Dreamweaver cs5.5 workspace layout not correct

I have recently gotten Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5 for my online courses and for manipulation of my website, and it does not seem to have the correct workspace layout as shown in most all tutorials in its use. An example of what I mean:

Is what mine looks like, and I do not know how to get the setup from the first screenshot for my Dreamweaver.... Any help would be golden, and thanks in advance!!

The screen you are seeing is called the 'Welcome screen' and is the fist screen that DW shows when it opens. The top screen is with a document open.
Can I suggest that you read through the pdf 'manual' or a good introductory book for DW before proceeding further, otherwise you will find DW very difficult to use/learn.

Workspace layout not being saved

After the latest update to CC2014, the workspace no longer remembers my layout even though I save and sync. What happens is everytime I open an html file it splits the code & design(and live) views horizontally. With a wide screen this doesn't make sense, I want the screen split vertically with the code on the left. That means everytime I open an HTML file I have to change the split view and where the design/live view displays.
How do I correct this to save my preference or is this a bug?

Did you Delete Preferences & create a new custom workspace?

Dreamweaver CS5 suddenly does not start up

Not sure if this is related, but earlier today I did a Microsoft Update on this Windows 2003 Server and re-booted as requested.
When trying to start Dreamweaver, no error message shows on the screen. The Dreamweaver process shows for a couple of seconds in Task Manager then disappears. There is no trace in Event Viewer.

When DW starts acting weird, the first thing to try is Deleting Corrupted Cache in DW

If that doesn't help, try Restore Preferences - this will wipe out any installed extensions and personal settings you may have.

Dreamweaver CS5 (Windows) does not remember ftp username and password

I have seen this problem mentioned in other threads concerning Mac instalations of Dreamweaver, but this is a Windows installation. I recently installed DW CS5, and it refuses to remember the ftp username and password after I quit the program and restart it later. This was never a problem with CS3. It is extremely annoying. Any suggestions?

OK, got it fixed. Even though it said it was pointed to the correct directory in "local site folder" I picked it again and then it said something like "rebuilding cache". and it worked.

Dreamweaver CS5 Mac does not remember which items belong to which site after restore * Desperate

OK so I hope I can explain this OK.
I needed my HD changed by Apple. So I cloned my drive twice (2 full backups).
Once I cloned the drive back to the newly installed drive everything seemed OK until I opened Dreamweaver. When the "welcome screen" opens up I click on index.html for one of my sites ( I run 3 ) and it shows the path to it and says it's "not found" well I double checked the exact path it lists and the file is there.
So I figure no problem I will just use Open and I opened the index file, made my changes, saved and when to go "Put" but it's grayed out. I clicked "Manage Sites" and all my sites are listed.
So after searching I thought it was a bad site file, I restored it from another backup (Macintosh HD:Users:<username>:Library:Application Support:Adobe:Common:11:Sites:Site Prefs)
But still same thing.
I need some serious help as I need to modify my sites a few times a week. I just don't know what I am missing. Everything is where it should be but Dreamweaver acts like it's not.
Any help??

Customizing the Dreamweaver CS5 workspace

The look and feel of your work in design view is derived from the styles you have used. Perhaps, you need to look at the font styles of your document. The instructions will create default fonts and size but as you may know, these can be over-ridden by the user using CSS.
Perhaps you should explicitly enter the font family and font size (if these are not in your styles) to have any visual impact in your design window. Aso make sure the fonts you use are already installed on your system, otherwise it would be a futile exercise.

Dreamweaver CS5 ftp does not work after my host server was updated

I'm on an iMac running Mavericks.
I'm using Dreamweaver CS 5.5 from the creative suite.
Suddenly the FTP function in Dreamweaver does not work.
My website host stated that they were forced to upgrade their server software for FTP and the Dreamweaver was not compatible.
Will there be an upgrade soon to resolve the problem? I'm having to use Filezilla to upload/download files from my site and it's a real pain compared to just using Dreamweaver.
Please help ASAP! Thanks.

DWCS5.5 hasn't received an update in years and is no longer supported by Adobe. The chances of there being an update for any new compatibility issue is pretty much slim to none.
If (and it's a big if) your hosting company actually did something that made DW itself incompatible with the server, you would just have to use some other FTP program, like the free Filezilla client, to do your uploads.
Not a big deal, just a small extra step.

Dreamweaver CS5 with PHP, not getting it to work with virtual Host

I have not got far with the book so far. I am still on the second chapter where you set the Virtual Host but after setting up the Dreamweaver site definition and doing the test. I get the error that page cannot be found.
I ask if I can mail the text file of the http.conf and the httpd-vhosts.conf to anyone to see if I screwed up somewhere . I am running on Windows 7 with the WAMP setup.

I used your included file httpd-vhosts.conf. And it did something since now I get a new set of errors.

But I checked the properties of the folders and unchecked the 'read only' permission but still gets checked again. I am using Windows 7 64-bit.
I checked on the web nobody says any solutions about it, they only imply that is a permissions issue.

Dreamweaver CS5 (windows versionl) not openoing :(

Recently we upgraded to CS5 web premium. All the application is working fine except Dreamweaver.
Initially it was opening for couple of times but afterward when we start the application nothing is happening.

I've run into the same issue. I've taken the steps in the suggested links with no success. I just loaded the software, all ofther programs work. I have admin rights which I hear could have been an issue.
The image below shows the screen that blinks. It's too fast to capture easily. It's probably no help, but I had to get it.
Any input on solving this?

Bridge CS5 file associations not correct...

When I try to open an office 2007 document, the default application is set to Thunderbird and when I try to edit it in the Edit>Preverences>File Type Associations, it isn't listed at all. My OS default applicaions for Office 2007 files are all correct, it's just Bridge that I have the problem. Any ideas?

The file properties are correctn and the files open in the oppropriate program when opened via double clicking in Explorer, it's only in Bridge that I have the problem. If I right click the file in Bridge, I have the choice of the correct application and then underneath, Thunderbird (default). So the option is there, it just won't let me make it the default. As seen below...

Dreamweaver CS5 Extension Manager not working?

I have just installed a new extension, when I have tried to disable another extension the extension manager doesn't work and show any of my extensions?
I go to Commands > Manage Extensions, it runs but just shows the Extension Manager title and only access to the 'About Extension Manager' which doesn't display anything. When I quit either by the Menu or Cmd + Q it doesn't only when I Quit from the Dock does it quit?
I am up to date with all updates?
What can I try?

If Extension Manager doesn't load properly, you might try disabling the newly installed extension via the command line.

To access the command line:
In Windows, open the command prompt by selecting Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
In Mac OS, open Terminal by double-clicking its icon in the Applications/Utilities folder.

Advice on Dreamweaver CS5.5

I have spent 35 minutes attempting to purchase Dreamweaver CS5.5 from the Adobe site. The main page would not allow a change of country from USA and when I found an Australian download page Dreamweaver CS5.5 was not listed. I used the 'Send an email" option without success.
Please advise my best next move.

Adobe has never allowed the correct exchange rate to be applied to product purchases outside the US, and it is one of the major reason that many people outside the US look for alternatives, (even microsoft stopped this type of policy years ago), and if you look at the UK purchase site, downloads cost more than the boxed version!
Macromedia did allow the correct exchange rate to be applied when one purchase from their site, so in my opinion this is just an Adobe profiteering scam, But that's just my opinion.

If you were previously using those pathetic MM-Rollover menus from a previous version of DW, you need to replace them ASAP. They don't work.

Dreamweaver CS5 opens and then crashes..

I have a problem with Dreamweaver CS5. The program will start and then it will crash and stop. I have searched the internet and found that i'm not the only one with this issue. There is a patch to install that should fix the problem. After doing so the problem is not solved. Dreamweaver CS5 is still not working. I can't find anything that will help to solve my problem. Can anybody tell me how to fix this problem..?

I can't locate the file. I searched the whole computer for 'MacFileCache'. Also no file name in the application folder Dreamweaver.
All files are visible in the finder. I previously reinstalled Dreamweaver but no succes..
Any other ideas?

I entered http://localhost in my browser and recieved the following page:
Asd you can see everything is working. I thought that when you called local host, it went to the www/ directory where I have my sites
I still don't see a problem with my settings
