movie always opens in its own blank page.

    Did you embed a QT Player on the page?
