How do I create a booklet in Pages 5.2.2?

I'd like to create a booklet template in Pages 5.2.2. However, I'm having difficulty doing so, as I do not see the facing pages option that used to be available in the inspector. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you! To create a booklet, I ended up having to use landscape configuration for the paper and adding two text text boxes. The trick it to be clear with the layout of the pages so they print in the correct order. I've submitted a request that Mac create a booklet template. Thanks again!!!

No built-in ability, in Pages, to do this. Look at this:

Look at the left hand margin indicator -
Compare it to the right-hand one. You'll note that it is actually two stops, instead of just one - a small bar on top of a triangle.
Split them by careful dragging, and you can get what you want -
You may need to do a bit of fiddling until you get it just the way you want it.

  • Creating a booklet in Pages

I want to create a 20 page A5 booklet ie 5 x A4 sheets folded in half and stapled in the centre. I am having trouble creating such a document and then having it ready to print. Can I easily do this in Pages? I am not sure if it is Pages or the Printer that is making things difficult.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
I'm not sure how "easy" it is for others, but for me it is. These are instructions I wrote quite some time ago & I've updated them periodically.
There are a few ways to do this. The first two involve setting your Pages document in File > Page Setup… to landscape orientation. I originally wrote this for Pages 2. In Pages 3 or 4, use the page layout mode for #s 1a & 1b.
1a - Use linked text boxes. This is easier done with the layout showing. First you need to add a page break to have two pages. Click in the body area & then Insert > Page Break. Now click outside the layout area to enter object mode & click the "T" in the tool bar or Insert > Text to create a text box & type something in it. This is to keep the box from disappearing if you click elsewhere & the text can be replaced later. If you already have some text to paste in you can just paste while in object mode & a text box containing your text will be created. You will now need to click outside the layout again & drag the cursor toward the text box to select it. You can now position the first text box in the lower right of your 2-page document. It is easier to see where it goes if you have the document set up with 2 columns. Click on the blue-outlined tab at the lower right of the text box to create a new of the same size & move the box to the upper left. Repeat for a box for the upper right & again for the lower right. You will now have 4 linked text boxes.
1b - Start as in 1a creating a 2-page document with 2 columns in landscape orientation. For this one you will use the body text area. Just type or paste your text in as normal, starting in the upper left. When you have your text done, cut all of the text in the first column (upper left), insert a column break after the last character on the now lower left column & paste the cut text after it in the now lower right column.
Neither one of these will let you automatically use page numbers because Pages "sees" each page & you actually have 2 pages per page.
2 - For users of Leopard or earlier, use Cocoa Booklet. For a folded letter-size booklet start with your Pages document in Legal size & larger than normal font size. For an A5 booklet, create your Pages document in A4 size & larger font size. Export the Pages document to a PDF & then drag the PDF to the icon of Cocoa Booklet. It will create a new PDF in booklet form.
CocoaBooklet no longer works in Snow Leopard so you'll need to use Create Booklet Service to create a booklet with any number of pages (best in a multiple of 4). I like the results better with CocoaBooklet, so I save my Pages document as a PDF on my iMac running Snow Leopard & then transfer the file via my network to my Mac mini running Leopard to make the booklet with CocoaBooklet & then copy it back to my iMac. I actually do all of this from my iMac. My Mac mini runs "headless" as a print & weather server, so I use Back-to-My-Mac screen sharing.

  • How can I create links to other pages in iBooks that will function in PDF?

    Hi,
I know some people have asked previously how to create links to other pages of their book within iBooks. I having an issue with this myself that I haven't been able to resolve. I am able to create the links, and they seem to function within the program, however, once I export the document as a PDF file (the format in which I need to have this ebook!), the links seem to be non-functional. Does anybody have a fix for this?
Thank you so much for any suggestions you may have!! I really need to figure this out for my client.
    Regards,
    Meggyn

Exporting as a PDF does alter/lose/remove certain functions. Adobe Acrobat has its own page navigation system.
A lot of the hidden engine of iBooks Author is basically very similar to building a website! so links and books marks are an "internal" function.
IF you  have Acrobat and not just the Adobe Reader, you can make links.  I have never needed to try, but  I see a working link related index  in the many software manuals  I have.

  • How can I create a checklist in Pages (not Numbers) ?

    Hello all,
Just curious if ANYONE out there has figured out how to implement a checkable checklist in Pages.  I am familiar with the Checklist template in Numbers, but it is not very pretty, for lack of a better word.  I need to create a stylish checklist in Pages that I can email out to employees, they can fill out, and send back.  Any suggestions?
(I am also familiar with the check boxes in the Image Bullets section of Inspector, but it is too complicated for some of my less tech-savvy employees to go change the bullet for each line they need to check off - not to mention a hassle.  The intuitive thing would be for them to be able to simply click on the empty box, at which point a check would appear.  Please help.)
    Thank you!
    Jen

The clean soluce is to build your own template matching your taste in Numbers.

  • How can I create more than 1 page?

How can I create a document that is several pages. When I get to the bottom the text diappears.

Some menu entries in the main menu bar are hidden if you use the mouse and only appear if you use the keyboard to open the menu (Bug 626825).
You can see the difference if you use Alt+F to open the File menu or Alt+B to open the Bookmarks menu and compare that to what you see if you use the mouse to open the menu after you have made the menu bar visible by tapping Alt or by pressing F10.
    * "Bookmark All Tabs" (Shift+Ctrl+D) no longer shows in the Bookmarks menu unless you open the Bookmarks menu via the keyboard (Alt + B).
    * "Bookmark This Page" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of that browser page.
    * "Bookmark All Tabs" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of a tab on the tab bar.

Is it possible to create a bibliography in Pages 09? I know about the Endnote solution, and its problems. But is it possible to do it outside of the 3rd party software? How?

EndNote works with Pages '09. It is Pages 5 that is incompatible.
There are other solutions for citatation:

  • How do you create an Index in Pages?

    Hi all,
I can see how you can create Headings but I can't see how you create an Index! Surely the point of creating Headings is so they can be referenced by an index, so if anyone's got any suggestions I'd be glad to hear them
    ciao

Thanks Muhammad. As you say, this is okay for a table of contents, but not for an index.
The only option seems to be to create one 'manually'. I have found two suggestions to use a search to assist with this:
    • one using find: http://pagesfaq.blogspot.com.au/2008/01/how-do-i-create-index-in-pages.html
    • another using Applescript: http://superuser.com/questions/84580/making-an-index-in-apple-iwork-pages
Perhaps this will be one of the pieces of functionality, along with other things like easily merging to labels, that will be added to the next version of Pages (please Apple)?

  • How can I create and design a page UI from blank page in jdev10g?

    Hi.
How can I implement a page from scratch page?
I can create a master-detail page as the OBE site.
But I'm not sure how to create page using component pallets, instead drag data-control model to page.
It means I should design UI with component pallets,
    How can I do?
    Thanks.

    Thanks.
    It is helpful to me.
What I want to do is use component pallets and add action to the component for creating a page instead using executeWithParam operation and drag view object from datacontrol to create page.
    How can I do?
    Thanks

  • How can I make a booklet in pages?

I am trying to make a booklet in pages, and i am sure this has been asked before. What is the best way to do this without having to download another program to help out?

    Hi Jake,
I don't know that there is a "best way" to do this in Pages.
Several variables will have an effect on the procedure:
What size paper will you print on?
How many booklet pages will fit onto a single side of that piece of paper?
How many pages will your booklet have (including front and back covers)?
For a 4.25" x 8.5" booklet, the Catering Brochure provides a good starting point.
The default Catering brochure (above) has 2 letter size pages, each in a separate section (as is always the case for a Page Layout document.
The top section holds the brochure's outside pages (4 and 1), back cover on the left, front cover on the right.
The bottom section holds the inside pages (2 and 3), inside left on the left, inside right on the right.
The Pages button in the Toolbar offers a choice of four types of page to add the the document: Additional copies of the cover or inside layout, a Text page or a Blank page.
Each inserts two brochure/booklet pages. Add two for both sides of a second sheet of paper.
Note that you're not restricted to using a "Text" page for two pages of nothing but text.
For an eight page booklet, the pages are laid out as follows:
    8 (bc)  1 (fc)
    2         7
    6         3
    4         5
Document pages 1 and 2 are printed on opposite faces of a letter sized sheet.
Document pages 3 and 4 are printed on opposite faces of a second sheet.
Catering is one of only two 'single fold' brochures on the Brochure page of the Template Chooser in Pages. The main difference between this one and the Landscape Brochure is in the treatment of the gutter between the two pages on each sheet of paper. Catering treats the pages as separate, with an empty gutter running between them. Landscape runs an illustration across the gutter, which is fine for the inside and outside pages of a four page brochure, but not great for booklets made with more than a single sheet of paper.
The advantage to "another program to help out" is that it frees you to compose the booklet pages in the order they are to appear in the booklet, and as full size pages, then let the 'helper' application impose those pages onto sheets of paper in the order needed to comprise the booklet. Either of the applications noted by Peggy will do that job.
I haven't used one, but my booklets (concert programs) are all the same number of pages (8) and all have the pages in the same, or a very similar order. Generally, I'll produce a pdf for each pair of pages, print a sample of each and staple them in the correct order for the booklet, then take the files and the sample to the local copy shop and let then do the printing, folding and stapling.

  • How do I create a password protected page?

    Hi,
I need to create a password protected page and need help!
    Anyone out there . . .
    Thanks,
    Manda

    Depends on web server.
But some things to look for are .htaccess if using *NIX.
Otherwise a database and your Dreamweaver help files will
    suffice.

  • How do i create a booklet in Photoshop?

    Can anyone help?
Im using adobe photoshop cs3, and i am wanting to create an 8 page booklet. I am new to photoshop, so any help would be much appreciated.

    >
"You can't layout an 8 page booklet in Photoshop."
    Sure you can!
You can also use the claw end of a hammer to scrape the masking tape off the molding after your living room painting project.
    Point isyou can
    most certainly
lay out a booklet using Photoshop alone, but it's an ungainly process better left to the proper tools, the use of which will produce better looking output, more easily. Of course, that's also predicated on knowing how to use Photoshop and a page layout app in conjunction with each other.
