i want to implement EP and integrate it into either DMS or content server..could you please let me know
1)what is the difference between content server and DMS server? where we have to use these server?
2) need the configuration steps for the EP to integrate with either DMS or Content server..

Firstly, there is some difference between both content server and dms server i try explain about the difference:
1.The DMS transactions run on the ECC system, but the documents can be stored on the content server.
2.Tx CV04N is used to select the document and a the documents is retrieved from the content server.

Trouble with Content Server connection

I am having an issue with content server on Unix. I'm finished with content server install and need to connect my ABAP system to it via CSADMIN. But when I first enter CSAdmin, I give it my host and port. What is the unix http script name for the default install??? Only the Windows name - ContentServer.dll - is populated? What is the web address to get to the content server?
http://<host>:<port>/???????
Do I need to do something with OAC0 and SICF first, before going to CSADMIN. The guide does not mention anything?

Hi. I dont know obout CS on UNIX, on windows CS uses port 1090 and HTTP script ContentServer/ContentServer.dll
The web page is

              The "/ContentServer/ContentServer. dll" and "/Cache/CSProxyCache.dll" paths have since been established as fixed default values for the Content Server/Cache Servers for Windows.
              The module access in the Apache Web server is not restricted to actual paths for program files. Using <location> tags, you can determine any (sub)paths that are to be used to access a module. These tags are entered in the "httpd.conf" file within the relevant module configurations. You can also define the clients allowed to access this "location" within a <location> tag with an Allow/Deny clause.
              To be able to continue using the Windows paths proposed in the SAP system, these Windows paths are installed as compatibility tags.
              In addition to this, you can use the new, essentially shorter paths "/sapcs" and /sapcsc" to access the SAP Content Server and the SAP Cache Server.
              The "Modifications to httpd. conf" attachment to the installation manual contains a list of all of the access paths delivered.

Webdav is not working with content server 11g

whenever I try to go to the webdav url in content server 11g (http://host:port/idc/idcplg/webdav) I got the following error:

Be sure you enable the Desktop Integration Suite in the Content Server Admin module.

Problem with Content Server 4 keystore access on Ubuntu 8.04

I've created operator.p12 according to the instructions in the Quickstart guide
and placed it in /etc where it is accessible by the server. I used OpenSSL 0.9.8k

Will Adobe Reader 7.0.9 or 7.1.0 work with Content Server 4?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A75-S213 laptop, Intel Pentium 4, 1 GB RAM, Windows XP Home.
I've purchased ebooks from SimonSays.com several times over the course of 2008; each time, my Adobe Reader 7.0.9 was able to open the "ebx.etd" file and able to access the ebooks without any problems.
However, the last purchase I made around a week ago keeps leading to me downloading ".acsm" files, which Adobe Reader 7.0.9 (or Adobe Reader 7.1.0) doesn't recognize and can't open.
I contacted SimonSays.com and they suggested that I download Adobe Digital Editions. I don't know if that will solve the problem or not.
I've done some of my own research and found that between my last purchase in early September and the one I made in early October, Adobe changed their Content Server from Version 3 to Version 4? Does that explain why I can't even download the "ebx.etd" files from ebooks I've already downloaded in the past, but instead, get ".acsm" files instead for those ebooks that I've downloaded before?
I take it then that Adobe Reader 7 (any version) can no longer read ebooks you purchase from retailers such as SimonSays.com and that you have to use Adobe Digital Editions instead? I even upgraded from Adobe Reader 7.0.9 to Adobe Reader 7.1.0, thinking that would do the trick, but it's still downloading ".acsm" files.
I did authorize Adobe Reader back in January (which is why I could download and read the ebooks from my previous purchases); I know I ran antivirus and anti-spyware software and wasn't sure whether I deleted something that might have caused this problem, but I know that I've run those same programs and never had this problem before now. Do I have to reauthorize Adobe Reader somehow, and if so, how? I log into Adobe and get that "Eden.ui" zipped file, but putting that into the folder with the ".acsm" file doesn't allow Adobe Reader to open it and read it.
Therefore, is there any way to keep using Adobe Reader 7.1.0 to read my future ebook purchases or is the only way to read ebooks from now on is via Adobe Digital Editions? And if I download Adobe Digital Editions, is it better to keep Adobe Reader 7.1.0 on my system or should I upgrade to Adobe Reader 8 or 9?
I'd greatly appreciate any and all advice on this, as I can't open ebooks I've purchased, and I'm pretty sure there are no refunds for ebook purchases (though I'd prefer to be able to purchase and read ebooks in the future) - thank you.

You will need to install Adobe Digital Editions which will solve this issue. .acsm files only open with Digital Editions. Also, if you import all of your previously purchased books with Digital Editions, they will be migrated automatically. Digital Editions can be downloaded for free from:

DMS link with content server

Hi All,
Plz let me know that how the DIR is getting path of content server where it needs to get saved.
Means i want to know that where we have to put the path of Content server into the system(SPRO) .I found some place to put the same in "Define Data Carrier" but still i am not getting that how the DIR if finding that particular path..how it is linked as we put only Storege category during CV01N not datacarrier anywhere.

Content servers are used to save large quantities of documents, either within SAP Media on the SAP database, or in an external system via an SAP-certified interface. The Document Modeling Workbench in SAP Media is structured so that one document class (for example, a physical storage place) is available for each business object. A content server therefore contains one memory space for every business object. In SAP Media Systems, documents are stored in the SAP Media database or on an external content server.
Using Content Server with database storage gives you a very stable, secure and fast environment. You can store documents in R/3 as well, but that is really only a good solution for few documents.

Dear Experts,
I have few queries regarding Content server,
As i know content server is used to store documents of any type , like Autocad, Primevera,word, excel etc....
when we install content server do we need to install the , Autocad, Primevera,excel ..etc....on the client or server side. how its going to support these file types.
secondly i came to know that content server 6.4 can be install on unix, if so then do we need to install Autocad ,primevera,excel in unix enviroment.

Another things is that all ECC servers Dev ,Qas and Prd are on AIX, and customer wants to install content server on windows, can it be possible.

SRM and SAP DMS Content server integration.

We are having a requirement to maintain the External documents (relating to Shopping Cart and POs) of SRM in the DMS content server,
is this possible? if so what is the methord that should be used to connect SRM and DMS Content server.

also we would love to make use of DMS funtionality for maintaining documents in SRM, which i tought is not at all possible as we could not run any of the DMS Transaction in SRM like CV01N /2 /3/ 4, is there any way to integrate DMS and SRM.

If i understand your question correctly you want to transfer documents which are attached at the shopping cart level in SRM to flow in to ECC at PR or PO level? If that the case following steps require to have documents flow into ECC.
SRM Side:
Implement BADI BBP_CREATE_BE_RQ_NEW (If you are on classic scenario i.e. Shopping cart to PR creation) or BBP_CREATE_BE_PO_NEW (For extended classic) with following code:
cs_ctrl_att-BE_DOC_TYPE = 'SRM'.
cs_ctrl_att-BE_storage_cat = 'DMS_C1_ST'.
cs_ctrl_att-TRANSFER_ACTIVE = 'X'.
ECC Side:
-Create new document type for SRM with T.code DC10. Following parameters need to be set for that
a.     Check Use KPro
b.     Check Version Assignment
c.     Check Change Docs
d.     Assign Internal number range as u201C02u201D and external number range as u201C01u201D
e.     Select Number Exit u201CMCDOKZNRu201D
f.     Version number increment u201C1u201D
g.     File Size u201C10000000u201D

TMSXE with Content Server (TCS)

I have new install TelePresence Content Server.
Existing system have TMS, TMSXE and it's working fine. I can booking endpoint, MCU via microsoft outlook.
I can manually calling to recording server and it can record normally.
Currently I would like to add TCS to TMSXE same as all endpoints which it will mapping with mailbox on Microsoft Exchange but it display error as picture.
I'm not sure what is the solution for TMSXE with Recording server (TCS).

we do have the same problem with connecting TCS and TMS via TMSXE.
We tried with h323 and without, SIP alias, SIP device alias, .... no success.
If there is no h323 address the TCS can't even be booked in TMS directly. As soon as the TCS has a h323 registration (Gateway in our case) you can book it in TMS. But TMSXE is still not working.
To make sure it's not an Exchange issue we tried to connect a SX20 to the Exchange resource and it worked fine. As soon as you try to connect the TCS to the Exchange calendar and hit on save the error appears.

Problems with Content Server 4 Operator Enrollment

Hello,
we just bought ACS4 and are trying to install it.
Paragraph 7.4.1 of the user manual says:
Start operatorClient and then login as prompted with the AdobeID and password that you were sent after your purchased
Adobe Content Server 4. This is the Adobe ID of the form [email protected]
We were never sent that AdobeID, so I tried the AdobeId and pwd we used to buy ACS4 to no avail, (I got an E_ADEPT_USER_UNKNOWN error)
I also tried to contact [email protected] but never received an answer.
We bought ACS4 online, downloaded it and tried to install it. Do we need to do something to receive this AdobeID?

Yes, I´ve installed on windows server 2008 the content server without DB only and no cache.
Then , I´ve created the content repository in OAC0 with this data:
Document Area : Empty
Storage type: HTTP Content Server
HTTP Server: hostname.es
serv http:prt: hotname.so:1090
Script http: /ContentServer/ContentServer.dll
Sent the certificate to the content server.
I moved to CSAADMIN. there I´ve set all the parameters, certificate activation and created the repository.
When I go to the details tab I can check the content server patche level, version etc... also I´ve activated the certificate .
In the content server if set the property security to 0.
I´ve added the new repository to the tx OAC3.
Also I´ve executed the report RSCMST and this error appears: create tab content storage, connect error sqlconnect failed

Problems with Content Server

I installed content server, when I access using the port of Apache Server I can log in.
But, if I use the port 4440
I get the following:
Network message format error. Unable to parse browser environment or content item.
Unable to parse properties. Name-value pairs are missing an '='.
So, I only entered using the Apache Server port and when I checked in a document I could
not make it and get this:
Content Server Request Failed
Unable to execute service CHECKIN_NEW and function Imeta.
(System Error: Unable to execute query 'Imeta(insert into DocMeta (dID, xComments, xDiscussionCount, xDiscussionType, xPartitionId, xWebFlag, xStorageRule) values(1, '', 0, 'N/A', '', '', ''))'. ORA-00904: "XSTORAGERULE": invalid identifier)

DIS 11g with Content Server 10gR3

I believe that you can use the new 11g DIS client on legacy 10gR3 environments.
My questions is, do I just use the 11g client on its own, or should I load the 11g DIS component into the 10gR3 environment as well?
I cannot find any official doco on this, and there aren't any release notes witht he 11g DIS download.

You need to have the DIS component for 11g on UCM 10gR3 as well as the DIS 11g client to get the functionalities in complete . DIS version for 11g is 9.0.0.1173 . I have just finished doing this and see that the content retrieval and other functionalities are working perfectly fine .

Customize the appearance of Content Server pages with hcsf and idoc?

I've read through the documentation here:

and can create a simple form using hcsf and idoc.
Here's what I would really like to do:
I would like to create very streamlined forms that support the following Content Server functions:
1. Document Search
2. Document Checkout
3. New Document Add
4. Display of Search results
What I mean by streamlined is this: no tool bars of any kind, no decorations, just the bare minimum to support the above mentioned functions.
My questions:
Is this even possible?
Are there examples of this anywhere?
Is there further documentation about using hcsf and idoc to integrate with Content Server functions?

try adding &coreContentOnly=1 to the end of the URL and see if that does the trick for you.
This prevents the std_page_begin and std_page_end includes from being executed/displayed which removes the toolbars etc.
Using profiles and rules you can control the rest of the search and checkin form layout and look/feel.

The error is happening while executing RSCMST report. Content Server installation and configuration finished successfully. I installed for 3 server, 2 of them don't have this kind of issue. Please need your expertise on this.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion. I've read the mentioned OSS last time while I was having the related issue. Now the issue had been solved by reinstall the content server. I though I did the wrong step while installing or upgrading the MaxDB.

Plumtree - IIS and Content server - tomcat

Can you please let me know that I have installed the plumtree on IIS. Now I have to install Collaboration 3.01 and Content Server. But the content server and Collaboration can be installed on following servers
- Weblogic
- Tomcat
- Websphere
Then can you please let me know how do plumtree installed on IIS will interact with Content server and Collaboration. IS there any way. This is very critical please reply soon.

That means that you have to have Tomcat, WebLogic, or WebSphere running and hosting those applications. Portal server can run on IIS. Portal interacts with Collab (as well as content, workflow, your portlets, Lotus notes integration, and many more) through http. The Portal makes a request to collab for content. Collab receives that request and processes it. The results are returned (Response) to the portal and the portal renders them as needed.
To re-phrase, IIS do not interact with Collab or Content servers. Portal does, and it interacts using HTTP.
