How to mounted oracle database automatically  in oracle version 8.1.7?

i want to know, how to mounted oracle database automatically in oracle version 8.1.7?

Does this mean you are not using the WIndows operating system, or you doi not want to do this 'manually' using some point and click method?
If this means, "do it automatically for reboots" and you are using the Windows OS, you need to set up a service and set it to automatic at reboot. Or, again in a Windows environment but at commnand line, use "net start {service name}" - as described in the manual.

Heyat Afroz.Probably what you are looking for is that you need to install the Guest Additions so that your vm can mount a directory from the host os. Then place your oracle installtion files on that share directory.

  • How to truncate / drop database automatic?

Using: 10gR2 and "imp" and "exp" for Import/Export.
    Hi.
We have a problem. We have two databases. One to test/develope and one live database.
The test/developers one was created with a full dump after settin up the developer server.
Now we want to actualize the test/developer server with the live database.
The best way would be a normal import from a full dump file which overwrites all existing data.
Now we try it with "ignore=y" (it runs longer than 6h) and it seems to append all not existing data in the test/database from the full-dump (of the live server).
Is it the only way (to have a full clone) to drop/truncate the old DB and import than the data?
Can we automate the truncating/droping before import?
It would be to much work every time to delete the whole database, create it, create tablespaces, import the dump-file and so on.
What is the easiest way to do that?
Or is there no need to drop/truncate?
    Thanks for your help!

The problem is, that importing the live database in the test system doesn´t update (because all tables, many rows, ... already exists) the database when ignore=n is set.
If we set ignore=y we get several of messages (and it runs up on 6h for a whole import), because many many rows exists (there are several foreign keys and constraints).
Then only the rest (newest) rows will append.
So if we want to import all new (fresh) from the live system (because direct overwriting does not work), we want to truncate/drop the database to get all fresh in (but does not recreate the whole database).
But I don´t know if there is a automaticated solution to truncate the whole database (and does not do it for each table by hand).
System privileges are not the problem, we have to import with sys as sysdba privileges.

  • Can't mount oracle database on linux system

This is same as previous posting just added
e-mail and username info fo forum posting.
I am not able to mount an Oracle database.
I am new to Oracle and am working on an Oracle8i installation on an
Intel Linux Suse 6.3 platform. I am using only one harddrive and am
not using the 4 mount points as mentioned for efficiecy purposes in
the Oracle documentation..I am using the installation cd from Oracle8i
for Linux Starter Kit by Oracle Press. If anyone has this book they
can refer to pages 41-44 for the examples I followed.
As sysdba in sqplplus using the STARTUP command I can not Mount the
database -step 2 of the 3 stage process (Start, Mount and Open the
database) of opening an Oracle database.
I show the errors I encountered when I did the first 2 of the 3 steps
in the step-by-step mode (STARTUP NOMOUNT pfile=, ALTER DATABASE
MOUNT) in the sqlplus session and alert log respectively with startup
nomount and alter database mount for this sqlplus session.
Additionally I show the init.ora file lines referring to control file
which seem to be referred to by the sqlplus error messages and the
alert.log file. Perhaps some can give me some advice as what I can try
    to fix this problem.
At the end of this e-mail I added several questions I had in regard to the control
    files. Any help is appreciated.

you might know something more about it.
    3) Would you recommend any good text for
Oracle DBA's, especially for the problem of the sort
    that I am encountering?

It's probably not supported on RHEL5/Centos5/etc., but...
You can get the installer to function using the following steps:
    - extract the cal_linux_*.tar.gz, and cd into the OracleCalendar_inst directory
In there is the actual installer, cal_linux.
    - the cal_linux is shell script wrapped around some binary blobs. The installer's
problem is that Oracle is setting the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 environment
variable, which is a mistake on RHEL5. You need to make it not set that variable,
but you need to do so in a way that the size of the shell script does not change at all,
and none of the binary blobs are impacted.
    - the approach I took was
    mv cal_linux cal_linux.BAK
    sed -e 's/LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5/LD_ASSUME_KERNEL= /g' < cal_linux.BAK > cal_linux
    chmod a+rx cal_linux
    cal_linux -i gui
Note: you must have exactly 5 spaces in the substitution part of the sed command, because you're replacing 5 characters (2.2.5), and the size of the shell script must not change.
If you do that, the installer should run (one warning from awk still) and you should be able to install the product.

  • How to backup Oracle Database Single Instance using RMAN

    Folks,
Hello. I am using Oracle Database Server 11gR1 with Operating System Oracle Linux 5.10.
I understand how to backup database instance in SQL Server with Windows. But don't really understand how to backup database instance in Oracle with Linux.
I have done Cold backup and Hot backup for the database instance HRCS90 but both get the same error message.

    My question is:
Can any folk tell me the specific steps (command by command) to backup a single database instance in Oracle using RMAN ?
    Thanks.

    Folks,
Hello. Thanks a lot for replying. My database instance named HRCS90 is going to be backed up. My backup directory is /backup_Database_Instance_HRCS90.
If database in open state, we must back up in archive log. If database in mount state but not open, we can back up in noarchive log.
I have tried to back up HRCS90 in archive and noarchive log when database in mount state but not open as below:
    SQL>startup mount;
    SQL>exit

ORA-19504: failed to create file "/backup_Database_Instance_HRCS90/full_0coqeia5_12_1"
ORA-27040: file create error, unable to create file
    Linux-x86_64 Error: 13: Permission denied
As we see the above last 2 commands, either archive or noarchive, I get the same error:
Archive: ORA-19504: "failed to create file /backup_Database_Instance_HRCS90/full_0boqei2c_11_1"
Noarchive: ORA-19504: "failed to create file /backup_Database_Instance_HRCS90/full_0coqeia5_12_1"
    My question is:
What is the file "full_0boqei2c_11_1" or "full_0coqeia5_12_1" ?  How to solve the above error ?
    Thanks.

  • How to install Oracle Label Security in Oracle Database 10g EE

    Hello All
I just want to know how to install Oracle Label Security in Oracle 10g Database EE.
I read in Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control Installation and Basic Configuration that Label Security must be installed before installing Enterprise Manager Grid Control.
I have Oracle Database 10g Release 1 (10.1.0.1) on my Windows XP System, and I patch it to 10.1.0.3.

    Sorry about my English.

Options is to connect to Oracle Policy Manager or use Oracle Internet Directory (OID)to administer Oracle Label Security.

Assuming an agent is running on the servers you want to monitor,
navigate to the Agent home page (Via setup --> Agent)
When in the agent home page select 'Add Database'and press [Go]
Assuming yopur database now gets recognized, select the Configure icon and enter the password for dbsnmp.
When done, press [Ok] to return to the agent home page.
