How to unhide navigation sidebar in Oracle documentation
On download.oracle.com there is a sidebar that has a 'Hide Navigation' button.
What has to be done to get the navigation sidebar redisplayed once this button has been pressed?

If you move your mouse pointer to the left edge of the documentation browser window, the pointer will turn into a hand with a pointed index finger (at least on my computer it does - your symbol may be different based on your computer settings) - click the pointer to restore the navigation pane.

How to retrieve the source code navigation sidebar
Hi,
I'm trying to build a site following the tutorials on the dreamweaver software. I get in the part where i have to do the columns but i lost the navigation sidebar where the source code tab and the check_cs5.css are under the index.html tab, and have to use this one to be able to continue with the setup. I would like to know if it possible to retrieve this side bar and how? Or what to do to fix it, especially i'm far away for this step, do I have to start over? Please, I need an ASAP answer.
Thanks,I get in the part where i have to do the columns but i lost the

I'm assuming you're doing this tutorial by David Powers:

Dear
Experts, I have a very exciting demand, the board of a customer.
I need to create an analytical application on Oracle Portal, UCM, Spaces, WebCenter, to inform me which quantitatively pages, url and documents are accessed.
How to analyze the navigation flow in Oracle Portal, Number of unique users, downloads and other estastisticas of use of the Portal and Documents?
I thought I'd create a ods with the data of Content Tracker and Google Analytics, and model the analysis through the BIEE.
I ask, what is the standard solution that is used in these cases?
Thank you

How Performance can be improved at Oracle Database level
Hi Everyone,
Need a suggestion ......
I m managing SAP Landscape of Retail Sector Client.
where SAP ERP PRD database size is : 2 TB.
at SAP Application Layer .... we have setup five application system to distribute load because around 1200 users work concurrently.
Out of these 1200 Users around 300 Users keeps on fetching
reports from database which worsen database performance.
We have changed parameters of Database to improve performance.
What we have thought to setup replica of PRD system .
On which Only Report Users will execute reports.
& that System will work as Disaster Recovery Site of PRD System.
In process of that We have restored the PRD Backup on another System. But How can we replicate daily changes of PRD System on Restored System.
One which we have thought by applying offline archive files.
daily . But somebody has told us that we can not apply
offline archive files of PRD System to restored system
because that Restored database is in Open stage & being
used.
(ii) Secondly, Incremental Backup which is very time-consuming action.
Please suggest , If you have an idea & I want to know How
offline archive log file application on DR Site .
Thanks in advance !!!
Points will be rewarded !!!

Hmm.. might happen.

Oh - which ones? Why? Who told you to?
> What we have thought to setup replica of PRD system .

This setup does not work for SAP environments. To get reports out of a system with SAP the database must be open to writes.
> In process of that We have restored the PRD Backup on another System. But How can we replicate daily changes of PRD System on Restored System.
Such thing would be done via a Standby-DB.

That person told you the truth.
> (ii) Secondly, Incremental Backup which is very time-consuming action.
Depends on your reference. Compared to what is it very time-consuming?
Compared with a full DB-Backup this is likely to be the less time-consuming option.

For a how-to in Standby-Setup you may want to have a look into the Oracle documentation like here [Introduction to Oracle Data Guard |http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/concepts.htm#SBYDB00010]

You're welcome !!!

Oh - nice !!!!!!!!!!
Now get a bit earnest as well:
From what you described it sounds like you're setup is a bit undersized.
If your report users use BI for their reports, than it may pay off to setup a seperate BI system that gets it's data from the ERP system automatically and not whenever a user starts a report.
Another option may be to consider using a RAC cluster - but this would be a very expensive option.
In any case the important first step has to be to find out, what the real cause for the performance degration is.
Perhabs the I/O Subsystem is the problem, perhabs the network. Perhabs another CPU would do wonder.
You'll never know - before you analyse this in depth.
Reading hints would include these notes:

Thanks you very much.It is unclear where you are having a problem. Is your issue at runtime (when the form runs in the browser) or when working in the Builder on the form?
Also be aware that you will need to sign your jar and include some new manifest entries. Refer to the Java 7u51 documentation and blogs that discuss the changes.

How to modify Java options in Oracle 10g Application Server
I am trying to modify the Java Options to specify the following field:
-Djavax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory=
org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl
But I am unable to locate the Server Properties section on the Administration section. I had expanded the Prperties section fully also. I had logged in as oc4jadmin.
Can anyone help me out in understanding how to modify the Server Properties. I have consulted the Oracle Documentation but still I cant locate the Server Properties section.Michel,
I have logged in using the following URL: http://<machinename>:<port>/em. The URL eventually changes to http://<machinename>:<port>/em/console/ias/oc4j/administration upon successful login.
I clicked on the Application Server and then clicked on administration link but I dont see Server Properties. I only see the following under Properties section:
EJB Compiler Settings
J2EE Websites
JSP Properties
Logger Configuration
Thread Pool Configuration
Shared Libraries
I am sure I am missing something here. Can you please help me figure that out please.? -
How SMON coalesces free space in oracle 9i and 10g
how SMON coalesces free space in oracle 9i and 10g?
Is it doing same as it was behaving in oracle 7 like looking through free extent table every five minutes (sys.fet$) to see if there are any adjacent free extents that can be coalesced into a single extent, and on every 25th cycle (i.e. every two hours and five minutes) it looks at the segment table (sys.seg$) to see if there are any temporary segments that need to be eliminated, as explained by jonathan lewis?

Can't Download PDF and ZIP Oracle Documentation
Hi!
I love you all at OTN. You are doing a great job,
enlightening us about Oracle technologies. Well done.
I experienced a problem while trying to download the
Oracle documentation files in pdf format. All the
download management software I tried to use kept
reporting that the server 'profile.oracle.com' reports
that the pdf files are text/html content type. And so
all the downloads where aborted. Only Internet
explorer can be used to download these pdf files and
IE is very slow and you can't resume the download if
the connection breaks.
Please kindly help me and others who may be
experiencing a similar problem.
Thanks and stay blessed

Where is the official Oracle documentation that describes Hot Backup?
I have used the woefully inadequate Metalink search utilities and Google but the nearest thing I have found is a description on "Ask Tom".
I am looking for the official Oracle documentation that describes what happens internally during a Hot Backup. There are a lot of web sites and blogs out there that describe it but I am looking for the description from Oracle themselves. The only things I have found in the Oracle documentation so far is how to start and stop Hot Backup but not what happens internally. Preferably 11gR2 if it makes any difference.
Thanks in advance. Thanks mseberg. This is what I was looking for. I had read this manual before but apparently glossed over this paragraph:
"When performing a user-managed online backup, you must place your datafiles into
backup mode with the ALTER DATABASE or ALTER TABLESPACE statement with the
BEGIN BACKUP clause. When a tablespace is in backup mode, the database writes the
before image for an entire block to the redo stream before modifying a block. The
database also records changes to the block in the online redo log. Backup mode also
freezes the data file checkpoint until the file is removed from backup mode. Oracle
Database performs this safeguard because it cannot guarantee that a third-party
backup tool copies the file header before copying the data blocks."
Hot backup is still quite useful and Rman doesn't cover all cases. What we are doing with it is using storage-based replication (Shadow Image) to another set of LUNS which we then mount on another server and backup using Rman. This removes the overhead of Rman on the Production Database server and extends our backup window to almost 24 hours. -

Please verify the same from your end too.

You could do it yourself.
How exactly?By posting here, in the Documentation forum <smiley>.
Which is now done. Hopefully someone from Oracle team will check it.
Or raise a service request, or comment out the page you think it's actually wrong.
