Exception not catched when closing dialog

Hi,
When I close one of my dialog (JDialog), this exception is raised. None of
the classes from Exception trace are mine (they are all from javax or java)
. How can I catch or avoid this exception??

Hey,
I doubt this stack trace is gonna be much help to anyone.
Are you performing any clean up operations when you close your dialog.?
You may well be, at any point in the dialog's life time, setting some field or value of a default Swing class to null. Or inadvertently passing a variable that evaluates to null, although it may not appear to you that it is in fact null.
I fear you will have to start from the beginning of your code and analyse all the setXxxx() methods you call and be sure you are not in one-way-or-another passing any null values.
For some methods null parameters maybe legal. However if that value is retreived by some other class and used but can not handle null values it will throw the exception.
Imagine you set a JTable to use a grid of values litered with null values. It may not complain (I dont actually know). But if you have some logic that cannot handle null yet uses any arbitrary table value, at some point it will break.
The best thing I could say is check what data is going in and out of you JTree. Also, you can examine the source code.
If you can, post your dialog with any supporting data so that it can be run via a main method.
Good luck,
Darren

    Firefox is not warning when closing multiple tabs, even though it is set to warn me in preferences! Unchecking and rechecking the box does not help, it's as if Firefox is ignoring the option to warn when closing multiple tabs.

    You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle with a double left-click.

  • Macbook pro not turning on after SMC reset. I have the following problem. Yesterday I noticed that my mbp 2011does not sleep when closing the screen. smc due loud fan and an X on battery symbol

    Yesterday I noticed that my mbp 2011 dos not sleep when closing the screen cover. Today I Turner my laptop in. However the fan was working loudly and stayed loud. After Start I noticed an X on Battery symbol. Clicking on it, it showed 'no battery.' I found out that a potential solution for this problem was SMC reset. I also noticed that the leds on magsafe was not lightning. Despite this I tried to execute the smc reset as described on apple support site. Switching off, plugin the magsafe connector, pushed the buttons shift + alt+ ctrl + power. Then i pushed the power button, but my mbp is not turning on. I pushed several times on the power button but nothing works. The magsafe is also dark meaning the leds not lightning. Can anyone here help me on this ?

    Problem solved by my own. But do not how :) magsafe again working and the laptop tooo

    if there are multiple tabs open, and i close FF, it does not warn me.
    The settings are ok, and i have checked the "warn me when closing multiple tabs"
    i have tried the Safe Mode, and that is the same.
    however, if i open a second window,when exiting that second window,it asks , but the main window does not...
    so weired.
    may be a bug of b10.
    any helps are appreciated.

    The prefs for Save & Quit the warning message have been set by default to false in current Firefox 4 beta versions (Bug 592822 - Remove quit warning dialog).

  • Firefox does not warm when closing or quitting multiple tabs

    Even though I have it set to warn me when closing or quitting, Firefox will quit and close multiple tabs. It defeats the purpose of having that setting turned on in the first place. Please help.

    browser.showQuitWarning: true

  • Yosemite - Safari still does not warn when closing multiple tabs, what will it take to get Apple to add this simple option?

    I cannot understand why Apple does not add the option to warn you when closing multiple tabs. There are posts all over the Internet requesting the feature or looking for a way to do it.  Why do they totally ignore this valuable, simple feature?

    Thanks for the support.  I guess you take one battle at at time because you hate to lose multiple battles and I picked this one. However, and this could go on quite a while, why do I have to buy another application to sort my bookmarks and have the sort sync the Cloud?. Bookmark sort - that is a programming 101 feature. Now I found that iPhoto can read AVCHD video files and Quicktime cannot.  Oh my. I wish Apple would read the posts and actually take them into consideration. It would make their users feel more included.  I do like Yosemite and love email markup. Good job but the customers have a few good ideas too.
    At least you can Air Drop to Mac now!

  • Firefox will not quit when closed.

    I have two problems with Firefox. It "hangs up" after a couple of minutes and will not quit and when I go to restart my computer, I now have to manually close some windows to get the computer to restart.
    I was on Firefox 3 something and Firefox would go along nicely for about 10 minutes and then hang. The computer wasn't frozen - it just hung and you couldn't go to any other pages or connect to any other links.
    I upgraded to Firefox 7. Same problem. I upgraded to the latest version of Flash player. Same problem. I uninstalled the latest version of Flash player, reinstalled the earlier version, and then gave up when nothing changed and reinstalled the latest version again. That's the first problem.
    The other problem is that when the Foxfire window hangs and you close it down, Forefox is still running in the background and nothing, I mean nothing, not the Task Manager, but nothing will close it except rebooting the computer. If you restart, you get window that says nsAppShell:Event W... and you have to manually close that window to restart your computer and it takes for freaking ever.
    I have done everything I can think of and everything that has been suggested, as far as I know. I have uninstalled Firefox 7 and reinstalled it again. I have deleted the parent.lock file (yes, I remembered to delete it when I reinstalled FF7 again). I have checked every extension and plugin I have. I don't have many, but I did check them all. Doesn't matter whether they're disabled or not, Firefox still hangs up, although sometimes I get the nsAppShell window again and sometimes I don't. If I disable one plugin, I will not get the nsAppShell, but then the next time with everything else the same and that plugin still disabled, I will get it again. Now I'm getting a window about fonts that needs to be manually closed before I can restart the computer.
    I'm at the end of my rope. I love Firefox, but tomorrow for the first time in 6 years, I'm going to another browser because I need to be able to use my computer. You guys have no idea how absolutely frustrating this is. I'm having to use IE right now and I hate IE. But if I can't use Firefox, what else can I do?
    By the way, my computer worked fine all day yesterday. Last night there were some Microsoft updates that went in automatically when I shut down. Maybe it's those? But there is one other thing I saw and that was that Grease Monkey was updated today. Now I disabled Grease Monkey and still got the nsAppShell window and Firefox still hung up. So I uninstalled and reinstalled that too, and it still didn't make a difference either way. But maybe it has something to do with it, although I wouldn't know how to fix it if disabling Grease Monkey won't fix the problem.
    OK, post script: I closed Firefox down about an hour ago or more ago and couldn't get it to quit again. I decided to not restart the computer again, so I just left it go and went to IE. I just now, for a lark, tried to restart Firefox and it did restart, but it's taken an hour to do that. I went to another page and it hung up again. So I don't know, but I have to be able to be able to use my computer and right now that's impossible using FIrefox.

    OK, I think I have this solved. After reading my post over, I decided to rethink the problem. First thing I did was download Chrome and I tried using that and IE again and surprise! I was having the same problem on those browsers as well. So now we know it wasn't Firefox. I then figured maybe a slow computer meant a virus, so I ran scans. I've had both Avast and IOBit for months now and I've never had a problem with either of them before. Then I downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a third scan. They all picked some stuff up, but nothing serious. Then I tried disabling all the antivirus stuff and that didn't solve anything. But then I decided to keep Malwarebytes and I uninstalled IOBit Security and whammo - problem solved.
    I have no idea why out of the blue IOBit would be causing a problem like this so if someone knows, please let me in on the secret. Additionally, IE was working fairly well last night but not this morning. I also don't know why removing IOBit would take care of the nsAppShell issue, because supposedly, that's related to Firefox plug ins. And one more thing...when Comcast hooked my neighbor up to cable, they did it by putting a splitter on my line. They were messing about with the lines yesterday before I got on my computer last night trying to decide how to rerun them and today they did that, taking the splitter off my line and giving my neighbor his own line. That was finished about 30 minutes before I uninstalled IOBit. So....who knows?
    But I ain't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. I have my Firefox back and I am so sorry for bad mouthing you last night - I love you, Firefox!

    Is this business logic put in the view page (the JSP) ? If so, don't do that. Use JSPs for view only and use servlets/beans for business logic.

  • Stuck Thread when closing dialog window with 'X' browser button

    Hello,
    I moved my application to JDev 11.1.1.3 and it seems I've got a problem appearing since. Here it is:
    I've a bouded task-flow having 5-6 JSP pages.
    3 of them can open a dialog window to show a PDF report using dialog:report such as:
    <control-flow-rule id="__1">
    <from-activity-id id="__2">etats</from-activity-id>
    <control-flow-case id="__3">
    <from-outcome id="__7">dialog:goReportEtat</from-outcome>
    <to-activity-id id="__8">report</to-activity-id>
    </control-flow-case>
    </control-flow-rule>
    <control-flow-rule id="__9">
    <from-activity-id id="__10">real</from-activity-id>
    <control-flow-case id="__11">
    <from-outcome id="__13">dialog:goReportReal</from-outcome>
    <to-activity-id id="__12">report</to-activity-id>
    </control-flow-case>
    </control-flow-rule>
    <control-flow-rule id="__14">
    <from-activity-id id="__15">previ</from-activity-id>

    <to-activity-id id="__17">report</to-activity-id>

    </control-flow-rule>
    When a go to "Etat" page, launch my report window, close it with the 'X' button of the browser and going back to let's say "Real" page, the page just won't load completely and I got this error after 10 mins:

    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='windows-1252'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.1"
    xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
    xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich">
    <jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"/>
    <f:view>
    <af:document title="#{res['report.title']}" id="d1">
    <af:form id="f1">
    <af:panelStretchLayout startWidth="0px" endWidth="0px" topHeight="30px"
    bottomHeight="30px" styleClass="AFVisualRoot"
    id="pt_psl1">
    <f:facet name="top">
    <!--<af:commandButton text="#{res['template.null']}" id="close"
    partialSubmit="true" visible="true"
    immediate="true">
    <af:returnActionListener/>
    </af:commandButton>-->
    </f:facet>
    <f:facet name="center">
    <af:inlineFrame shortDesc="#{res['report.title']}" id="if1"
    source="/pdf/report.pdf"/>
    </f:facet>
    </af:panelStretchLayout>
    </af:form>
    </af:document>
    </f:view>
    </jsp:root>
    I tested by putting a button into my report page to close the page and containing a returnActionListener tag and when I close the page with this button, everything is fine.
    <af:commandButton text="" id="close"
    partialSubmit="true" visible="true"
    immediate="true">
    <af:returnActionListener/>
    </af:commandButton>
    Is this normal?
    My problem is that our users are used to close the dialog using 'X' button so it is a 'must' for me to make it work.
    Is this normal? OR Am i doing something wrong there?
    I spent a full week looking for mistakes and searching into the net but I'm lost there
    Any help welcome! :)
    Jack

    Hi Puthanampatti,
    That's what I thought and I did try to do what you said:
    I added this into my report page:
    <f:facet name="metaContainer">
    <af:resource type="javascript">
    window.onbeforeunload = simulateClick;
    function simulateClick() {
    if (document.getElementById('close') != null) {
    // simulate a click
    //alert('simulate a click');
    document.getElementById('close').click();
    //alert('CLICKED');
    </af:resource>
    </f:facet>
    And here my close button into report page:
    <af:commandButton text="#{res['template.null']}" id="close"
    partialSubmit="true" visible="true"
    clientComponent="true" immediate="true">
    <af:returnActionListener/>
    </af:commandButton>
    But, this doesn't resolve the problem.
    When doing so, I have this javascript error:
    Erreur : AdfXMLRequest is not defined
    Fichier Source : http://127.0.0.1:7101/payroll/afr/partition/gecko/default/opt/core-11.1.1.3.0-0084.js
    Ligne : 457
    SO now I'm quite lost and dunno what to do next.
    I am 99% sure it was working well when I was developing with JDev11.1.1.2.
    Is it not a regression?

  • Macbook Pro 8.2 does not sleep when closing the led.

    I have a macbook pro 8.2. When I close the led, it sleeps then wakes up immediately. I can't put it to sleep by closing the led becaus it will wakes up again. So, If I want to put it to sleep, I have to choose the sleep option from apple menu. I am affraid that it is a hardware problem, something wrong in the sensors.

    Since this is a 8.2 MBP it is fairly new, I have an 8.2, it has still got a lot of the original 1 year warranty left on it.
    Just how do you know it is not going to sleep when you close the lid? Does the monitor not turn off? Does the sleep light on the front not come one and then slowly go out and come on again (flash slowly) when you close the lid?
    If the screen doesn't turn off or the sleep light doesn't come on and then flash slowly you need to take it in to get it fixed ASAP.
    If those things are happening, the screen turns off and the sleep light comes on then goes out then back on slowly, the MBP is actually in sleep mode. Even if once you open the lid it comes right back to life wvwn if it doesn't ask for your password. This is a setting in system preferences.

  • Customization for Firefox 29 not staying when closing and reopening firefox

    The only add-on I have added in an attempt to get this new version of firefox to not look so much like a crowded mess is Classic Theme Restorer. My problem is when I click on the "new" customization tool and move say the bookmark star button or say one of my older add-ons like my email checker. I finally get it so this thing is at least passable to me now and close out of the new customize page. I can do that just fine, the problem I then have is if I close out of Firefox - say shut down the computer - then come back a bit later everything has been moved around.
    Things I had on the left side of the screen are now on the right. Buttons are back to their default or just missing all together. Is this a glitch? Or am I just doing something wrong?

    Hello,
    This happens in safe mode?

    Maybe you have a corrupted localstore.rdf, try unhide the hidden files and folder, go to you profile folder, close Firefox, delete or rename the lcalstore.rdf file and restart Firefox, then try make and changes and check if the problem still occur:

  • Firefox 4b10 does not warn when closing multiple tabs (setting is on).

    Hey,
    Firefox 4b10 won't warn me when I'm about to close multiple tabs. I have verified this setting is on multiple times.
    The only reason I think this is happening is when I decided to download Firefox 3 (latest version). I installed it to see if IPTV would work on it, and decided to uninstall it. This also ended up deleting some of my addon's such as ABP.
    I've tried uninstalling FF, using CCleaner and then reinstalling it.
    For some reason when I install FF4, I can't seem to find the SAFE MODE option, even when I run it with "firefox -safe-mode".
    Could someone help please????
    Thanks. :D

    The prefs for Save & Quit the warning message have been set by default to false in current Firefox 4 beta versions (Bug 592822 - Remove quit warning dialog).
    You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle with a double left-click.
    * browser.tabs.warnOnClose , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/About%3Aconfig_entries
    * browser.warnOnQuit , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.warnOnQuit
    * browser.warnOnRestart , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.warnOnRestart

  • Why am I not warned when closing multiple tabs even though it is set in the preferences to do so ... using Version 4 on a MAC

    I have set the preferences to warn me when I close the browser window with multiple tabs open. No warning is given and the multiple tabs have to be reproduced every time I open. In previous versions I would be asked if I wanted to SAVE the tabs for the next session ... which I do. And, when opening Firefox the next time, the tabs would all be there.

    You can use "History > Restore Previous Session" to get back the previous session.
    There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page.
    Another possibility is to use:
    *Firefox > Preferences > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
    You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle with a double left-click.
    * browser.showQuitWarning, see http://blog.zpao.com/post/3174360617/about-that-quit-dialog
    * browser.tabs.warnOnClose, see http://kb.mozillazine.org/About%3Aconfig_entries
    * browser.warnOnQuit , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.warnOnQuit
    * browser.warnOnRestart , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.warnOnRestart
    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • HT1776 MacBook does not sleep when closed

    I have a Late 2013 Retina Macbook Pro running Mavericks.  Sometimes when I close the lid, it does not sleep or turn off the display, even after the set time in Energy Saver preferences.  My main concern is that I have my security settings set to lock my computer 5 seconds after sleep/turning off the display, and this does not happen, as it does not go to sleep.  The only way I notice is that when I open the computer some time later, the screen is already on and it is not locked.  There are no periphials connected when this happens.
