File creation in Linux via FileWriter method
I have a situation, that I find rather odd. When I run my java application under Linux it creates a file using FileWriter, but when the file is view via an edit like VI, the program states that the file is in dos format [dos mode]!!! How is this possible? Any ideas?
Thanks for you help
Poiema
What data are you writing to the file?
Linux only expects "\n" at the end of a line, it you have "\r\n" at the end of a line, vi might interpret it as a dos file.

Nfs mount point does not allow file creations via java.io.File
Folks,
I have mounted an nfs drive to iFS on a Solaris server:
mount -F nfs nfs://server:port/ifsfolder /unixfolder
I can mkdir and touch files no problem. They appear in iFS as I'd expect. However if I write to the nfs mount via a JVM using java.io.File encounter the following problems:
Only directories are created ? unless I include the user that started the JVM in the oinstall unix group with the oracle user because it's the oracle user that writes to iFS not the user that creating the files!
I'm trying to create several files in a single directory via java.io.File BUT only the first file is created. I've tried putting waits in the code to see if it a timing issue but this doesn't appear to be. Writing via java.io.File to either a native directory of a native nfs mountpoint works OK. ie. Junit test against native file system works but not against an iFS mount point. Curiously the same unit tests running on PC with a windows driving mapping to iFS work OK !! so why not via a unix NFS mapping ?
many thanks in advance.
CHi Diep,
have done as requested via Oracle TAR #3308936.995. As it happens the problem is resolved. The resolution has been not to create the file via java.io.File.createNewFile(); before adding content via an outputStream. if the File creation is left until the content is added as shown below the problem is resolved.
Another quick question is link creation via 'ln -fs' and 'ln -f' supported against and nfs mount point to iFS ? (at Operating System level, rather than adding a folder path relationship via the Java API).
many thanks in advance.

RC-50004: Fatal: Error occurred in ApplyDatabase: Control file creation fai
Hi guys,
I am cloning and EBS 12.1.3 from one server to another, and when Configuring the target system database server with ''perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier'', I am getting the following error:
RC-50004: Fatal: Error occurred in ApplyDatabase:
Control file creation failed
MOS is saying that it is due to wrong permissions on the /var/tmp/.oracle directory and we should give it the following permissions:
chmod 777 /var/tmp/.oracle
After giving those permissions and rebooting the server , and running the perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier script, I am still having the same problem:
RC-50004: Fatal: Error occurred in ApplyDatabase:
Control file creation failed
This is the contents of the ApplyDBTier log file (since the file exceed 30.000 characters, i am going to post the parts where the errors occur:

Please guys, how can I solve this problem?@Hussain Sawwan
Hi Hussain,
After successfully configured the DbTier and AppsTier with their respective post clone scripts the appstier was automatically started at the end.
But now, I can't seem to connect with my IE 9 and Firefow browsers.

Opening a file succeeds in Linux but fails in Windows
Hi,
I have written an addon to OO Writer. It works properly with GNU-Linux (Ubuntu 9.04, JAVA 6)
I tried it under Windows 7 RC (I have no other Windows OS available)
I have a problem opening a file.
Here is the code I use
class Dictionary {
ArrayList brutEntry = new ArrayList();
ArrayList entryList = new ArrayList();
DicEntry temp = null;
public boolean enamdictEnabled;
public boolean edictEnabled;
* @param dicFileName A String representing the name of the edict file which contains the dictionary entries
* Each entry correspond to a line of the file
* The dictionary must be EUC-JP coded.
* @exception exceptions No exceptions thrown
Dictionary(String dicFileName, String signature) {
File f=new File(dicFileName);
WarningHandler.displayMessage("I did; File f=new File(dicFileName); with "+dicFileName+" as a file name"+
"\nthe reselt is: "+f.toString()+" with f.toString()");
BufferedReader i = null;
try {
i = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(f), "EUC-JP"));//dicFileName
String str1 = null;
while ((str1 = i.readLine()) != null) {
// System.out.println(signature+"making a new entry"+Integer.toHexString(index));
temp = new DicEntry(str1);
temp.entrySignature = signature;
entryList.add(temp);
} catch (IOException ex) {
System.out.println("Error message: "+ex.getMessage());
Logger.getLogger(Dictionary.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
WarningHandler.displayMessage("There was a problem opening or reading the " + dicFileName +
" dictionary file. Please check that your file and filepath are correct and" +
"that your dictionary file is EUC-JP encoded");
} finally {
try {
i.close();
} catch (IOException ex) {
Logger.getLogger(Dictionary.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
At first I used
i = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(dicFileName), "EUC-JP"));//dicFileNamewithout the intermediate File creation but the result is the same, under Linux it works and under Windows it fails opening the file.
From my WarningHandler.displaymessage method I can see taht the file name is correctly (at least I guess) as it is:
/home/jaaf/jilt/theFileName with Linux
c:\Users\jaaf\jilt\thefileName with Windows
For information the file theFileName is EUC-JP encoded and contains Japanese Characters
Thank you for help
Edited by: meaulnes on Jul 8, 2009 5:19 AM
Complementary information after investigation
I split the line
i = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(f), "EUC-JP"));//dicFileName
in 3.
It seems that FileInputStream and InputStreamReader pass without problem.
But the line
i=new BufferedReader(isr); where isr is the InputStreamReader makes the program crash (Even the catch is not treated).
The message I get is:
Run Time Error
prog C:\ProgramFiles\OPenOffice.org3\program\soffice.bin
The application has requested the RunTime to terminate it in an unusual way.
please contact application support....
Edited by: meaulnes on Jul 8, 2009 5:31 AMHi,
Thank You for help;
I used stack trace
It seems that the error comes from the encoding.
Here is the trace:

Mapping Errors Log file to be sent via FTP
Hi All,
Functional specs of a file to file scenario require to create an aditional log file containing the file name, creation date and a list with the lines were a problem occurred with an error description and then send it to R3 via FTP.
Does anyone know if it's possible or not? and if it's possible, how could I do that?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.Daniel,
This is possible.
1. To get the Source File name and and appned the date to it, you can use Adapter Specific Identtifers -- File Name in the Sender and receiver file adapter and in the message mapping, set the file name using this code,
2. Rest of error handling can error record creation for the error file can be handled via the mapping itself.
String newfilename="";
DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
// Get Sourcefilename
String oldfilename=conf.get(key);
//get the date
java.text.SimpleDateFormat dateformat = new java.text.SimpleDateFormat( "yyyyMMdd" );
dateformat.format( new java.util.Date() );
//append source+date+L
String nwfilename=oldfilename+dateformat;
conf.put(key, newfilename);

Perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier fails on control file creation
Hi Guys,
Platform is : Linux 5
DB: 11.1.0.7
R12.1.1
I have a temp file that had been removed at the OS level.. on the source And I want to updated the control file regarding this so that it does not record this file any more.
I am using rapid clone (EBS) to cone this source database unto the target but is failing on the target control file creation as it's trying to find the temp file that had been removed at the source. OS level.
So I will like to update the control file on the source so that it does not reflect this dropped temp file any longer and then do the clone again.
So What's the best way to achieve this or please point me to a metalink note:
Also below are the rrors from the rapid clone
/u04/oracle/ASCPT/db/tech_st/11.1.0/appsutil/clone/bin/../jre/bin/java -Xmx600M -DCONTEXT_VALIDATED=true -Doracle.installer.oui_loc=/u04/oracle/ASCPT/db/tech_st/11.1.0/oui -classpath /u04/oracle/ASCPT/db/tech_st/11.1.0/appsutil/clone/jlib/xmlparserv2.jar:/u04/oracle/ASCPT/db/tech_st/11.1.0/appsutil/clone/jlib/ojdbc6.jar:/u04/oracle/ASCPT/db/tech_st/11.1.0/appsutil/clone/jlib/java:/u04/oracle/ASCPT/db/tech_st/11.1.0/appsutil/clone/jlib/oui/OraInstaller.jar:/u04/oracle/ASCPT/db/tech_st/11.1.0/appsutil/clone/jlib/oui/ewt3.jar:/u04/oracle/ASCPT/db/tech_st/11.1.0/appsutil/clone/jlib/oui/share.jar:/u04/oracle/ASCPT/db/tech_st/11.1.0/appsutil/clone/jlib/oui/srvm.jar:/u04/oracle/ASCPT/db/tech_st/11.1.0/appsutil/clone/jlib/ojmisc.jar oracle.apps.ad.clone.ApplyDBTier -e /u04/oracle/ASCPT/db/tech_st/11.1.0/appsutil/DEV2_irvstjunx084.xml -stage /u04/oracle/ASCPT/db/tech_st/11.1.0/appsutil/clone -showProgress

I had tried modifying the the file adcrdbclone.sql in which is caled by <RDBMS $ORACLE_HOME>/appsutil/template/addbtmpl.drv by removing the temp file that does not exist .
and then ran perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier again but still failed on the control file creation.
Please advise
Thanks in advanceHi Helios ,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I found that the issed was that there is a datafile that was dropped at the source at the OS level ... ( A mistake by one of support staff).
So How can I modify the control file creation at the target not to reference the data file that does not exist. I have tried removing it as stated in my previore post but it stall fails at the control file creation

Customization of Alert Mails in Single stack using SolMan via CBMA method
Hello All,
I have created alerts for error messages making use of SolMan via CBMA method. But the contents of the mail are not too informative.
It sends an html file attached to the notification mail. I have provided the screenshot of that html file's content. As you can see, the contents of the html file is not much helpful. Kindly let me know how we can customize this html file.
I need that html file to contain the name of ICO.

How to upload words, exel, PDF file from the pc via itune to the iPad, and where will the uploaded file be saved? In the apps?
You will need an app (or apps) on your iPad that is capable of reading the documents, as they will be saved with the app - if you don't have such an app then there is nothing to transfer them to or to read/access them.
One method of transferring them is toconnect your iPad to your computer's iTunes, select it's app tab, and then scroll to the bottom of it - you should the apps That you've got that are capable of file-sharing (if you've got any). Selecting/high-lighting one of them should then allow you to add files to it via the box to the right of it.
An alternative way to get the documents onto your iPad is if the app that you want to transfer them to has a wifi setting, which will then allow you to transfer the documents wirelessly. You can also send the documents to yourself as attachments and then use Mail's 'open in' facility to copy them into your chosen app.
Edit : more info on file sharing from the manual :
File Sharing lets you transfer files between iPad and your computer. You can share files created with a compatible app and saved in a supported format.
Apps that support file sharing appear in the File Sharing Apps list in iTunes. For each app, the Files list shows the documents that are on iPad. See the app’s documentation for how it shares files; not all apps support this feature.
Connect iPad to your computer.
In iTunes, select iPad in the Devices list, then click Apps at the top of the screen.
In the File Sharing section, select an app from the list on the left.
On the right, select the file you want to transfer, then click “Save to” and choose a destination on your computer.
Transfer a file from your computer to iPad:
Connect iPad to your computer.
In iTunes, select iPad in the Devices list, then click Apps at the top of the screen.
In the File Sharing section, click Add.
Select a file, then click Choose (Mac) or OK (PC).
The file is transferred to your device and can be opened using an app that supports that file type. To transfer more than one file, select each additional file.
Delete a file from iPad: Select the file in the Files list, then tap Delete.

Output: /bin/bash
This means we need to edit Bash shell file .bash_profile.
[ora11g@rac1 ~]$vi /home/ora11g/.bash_profile
Add this line: umask 022
Then I save the file .bash_profile and reboot OS.
Then I run the following command:
[ora11g@rac1 grid] $ ./runcluvfy.sh stage -pre crsinst -n all -r 11gR2 -orainv ora11g -fixup -fixupdir /mydir -verbose
But the reusult is the same. The issue is not solved as follows:
Check default user profile creation mask:
Node Name: rac1
Available: 0002
Required: 0022
Comment: failed
Do any folk understand how to solve VM rac1 user profile creation mask problem ?
Thanks. -
Calling BAPI after successful file creation
Hi,
my requiremetn is to use XI to post a file on SAP - if the file is posted successfully then to call a BAPI (which reads the file data).
How do i check that the file has been posted correctly and the trigger the BAPI- what is the best solutin, to use BPM or inbound proxy or some other method?
Can you please provide some details .
Thanks in advanceHi Prabhu,
thanks for the answer- but i was wondering that wudnt error handling be a bit messy ?
for example, say the files are posted correctly but for some reason the BPI fails - will the message end with error ?
if so on retrying the message again a duplicate set of files might be posted..isnt that so
How to handle this...and basically separate the BPI and file creation
thanks
