Copy the value from one item into another

Hi,
I have a page with 2 items on it: Field1 and Field2. When the user enters a value in Field1 and tabs out, I want to copy the value to Field2.
I have changed the setField1 method in the VORowImpl to call setField2 passing in the same value.
In the JHeadstart definition file I have set the Depends On Item property of Field2 to be Field1.
When I run the page and put a value in Field1 the page autosubmits as expected and the setField1 method runs. Unfortunately, the value does not appear in Field2.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Gavin

Hi Steven,
Checking the box does indeed get the value from Field1 into Field2.
What I want to do, though, is to populate Field2 from Field1 only if Field2 is empty. Unfortunately, Field2 is now cleared before the setter of Field1 executes and so it always overwrites Field2.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Gavin

  • How to get a value from one item into another

    How can i get value from one item into another item.
    Ex: I have a report, in there i have check boxes, and when i have checked some rows, and press submitt, a prosses computates it into a item on another page, and a branche redirects to page 3. Then i'm going to use the value in the item into a PL/SQL script in an report to show the submittet items.
    How can i do this?
    Computation script, pages and all that is fixed. But i dont know which PL/SQL statement to use to get th value from the item.

    Hi Fredr1k,
    Use the V() function from pl/sql.
    e.g. V('P3_MY_ITEM')
    will return the value of that page item.
    As long as the pl/sql is called from within the Apex environment.

    Hello everybody,
    I would like to copy all the songs from one Ipod into another. All the songs are into my Itunes account, I tried to drag and drop the songs from the old Ipod to the new one but it doesn't work. Is there a way to do it ?
    I share one Itunes account with other people from my family and one person would like to keep the same songs on the new Ipod as the ones which were on the old one.
    Thanks in advance for your answer.

    Hello Chris,
    Thanks for your answer. I was hoping for an easier answer. Too bad there is no drag and drop solution, it would have been much easier.
    Thanks for answering so fast.

  • How we can get the values  from one screen to another screen?

    hi guru's.
         how we can get the values  from one screen to another screen?
              we get values where cusor is placed but in my requirement i want to get to field values from one screen to another screen.
    regards.
      satheesh.

    Just think of dynpros as windows into the global memory of your program... so if you want the value of a field on dynpro 1234 to appear on dynpro 2345, then just pop the value into a global variable (i.e. one defined in your top include), and you will be able to see it in your second dynpro (assuming you make the field formats etc the same on both screens!).

  • Passing the values from one pgm to another pgm (Calling pgm has no sel scr)

    Hi gurus,
    In my requirement i need to pass the values from one program to another program.
    I am using SUBMIT statement . But , the program which i am calling has no selection screen.
    So how can i pass the values?
    Please help me ASAP.
    Regards,
    Bhanu.R

    Export your internal tables or work areas to a memory id in ur program before u use submit.
    Then in second pgm you have to import from memory id given above.
    example.
    EXPORT gs_header FROM gs_header to memory id 'HEADER'.
    EXPORT gt_item FROM gt_item to memory id 'ITEM'.
    SUBMIT YFIIN_DISHC_MAILREPORT EXPORTING LIST TO MEMORY AND RETURN.
    In your second pgm you can write
    import gs_header TO gs_header from MEMORY id 'HEADER'.
    import gt_item TO gt_item from MEMORY id 'ITEM'.

  • How do I copy the style from one control to another?

    I need to programmatically copy the style from one graph to another. I'm currently using the importstyle and export style functions but I'd like to avoid that since: 1) I'm creating >100 of the same graphs in a scrolling window and execution time is a concern, and 2) it makes it harder to redistribute the application, and 3) you shouldn't have to import/export from disk just to copy a graph style.
    I noticed the copy constructor was disabled so you can't just create a new one from the original. I suppose I could iterate through all the styles and transfer them from the master graph to all the copies but is there an easier way to do that? If not, is there some sample code for that?
    I'm using MStudio 7.0 for C
    ++.
    Thanks,
    -Bob

    One way that you could do this would be to create a helper method that configures your graph rather than configuring it at design-time, then use that helper method to apply the settings to the new graphs that you create. However, this would only work if you wanted all graphs to be configured exactly the same way - this would not work if the settings of your master graph are changing at run-time and you want the new graphs to be configured with the current settings of the master graph.
    Another approach is to query each control for IPersistPropertyBag, create an IPropertyBag, pass the IPropertyBag to the master graph's IPersistPropertyBag:ave, then pass the IPropertyBag to the new graph's IPersistPropertyBag::Load implementation. I'm not aware of any implementations of IPropertyBag that are readily available for use in applications, so the tricky part is creating the IPropertyBag. Below is a very simple implementation of IPropertyBag that should be enough to get the job done for this example. First, add this to your stdafx.h:
    #include <atlbase.h>
    CComModule _Module;
    #include <atlcom.h>
    #include <atlcoll.h>
    Here's the simple IPropertyBag implementation:
    class ATL_NO_VTABLE CSimplePropertyBag :
    public CComObjectRootEx<CComSingleThreadModel>,
    public IPropertyBag
    private:
    CAtlMap<CComBSTR, CComVariant> m_propertyMap;
    public:
    BEGIN_COM_MAP(CSimplePropertyBag)
    COM_INTERFACE_ENTRY(IPropertyBag)
    END_COM_MAP()
    STDMETHODIMP Read(LPCOLESTR pszPropName, VARIANT* pVar, IErrorLog* pErrorLog)
    HRESULT hr = E_FAIL;
    if ((pszPropName == NULL) || (pVar == NULL))
    hr = E_POINTER;
    else
    if (SUCCEEDED(::VariantClear(pVar)))
    CComBSTR key = pszPropName;
    CComVariant value;
    if (!m_propertyMap.Lookup(key, value))
    hr = E_INVALIDARG;
    else
    if (SUCCEEDED(::VariantCopy(pVar, &value)))
    hr = S_OK;
    return hr;
    STDMETHODIMP Write(LPCOLESTR pszPropName, VARIANT* pVar)
    HRESULT hr = E_FAIL;
    if ((pszPropName == NULL) || (pVar == NULL))
    hr = E_POINTER;
    else
    m_propertyMap.SetAt(pszPropName, *pVar);
    hr = S_OK;
    return hr;
    Once you have a way to create an implementation of IPropertyBag, you can use IPropertyBag and IPersistPropertyBag to copy the settings from one control to another like this:
    void CopyGraphStyle(CNiGraph& source, CNiGraph& target)
    LPUNKNOWN pSourceUnknown = source.GetControlUnknown();
    LPUNKNOWN pTargetUnknown = target.GetControlUnknown();
    if ((pSourceUnknown != NULL) && (pTargetUnknown != NULL))
    CComQIPtr<IPersistPropertyBag> pSourcePersist(pSourceUnknown);
    CComQIPtr<IPersistPropertyBag> pTargetPersist(pTargetUnknown);
    if ((pSourcePersist != NULL) && (pTargetPersist != NULL))
    CComObject<CSimplePropertyBag>* pPropertyBag = 0;
    CComObject<CSimplePropertyBag>::CreateInstance(&pPropertyBag);
    if (pPropertyBag != NULL)
    CComQIPtr<IPropertyBag> spPropertyBag(pPropertyBag);
    if (spPropertyBag != NULL)
    if (SUCCEEDED(pSourcePersist->Save(spPropertyBag, FALSE, TRUE)))
    pTargetPersist->Load(spPropertyBag, NULL);
    (Note that "CreateInstan ce" above should be CreateInstance - a space gets added for some unknown reason after I click Submit.)
    Then you can use this CopyGraphStyle method to copy the settings of the master graph to the new graph. Hope this helps.

    Hi,
    select * into A1 from RDOC where Author !='System'
    select *  into A2  from  RITM   where Doccode  in (select Doccode from A1 )
    select * from A1
    select * from A2
    sp_generate_inserts 'A1'
    sp_generate_inserts 'A2'
    you will get Insert scripts of A1 and A2 tables .After that You 'll  Replace A1 to RDOC and A2 to RITM.
    So that you can RUN this SQL srcipts any where (In any Database)
    but First u have to run sp_generate_inserts  Storeprocedure(from websites) .
    drop table A1,A2

  • To copy texbox value from one dataset to another in SSRS 2005

    Hi All,
    I have two Datasets
    The difference between this 2 dataset is
    DataSet1 gives data from filter Date1 and Date2 where Data1 and Date2 are the user entered dates
    Dataset2 gives data from filter Date1 and TodayDate wher Date1 is user entered date and TodayDate is Now()(Todays Date)
    I need to copy the textboxvalue from DataSet2 to Dataset1
    I tried using below expression in DataSet1
    'ReportItems!textbox173.Value'
    But gave the below error
    Any help much appreciated
    Thanks
    Pradnya07

    Hi Simran08,
    According to your description that you have two DataSets and three filters in the report:Date1,Date2,TodatDate, you trying to use the expression in the DataSet1’s table to get one TextBox’s value from DataSet2 which caused some error, right?
    I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue. The error caused by the expression “ReportItems!textbox173.Value“ you are using is not an supported function when getting dynamic values from another DataSet. Exactly, we already have the
    Lookup function as Visakh16 mentioned to do this copy, but this function supported in the SSRS 2008 R2 and the later version.
    So, I recommend that you to consider two methods below:
    If the two Datasets’s table have the same fields and you can join these two tables and create only one dataset.
    If you don’t want to follow step1, you can upgrade to the new version 2008  R2 or later version, then use the Lookup function to get the value from DataSet2.
    SQL Server 2008  R2 and later version, you can use a lookup function to get values from another dataset. You can find out more here:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms170438.aspx
    If your problem still exists, please feel free to ask.

  • Copy the data from one column to another column using @

    I have two columns here - A and B.
    Column A has a complicated formula that will generate results. I wanted the results in Column A to be reflected in Column B without pasting the A's formula in B. This will save me the trouble of editing formulas in more than 1 column if there is a need.
    I saw somewhere that you can use "@" in column B but I have no idea how to use it.
    Assumingly column A is the first column. I tried to insert '@1' in B's formula and change B's column properties' Data Format as "Treat Text as HTML". It does not work.
    Please advise how I can do that.

    So is there any way to copy the data in Column A into Column B without putting the same formula? something like in Excel where we put "=C1". Its not possible in BI as it comes in excel.....The only way is to create a duplicate column in RPD or Answers screen and incorporate the formula and giving different name to it.
    whats the problem if you duplicate the column with same formula?....Ok still if you dont want to see identical just write some pseudo logic say
    Duplicated column f(x) case when 1=0 then column_name else formula end.....so it appears different to see but it outputs same.
    UPDATED POST
    Dont create in RPD,you can create a dummy column in that report request and change the f(x) to the above case i mentioned by taking the column from columns button in edit formula screen so when ever you edit the actual column formula that would reflect in the dummy column also as it is replicating from original one.Try and see
    hope helps you.

  • Unable to pass the values from one report to another using navigation links

    Hi All,
    I am facing a strange issue where I have to pass a column value from one report to other.
    I have kept navigation link in the 1st report and 'is prompted' option in the 2nd report
    Issue was , I'm not getting the filtered result in the 2nd report (all the records are being displayed)
    Can anyone advice where I was going wrong
    Thank you,
    AO

    Hi,
    The column which you have given navigation link and 'is prompted' column should same and exist in both the reports.You have to give the guided navigation in the value interaction of the column in the report1.
    mark if helpful/correct.........

  • Copying position value from one layer to another

    Hy!
    This is Pierluig, from Italy.
    I'm a noob in after effect scripting language, but not so new to programming
    Anyway, this is the question:
    I have a composition with one layer on it. let's say firstlayer.
    The layer has two effects on it: topeffect and bottomeffect.
    Bottomeffect is an effect called (Transform).
    In my script, I want another layer (let's say secondlayer) to set his position from the position of the bottomeffects of the firstlayer.
    Problem is, the property "Position" of the secondeffect of the toplayer is calculated trough an expression.
    This expressions use a function, and this function is not recognized by the script language
    I've tried something like:
      var myArr = ["0","0"];
      myArr = firstlayer.property("Effects").property("(Transform)").property("Position");
      secondo.Position.setValue(time,myArr);
    And I got the error: Undefined, is not an object.
    I've tried lots, tons of variation, and i've got lots, tons of variation in the error message , but always an error.
    So the question is: how can i get my goal?
    And my goal is to say, trough a script, after effect to set a property to a layer copying that property from another layer, assuming the layer from wich i copy the property get the property values trough an expression.
    Hope I've been clear
    Any help will be reallyappreciated, and I'll remember the helpers in my pray
    Pierlu

    Hi Pierlu,
    You can use the valueAtTime() method to retrieve a value pre- or post-expression. Here's some sample code:
    var firstLayer = comp.layer("firstlayer");
    var secondLayer = comp.layer("secondlayer");
    var firstLayerPosition = firstLayer.property("Effects").property("Transform").property("Position").valueAtTime(0, false);
    secondLayer.position.setValue(firstLayerPosition);
    Hope this helps.

  • Passing the values from one application to another application using mvc

    Hi sdn,
    Iam new to bsp.i created one application zappl1 in that i created one controller and one view.in that view i created 2 input fields.and also  created another application zappl2 in that also created one controller and one view. wai i want to enter in the inputfileds of first application view that values will be display in second application view.Please help out of this.

    Hi,
    I can see 2 ways of doing. Either you use parameters in the URL from the first application to the second, as any web application would do.
    Or, you can think of using the Web Application Server let :
    - the first application store the values
    - for the second application to retrieve
    Personnally, I would tend to suggest the first solution as it allows both applications to be replaced later on.
    Best regards,
    Guillaume
