ESAPI validator in CF9.

Hi all
Does anybody use the ESAPI validator in CF9.
How to use the customized the validation.properties file for the my own application?

Did you ever get any feedback on this or have you implemented any of the validator methods? I am searching around and not really finding any examples either.

Issues with WebForm performance

Hi,
We had migrated a new application from UAT to PROD and we encounter webform performance issues with the following actions..
After login, the first form you open it is
always slow. After this you can switch from one form to another without a
delay.
Then once you change any data – the next time
you access a form it gets delayed.
The point to be noted is, it doesnt have any performance issues in the UAT environment and the configuration settings,essbase cache settings are all the same. We did try to move the EPM system to a new server to see if this is a hardware issue but no luck, the performance issues still exist. The consumption of the CPU/memory has been checked and it is proved that the form opening delay has nothing to do with lack of memory.
The JVM head settings is set up at 4GB which is infact higher than that of the UAT environment(2GB).
runs on Windows server2008,11.1.2.1.600 EPM serve, has planning,reporting,foundation on one server (32GB ram) and essbase on another server (32GB ram). Any help is appreciated.

Business Rules in Planning 11.1.2.1 - Cannot connect to Planning

Hi,
I started experiencing some problems today in forms with Business Rules. I don't really know how it happened, but I noticed after a Refresh and after stopping CalcManager service (business rules run on this service?). Either way I restarted the EPM System and the error persists.
When I ented in any form with business rules i get the error: An error occured, in a white background.

I'm still having this problem. I checked that RMI is running but whenever I try to enter in Planning the logs write that it can't connect to the eas database, and HBRPluginData relational table isn't being filled.

[problem] Access to BI-Publisher 11g is always "anonymous"

Hi,
I have a problem using the BIP-WebApplication:
BIP 11.1.1.3 is installed successful.
Login to http://<my_machine>:9704/xmlpserver/servlet/home is possible, but only with "anonymous" user. No Login prompt available.
The signout link does not work, I will be redirected (again) to anonymous workspace...
Any help?

What's on lines 1-7 of that file?
That code compiles fine for me on CF8 & CF9, so that's not where the error is.
You're not trying to compile it on any earlier version of CF than CF8 are you? The < and ++ operators are not valid prior to CF8. CFMX7 might see the < as a stray angle bracket, and get confused. I don't have CFMX7 running here to test the exact error that would produce, sorry.

Mappings don't allow periods in CF9 - is there a workaround?

We're in the process of upgrading from a (very) old version of Coldfusion to Coldfusion 9. Some of our code/apps use mappings that have a period "." in them. For example, here's what I'm trying to do:
If I try to map "/test.com" to "d:\path\test.com" I get a "please enter a valid name for the mapping" error. We definitely had mappings with periods in our old Coldfusion stuff:
I am hoping that this is just an interface limitation in CF9 and that there's some way I can add these mappings into the new version (otherwise we have a LOT of changes to make!).

I think Coldfusion 9 is justified to penalize that. The name test.com is ambiguous. So, too, is d:\path\test.com.
Is test.com the name of a directory or is com a subdirectory of test? Suppose myComponent.cfc is in d:\path\test.com. Then it will be mapped to test.com.myComponent. This suggests the structure test/com/myComponent.cfc, which is wrong, for you intended test.com to be just a name.
I think you should make the changes. Use the search facility in Eclipse, and it will be a straightforward task.

Cfmap with CF9.01 and Google map v3

The information I've seen indicates there is a hotfix for CF9.01 which will allow the cfmap tag to work with Google maps v3. We have installed the latest hot fixes.
I obtain an error when trying to use the Google maps v3 API key with the cfmap tag indicating you are trying to use a non v2 key. Google is discontinuing support of v2 on Nov 19.
Is there something else we need to do to be able to use cfmap with v3? Do we need to upgrade to CF9.02?
Upgrading to CF10 prior to Nov 19 is not an option.
Does anyone have sample code to share?

CF9: Unable to install ODBC service

I am trying to install CF9 (developer edition) in Tomcat 7 as a .war file on Windows XP (32-bit). I go through the installation process to generate the cfusion.war file without any problems. I place the cfusion.war file in my webapps directory and start Tomcat. The server comes up fine - still no issues.

Well, I found this link (http://www.elliottsprehn.com/cfbugs/bugs/79023) that suggests installing JRun. It's almost the exact same problem I have. So I did that.
When I now try to start the server I get an Error 193. In the event log, I see this:
The ColdFusion 9 ODBC Server service failed to start due to the following error:
ColdFusion 9 ODBC Server is not a valid Win32 application.
It looks like progress, but I'm still not there yet.
I have verified that I have downloaded 32-bit versions of both ColdFusion and JRun. And I am running on a 32-bit system (XP). So I'm not sure where exactly this error is coming from or what it means.
Help?!?

CF9 Upgrade Serial won't accept CF7 Serial - Adobe WORST support ever

After over 5 hours of being passed on from one division to another at Adobe phone support, I am amazed at the lack of understanding most of the techs on the phone have had and the inability of a single one of them to get me the support person who can solve this...
We have CF9 Server running in trial mode. We have purchased the CF9 Upgrade. We had CF7 for years. When we take the two serials (new CF9 and old CF7) and try to apply them in the CF Admin, we get:
"This combination of license keys does not constitute a valid upgrade."
One of the many techs I have spoken with in the past 5 hours said it was because our CF7 serial was an older one... he didn't know who to contact though and passed me onto someone else who knew even less.
Note, when I asked who I can contact to put a complaint in, I was told there is no electronic way to put a complaint in... only via regular letter. Wow.... guess they really don't want to hear from anyone that unhappy with their services? Isn't the idea of Acrobat PDF to go paperless?!?
Is there no one at Adobe who can solve this most basic issue?!?!?!
ADOBE, HELP?!?!?!?!

Took over 7 hours on the phone today but after being passed back and forth beetween 10 to 12 (lost count near the end...) adobe tech support people, I finally was given a different number to call for Tier 2 tech support. Instead of the usual 40 minute plus hold time, I got someone on the phone right away and he stuck with it for 30 minutes till it was solved. He was much more technically proficient and was able to think through the issue instead of using canned scripts.
For reference, even though the message was about the license keys not being valid for upgrade, the actual issue was a file permission issue on the license.properties file. I was logged in as an account that is part of the administrators group and it was the same account I did the original installation with, but had to modify the permissions on that one file to give the user account direct permissions. The error message was just misleading...
So to adjust, level 1 support at Adobe is definitely worst I have ever encountered. Tier 2 support actually did a great job.

CF9 Admin Error when using 'View Undelievered Mail'

When using the 'View Undelieverd Mail' button in the CF9 Admin Mail page I get the following alert box error:
Error invoking CFC /CFIDE/administrator/mail/undeliveredmail.cfc: Client verification failure.
Accepting the dialog box then loads the page with the standard CF error with this:
Client verification failure.
You must have a valid login to access this page.

Agree since View Undelivered Mail works for me on a CF9.0.1 system and also CF9.0.1 with CHF1. I think one of the patches contained in http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/907/cpsid_90784.html is the cause as View Undelivered Mail fails for me on hf901-00002.jar updated server.

Why is HTML showing in the form validation message?

Here is what is showing when I use server side form validation.
<ul><li>You must select a location </li></ul> Go <a href="javascript:history.back()">back</a> and correct the problem.
Obviously, the HTML tags are not supposed to be shown. What's going on here? I just upgraded to CF9 on Linux and this started happening. Any ideas?

It's a standard CF server-side form validation and looks like this on the form:
<input type="hidden" name="somefield_required" value="some field is a required field">
When they submit the form (and didn't enter something for somefield), the automatic message comes up. The formatting of the message is messed up on CF9. I've been using this type of server-side validation for years (probably since CF5) and have never seen this problem before.
Actually, this works fine on another server (CF 9,0,0,251028) but on CF 9,0,1,274733 it is having this issue. Both are running CF Enterprise on Linux.
Error message is supposed to look like this:
Form entries are incomplete or invalid.
some field is a required field
Go back and correct the problem.
The messed up message looks like this:
Form entries are incomplete or invalid.

Validation turned off - still getting a validation message

CF9 (NOT CF901), no hotfixes, no updates, no patches.
CFFORM with name and ID parameters, nothing else.
Form contains two text fields (both are used for date in MM/DD/YYYY format),
     six checkboxes (all unique name/id), two radio (both same name/id), and a submit button.
The text fields, checkboxes, and radio are all <INPUT>, the submit is <CFINPUT>.
NONE of the names/ids contain underscore or hyphen or anything other than
     alpha characters (not even numbers.)
Regardless of whether the "Start Date" is 1/1/2011 or 01/01/2011, when the submit
     button is clicked, an alert box will display "Invalid Start Date Format. Use MM/DD/YYYY",
     and the form will submit, anyway.
There is not any JavaScript validation; there are no parameters or settings asking CF to validate.
Has anyone else run across this "ghost" validation error?

Argh... CS5 and still need to install CF9 extensions manually!?

I just installed my copy of Creative Suite 5. I use Dreamweaver primarily, but do a lot of work coding ColdFusion 9 applications.
Seriously? No CF9 tag support in CS5? I STILL have to download an extension that doesn't even work 100% and still creates code errors to be able to code CF9 using Dreamweaver? What a pain in the ***.
Come on Adobe... you can't even integrate your own products into each other properly?
Test example:
Install CS5
Open Dreamweaver
Type <cfcontinue> (a new to CF9 tag).
Result: Dreamweaver won't recognize it as a valid tag.
Workaround attempt:
Download and install the CF9 extenstions for Dreamweaver (which were not developed by Adobe, if I recall correctly.)
Open Dreamweaver
Type <cfcontinue>
Result: Even with the extensions installed, CF9 tags are not always supported.

I disagree with the "flexibility" response for the need of a plug in. If only being able to install extensions for the things you need were the case, then there would be NO built in languages installed. There are HUNDREDS of features built into Dreamweaver that I do not need, and will never use. They exist because somebody, somewhere needs it. It seems foolish that the functionality they elect not to include is the functionality that is required by another one of Adobe's products.
But I can live with that... as long as the extension is of decent quality and works exactly as I need it to. The current plug in for Dreamweaver for CF9 is poor quality.
Example 1: It doesn't recognize the cfcontinue tag. (What good is a version plug in if it doesn't support all of the tags in the version?)
Example 2: Open a new file. Type <cfgrid>. Right click and select "edit tag", give the grid a name and click "Ok". You get a CF error saying that the tag does not support the attribute "COLAPSIBLE". The plug in writes code that doesn't work!
I can keep going... I can think of at least four more instances where the plug in writes incorrect code, extraneous attributes, or won't recognize valid tags.
(By the way, some of the errors in the plug in were reported when the CF8 plug in was introduced, and the exact same errors carried over to the CF9 plug in.)
So even if I were to buy that the plug in gives me more flexibility to have only what I want installed with the program, it doesn't change the fact that the plug in itself sucks.
