How to work a 16:9 project part ll

Hi,
I have this movie that was shoot on a 16:9 camera I worked Anamorphic on FCE on my canvas and my preview it's seens ok, no letterboxes nothing on the sides. Just alright.
But when i import it on Idvd, i'm using a 16:9 projet, but my preview l have no fullscreen, but it seens like 4:3 . I have space in the sides.
How can i fix that?

We are working on a film project on Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014. Two editors are working on the same film project (same pproj file ) on two machines. As a result the bin structure and the file structure is exactly the same. We even bought two licenses for the respective machines to make matters simple (at least we thought it would).
Now when we share a sequence between the two machines, every time we have to import and re-link media. Also each sequence import comes with its own set of files, which are actually already present in the project. Basically the new sequences are looking to re-link the media to the original/ source files only and are completely ignoring the file structure present in the project.
In all editing softwares, timeline/ sequence sharing is a very common practise when working on multiple machines. Why is it so tedious in CC 2014? Every time we share a sequence between the two machines the media gets doubled and tripled in the project. As a result the project file size is increasing perpetually. Already Premiere CC 2014 is extremely laggy and slow, and this stupid bug is making it more difficult for us to finish our work on time.
Has anybody ever faced this issue? How do we solve it? We are willing to try out any workflow that you can suggest.

Concurrently working on the same project it requires a specific implementation in all editing programs like Avid's Unity/ ISIS shared storage. That's what you are simply not considering. none of your issues would be any problem if your projects resided on a commonly accessed server or something like that. Check respective hardware solutions.

The recommended way to do this is to use a source control system
such as PVCS or ClearCase to handle checkouts/merges of a single
file.

How to work on the exercise project and the solution project

i am trying to understnd how the flex projects works?!
My approach to script work is to make duplicate of my project when i start coding stuff that i am not sure about so that i can comeback to earlier working scriptt if i mess up!
now in flex i don't get the levels hiden behind each projects...
Flex has folder/workplace/bin/project/ and i must say i DON't get it...
everytime i duplicate a project (copying pasting the files into an new folder) flex seems to keep names and info link to the old location///////
Any explaination ??

How to work in RH9 when project is integrated with TFS and TFS server is down

My RoboHelp 9 project is integrated with TFS/Visual Studio. The server went down yesterday and won't be back up until late today.
If I open the project locally (rather than from Version Control), how do I eventually get the latest files (those that I've worked on locally) into Version Control?

Hi,
I use the following method:
1.       Open the project and disconnect from source control.
2.       Modify any files you need. Be aware that when you add/rename/remove/move files, the RoboHelp control files are modified too. (.apj and .fpj)
3.       When TFS is up, check out the files using team explorer. Do NOT overwrite local files. (Make a backup first.)
4.       Using TFS, check in all modified files. Do NOT check in the XPJ file. If you do, the project will lose its connection with source control.
5.       Thrash the local project.
6.       Get the latest version from the server.
Be aware that this requires that you know what you’re doing. Especially when control files are modified. When you only modify the content of existing topics and check the existing topic in, you should be fine.

I tried backup & restore without success. I have also found the .psess files and copied them to the catalog in the new computer but when the sides shows are opened none of the images or music is there. Only the text that I entered shows. I have even tried to replicate the file paths from the XP computer to the new computer to see if that will help.

UPDATE: By a stroke of luck I happened to find a catalog link (a PSE8D file) in the 'My Catalog' file where the imported data was stored. When I clicked on it to investigate what is was 'magically' all of my transferred projects appeared in Organizer. Upon further investigation I found that the projects transferred from my XP computer were stored in a hidden catalog that had to be accessed through the Custom Location option in Catalog Manager (accessed by clicking File then Catalog then Custom Location). No Windows or Elements search revealed this fact. I am appreciative that I just got lucky. The Adode/Photoshop company was absolutely of no help. If fact to me their structure is designed to avoid contact with their customers unless you're buying a new product. Their products have many good features (even though user unfriendly) and it's a shame they don't value their customers more once the sale is completed.
Bottom line: All of the projects (sideshows) have been recovered and work in my new Windows 7 computer. I hope my experience helps others.

If not, it'd be a very cool addition for Adobe to implement... so you know exactly how many hours a project is taking (and how much to charge clients etc.) Obviously we're all prone to leaving Premiere on and wandering away, so I guess it would need to be able to differentiate between active and non-active time...

There are two things a client get's billed for, my time, and my computer's time. If either one of us are working on a project, the client get's billed. Even if Adobe spent (wasted?) time on adding such a feature, they'd never be able to include any time I've spent working on the project with PP closed, so this feature would have very, very, VERY limited usefulness.
The method suggested by the images is still the best way.

How can I work on a Logic Project in Logic9 with a user who is running LogicX without just trading stems?

I am running logic9 and don't want to upgrade to X yet, but my writing partner is using LogicX and we haven't been able to figure out how to open Projects and share between us on DropBox. All we can do is pass audio files back and forth. Any thoughts?

Does this mean the 9 project will open with the changes made in X, if it's just adding audio files to the arrange?

I had to work on two imovie projects. I began the first one and I was about half done. I had to start the second one so I created a "new project". I worked on the second one, but now I want to go back to the first one to finish editing. I go to "Finder" then the "movies" folder, then "imovie projects", then I pick my first movie project I was working on. Imovie doesn't open the first project, it just goes back to my second project, but I want to edit the first. So, how do I open a previous project I was working on in imovie?

How do you work on two separate projects in iMovie? I start a new project and all my progress in another project disappears. I start new events but that doesn't let me start a new movie

How to merge projects is covered in detail on my site. It may be though that the way the links have been set up will not be the same way links would ordinarily be set up in merged help.
For that reason you might want to consider other options.
1] Link the Framemaker content to Project B. That however would also likely have link issues.
2] Use something like ZoomSearch instead of RoboHelp's search. That would be run against the output that you are already creating. ZoomSearch is also covered on my site.

Possibly but it's not the same as if you downloaded the file directly to your computer. Flash video is kind of the secure way to prevent others from borrowing your video from the Youtube website. More likely you would have to do a screen capture or more or less video tape the video playing on your mac and then import that rather than import the actual Youtube video itself. The quality will not be all that great because of the intermediate step of capturing off of your computer screen.

I will give you a basic primer, not going to get to in depth, as far as parameters, size of project, or the storage size of your usb flash drive, etc.
1. you have your finished iMovie project. Under iMovie>Share menu. Choose export using quicktime.
2. make Movie self contained. This way your Mov, Mvi, etc files will be part of the movie and it can play without having to reference the events, because it is actually there.
3. so, now on your desktop ( or any where else set up quicktime to save your file) you will see a quicktime file.
Drag & Drop that file on to the icon of your USB Flash Drive, etc.
4. Details that I omitted because I admit I am not well versed. Most Likely that quicktime file is larger than your USB Flash Drive. You have to use one of quicktime compression work flows, also if you open the just created quicktime file. It will open quicktime player and under the File>Export you have to options. I have a Movie that was 42GB 1080P, I exported it as a 720P, so it would still be playable on a large screen and now the new file was less than 2.5GB.
5. Oh, no i just realized that the file should be playable on a PC, as long as the PC has quicktime for windows installled and you left that USB formated at MS DOS as it came originally, or a PC will not recognize it. Will it open up on your Blu-Ray Player that has a USB port, not sure. Since there is no menu. but, perhaps just pushing play will start movie.

How should one deal with sub-projects?

Hello to all!
Let me first clarify my title-question.
On my current project I faced software malfunction [FCPX quitting] when I reached 17 minutes of building the video on the timeline. [As a reference, allow me to call this 17-minute part of the video in making as the main project.]
Remembering from an earlier thread [? Mr. Russ being the contributor], I opted to continue the project as a separate project which I seek to call as the sub-project Now even this sub-project is of a 14 minute duration and I have need to start a sub-project 2.
I would now like to be guided as to how to deal with these sub-projects while editing the video and after finishing the project.
Firstly, while editing. My present plan is to complete the project's video utilising as many sub-projects as needed, and then add the sub-projects to the main project. This done, I intend to add voiceover for the completed project. During this process, my questions are this...how do I add the sub-projects onto the main project? If I select and copy/paste the sub-project, it gets added as 'connected clips'...this is okay if one can export the project as such. But, when a voiceover has to be added, further retiming of the clips are called for and at this stage problems arise. Now, as I am writing this, it is striking me that I could make this added sub-project as a secondary storyline, get done with the retiming after the voiceover is added, and export the project. Have not done this before and would like guidance from senior contributors in this issue.
Secondly, when the project is exported and is being archived, do I need to have all the sub-projects or delete them to save drive-space?

Thanks Karsten for this further instructions. The present project I am working on is being done as a race against time. Faced a problem when dealing with a stack of generator clips one upon the other and each clip being given different commands regarding changes in position and rotation. Beyond the 17 minute mark, one click upon the parameter in the inspector window, and the application quit. When this quitting became a regular feature, I just remembered a thread in which one contributor wrote that he usually divides his projects into 10 minute bits before making up the whole project. Not willing to spend time further on this problem, being in a very 'creative frame mode' I simply continued working upon the project by starting up a 'sub-project'.

How to share topic from master project to another

Hi. I am new to RH v 9. So, sorry for maybe dumb question
We are developing a software product which consists from two parts - Core & Portal.
Each of part must have separate help page, so we created two projects.
Q: Some topics on each project will be identical, how to share, link them between projects?
We don't want to duplicate our work. Topic should be maneged on one place.

I am thinking you would be better off to have one project and then apply conditional build tags to the topics. Then by creating different layouts in the SSL pod and using different build expressions you could include / exclude content as required.
Topics that will only ever be Core could be tagged CoreOnly, topics that will only ever be Portal could be tagged PortalOnly. Common topics would be left untagged.
The Core layout would use the expression NOT PortalOnly while the Portal layout would use the expression NOT CoreOnly. By that means you would exclude what is not wanted and include everything else.
