Help! Can't open files in all programs since installing version cue upgrade

Please help. A few days ago I got some pop up (I'm in windows XP) saying updates were available for 2 adobe things. I just chose yes and kept working. Now, I can't open files in any of my CS3 programs. I have lost 4 days of productivity and fear losing my mind next!! after doing some research, it appears alot of people are having trouble since uploading some version cue upgrade for cs3. I followed their suggestions and unchecked VC in photoshop (my first offender) and suddenly I could open files again. But now I can't in Illustrator, but in preferences, it does not have VC checked.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the whole package. I've tried just uninstalling VC. Nothing's working and I'm having major deadline problems now.

You can try a system restore to a point before the update. If you're lucky, it might work, but I often find System Restore will fail when you need it the most.

Does your computer see it all?
How full is your hard drive?
Have you ever repaired permissions?

Hi, I tried to export my document yesterday with page transitions and it has jammed system. I have followed a number of steps as discussed for CS 5, however none of these are working.
Exporting to PDF (Print) results in a hung background task that cannot be cancelled. When I attempt to quit InDesign, you get the message, "InDesign cannot quit because one or more tasks are running in the background."
Can you please help as it has jammed the whole program.

Help-can't open file???

have a filed saved in imovie, but when try and open it, its just says cannot open this file. When I look at it in finder, all the parts seem to be there! is there anyway I can open it which exporting all the clips? I have made a piece of music in it, which I really need in the same order but not sure how to get!

Hi girliekim - welcome to the iMovie forum!
Is the file stored on your computer's hard drive, or on an external drive?
External drives must be formatted for Macs, not PCs.
Open the iMovie project's package by Control-Clicking it>Show Package Contents>Shared Movies>iDVD and double click the QT.mov file.
Does it open and play?
Let us know what happens.

Logic 6.4.3 Crashed - NEED HELP - Can't Open File!!!!!!

My Logic crashed after saving a song. When I saved my track, Logic crashed and a box appeared saying ("The application logic pro quit unexpectedly"). The backups won't open and the same error box appears, other songs project and logic open just fine. If anyone has any updates or suggest please post!

Can't open Office Mac 2008 programs after install

I just upgraded my MacBook Pro to SL and now I cannot open any of my OfficeMac 2008 programs (i.e. Office or Entourage) - it just shows the title window for the program and goes to 'not responding' mode. Anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with installing the latest iTunes update. I recommend following the steps below:
Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
When you get to the step to uninstall iTunes, it is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the link for that step.

You would go into Preferences > File Type Associations and from the dropdown menu and choose "Browse" to get to Lightroom.
So yes you can set files that Lightroom supports to open from Bridge into Lightroom.
But I don't think you'd want to.
Lightroom is a standalone product for a Photography workflow. Bridge is a manager for Creative suite products like Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign. Basically web and print design workflows.
Bridge is not a manager for Lr because Lr has it's own catalog system.
Lightroom is not a Creative Suite product.
Bridge does use Adobe Camera Raw to make adjustments, but move those adjusted files into Lr, you have to make a decision whose settings stay.

Developer: How can I let people open files with my program?

Hello Everyone,
I just finished my program for the Mac, and decided to make it an application.
I used Platypus to make my program into an application. Unfortunately when I try to open a file with my program (control + click on file + open with -> other), my application is grayed out and I can't select it. I see it there along with the other applications but I can't select it like I can Mail or TextEdit.
I read somewhere I had to use XCode to let people open files with my program but I have never used XCode and I have no idea how to do that. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, since Platypus is not an Apple product, you should visit it's developers forum for assistance. The Apple Discussions is intended to assist users with problems and questions about Apple products only.
To use XCode Tools you need to install it from the Optional Installs folder on your OS X Installer Disc One. It comes with documentation. More assistance can be found at developer.apple.com.

Make sure Java is enable in your browser's security settings.
Open Java Preferences (in Utilities folder)
Make sure Web-start applications are enabled.
Drag Java 32-bit to the top of the list.
jnlp isn't an audio file format. It's just a java web-start program (Java Network Launching Protocol).

In Java 1.5, you can use the JVM's own monitoring APIs to examine what other JVMs are running on the system, and what applications they're running.
It's general and powerful, but complex. The socket/file/whatever approach is cleaner, and probably more suited to your usage.
Don't bother trying to use the Windows task manager for this sort of thing. You have to write messy native code, and it isn't reliable after all that anyway.

You can force quit applications

if that does not work you can force quit a computer shut down by hold the power button for an extended period.

Files in all programs slow to open and save with Snow Leopard

Installed Snow Leopard, now all files in all programs super slow to open and save - Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark -- all now at least 4-5X slower to open files and save -- here's what I've tried so far:
repaired permissions
emptied font cache - restarted up in safe mode
re installed Snow Leopard
renamed old preferences and restarted to create new prefs
I'm hating Snow Leopard -- eeesh -- this is no upgrade, just a big waste of time and money, any ideas?
