Could I have purchased an i7 13" MBP non-retina in-store?

Hey everyone!
Back in October, I purchased the 13" non-retina display MBP at my nearest Apple Store. I really wanted to get the higher-end i7 version (as it was listed on the website) but, I wasn't asked if I wanted to configure it to higher specs when I was in-store. At the time, I was only given the option between the retina and non-retina model so I went with the non-retina because it was cheaper but, I found out it only had an i5 processor. Now, I'm kinda stuck with the lowest-end mid-2012 MBP.
So, is configuring a MacBook Pro an online-only thing or could I have configured it in-store?

Hi d,
From everything I've ever read, seen, heard and experienced, you have to do a build-to-order Mac online, so don't beat yourself up.

Oh gosh, I saw the same issue. Because i was messing around with something earlier. I don't know why Apple took off the option of "none" as a payment since not everyone puts in a credit card and people use iTunes gift cards. I think they just made that changed recently. Anyways, Ive just found out about this new issue also, so i don't know what you could do... maybe call apple support?

Take it to an authorized service center or Apple Store in the country where the phone originated.  Apple does not sell iPhones in Pakistan, nor will they ship them to Pakistan.

  • What to buy: MBP (non-retina) 2.3ghz or 2.6ghz

    hello
i'm going to study architecture this year and I need a new laptop.
I'm not sury what to take:
The MBP (non-retina) 2.3ghz (and upgrade the ram to 8 by myself) or the 2.6ghz?
is the 2.6ghz worth the extra money
Please help me! (i'm sorry for my bad english)

You didn't buy from a good source.
Crucial.com is Micron, they make the memory and it's heavily tested beforehand, so it's top tier RAM they sell, also Apple buys it.
I've upgraded dozens of machines and not once has Crucial RAM failed and required a replacement.
The RAM that one gets from other places is often second tier RAM, so the middle man makes a buck but your more likely to get bad RAM.
And if you shop bargin basement, your almost sure to get crappy RAM.

Is there a Power Nap update for the mid-2012 15" MBP (non-Retina) with SSD?  The Retina version is not compatible

You hit the nail on the head, only retina mbp and the air support Power nap, something to do with flash etc

  • 2.3 vs 2.6 MBP non-retina

Has anyone chosen to pay the extra money for the (slightly) faster new non-retina MBP?  Only way to get 1gb video memory, but really bumps the price up.  I have no operational reason to get it, but am thinking it would help 'future proof' the MBP.  Anyone gone that way, or thinking of it?

You will need a USB display adapter http://www.displaylink.com/shop/adapters

  • MBP non-Retina & Thunderbolt monitors

Considering purchasing the non-retina MBP and was wondering if there were any limitations having one Thunderbolt port over the two that the retina version has.
Can two 27" Thunderbolt displays be connected to the non-retina version as long as I purchase the 1GB video card model? Is there a problem connecting a TB hard drive to this set-up down the road?

You can connect up to two Thunderbolt displays. No issues with connecting a hard drive.

    Hi DirtyDirk,
If you are having issues booting past the Apple screen after an update, you may want to try a Safe Boot. If Safe Boot doesn't resolve the issue, you may need to do a Recovery. You may find the following articles helpful:

  • I have purchased an app, Jelly Defense, from the app store.  It says downloaded on the computer but does not show up at all on the iPod.  Restrictions are on and ready to receive.  The Wi Fi says it's on too

The Wi Fi is on, but the app doesn't even show up onthe device.  On my computer in purchased, it shows it's downloaded.  Now what?

The requirements for that app state that you need a 3rd-generation or 4th-generation iPod touch, with iOS 4.2 or later. Is what what you have?

  • Question regarding the IR receiver on the 2012 MBP non retina.

    Hello!
I recently purchased a 2012 MBP this month.  While cleaning it using a soft cloth, I noticed that there were tiny scratches on the tinted plastic covering the IR receiver.  I have never taken my MBP out of my house and has mainly been used on a desk.  I was just wondering if anyone also had scratches on the tinted plastic besides the scratches due to normal use.
    Thanks!

Does anyone not have an IR receiver on their MBP?

  • Is it possible to install Lion on a new MBP (non-retina)?

From what I can conclude, there doesn't seem to be any way to install Lion on a brand new MBP with Mountain Lion pre-installed (purchased today). I have the Lion installer but only for a MacPro, so presumably that won't work. Has anyone found a way to do this?

While it's probably unlikely to work, if you can find someone with the same generation MBP that shipped with Lion you can have them install Lion to an empty external drive and you can try booting from that. You will need the specific version of Lion to these system that cannot be downloaded from the App Store and currently must be installed from an Internet Recovery. If you can boot then you should be able to clone that to your internal drive and be on your merry way.
There is a little crossover where systems that shipped with ML will in fact boot Lion depending on when they were actually manufactured. Hopefully yours is one of them.

  • Is there a way to connect 1 external thunderbolt display and 1 external HDMI display to a mid 2012 MBP (non-retina display)?

I've had a 24" Asus HDMI montitor for a while, and just got a 27" Apple thunderbolt display. I was wondering if there was a way to connect both of these to my mid-2012 Macbook Pro (non-retina). I know you can daisy-chain 2 thunderbolt displays, so I tried plugging my Asus into the thunderbolt display (using an HDMI to mini-display port adapter) and it didn't work. Suggestions??

Mini DisplayPort displays and adapters don't work directly with a Thunderbolt display, but will if you connect a Thunderbolt disk drive (with two Thunderbolt ports) between the Thunderbolt display and the Mini DisplayPort device.

If the installer's on your computer, double-click it and follow the onscreen directions. If not, log into the Mac App Store with the Apple ID used to buy it, click on the Purchases tab, and download it.
