Common class resource for loaded and loading swf

hi,
i have built a video player, and now i'm working on (sort-of) video editor.  both of them use a singleton class 'DataRepository', which - as it name implies - serves as a repository for all the data needed to play the video and/or edit it.
now i want to add to the editor a preview functionality, so i simply load the player.swf into the editor.swf.  before doing so, i set a variable in the data repository to the id of the video i want to preview.  i found out that when i load the player using a relative path, it uses the same singleton instance of the data repository as the editor does, thus reading the video id variable and previewing it correctly.  however, when i load the player using absolute path it creates its own copy of the data repository, thus unable to read the video id and preview it.
since the player and editor will eventually be on 2 different servers, using relative path is not an option.
is there any way i can make sure the player uses the same instance of the data repository as the editor does?
thanks in advance,
eRez
ps - in case it matters, the 'allowscriptaccess' property in the editor's html page is set to 'always'.

This is how I eventually did this:
Created 2 layers.
Layer 1 has my existing image which I put a stop action to in the 1st frame.
Layer 2 has a link to the external swf file with this action: loadMovieNum("top2.swf", 2); in the 1st frame.
So the initial image stays up until the top2.swf is fully loaded. This is for people with dialup. A lot of the clients who will look at this particular web site are rural and only have dialup access to the internet. The animation loads quickly for high speed.
Here's the web site if you wish to view the result.

  • Loading and download SWFs for AIR apps on iOS from server

    Dear
    I develop app for ios using adobe air i need to loading and download swf in my server to my local device
    i make it loading from server and play but i need to download it locally in device to play offline
    Please Help
    Thank You

    If I undestand correct, the unload() is unsuported yet, so it just hangs in the memory
    In the tests I did, when I put two loads for the same swf, the app freezes, so I don´t know what you can do there.
    For the "code", you just need to put the LoaderContext on the loads, something like this:
    Frame 1:
    var myLoader:Loader;
    var loaderContext:LoaderContext = new LoaderContext(false, ApplicationDomain.currentDomain, null);
    if(myLoader == null){myLoader = new Loader(); addChild(myLoader); }
    else {myLoader.unload();}
    Frame 2:
    myLoader.unload();
    myLoader.load(new URLRequest("file1.swf"),loaderContext);
    Frame 3:
    myLoader.unload();
    myLoader.load(new URLRequest("file2.swf"),loaderContext);
    Frame 4:
    myLoader.unload();
    myLoader.load(new URLRequest("file3.swf"),loaderContext);

    Hypesuh I would recommend reviewing both Error downloading Creative Cloud applications - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/error-downloading-cc-apps.html and Creative Cloud app doesn't open and hangs on spinning progress wheel - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-app-doesnt-open.html as it appears both documents are applicable towards the difficulties which you are currently facing.

  • FCP X is loading and loading with the colour wheel revolving for ever for the past few days.

    FCP X is loading and loading with the colour wheel revolving for ever, for the past few days.
    FCP X was working fine in my new 15" Mac book pro (Retina display with Mountain Lion 10.8.2) for the past one month. Now a days, each time I try to open the FCP X, the same non-stop colour wheel is rotating, trying to restore one of my project. It continues even for hours together.  Finally I am force quiting the application.
    How do I come out of it ? Will I be able to recover my project.  I didn't do any backup in particular.
    Is backing up on the regular basis is required?
    I tried the following guidance by Apple,
    In the Finder, hold down the Option key and choose Library from the Go menu.
    In the Library folder that opens, go to Application Support/Final Cut Pro.
    Drag the Layouts folder from the Final Cut Pro folder to the Trash.
    Still my problem is continued
    Help me

    This is my pet checklist for questions regarding FCP X performance - you may have already addressed some of the items but it's worth checking.
    Make sure you're using the latest version of the application - FCP X 10.0.5 runs very well on my 2009 MacPro 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 16 GB RAM and ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB. I run it with Lion 10.7.5.
    First, check that you have at least 20% free space on your system drive.
    For smooth playback without dropping frames, make sure 'Better Performance' is selected in the FCP X Preferences - Playback Tab.
    If you have not already done so, move your Projects and Events to a fast (Firewire 800 or faster) external HD. Make sure the drive's formatted OS Extended (journalling's not required for video). You should always keep at least 20% free space on the Hard Drives that your Media, Projects and Events are on.
    Check the spec of your Mac against the system requirements:
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/specs/
    Check the spec of your graphics card. If it's listed here, it's not suitable:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4664
    If you are getting crashes, there is some conflict on the OS. Create a new (admin) user account on your system and use FCP X from there - if it runs a lot better, there's a conflict and a clean install of the OS would be recommended.
    Keep projects to 20 mins or less. If you have a long project, work on 20 min sections then paste these into a final project for export.
    If your playback in FCP X is not good, I strongly recommend you use ProRes 422 Proxy - it edits and plays back like silk because the files are small but lightly compressed (not much packing and unpacking to do) - but remember to select 'Original or Optimised Media' (FCP X Preferences > Playback) just before you export your movie, otherwise it will be exported at low resolution.
    The downside of 'Proxy' is that it looks awful. DON'T use Proxy when you're assessing things like video quality - especially focus.
    If you have plenty of processor power, for the ultimate editing experience, create Optimised Media - most camera native files are highly compressed and need a great deal of processor power to play back - particularly if you add titles, filters or effects. ProRes 422 takes up much more hard drive space but is very lightly compressed. It edits and plays back superbly.
    Personally, I work with XDCAM EX and h.264 from a Canon DSLR. Both of these run fine with my system, but I do transcode multicam clips.
    Hide Audio Waveforms at all times when you don't need them (both in Browser and Storyline / Timeline). They take up a lot of processor power. (Use the switch icon at the bottom-right of your timeline to select a format without waveforms if you don't need them at the moment, then switch back when you do).
    Create folders in the Project and Events libraries and put any projects you are not working on currently, in those folders. This will help a lot. There's a great application for this, called Event Manager X - for the tiny cost it's an invaluable application.
    http://assistedediting.intelligentassistance.com/EventManagerX/
    Unless you cannot edit and playback without it, turn off Background Rendering in Preferences (under Playback) - this will help general performance and you can always render when you need to by selecting the clip (or clips) and pressing Ctrl+R.
    The biggest single improvement I saw in performance was when I upgraded the RAM from 8 GB to 16.
    If none of this helps, you might have incompatible or corrupt media or project files. Move ALL your Events and Projects to temporary folders so that FCP X doesn't find them on launch. If it launches OK, re-introduce the Events and Projects one at a time, re-launching each time, so that you can track down the corrupt or incompatible files.

    Hi,
    I'm in Nova Scotia, Canada and when I try to use Siri it loads and loads and then says, "I'm really sorry about this, but I can't take any requests right now. Please try again in a little while."
    I rebooted and it didn't fix the problem. I just got my iPhone 4s (unlocked right from Apple) several weeks ago.

    Siri has been a bit more erratic than usual in the last week or so. Apple has announced a major announcement for 9/12. Conclusions are left to the reader.
    Best of luck.

  • When I try to download any thing from AppStore it only loads and loads it doesn't downloads plz help me

    pplz help me when I download any thing from AppStore it only loads and loads don't downloads

    Try closing the App Store and reset yor iPad. Double tap the home button and find the App Store app. Swipe the thumbnail preview of the App Store up off the top of the screen to close it. then hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
    If that doesn't work, try resetting your router. Unplug it for about 30 seconds then plug it in again.
    If that fails, reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. No data is lost, but all device settings have to be entered again.

    You really should not post your email address on public forum such as this where it can be harvested by scammers. I have request the Host edit for your protection.
    If you bought it 20 days I would suggest that you take it back to Apple and ask them to fix it for you. Why should you have to mess around fixing it.

  • Safari keeps loading and loading and loading

    I have an iMac PowerPC G5 running OS 10.4.11 and using Safari 4.0.4. When I load webpages it seems to never stop loading and loading.... The little spinning sprocket keeps turning for several minutes until I get tired of it and manually Stop the page from trying to complete loading. It seems everything appears on the pages that is supposed to, but the "Loading" never stops!
    What's going on? Is there a fix?
    Thanks!

    HI,
    Try maintenance...
    From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
    From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
    Relaunch Safari. If you still have problems...
    Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1594
    If third party plugins aren't the issue..
    If you are visiting sites that stream Flash content such as YouTube, try uninstalling your current Flash plugin and reinstalling a new copy.
    Uninstall Flash
    Install Flash
    Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. If it's a successful launch, then that .plist file needs to be moved to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.

  • The fist tab does not finish loading - it keeps on loading and loading.

    Since the latest Firefox update, the first tab does not load! It keeps on loading and loading. The first tab also does not want to close. '''So the first tab does not load and it does not close! '''All other tabs load and close. This happens when I open new tabs or when FF opens previous sessions.

    On further attempts. I believe that my earlier post was not the correct description. What I have found is that when Firefox is closed with a web page open on its first tab, the next attempt to open Firefox will cause the symptoms that Lorraine was talking about earlier. After that back keys don't work. This is not an extension issue. I believe that this is a Firefox issue.

  • Help with load and unload swf file.

    hello, just now i try, to  load my file using the code snippet 'load and unload' i manage to load the next file succesfully but why my recent file still appear in the background? how do i make it gone?

    When you load another SWF you're loading it 'inside' the current SWF but it appears that you want to replace the current SWF entirely with the new SWF, is that correct?
    If so you should make what's usually known as a 'stub' or a loader. Make an empty project that merely acts as a loader. It should load your first SWF and when you press a button on that first SWF to load a second SWF, it should signal the 'stub' it's loaded inside to unload the first SWF and then load the second.
    e.g. a stub.swf (just coding out of memory, not error checked, just to give a general idea):
    // make a new loader to do all the loading of SWFs
    var loader:Loader = new Loader();
    // and display
    addChild(loader);
    // a function to load a SWF into the loader (replacing any existing SWF)
    function loadSWF(path:String):void
         // assure path is defined or do nothing
         if (!path) return;
         // load requested SWF
         loader.load(new URLRequest(path));
    // load initial SWF
    loadSWF('/path/to/1.swf');
    For your 1.swf to use the function, you're currently inside the .content property of a Loader so I believe you can just run a command like: Object(this.parent.parent).loadSWF('/path/to/2.swf');
    This example obviously lacks any error checking or transitions but you can add those and season to taste.

  • Flex 4.6 IOS Mobile packager - can it load and play swf's dynamically at run time?

    I have an app that shows the viewer slides in a SWFLoader object.  I load the slides at runtime from a remote server.  When I package the app for IOS using 4.6 the swf slides load and play fine in the IOS emulator on the PC.  They don't load, however, when I deploy to a provisioned iPad.
    My guess is that IOS can handle doesn't know what to do with dynamically loaded swf data.  I'm not positive though because it plays in the emulator.  Is that emulator truly emulating xcode or is it running flash?
    Note:  this same app plays an rtmp flash stream just fine even on the device itself.  Just can't handle a dynamically loaded swf.

    The correct answer to this question appears to be that Apple's terms of service *do not* prohibit the loading of swf's on IOS from remote servers dynamically at runtime.  They prohibit the loading of swf's that *contain executable ActionScript code*.
    I loaded a PPT into Adobe Connect and then retrieved the resultant slide swf's from the Connect server.  I took these swf's and loaded them into my iPad app, dynamically at runtime, from a remote server.  The swf's loaded and animations played.  I made no changes to my code.  I'm just using a plain old SWFLoader object.
    Loading swf's dynamically at runtime from remote servers into IOS works - if you make the swf's right.  How to do that I'm not sure.
